Esportivan Regional Bloc Planning Thread [Esportiva Only]

DEAREST nations of Esportiva,

For too long our region has known nothing but war and strife. From the plague of Corvidae, to the wars of the South Esportiva Treaty Organisation the men and women have not seen each other as brothers and sisters but as belligerents and enemies. If we want our children to live in peace and harmony, this must change.

The government of The Sarian invites any nation, no matter the blood-stained history between us, to join us for a conference in the city of Marlborough to discuss a new future for the people of Esportiva. A new world order. A new community of nations.

We intend this community of nations to come together in a unity - a community that works together to tackle global problems, a community that trades with each other, a community without borders. Together, we can stand united on human rights and we can work for an everlasting peace in the continent.

In unity, we can shape this community into something that works for all Esportivans, and we can work towards an ever closer union.

Please, join us in Marlborough and together we can bring the change that is needed in the world.

So, we've been talking about it long enough and I believe it's about time we finally got crack with this - even Rushmore has got into gear faster than us on this (though ours will be ten times better, obviously).

This is just a general discussion/planning thread on the matter, and I really hope it takes off. The current consensus is of an EU like structure, and I believe that's what we should start with. Though ultimately, we need to find a structure that works for us all and is sustainable going into the future. This is a great opportunity, and I hope together we can make it work.

Ultimately, I don't want anything rushed and I recommend we go slow to start with, over the next month or so before setting out concrete plans and finally a timetable for this being rolled out ICly. I'd rather this all be done slow and well, so it can last well into the future than being done quickly and eventually discarded with similar pace.

So please: share your ideas, register an interest and see if we can get some ideas floating around as to what this will actually look like.

How are you? I recently saw your communiqué and I can inform you that the Government is extremely interested in this proposal for any Esportivan Community. Needless to say, it would have to be ratified through referendum, but in the latest polls conducted, 60% were in favour of joining.

We are very interested in this proposal and would like to hear more. Thus, I will be attending the meeting in Marlborough.

I did have a general intention to start some IC planning of this at the WLC with the Council of Four inviting leaders to the isle of St Thomas to have a meeting and hash it all out, then decided to defer it to the Campionato as that would make more sense, but it seems you've beaten me to it Sarian

Apox & Mareibat would be interested in this in some way - Apox to be a fairly major player in it and Mareibat to hopefully receive some nice EC money to help them drag themselves out of their impoverished state

I'm also in favour - though I imagine we can do an opt-out.

My suggestion is that we do an IC 'phase-in', as I think the contention of bringing in the currency could be an interesting RP point for some.

Aye, that would make much more sense economically; a period where you could use both national and "Esportivan" currency before the national currency is phased out.

San José Guayabal interested on it, under the aim of being an important player in the Community, though at the currency part, the Government keeps away from it due to the strength of the national currency (Corona).

Hey guys. So I have a proposal for when the Esporitvan Community (or whatever it shall be called) forms. So as y'all know Felix has been out of it WC wise, mainly because Felix Balkanized following the end of the World Cup Felix co-host with Ytt. Since then Felix has been attempting to reunite the breakaway states through peaceful and constructive dialogue. So far it has been successful with 9 of the 15 breakaway states coming back to Felix. I think a great first project the newly formed EC could do is finish reuniting Felix. It could give the organization legitmitacy not just in Esportiva itself but to other nations outside of Esportiva watching what's going on here.

In my most recent RP about the EC, I mentioned that the member of the Federal Council who intended to propose his own version of the Community would have called the Esportivan currency the krone. This is also an OOC submission, but quite happy to defer to anyone else with a better name for it.

Krone sounds fine to me. Just throwing this out there, but we could just call our currency the Espo or Tiva? Kinda like how the EU does it with their Euro?

Thinking about it, since a lot of the regional stuff is in Italian (or Spanish or Catalan, not entirely sure), corona would make more sense.

The Federal Council (or certain parts of it) would likely lobby for the bloc to have some sort of sanctioning power over other nations in the region, though I don't how well that would be received elsewhere. Also, they'd lobby for a shared currency, along with some kind of trade deal.

After talking to Licen about this on IRC, I would think Gadirya would not be fully in favor of this.

The Gadiryan royalty and the mainstream Gadiryan political parties instead would favor a more moderate approach on what powers the Esportivan Community would have. They'd be in favor of trade deals in general, such as tariff-free deals on foodstuffs, but would against ones that would harm Gadiryan oil industry (i.e SJG oil vs Gadiryan oil). A shared currency for all member nations, but against complete free movement. They would also want to protect the sovereignty of the nations in the EU/EC and they wouldn't want to concede too much control to a regional organization.

The main reason for this position is the fact the government wants to balance and please both Conservatives (who make a majority of the population) and Radicals (who favor extremely broad powers for the EU/EC like Licen suggested).

Sorry if this post made no sense, I just wanted to show how moderate Gadirya wanted to do be.
