Terrorist attack the bombings of Portsmouth

Postby The Virginian Republic » Mon Apr 18, 2011 11:40 am

OOC: If anyone wants to RP as the terrorists that'd be great.

President Samuels stood next to Emperor Richards, as he made his first public address to the nation and the world, "My fellow Virginians and citizens of the Imperial Republic, today our nation has suffered a most horrific act. At 10am this morning, an unknown terrorist group, sailed 3 cargo ships packed full of explosives into the port city of Portsmouth and detonated them at the central docks, near the downtown area. Reports are sketchy at this time, but we know that 1/3 of the downtown waterfront was destroyed and emergency services estimate anywhere from 50-75,000 dead. I have along with President Samuels, by executive order, ordered External Intelligence to devote all their resources to find out who carried out this attack. To those barbarians who believe terrorism is the answer, we will find you and we will destroy you. We will keep you informed as more details come in. May God Help Us all"

Any problems with the below, please just tell me and i'll edit. :)

Mohammed Alzaslini walked through the crowd that stood in front of the Emperor and the President. He pushed through, shoving and barging those who got in his way. When Mohammed heard that they would "find" and "destroy" the "terrorists" he laughed out loud, and pointed at the two men making the speech.
"You liars! You couldn't see the difference between a terrorist, and a member of your own administration!" he screamed with rage. Mohammed then pulled out a pistol. He aimed at the Emperor and pulled the trigger. The bullet flew through the air, and hit in the bulletproof screen between the people and the leaders. Mohammed's face screwed up as guards ran towards him.
"You will die, even if it isn't me who does it!" Mohammed screamed as the guards got nearer and nearer.

King Akbur Barnes watched the international news unfold. Another terrorist attack had taken innocent lives. He thought of the tensions brewing in his own country. The citizens called him selfish and uncaring. He contemplated for a moment. If he helps out The Virginian Republic, not only would his reputation as a good leader grow, but he may gain power through the ordeal. He ordered a jet to be brought to the palace and he made his way to meet the President of The Republic.

Not again, thought President Shepard. It seemed things throughout the world were just getting worse and worse. Standing up to terrorism was needed, and Guruda was yet to be a victim to the recent attacks. Helping to combat terrorists harming other nations would hopefully prevent them from reaching Guruda. An attack this large is one that cannot be ignored.

To: The Virginian Republic
From: The Dem. Rep. of Guruda
Subject: Attack on Portsmouth

To whom it may concern,

This is President John Shepard from the nation of Guruda. First, I would like to express my deepest sympathy over the tragedy that occured this morning in your nation. As you may or may not know, the nation of Guruda maintains a very anti-terrorist stance, and an attack such as this cannot go ignored. We know that you will be strongly persuing the cause of this attack, and if you would like our assistance we would be willing to offer military support to your nation in this time of need. We would be more than willing to fight side by side with The Virginian Republic to rid the world of the monsters that would commit such an unthinkable act against so many incidents. Best of luck in your time of need, and please let us know if you would like our assistance.

Signed,
President John Shepard

Presidential Palace, Millennia,
Premier Alben watched the President's address to his people in saddened silence. He remembered the incident during the revolution when desperate loyalists tried the same trick on his headquarters at St. Hewlett. The fire, the smoke, the blood..... when the irrational man pulled the gun and fired on the leaders, that was it. He immediately drafted this telegram:

To: The government of the Virginian Republic
From: Premier Maxwell P. Alben, the United Socialist States of Marcheria

I just want to start by expressing my personal condolences to you and your nation. The USSM has helped build and support your country from the beginning, and we will do our absolute best to help hunt down and kill these terrorists. I offer you the full assistance of four of Marcheria's Emergency Combat Rapid Response Teams (our most elite soldiers), plus two dozen transport and fifteen assault helicopters to fulfill this task. The scourge of terrorism shall be wiped from your country, no matter what. The Doublestar shines on you today, my friends.
With due regard,
Premier Maxwell P. Alben

OOC: Vitius and Nodsliw either or both of you can be the terrorists...whose to say both of these attacks are completely related eh

The shots fired at the Glass caused President Samuels to hit the deck as Imperial Security (IS) swarmed the room. His own escorts rushed him out of the building, so quickly that he only had time to utter to IS, "But what about the Emperor?" The shots caused much of the crew and staff of the Central News Agency to flee the room, for fear of being shot, in their panic they trampled over each other which added another 2 to the deathlist.

Emperor Richards, a naval officer most of his adult life, barely even flinched at the sound of the shots. Once they impacted the Glass, he stood there defiantly and stared at the man who fired the pistol as both members of IS and the Civil Defense Force took the man down. As the IS dragged the man out, injured but alive he breathed a sigh of relief, at least there would be answers but... He knew that there was no preventing it now...there would be war. The Question remained but with who and where? The Chief of IS Director Jones rushed into the bulletproof glass room of the television station, where national addresses where made, "My Emperor, we must evacuate you at once!" Richards shook his head, "No I will continue to address the nation, we must not show fear Mikia, Otherwise these bastards will win. Now get some men to man the cameras, as it appears everyone has fled" Director Jones nodded and rushed down the hall.

5min later...

"I stand here, even after a foolish attack to remind everyone that we must not live in fear in our OWN HOMELAND. We now have one of the suspected terrorists in custody and are prepared to interview him for information. I hereby authorize the mobilization of the 2nd Fleet and 3rd and 5th Marine Divisions, I would also like to Authorize the mobilization of the Imperial Republican Army's Rapid Occupation Force. We will not rest until every one of these bastards to bombed, blasted, and if need be purged from this Earth. THe Empire Will Prevail! And to all those nations pledging your support we are prepared to form an international coalition to remove this threat from our shores and whereever they came from. Thank You"

King Barnes sat on the plane as the news of the assassination attempt flooded in. "Well after something like that, you're probably one of the last people the President wants to talk to," said Richard Lursk, the Kings second in command. "You're right Rick, but we're almost there anyway, so why don't we just land and attempt to make an appointment with the president at the next appropriate time?" asked Barnes. "Where will we stay? Your Highness, we have no embassy here and I'm sure the Capitol is full and very secure." "Request stay at the Capitol or another government facility and we will see what they want us to do."

Domestic Intelligence Authority, Encositan
Emanuel James, a man without a job title, barges into the chaotic east wing of DIA headquarters. Picking his way through the chaos of desks and moving bodies he approaches a lone door on the far side of the room. Opening the door he takes a step into the smoke choked office.
"You wanted to see me sir."
"That is right I did." Says Emanuel's superior, sitting across a large wooden desk from him.
"I assume this about the incident in Portsmouth this morning, I'm guessing one of the authorities assets bit the program line a little hard."
"The worst part is you're not far off." He says taking out a pack of cigarettes, waiting a moment and lighting one. "The guy was an asset, some psycho we pulled out of Xcursion i think, anyway we rotate him into a sleeper cell and the two weeks later the whack job vents his anger all over the morning news cycle."
"Distance is needed."
"Exactly, if whats left of his cell is unearthed this could have serious consequences. I've already got somebody from the Executive Authority asking questions about it."
"I think I already understand my part in this."
"That is why I called you in Emanuel, go to the Virginian Republic, find them and either make 'em disappear or get them out."
"Understood."
"Now get out of my office, I have to draft something nice for the Foreign Authority to release."

President John Shepard and Secretary of Defense David Anderson were watching the remainder of Emperor Richards speech. They were both impressed at his actions and what he had to say.
[Shepard] "I am a little concerned about his ferocity though. I just hope he doesn't go overboard."
[Anderson] "True. I think we can trust them. We can't let this go. It sounds like they want help, I guess we're in. I'll send him a message, we will mobilize some troops. The public will support it, and we won't have tens of thousands of troops involved. How does 5,000 infantry for now sound, John?
[Shepard] "That works. Clearly we don't know where we're going yet, so have them ready to leave once Emperor Richards gives the word."

To: Emperor Richards
From: The Dem. Rep. of Guruda
Subject: Attack on Portsmouth

Emperor Richards, this is David Anderson, the Secretary of Defense from the nation of Guruda. I would like to support your handling of the tragic situation currently happening in your nation. In order to assist you, we are currently organizing 5,000 infantry to support your campaign. If the situation, or you, require it, the amount of support can be increased. Once you know where the terrorists are located, we will be willing to go in right beside you. Best of luck.

Bellganamos Department of Foreign Affairs

To: Emperor Richards
From: Secretary of Foreign Affairs Lyndon McConnell
Subject: Attack on Portsmouth

Dear Sir,

The country of Bellganamos offers its condolences to the victims and their families. We will support you completely in any military action you take. We have already mobilized our 1st Light Airborne Regiment for immediate deployment and support of your operations. We already have thousands of tons of humanitarian aid, a team of our best doctors, and engineers ready to support you. Our President plans on making an address tonight. Good luck.

Bellganamos Department of Foreign Affairs
-Lyndon McConnell, Secretary

Richards Air Force Base, outside of Seria, Bellganamos

The 1st Light Airborne Regiment was designed so that it could be deployed within 24 hours of an immediate crisis. And based on how half the regiment arrived at Richards more than an hour before the order came out to mobilize, it appeared the years of training had finally kicked in. Early intelligence reports were sketchy, but were filtering in from the FIS. A wide range of theories were being spread around. Most of them were ridiculous. Captain Nate Vieren wasn't worried about the conspiracies and rumors going on; he was worried about getting his men ready. He had seen his company dancing around, goofing off. Not acting like the professional, elite soldiers they were. Suddenly, the massive door on the C-5 Galaxy that was also the entire front part of the airplane rose. Was Vieren going to war? Hadn't had the time to say goodbye to the wife.

In a police vehicle, Mohammed Alzaslini, the attempted assassin:
Mohammed sat in the police van. He was handcuffed, and he had been secretly punched a few times, of course the high-ranking officials didn't know that, but if they did it wouldn't matter. Mohammed heard the police call him a terrorist several times. He hated this, he wanted to be classed as an assassin not a terrorist. 'Terrorist' didn't sound right, Mohammed wanted to be remembered as the brave assassin who left now trace, but this was now impossible. He has messed up. The plan was to shoot the Emperor, and if possible the President, then escape using the fleeing crowd as cover. By the time the authorities stopped everyone, Mohammed would of been gone. If he had pulled it off, Mohammed would of been permitted entry into the official group of terrorists. Mohammed closed his eyes and gave a little prayer. A police officer sat in front of him in the back of the van, the officer had been disarmed and was there just to give radio-updates. The officer talked into the radio.
"The suspect is remaining calm. We're three minutes out from the HQ." he updated, getting a "ten-four" back from the dispatcher. Mohammed then raised his leg, kicking the officer's hand, causing the radio to drop. He then quickly kicked the officer's face, which in return the officer kicked back.
"Code red!" he screamed in pain, but Mohammed kicked him once more. The van had stopped, and the back doors opened. The officers aimed at Mohammed with their pistols. He lunged at them, but they all shot him. Mohammed's body flew back and crashed onto the van's floor.

The People's Rights (A terrorist group) - their HQ, a small apartment on a poor estate:
Lashkair O'Semma put the phone down on the desk. He shut his eyes for a moment. He then jumped from his seat, and ran upstairs. He pushed open the doors, and saw his two superiors plotting the Emperor's death.
"Mohammed Alzaslini has been killed by the police." he announced, turning the news on. The superiors exchanged a concerned look on their faces, until one of them replied.
"This is good news, now he won't give away our position." Before the conversation could lead any further, there was a knock on the door.
"Quickly! Grab a pistol." the other superior whispered, pointing to a box of silenced pistols. The less-important man grabbed a pistol, with a silencer, and walked downstairs to the door. He opened it, seeing the uniform of a police officer.
"We had reports of screaming in here... we have permission to come in." the officer claimed, putting one foot in the door.
"Of course, sir. Come in." he replied. The policeman walked in, telling his partner to wait outside. He bent down to examine a box. The box itself contained high-explosives, when the officer saw this he went for his gun. The terrorist quickly shot the officer, at the back of his head. This was unheard by the partner, who waited outside. The terrorist then opened the door and fired five shots into the policeman's chest. He grabbed the holes, and walked backwards. The back of his legs hit the short railing, causing him to topple over.

Civil Defense HQ:
"Squad car 112 hasn't responded...dispatching car 235 to its last known location."

The police officers climbed out of their car, they had only been two blocks away when the call went out. The two of them noticed the other squad car parked outside the apartment, but no sign of the officers. The both headed inside the building upon entering, one of them noticed the crumpled body of one missing officers lying at the bottom of the stairs riddled with bullets. Both officers looked up and drew their guns, and noticed the broken railing 3 floors up. One of the officers grabbed his radio, "This is Officer Ramsey, to Civil Defense HQ, we have a 3-1 I repeat, 3-1 we have a dead officer, requesting backup." The radio squacked, "This is Civil Defense HQ, Dispatching Squat Unit 11 to your location, stand by. Out." The officer put his radio away and he and his partner headed up the stairs, guns still drawn

President Minnow sat in his office, packing his things. He was getting ready to leave for the day, but his assistant walked into the office, "You'll want to see this."

"Hmm?" Minnow looked at the small, vanilla folder with the signature Polar Bear. Inside was a series of telegrams and reports on a terrorist attack. "50,000 to 75,000 deaths? This is just... Its impossible to describe."

Dear Virignian Republic National Leader,

Although we are just now receiving the first reports to this gruesome attack by these wanna be terrorists, I want you to know that anything that your country needs will be provided, humanitarian aid, troops, rescuers, etc. Once news of this horrible crime of humanity reaches the public, I assure that a charity will be made. Just send us a list of supplies you need.

Shemya Air Force Base, Gorky, The USSM
It was an impressive sigh. Four C-1J Superbus large jet transports and six C-18A Skylifter ultra-large jet transports lifted off from Marcheria's largest military base and turned toward the Virginian Republic. Also lifting off was a single VC-1E Coach Bus VIP transport. Although usually configured for barely 20 passengers in exquisite comfort, this one was configured for over a hundred individuals to travel in Business Class-type seats, with room for a full combat ops suite and enough personal gear for the four Emergency Combat Rapid Response Teams (ECRRT) occupying the aircraft. The four 25-man teams were the best in the USSMDF, selected for physical fitness, brains and combat ability. And now, with their vehicles, helicopters and heavy equipment in the larger transports, they would be going to do what they did best: take out the bad guys.

Several hours after the incident in The Virginian Republic, members of Guruda's 1st Infantry Division were getting ready to leave the country. 5,000 infantry from the division were selected, armor would be decided later. They put on their ACU's, body armor, and helmets. The majority of the soldiers would be carrying M4 assault rifles, others were using M249's, a few Benelli shotguns, and a handful had long range rifles by Accuracy International. Each also carried a TZ-99 pistol, a K-BAR knife, and two frag grenades. They all had heard of the incident in Portsmouth, and knew what it meant throughout the world. No country was safe from terrorist acts. Currently, the trick was transporting 5,000 infantry to where the Virginian Republic needed them. That would be taken care of within the hour.

Major Lawson had his company of 100 men stand at attention. He was leading Alpha company, scheduled to be the first into combat. He decided it would be a good time to address them, they were all set getting ready and he didn't want them getting impatient. "As you all know, over 50,000 civilians in The Virginian Republic were killed by a terrorist attack this morning. Our mission, is to rid the Earth of who is responsible. If they are capable of an attack of that scale, they are capable of doing it again. Through our help, we will send the message to organizations such as these around the world, that they better not try this again. I understand some of you may not believe that this is our war. But if for one moment, you doubt your incentive for fighting them, think of your families here in Guruda. We do not want them to try this on our soil." Lawson paused, and looked around at all of the soldiers in front of him. "Understand the situation. We will be the first from Guruda going into battle. Against a tough and determined enemy. You will defend the man next to you, with your life. No matter what. I can't promise you, that I will bring you all home alive. But this, I promise. I will be the first one to step into the field of battle, and I will be the last one to step off. I will leave no one behind...dead, or alive. We will all come home together." Major Lawson then stepped out, as he was going to meet with the Lieutenant Colonel at the base before his company left.

Imperial Military Headquarters, Kasr Derth, Cadia Province, Kel-Elysia

"So how the hell are we going to pass this off?!" shouted Admiral Drana Vaner. "The public will fly into a rage if they find out we're funding terrorists! Why in the Emperor's name didn't you tell me about this?!" Vaner's red hair flew about as she shook her fist at General-Militant Dravin Gratz.

Must be that time of the month, was the first thing that crossed Gratz's mind. Nevertheless, he acted calmly, trying to avoid looking into her eyes.

"I would have, but if we are to exterminate these heretical Virginians-"

"I don't care about that! What if come rabble rouser found out about this?! These aren't only terrorists, but heretics to boot!"

Lord Commissar Darrac Merlin shifted in his seat, "Miss Vaner, we needn't worry about these rabble rousers. I'll take care of them. These terrorists will die before they can move against us. We know they're planning to. Well, Courth? What are you going to do about it?" Merlin reassured her, "The masses will be afraid of these terrorists once they hear of these attacks. All they need is a pretty face and a nice smile to reassure them. That's why you're minister of public relations, isn't it?"

Barely satisfied, Vaner exited the room, still fuming.

Governor-General Tarsin Courth already had a plan. He would send a company of Kasrkin special forces from his own province of Cadia to aid these terrorists. They were fighting against these weak Virginian scum. This would be a preliminary to an invasion to liberate the nation from the shackles of heresy. These terrorists were disposable pawns. The Kasrkins were the key. If they could kill the key members of the Virginian government...victory would be theirs. Better yet would be the ability to send an assassin. But they were increasingly hard to come by these days. The undercover Kasrkins would have to do.

Courth sighed. As a Cadian soldier, he was hell bent against using deceit tactics. He was the first man to beg to send in a frontal invasion. But you had to do what you had to do. That's what his subordinates in the Officio de Assassinorum had always told him. He grabbed his cap and set out towards Kasrkin Barracks 3-B. There was very dirty work to be done.

Not an FT wank. I've pretty much made my nation an MT version of an FT faction from one of my favorite games. They have MT equipment and training.

OOC: They're a suicide squad. Great for taking out those annoying dirt cheap SM transports.

OOC: I guess this is mostly directed to The Virginian Republic, but there are a lot of troops moving around right now, where exactly are they supposed to be going?
