I'm not sure of any Apps for Apple or Android, but on Windows Phone, there is Microsoft Office Lens. It might be available for the other two devices, but I haven't done research to see if it is.

Thank you for the advice! I will keep that in mind. I use a tablet, presently. Only issue is finding a convenient image storage site that's friendly on data plans.

Greetings!! I just have one question... My nation is currently a developing country (like most African countries). I plan to keep it that way for now. What steps do I do to become a developed country, assuming I wanted to become one? Note that my nation is a typical dictatorship in Africa, so it's isolated enough for no one outside of Africa to pay any sort of attention, and sanctions will barely affect my nation at all. My nation is surprisingly safe and politically stable, is located in RL Democratic Republic of Congo, so it has access to lots and lots resources, a jungle that isn't completely explored yet, a short coastline, 80 million people and the head of state has absolute power.

NS is all about roleplaying. So in order to "become" a developed country, you would need to roleplay it out on the forums. How you go about that is up to you, but I would suggest that you go about it in such a way that it would make sense, IRL.

A couple of suggestions;

A 'News' Thread; Various news sources in your country discuss or document various developments. Newspapers, radio stations, what television there might be. This could be done in an open format to give others a chance to comment (though you might make a specific note that they can't 'do' anything other than that, if you desire) or as more of a news feed where only the headlines and highlights are listed. This can help to keep things at a measured pace - posting once a day would keep your nation from going from backwater state to space super-power overnight.

A 'Maintenance' or 'Happenings' Thread; Much like the above, a maintenance thread documents the happenings in your nation. Sometimes this is done with other players, sometimes not. It is generally more detailed, however, with characters in your nation interacting with each other to discuss developments, act through them (troops might be patrolling the border, reporters might be interviewing a government official, a family could be visiting the park, thieves could be stealing parking meters), and in general following one or more discrete story arcs. This is my personal favorite since I can both document developments, establish background for characters, dump information, or even just be silly.

I have a few questions for you, Sunset, if I may!

Does this apply to future-tech nations as well? Can it be elaborated in news-form the evolution of a planetary nation-state from a single stage to an expansion? Is it more appropriate to write that out instead of using news format?

Thanks!

It does apply to FT as well. You can do whatever you feel is appropriate. If news over decades and centuries works for you, then do so. Or sprinkle in more traditional narratives if that helps or works better. However you want to further the lore of your nation.

Would tanks from VMK be considered MT or PMT in your opinions?

Virtual Magic Kingdom? Perhaps more detail is in order.

Generally: MT starting point is technology / systems that have been fielded. If a tank has seen action, it is modern. If all of the various systems in that tank have seen action, it could be considered modern or a modern-equivalent design. If a system is merely speculative and has not seen action, it is drifting towards PMT though this is not always the case given that a speculative technology or system may simply have never had any real-world purpose for deployment though being years or even decades past general knowledge. Cutting the line between Modern and Post-Modern can be a tricky beast.

VMK is a popular storefront.

In my view they are firmly PMT. This thread might give a more detailed response.

VMK, along with storefronts like Lyran Arms, are considered "NSMT" or nationstates modern tech which is this idea that since some NS nations are so much larger and have defense budgets so much higher than any existing real world nation MT technology in NS would be a lot more advanced than current technology as these NS nations have orders of magnitude more money for research and development, testing, etc. The distinction between NSMT and PMT can be a bit blurry, the best thing to do is talk with the people you are RPing with and decide what technology is considered acceptable and what is considered too advanced for the intended date/tech level of the RP.

Start with an OOC / signup thread if you haven't done so already. This will give you time to raise awareness for the eventual IC thread, gauge interest in the thread and also can provide a venue for people to ask questions and voice ideas, comments and concerns.

It wouldn't have to be too advanced. Just state the idea, maybe a little background(If there is any), and go from there :)
"Once...we were united. Standing together. Unified. Then war struck. We store ourselves apart and are now only beginning to piece back together the body of Deneager. A Fascist, a Holy Emperor, and the Lord Commissar; von Drakk. They all fought, they all bloodied their weapons, and brought death. No only the Commissar remains. We are again united, but wounds must heal."

Most alliances should have some sort of "resigning" app that you have to fill out. If not just ask the leader of the alliance or one of the Co-ops of the thread

You're not in an alliance. You're just some new player as far as I can see it posting a number of questions here in the wrong forum. If you have a question about RPing you should post here. A question about anything else can go here.

Generally speaking, it's up to you how you want to handle leaving an alliance. You can either write an IC post explaining that your nation is leaving, or you can just OOCly say "I'm leaving." Either way, communication is important, and if you let it be known that you are no longer interested in being in the alliance, then the others in that alliance will have to recognize your wishes, since they cannot compel you to remain.
