No one yet.
We still have the top government seats to elect.

Issues:
Reintroduction of private enterprise:
Private enterprise is currently illegal, do we legalise private enterprise or no?

Star Party: "Private enterprise will be made legal again under our new government. We will still nationalise a lot of businesses. The ones remaining under our control will be the businesses that wouldn't have competition and the railway system."
Liberal national party: "All businesses will be made privatised and businesses will be able to run themselves as the wish."
Unions party: "All businesses will remain nationalised. If workers want to strike the government must first have a vote on if we let them get their way instead of lengthy hours of negotiation."
Capital party: "Every business will be nationalised. And businesses won't have to follow laws either.
Mossulian workers party: "Everyone will be paid the same in our nationalised system."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office of Political Endorsements received a signal from a far corner of the universe, and upon review was determined to be a low-tech radio transmission from the nation of Mossulia. Thomas Felter Sommerwell originally dismissed it, thinking that the nation was far in the future by the time it got to them, but under pressure from the rest of the Ministry Council, issued this statement:

--OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS--

We in Frenequesta hereby endorse the Unions Party, as it is is the most agreeable, yet progressive party on the ballot.

Thomas Feleter Sommerwell

Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Frenequesta

Star Party: "We are intent on legalising gambling in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. We will make the legal gambling age 16 years."
Liberal national party: "Gambling will be made legal all over the nation and the legal age will be 21 years old."
Unions party: "Gambling will be made legal again all over the nation. The legal age will be 18 years old."

The party most willing to cooperate abroad would be the Union party and the Mossulian workers party.
Star party will also be fairly willing to co-operate abroad as well, they would also find it a lot easier to form a government.
The Capital party will be willing to join the VU if it forms, but no joining the currency.
The Liberal national party are too important to dither in regional affairs.

With they election over the neo-liberals the liberal national party take control of the nation. Although they didn't manage a majority, so technically it will be a joint rule between them and the Unionists. With this the parliament percentages will look like this:

Image

Along with that the other part of government a new whole government is formed. The ones topping the vote in domestic parliament are the Star Party mainly followed by the Liberal national party. With this the government is liberal/neo-liberal with what is now an economy minded freedom seeking parliament going into the future.

With this we will be broadcasting all the major political news from Mossulia. Along with any addition elections. Thanks and goodnight from Terry Pinpoint.

"The Trouble With Hobos

The Issue

After several complaints of the tripping hazards presented by sleeping bags on the doorsteps of public buildings, the citizens of Mossulia have brought the problem of homelessness to your attention."

With this issue in mind the government settled down to discuss and debate. In the end it was narrowed down to two options for the vote. Make businesses create jobs for the homeless or make hostels for the homeless to stay in for a while. The Liberal-national party and the vast majority of the government were wanting to create jobs for homeless people while the Union party who still controlled a lot of government wanted to make hostels. Creating jobs was made option one while hostels was made option two. Here were the voting results.

Houses of Commons
Option 1- 222
Option 2- 78

Top Government
Option 1- 33
Option 2- 17

Option 1 was therefore passed.

Liberal National Party- 24
Union Party- 11
Star Party- 8
Capital Party- 5

With the government back from national holiday week they had three issues to face. The first one was the issue for maternity leave. The second issue was to do with an issue with some people giving their children some pretty weird names. The third issue was to do with three press after someone bad mouthed the government. For the first issue the main party (Liberal Nationals) wanted to go for the option stating that they would give money to the business for the loss but give the six months. The rest of the parties were split. Here was the vote on the first issue (Option one is abolishing maternity leave. the second option was for paid 6 months of maternity leave. The third option was for paying the business for loss and giving six months maternity leave.):

House of commons

Option 1: 22
Option 2: 198
Option 3: 82

Top government

Option 1: 14
Option 2: 16
Option 3: 20

With things tied up there was a long debate until the houses of commons voters went for Option 3.

The second vote saw the options for names. The first option was create a government registry of names, the Workers party, the Star party and the Union Party supported this option. The second option was to let people choose whatever name they liked for their children, the Liberal National party supported this option. The third option was to give people a number, the Capital party wanted that option. Here is the vote:

House of commons

Option 1: 224
Option 2: 54
Option 3: 22

Top Government

Option 1: 24
Option 2: 22
Option 3: 4

The the third vote was over free press. The first option was to limit free press to protect jobs and peoples happiness, the Capital party supported this option. The second option was let press get on with it without government interference, the Union party, the Star Party, the Liberal National party and the Workers party (although they were split) supported this option. The third option was to nationalise all newspapers, the Workers party supported this option although they were split.

House of Commons

Option 1: 30
Option 2: 255
Option 3: 15

Top Government

Option 1: 4
Option 2: 42
Option 3: 8

Government Does stuff!

Postby Mossulia » Mon Feb 07, 2011 12:04 pm

After a few weeks of not doing much to government has suddenly done something. The reason things have been going so slowly is because the head of government (first minister) hasn't been appointed by a government election yet. The candidates party had to have at least 7 votes in top government or 75 votes in the house of commons, they must also be the parties leader. Once selected he must cut down top government to only 30 minister of his choice, but they must already be in top government. The election finished like this (Includes everyone in the houses of commons):

Star Party candidate: Carry Poko
Liberal nationals candidate: Jack Harris
Union party candidate : Lucas Davies

Carry Poko: 121
Jack Harris: 102
Lucas Davies: 77

New ministers board:

First Minister: Carry Poko
Second Ministers: Jack Harris and Lucas davies

Top government composition:

Liberal National party: 9
Star Party: 8
Union Party: 7
Capital Party: 5

With the new top government process finished the government is still business pro. The Liberal National party won't be happy with the minster election results as they were expected to win with the backing of the Capital party, but a lot of the Capital party decided to vote for the Star Party as the Star Party decided to help with business pro ideas. With what now seems like a weak government with a minister heading it with the second most seats it looks like progress isn't going to happen. With this now weak government an electoral reform was made. Now if you hold more than 120 seats you get to pick 80% of the seats for your own party. You then have to select some people from other parties to make up the remaining 20%. Also the Houses of Commons can only vote to dismiss a new law as irrelevant instead of pick an option on it. Plus foreign voting won't be included in future elections. Here were the results for bills passed today.

Bills passed are in bold

Waste laws reform:

Let companies get rid of industrial waste by putting it into rivers and the sea: 15
Let companies put their waste into new products: 3
Enforce stricter waste disposal laws: 12

Protests against expanding suburban expansion into forests:

Ignore and continue with urban growth: 14
Get the police to deal with protesters: 5
Stop Urban expansion: 11

Privatisation of industry:

Entire Privatisation: 7
Socialism: 9
Mixed Economy: 14

Politics today

Postby Mossulia » Tue Feb 08, 2011 1:51 pm

With the new first minister elected she faced her first crisis. The plan to re-capture Knoxville from attacking forces had failed, and now a large chunk of Mossulia was now under Silverian control. They were now having an election of their own and the dominating party wanted to destroy Mossulia out and out. Liberal Nationals wanted to keep the medical system private to divert funding to the military, meanwhile the Unions and the Stars thought that it would be better to keep troops healthy and happy. Also with the taking of the salt mines the economy needs a lift and the Liberal Nationals think that keeping the medical system privatised will help. The Unions meanwhile want to make it nationalised because they believe people come ahead of money. On a lighter note the council election results are in.

Two additional parties registered for council elections:

Name: Moral Democrats
Formation: Conservatives looking for a party due to the lack of conservative parties in the last election
Stance: Right-leaning ,conservative
Leader: Andrea Gold
Civil rights: Mid-low
Economy: Mixed economy/leaning right
Introduction of welfare: Minor welfare
Environment: No need for action
Religion: Christianity
Military: Increase funding

Name: Mossulian National Democrats
Formation: Mossulian Nationalists looking to keep the nation "pure."
Stance: Authoritarian/centre
Leader: Robert Weak
Civil rights: Low
Economy: Mixed economy
Introduction of welfare: Now. The weak are naturally low.
Environment: No need for action
Religion: Atheism
Military: Increase funding

Council results (There are 4 councils per constituency):

Liberal Nationals: 537
Unions Party: 208
Star Party: 205
Capital Party: 103
Moral Democrats (Only running for 750 councils): 61
Mossulian Workers Party (Only running for 812 councils): 52
Independent (Running in 712 councils): 34
Mossulian National Democrats (Only running in 112 councils): 0

Option selected in bold

Making Medical system nationalised

Make suing illegal against hospitals: 14
Let suing medical institutes legal: 7
Make insurance illegal: 0
Nationalise medical industry: 9

With another day in more issues have come in. Carry Poko today also gave a short speech on the war and how it was affecting the economy:

"The war has gotten out of hand. It obvious that getting it over as quickly as possible is in everyone's interests. The leftist MP's and ministers want the war over because it is hurting and upsetting the people, it brings down happiness level. The rightist MP's and ministers also want it over because it is becoming a major drain on the economy. Us centrists also want it over for both reasons. It's time that we started peace talks with the Silverian government. We will not stop negotiating until we get what we deserve. It's time that they apologised for their war crimes. Their death camps are cruel and are medieval. They believe we are scum and we must get compensation for the damage they have caused to our towns. It is time that we recover our economy, not just for the money but for the people!"

The speech came with mixed responses. The more patriotic politicians thought it was a wise more, while the more domestic based politicians who are in it to help the people of the nation thought it would have been better to be more informing. Now they moved onto the issues. The first one was about people smoking in public:

Ban smoking in public areas: 14 (16)
Ban smoking: 2
Let people smoke wherever: 14 (14)

With it tied the middle option was eliminated and option one won the second vote.

The second vote was on an attempted assassination of Carry Poko

Cut taxes: 5
Crack down on underground groups: 1
Tighten security of the first minister: 13
Tighten security of the entire parliament: 11

After a long break the government have managed to get back to normal activity. Until now the government have been preoccupied with the war and with the economical crisis. Things have been tough and preparations for the peace conference have left the normal functions of the government have been frozen until today. The first issue of today was on the admissions to college. At the minute minority students are being refused from large and prestigious colleges. Prime minister Carry Poko has said that "It's was wrong and unfair." of the the universities to deny the minority students entry. Here was the vote in top government:

Options selected in Bold

Allow equal chances for everyone in college: 12
Let universities decide on their admissions: 8
Allow everybody into college for free: 10

The next vote was on teaching other languages in schools. The left wing and centre ministers were wanting to teach more languages and the right-wing ministers aren't keen on teaching other languages.

Teach languages in schools: 16
Don''t teach languages: 14

The teachers union has been complaining about students discipline and want to use corporate punishment. Almost the entire government was opposed, expect a few more conservative capitals.

Allow teachers to use corporate punishment: 3
Making sure teachers are qualified to discipline without the use of violence: 11
Increase education funding to lower class sizes: 12
Abolish school and make children home-schooled: 3

With that the votes for the day there was one last thing to be announced and it was the new Mossulian cabinet. Here are the people Carry Poko picked:

Minister of War- Jonathan Bretch (Star Party)
Minister of Foreign Affairs- Julian Perrin (Star Party)

Minister of Transport- Beth Goteing (Union Party)
Minister of Education- Katy Johnson (Star Party)
Minister of Economics- Nathan Yaxley (Star Party)
Minister of Environmental affairs- Julie Haig (Star Party)
