In regards to your other questions, "imposing too many belligerents" may not be the best thing for you to do. Forcing someone to take a side they do not want to may leave you with less than adequate participation. Rather, just let RPers choose the side they want to support, and be content with it. RP is about having fun, not about being extremely strict.

I myself am not good with names, so I cannot help you there. Apologies.

Are you looking to create a factback like this? Either way, you can use any format you want to create an FT factbook. Factbook formats are not limited to one particular tech level.

To answer this. I wouldn't, because I prefer to write original material that I created. Having said that, I do enjoy writing things that are at times inspired by real life material.

You are most likely to find such a thread, if one exists, in Portal to the Multiverse, a board dedicated to roleplaying not based-upon your NationStates entities (aka: your respective country). You should consider dropping by the Traveller's Cafe.

You can base it on a real city. You can use Google Earth to get a feel for how real cities are organized and you can build your own city from there. Or, was there something else that you meant?

Hi guys, I really want to try an FT RP but after long tedious hours of reading I don't think to have perfectly understood how your RP works. I'm used to RP inside Region ITALIA (i'm italian btw) with seemingly different rules, that I want to tell you in order to sort out the differences.

First and foremost we RP with our entire nation simulating a 360° day to day national activity in a permanent environment: government policy making, legislative discussion, spy plots, wars, diplomatical interactions, economical agreements and so on (about anything that can happen in the real world). We can set up our departments, our leader and henchmens, our non-gov institutions, our private industries, even our mafia (told ya we are italians). We have narrators who prevent players to do silly things, moderates wars and crysis and once a while to pop up some fresh new events (natural catastrophes, incidents, invasions...). The general feeling is to actually play a whole nation in a realistic world with other nations.

Now, is something of that happening here? I readed about making a non nation pg, wrapping up a story with a villain and some quests to do and finally present this "game-of-sort" to the public waiting for someone to join. No permanent environment. I'm sure to have misunderstood something so please help me to figure up how things works. Thanks in advance

The RPs that are done on the forums tend to be more focused than that. They will usually center on a single event or chain of events with the detailed running of the nation happening entirely behind the scenes. It may be mentioned, it may not be, but they tend to focus either on a single entity even if that entity is as large as a national military. FT RPs also tend to involve a lot of handwaving and window-dressing; Like science-fiction, they use the environment of space and/or the future as a backdrop to tell a story. The focus is typically on the characters and their actions instead of the hard-and-true details of those actions. A squad of soldiers might fight in a terrible struggle against an alien foe, but the focus is on the squad rather than where they got their supplies.

Often, as you mention, the best RPs tend to be somewhat or even entirely scripted. The outcome is known but the details along the way is where the players - writers - get to add their own flavor.

No. Some people find it convenience to hang around in a region like The Local Cluster where they can discuss current and up-coming RPs, world-building, and the like, but it is not required.

Yes, though I couldn't point you towards one in particular. I will say that a lot of the older FT RPers tend to have very detailed and thought-out factbooks (both on the forums, through the factbook system, or through an external site like IIwiki) that are, essentially, 'whole country management'. They may not update these particularly regularly, but FT nations tend to work on a more near-life timescale so just like a real government might not change ministers for years, neither will a FT nation.

As long as you are the last person to post in a thread, you will see and X sign at the top right of your post where "edit" and "quote" are. This will allow you to delete the post. If someone posts after you do, but you want your post deleted, ask moderation to do so.
