Adab signs up, with our perennial champion Kinan al-Salaman expected to make his latest return to the WorldVision stage... in a somewhat foul mood.

Quick question: can I use an instrumental as the tune and add my own words to it? To be honest I don't remember seeing any instrumental used at WorldVision, just songs with preexisting lyrics that are changed/modified.

Yeah that's totally fine, and has happened multiple times. The defining feature of an entry is just the presence of original lyrics.

INSERT FLASHY COLOURFUL THINGS THAT WILL MAKE YOU VOTE FOR ME!!!

I strongly believe in a fair, transparent committee, which is approachable to anyone, and holds everyone in Worldvision in a respectable light. We should not jump to biases, and should always assume the best of people. While this does not mean letting people off punishments for breaking the rules, this does mean making sure that committee rulings are succinct and clear, with the ruling having been decided by a majority of the committee.

It's always good to have a fresh face in the committee, and I provide that. I have been in Worldvision since WV43, participating in almost all editions between then and now. I am committed to Worldvision, and it's future, and love to watch the participants change, new songs changing to old and new ideas coming into the mix, some conventional, some completely unconventional.

I also believe that Worldvision should be run smoothly, with limited committee involvement. This means leaving the tournament to the hosts to almost full autonomy, and allowing them to run their own contest, free from administrative demands. This is the mandate I will be standing on. I hope you consider my application for the Worldvision Committee elections in full light, and consider all the applications on their benefits and merits, choosing the nations whom you believe to be best to serve Worldvision.

Worldvision Committee thread for announcements and complaints?
Leaving exact scheduling up to the hosts (but with a maximum time period allotted for the tournament to be completed in

#Mercedini4WorldVisionCommittee

Postby Mercedini » Mon Sep 26, 2016 11:42 am

Everybody wants to be a part of a prosperous and vibrant community. Everybody want to feel like they can be welcomed with open arms and participate in an activity that interests them. Nobody wants to feel rushed into doing something they aren't happy with. So, it's more important than ever to select your Committee members and have your say in how this NationStates institution is run.

Hello there, I'm Mercedini and I'll be running for one of the five positions of WorldVision Committee member in the latest election. Now, I may be a fresh face to proceedings, but I have been an active participant in the last three editions, always engaging with faces new and old. I also have plenty of ideas to make participating in WorldVision more attractive than ever.

I believe the job of the Committee is to make proceedings run smoothly, but not encroaching on the freedom and enjoyability that WorldVision has to offer. In this election, punishments, authoritarianism and the role of the committee will all be hot topics that many will be interested or concerned by, let me tell you where I stand on these issues...

My main goal would be to ensure that the committee was transparent, operated efficiently and ensured that everyone were treated equally and fairly when it comes to achievements and punishments. Special treatment for certain members is totally against what I stand for, so it will be my main priority to ensure punishments are given justifiably and equally to ensure the whole community benefits from the experience.
Authoritarianism is something that I am totally against, which means more freedoms to write your entries, comment on other's entries and generally discuss how WorldVision is run. If I were elected, I would give members more access to the WorldVision Committee members, meaning members can always talk to the committee about issues that they have with the contest. This can be done with great transparency although general discussion can be arranged with the creation of a new topic on the forums.
As I have stated before, there is plenty of wiggle room and all committee members can feel free to voice their opinions and set out their stalls for what they want to see in the future. I have given you my thoughts on the issues that affect us the most, even if you disagree with what I have said here today. The area of discussion will always be there and that will be definitely be something I champion.

I love WorldVision and I would hate for the overall image and feeling of the contest to be ruined by the actions of individuals. I thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my brief manifesto for the WorldVision Committee. If you feel the same way as I do about this great contest, don't forget to vote for Mercedini as your next member of the WorldVision Committee.

Thank You.
