Rebellion in Kazakhstan Krai(MT/Open)

Postby Greater Russian Empire (Ancient) » Sat Apr 16, 2011 6:33 am

His Imperial Majesty's News Service Report
Orsk, Kazakhstan Krai:
Hello, this is Anastasiya Burogov, reporting for His Imperial Majesty's News Service. If you haven't recieved word by telegram or another sort of communication, were telling you now. Earlier today, a government attempt to apprehend leaders of the islamic extremist group, the Fist of Mohammed, turned to a bloodbath for the government agents. Using the attempt as a scapegoat, they have now began a mass riot in the Kazakhstan Krai. It seems that the rebels have been training for some time and are well provided for. To make matters worse, the rebellion has threatened to spread into Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Krais.
The Imperial Duma has gone into an emergency session, and has authorized the evacuation of Slavic settlers. Locals have been conscripted to the militia, and the Army has been sent in. We--
the reporter was killed by an RPG fired by an extremist moslem. As the camera fell, the sound of gunshots could be heard as the camera cut out.

From His Imperial Majesty:
To: The nations of the world.
From: The Greater Russian Empire
To whomever it may concern,
The Kazakhstan Krai in the southeast of the Empire has been incased in a religiously-fueled conflict. We implore the nations of the world to come to the aid of the empire in this time of dire need. Enclosed with this message is a map of the Krai and localities:

We will help your military supressor this violent group by sending 30 FF43's to your disposal. They will be used as a bombing campaign to disrupt the enemies movements and forces.

Any areas you wish us to deploy in please tell us and we shall begin our deployment into the area to try and help you reasurt control over the region.

We thank both nations for their support. We will accept the bombers.
As for Peace for Men's task force, the best way to get to Kazakhstan would be to go through the Volga, whose inlet is just de-icing from a rather cold winter, into the Caspian sea and deploy through Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan. We apoligize for the inconveinience, as Kazakhstan is one of our landlocked Krais and is usually avoided as desert no-mans land. It is remarkably similar to other moslem and desert countries.
(OOC: This is meant to be a bit of a russian version of Operation Desert Storm/Iraqi Freedom, but more successful then the latter.)

OOC: thanks goes to Greater Russia for this.

Erisia...

Phillip laid down a file with a picture of a young man, his face marked by the scenes of destruction he's laid down upon those who fell into his hatred. "Serik Nazarbayev, how intresting." His official nodded with a morose atmosphere about him. "Yes sir, we've had eyes on him as you know. But to be honest I never thought he would strike so fast. If anything he was just a bit of a boogeyman, sitting in the shadows." Phillip sat, entranced as he studied him. "Yes well it is those in the shadows we must fear. However, he could toss the whole area into a new system of power, especially one that could benefit us. Get into contact with him, let him know he'll find friendship in Bothnia."

Jonathon Matow speaks to the Kazakhstan Krai administration:
Hello, however we have no time for formal introductions. The Nation of Nodsliw is concerned with the current situation in your nation, and President Nodsliw wishes to aid you in these troubling times. However, unlike fellow nations we will not just send aid or even soldiers to your country without first hearing what the actual situation is. We request that your administration send Nodsliw a STATUS REPORT on the current situation. Once we have received this, we will then act firmly - with your government's permission.

Thank you,
Secretary Jonathon Matow,
Department of Foreign Aid.

The Nodsliwian Intelligence Service will ensure all details are protected, and that nothing is leaked.

The Nodsliwian Intelligence Service will ensure all details are protected, and that nothing is leaked.

The Provincial Administration sent out a public status report to all nations:
Kazakhstan is sparsely populated, exceeded in sparcity only by the Mongol Krai. In the last Imperial Census, taken in 2000, it had a population of about 16,000,000 people. Though it could be higher, as 46% of the population are pastoral nomads who have no permanent home. The Krai is landlocked, accessible only by a few navigable rivers which stretch about Russia. The simplest way for foreigners to reach the Krai is by sailing the Volga river, into the Kaspian Sea, and through the Uzbekistan Krai.

Though the rebellion is scattered about the region, the cities that have the largest insurrection currently would be in the south, which holds the most moslems. These cities include Almaty, Baykonyr, Taraz and Shyrrekent. There are reports, though unconfirmed, of fighting in the Turkmen and Uzbek Krais.

Meanwhile, in Baykonyr:
Kpt. Dmitri Sounovich rode along the top of a BTR, headed for the rebellious city of Baykonyr. Dmitri was a rather poor man; his grandfather was a serf until the abolishment of the serfdom in 1930; his father was a collective farmer on an aristocrats plantation. Though he was entitled to a large sum of money from his mother; a Ritter, whose titles and wealth could be passed down to him as morganatic marriages in Russia only affected the male partners. He had grown up in the small plantation in the Ukraine, in the 80s, when there had been again trouble in the area he was now in. But it was different. The propaganda posters always showed the green-shirted russian army bravely defending Mother Russia. But this seemed a lot less glorious.

Negative thoughts aside, he focused on the task ahead: A whole 3 divisions worth of Mechanized infantry was tumbling towards Baykonyr at break-neck speeds. The city's high spires were already visible among the great dunes.

"Chto ne tak , Dmitriĭ ? Boyasʹ neskolʹko musulʹman?" asked Pvt. Dvorovsky. Translated, he said,"What is wrong, Dmitri? Afraid of a few muslims?""Kak by vy devushki , Dvorovsky," he retorted. Translated, he said:"As much as you are of girls, Dvorovsky." It was well known Dvorovsky was a womanizer who had had a date with every girl around the base.

Suddenly, a dune exploded nearby, sending dirt and shrapnel everywhere."Ogonʹ po zhelaniyu!" someone shouted, ordering to attack. He could make out the shape of men in white robes. Usual kazakh moslem desert clothing. He opened fire immediately, sending a spray of lead from the BTR's main gun. A few of the shapes went down, while others dived behind the dunes.

The other BTRs opened fire on the dunes, but they dug only a few inches into the thick sand. The nose of an RPG stuck out of the sands."RPG!" someone yelled, and he was only able dive at the last second. As he ducked under his seat, fire washed above, followed by light shrapnel. His head smashed against his seat. He blacked out.

A few seconds later he regained conciousness, crawling out of his tipped over seat. Dvorovsky was hunched over, crying. Dmitri crawled over to him, lifting Dvorovsky's arms with a protestive moan. He had burns on his arms, a concussion, and some shrapnel in him."Medik!" he yelled, followed by a man in a white-red uniform dashing over. He called some of his fellow medics over with a stretcher. As they piled him on, the first medic said to him,"Vash drug budet tyanutʹ cherez"- he breathed a sigh of relief. Dvorovsky would be alright. Taking his AK-74, he peeked out from behind the tipped BTR. The Moslems were closing in. He fired off a few rounds, hoping to halt their advance.

I hope you don't mind me joining in on the role play?

President Nodsliw, Secretary of Foreign Aid Jonathon Matow and Secretary of State Thomas Pollenger marched down the halls of the Presidential Building. The floors were white, the walls were white and even the chairs were white but the Presidential Building was called the Orange House, unofficially of course. Tyler Nodsliw, who has been elected about a year ago, felt strained and looked as if he desperately needed some form of rest. The Secretaries held "top secret" folders, and Pollenger's under-Secretary was on the phone giving updates on the Kazakhstan Krai situation. As of yet, the newspapers in Nodsliw hadn't had a reaction from their President since the report of the rebellion.

Tyler turned right, through double doors. The Secret Service, he saw, had every window blocked by an agent. In President Nodsliw's office, his Press Secretary sat at his desk, going through the speech she had created.
"Mr. President," she greeted, standing up as instructed, with the entry of any administrator. "We just received another message from the his Imperial Majesty." She passed the message to Tyler, who quickly scanned through it. He then looked at her. The woman looked so inexperienced, and innocent. The lady had blonde, fair hair and beautiful blue eyes.
"I need to address the people." President Nodsliw explained to her. "I'll make it brief, and explain that we're making contact with the Kazakhstan people." He took hold of her notepad, and quickly scanned through it. He nodded with approval, and walked to the French doors. From there, he opened them, and walked to the podium. The Secret Service quickly took position, scanning the audience as always. The journalists were surprised by Tyler's sudden stepping to the podium, but this did not stop them from analysing his every word.
"My people. The current rebellion in the Kazakhstan Krai nation cannot be avoided by this government. The Nation of Nodsliw cannot sit by and let innocent life be ended in such brutal ways. Myself, and my administration, plan on getting involved in non-violent ways. Murdering the murderers will only enrage the murderer's supporters." There was a boo from the crowd, but it was drained out by the sudden burst of questions from the journalists. The Press Secretary stood to the podium, and explained that a press conference will be held after this "ordeal."

Prime Minister Jason Crowne looked carefully over the report that had just been handed to him by his Chief of Intelligence. The document was describing in detail the conflict brewing in Kazakhstan Krai. The report also outlined several military options that Kosoa could pursue.

Crowne looked up from the papers and asked "Which of these responses would be the most effective? I want to be able to make a large impact without a large Kosoan footprint."

His Chief of intelligence responded saying "Option Two would be the most practical. It would be simple. Drop a few agents into Kazakhstan Krai and have them call in airstrikes using our stealth bombers. The operatives would be of Kazakhstan Krai decent or something similar so as to blend in with the local population." He continued cautiously, "Several other nations have pledged aid to the region so perhaps a larger presence could improve relations with other nations."

The Prime Minister weighed the different choices in his mind before making a decision. "Kosoa does not support dictatorships. The Greater Russian Empire is not an ally of ours and nor should it be.... We may be able to use this as an opportunity. Deploy the small group of agents. Instead of targeting the rebels we'll attack the Russian Empire forces to liberate Kazakhstan Krai and then deal with the rebels. We'll be able set up a democracy in the region."

The Chief of Intelligence returned to his office and immediately began to issue orders for the dropping of seven men into Kazakhstan Krai...

Outside Erisia

4 Divisions of Infantry supported by Armoured Detachments loaded up onto ships, they were bound for the Kazakh coast, they would hit hard and fast and try to divert the enemies attention from the rebels. Once they landed they would split into 2 task forces. Leading them was Lt. Gen. Imran Petrovitch, as he sat onboard the ship he got a sense of the magnitude of what would come. But he didn't have time to sit and wait, he had work to do.

hours later, Dawn

The ships had loaded up and they were making good time, the sun was just starting to rise. "We don't have long, I need my men to be ready" barked Imran, one of the sailors walking off to begin announcements to the troops onboard. They could barely see what was supposed to be city of Aktau, with no ships or aircraft about it seemed like all within were still asleep. After taking his last sip of coffee he looked about, the sea still calm, however the air wasn't. 6 squadrons of fighters and Attack planes began to creep out above them, keeping the skies within their possession.

Subject: Kazakhstan Krai Conflict

The violent situation currently unfolding in Kazakhstan Krai has been brought to the worthy attention of the Repulaean Unified Council. Threatening to destabilize the entire region, The Constitutional Monarchy has taken it upon herself to render aid in any form plausible at this time. Thusly, as per executive command, unarmed military transports are to be dispatched to Russian held airbases within Kazakhstan Krai. These transports carry humanitarian goods, curtsey of Repulaean generosity. We earnestly pray to almighty God that this conflict may come to a quick a bloodless resolution.

Peace for Men is pleased to see that the Russian Empire accepts our offer of help. We are glad to see that for once a communist and imperailist army might work well together to acheive a common goal. We have dispatched an Air contingent to the region with about 1500 men and 250 tanks and APCs. They are also accompaned by the first of the 100 planes and helicopter support that make up part of the task force. Our naval part of the taskforce on the otherhand has begun the difficult trip down the Volga towards the Caspian to begin deployment of our main force.

Signed,
President Makarov and Field Marshall Jenkins

The three planes soared through the air their engines filling the area below them with noise. With the rebellion having taken huge control over the southern regions of Kazakhstant Krai the Peace for Men Paratroopers were going to drop straight into combat. As the transport planes opened their hatches above the port city of Aktau the men high fived each other and prepared their M16s and other weapons. The para's jumped soon after the light had turned red and descended to the ground in quick prosession. Soon the roaring whoosh of fighter jets filled the air as the planes moved to attack any air craft deemed a threat by PFM high command.

One hour later...

The paras moved into the city and began to secure it. Mild fire fights between rebel militia broke out but was quickly quelled by either rifle fire and superior training or the shell of the light tank company accompaning the paratroopers. The port was soon under Peace for Men control and the men began to dig in ready for any sign of a counter attack. "Get my high command." Came the cry of Major Lennox. The radio operator hurried over to his commanding officer. After a few minutes Major Lennox was in deep conversation with his field marshall.

"Good to hear you've secured us a landing area Lennox your going to be on your own for a while the task force will take maybe two days to reach your location to relieve you. But I have high hopes that you can hold out our Planes and Helo's will be on call at all times so you and your men won't be unsupported." Lennox acknowledged his commander and looked around himself. The appromixately 1750 men and machines had successfully managed to dig in around the city with fox holes and slit trenches prepared with emplaced weapons. Anyone wanted to take this city off PFM forces they'd be in for a fight...

AKTAU

After another hour of sailing in the fleet was in sight, "Load all troops onto transport vehicles, commence fire." Upon his determined order, the guns of their destroyers and cruisers began sending their first salvo towards the sleeping city. The gun crews were working at impressive speed, the guns blasting away at the horizon. Just about that time the infantry had loaded up on the UH-1's and had taken off. They quickly soared in, the booming of the explosions from the rockets and bombs being dropped from their air cover was getting louder. They began to lower down, more and more figures could be spotted on the ground, many of them fled or were quickly dispatched by the door gunners. The left flank of the incoming wave had surprisingly taken some fire, but nothing too serious, however it signaled that there was resistance. But it seemed they wouldn't have to worry about it in the outskirts. Behind the choppers came a small flotilla of LCT's. They carried Bothnian T-72's and 2S1's. To save time the Bothnian APC's would come in later.

The Infantry hit the ground and jumped out, the outskirts were empty for the most part, the few people they saw were bewildered, some talked of "other" troops coming in before the Bothnians. It was now obvious who fired at them...

The LCT's landed on the shore, the tanks and self-propelled artillery began unloading, at this rate the whole force could be on shore in another hour. The booming from rockets and bombs in the city nearby giving some hope....

Orbat
40,000 Infantry
3 Armoured Regiments
3 Self-propelled artillery Regiments
6 Fighter squadrons
6 close air support squadrons

Kazakhstan Krai, above Aktau
Transport ANC-26 "Jackbear"
14:03 hours local

The massive TS-80 Valliant cargo craft carefully descended through the empty sky of a bright Kazakh day. Four other transports trailed in behind, preparing to break off to their respective destinations to offload their humanitarian shipments. At just 20,000 feet, the behemoth was a sight to see, as well as an ample target.

The crew was yet to be informed of the fighting raging just below them. Their timing was unfortunate as the distorted view of the desert became clear through small patches of clouds that blotted the blue sky.

"Radial 8, this is Jackbear requesting you to reroute to your vector as per the 186. Copy?"

"Confirmed, Jack, I got a 186 vector on approach now at 25,00 feet. See you on the other side."

As the transports veered off to their designated landing stations, warning sirens blared in the cockpit of ANC-26. Captain Richard Hoss frantically looked about to find the problem, only to realize, to his horror, that it was an apparent surface to air missile lock on his aircraft.

"Shit!" he exclaimed as he banked hard to the left, the giant metal bulk following his controls. "Mayday, mayday, this is ANC-26, we've been locked on! SAM strike imminent!"

The cries of terror from Captain Hoss could be heard by all but acted upon by none. There was nothing the other aircraft could do but proceed with emergency protocol and return to base, in agony and despair. Jackbear lurched as a pre-targeted SAM missile struck the tail end of the aircraft, sending the gargantuan beast into a barrel role, still with 15,000 feet between it and the unforgiving desert. The beast would later plummet into the floor, while attempts to escape the raging inferno aboard the jet were made useless by the burning fuel pods and high G acrobatics. Within hours, the plain's fuselage would be found, scorched, just 14 mils outside of Aktau.

Subject: Lost Repulaean Aicraft

As your government may currently be aware of, a Repulaean TS-80 heavy transport was shot down over Aktau yesterday, claiming the lives of all 22 souls who were aboard. As per intelligence reports, extremist factions in the area have claimed responsibility for shooting down a "Peace for Men paratrooper transport". In contradiction to their claims, this aircraft was in fact our own TS-80 which braved the storms of your war to deliver much needed humanitarian supplies to the embattled peoples of the Kazakhstan Krai region. Thusly, an emergency session of the Unified Council was assembled. Just hours ago, the Council voted to support the Executive branch's move for direct intervention.

As of now, an expeditionary task force, designated "Mammoth", has been dispatched to the Caspian Sea in a coordinated effort to aid Russian and PFM forces in their goal to oust extremist forces from the region. This force is comprised of 10 warships (including two fleet carriers) as well as 12 auxiliary support craft. Again, we earnestly pray for a rapid resolution to this conflict. Good luck and Godspeed.

The Peace for Men paratroopers held their ground in their defences and watched as the enemy forces drove back several scout units with mild exchange of shots. As the UH-1's came into sight though the defences bristled into life as Paratroopers began to unload their Stinger missiles. The mobile AA launchers glistened in the morning sun as the first rockets fired from their barrels at the enemy choppers. Alongside this barrage came the beginning of an artillery barrage of Mortar fire and tank shells as the T-72's and Scimtar tanks began to land on the enemies heads as 10 t-72s and 25 Scimitars launched themselves at the invaders firing as fast as they could.

As the enemy bombs began to fall on the city the Red Air Force finally dove into the fray from above the enemies heads. The 6 fighter squadrons of the PFMRAF fired off mini-guns and side winder missiles as they came down upon the enemies heads.

The sheer ferocity of the attack failed to daze the PFM forces in Aktau as they began to fight to the death...

The seven man squad of special forces and intelligence agents had made their way across the Turkmenistan boarder only a few hours before and were now sitting on a secluded hillside south of Aktau. They were surveying the battle commencing on the ground before them. The Bothnian invasion had only just begun. The fight was going to be a tough one. The Kosoan strike team hoped that they could make go in the favour of Bothnia.

The men began to camouflage their position and identify Peace for Men targets. The first wave of B-2 Stealth Bombers were due in about two hours. The task force used special radio equipment designed to randomly switch frequencies while they were communicating with the pilots so they would be difficult detect.

The bombers themselves would be flying near their peak altitude of 50,000 ft. They would drop their payload of 16 1,000lb. JDAM bombs. They would be flying in groups of 10 so as to provide continuous air support and would fly in, out of the west.

Volga River, Greater Russia
Task Force Mammoth
19:00 hours

The great Volga River was just large enough to accommodate the Repulaean warships as they squeezed through, single file, headed by the flagship, C.R.S. Eternity (CRV-101). Like all Eternity Class fleet carriers, she was a massive sleek machine of war, able to operate many dozens of aircraft in support of the operations in the Caspian. Behind her trailed C.R.S. Valiant Royalty (CRV-129), her sister ship, and the rest of the fleet comprised of cruisers, frigates, amphibious assault ships, transports, support craft, and other vital pieces of the fleet.

Aboard the transports were 5,500 infantry troops of the 4th Expeditionary Brigade with two mechanized companies of armor and support vehicles. Troops and sailors alike took to grabbing some air as they paraded up topside for the view. It was chilly, but not uncomfortably so. Specialist Carl Kador, of India company, 3rd battalion, leaned on the rail at the stern of his Cape Ram Class Amphibious transport dock, C.R.S. Kingsly Ridge (AANS-3457). Kador took heavy drags from his cigarette, remembering the days when he used to frolic about his neighborhood in downtown Hegrane playing soldier with the other children. Now, 13 years later, he was again playing soldier with the other children.

"Look at that..." said PFC Nicks leaning in next to Kador. He eyed a riverside town as streamers flew and cheers could be heard from the grateful people.

"Quite a sight." said Kador, taking another drag. He exhaled slowly as the remnants of his drag escaped his puckered lips.

"You all good, Carl?" asked Nicks as he drew a cigarette from his own pack. Kador took the initiative to light it for him as Nicks nodded in thanks.

"Yeah..." began Kador as the town already grew faint in the distance, "Yeah, I'm good."

Caspian Sea
Task Force Mammoth
03:10 hours

The entirety of the task force was in standard formation, that being warships to the coastal east with auxiliary vessels and transports to the west, behind them. The time had come, after a long trip down the Volga, for the first Repulaean strikes to begin. Codenamed Operation: Caspian Spring, it was to be the first real coordinated military action that Repulaea has seen since the 1972 Seran Conflict in the eastern colonies. Eager to get his operation underway, Fleet Admiral Spencer Stills dispatched firing orders to each cruiser's respective gunnery stations. Cruise missiles were readied for launch whilst aircraft were prepared on the decks of the carriers.

The immediate objective was simple and understandable; knock out insurgent defenses in and around the task force's target city of Atyrau using short range destroyers and frigates while long range missile cruisers struck rebel targets in Aktau in support of the allied effort there. Aircraft would follow the initial missile strikes on Atyrau to mop up the remainder of the enemies strongholds and mobile targets. Ground action would be taken on an unconfirmed date to secure the city of Atyrau.

Though troubled grievously by the insurgents, Atyrau had far less rebel activity than its southern neighbor. Luckily, Repulaean casualties were expected to be low.

At exactly 03:10 hours, Fleet Admiral stills gave the commencement order for Operation: Caspian Spring. Seconds after his voice bellowed from the fleet communications network, bright red streaks could be seen jettisoning from strike vessels of the fleet. Some headed directly for the coast to hit Atyrau while others went farther south to hit rebel targets in Aktau. All predesignated targets were now at the full mercy of Repulaean naval strike power. As the first missiles went up, cheers could be heard from the ships, the black sky being illuminated with a dozen "vanguards of death". Just hours later, the missiles struck their targets with deadly precision. Insurgent fuel depots and ammunition storage caches were the first targets to be hit. Next up were communications arrays, bunkers, troop positions, supply routes, and command posts. The city lit up throughout the night and by dawn the first Repulaean strike aircraft had entered Kazakh airspace. With equally fatal accuracy did they strike Insurgent targets. Throughout the day, missile attacks and airstrikes did not relent, hammering out the remaining vestiges of insurgent strongpoints throughout the city of Atyrau.

Hillside
South of Atkau
3:30 a.m.

The first wave of ten B-2 stealth bombers began their approach into Atkau. Each pilot armed their JDAMs and waited for bombing coordinates from the task force on the ground.

On the ground the task force was preparing to radio the pilots. They picked which targets would go first. Among them would be a column of Peace for Men ACP's, several ammo depots, a fuel depot, and a few AA guns and SAM sites.

"War Bird, this is Fire Fox ," said one of the task force members into the radio set. "Are you in position to begin bombing run 0001? Over."

"That's affirmative Fire Fox. We are awaiting your coordinates," responded the lead pilot.

"We are sending you the targets now to your targeting computer."

"Roger that, we are receiving them now."

"Happy hunting War Bird. Fire Fox out." The task force member switched off the radio and moved up the hill to get a good view of the show.

The B-2's moved over Atkau and locked on to their targets. Moments later 160 laser guided JDAM's, each weighing in at 1,000lbs fell from the sky, onto Peace for Men targets...

The firefight outside Aktau cooled down, and the rebels went into a retreat."Oni Ushli," A private behind him said-'They're gone.'"Ne dolgo," Dmitri replied-'Not for long.'

Dmitri caught up with his Captain to regroup. They're was a new plan. The Caravan was exposed and Aktau would be on alert. However, PFM and Kosoan troops were attacking. To better the odds, Repulean ships were besieging the city. Unfortunately, Bothnian troops were supporting the rebels.

The caravan would now move away from the roads and flank the city, and take the moslems from behind. The plan wasn't fulproof, but it had a high success rate. The Troops loaded into the rest of the BTRs and sped off.

Meanwhile, moslem troops crept around Aktau, encircling the PFM troops. They were garrisoned in buildings all around the PFM troops, armoured vehicles hiding in the alleyways. RPG teams were stationed in strategic points, and a bridge that connected the city was rigged with C4.

To make matters worse, They had gotten hold of a white phosphorous missile, and it was in a warehouse about half a mile away.

The Great Armed Republic of Alexistan cannot send troops to fight in this civil war, nevertheless, we are happy to provide humanitarian aid (water, medicine, clothes, food) and some weaponry (particularly assault rifles and grenades), if there's a request for it.
