1. Random question: can I participate with another country?
2. Random question two: can I bid to host even though I cannot participate?

1. No, I've tried before
2. I was confused why you asked this at first... if you're not allowed to sign up I doubt you'd be allowed to hold a bigger responsibility... but there might be ways to get around this lawfully.

Well...you're banned from participating...not necessarily hosting. However, what's the point of hosting and not participating....doesn't make sense.

The brightest flame dies out first.

I just hope people will try to actually finish the stuff they promise instead of piling on stuff that never gets finished. Good for you for promising everything between here and space but if you don't even manage to achieve lift off, your host bid still sucks in the end and you've basically just deceived everyone. :p

It looks like you're using this name for your own bid campaigning, the "race" being not the process as a whole, but simply your side of it, right? Though, how many confirmed bids do we have for WV50 so far?

Would any of the committee be considering the possibility of shortening the time for host voting, I say this because:
- If we go by this current schedule, WV 50 will run into September which is when everyone (including myself) generally becomes busy again and considering it's an important edition it'd be better to contain it within August so we can have as much involvement as possible (or to prevent enthusiasm trailing off towards the end).
- In my experience as a committee member, nobody really votes for the host bids after maybe 3 days so it just seems a waste of time keeping it open so long when nobody is voting.

Well actually, last edition, the weekend saw a lot of people voting...a lot. I don't think host voting would make WV50 come any sooner. Instead, we can reduce the amount of time to post our entry;

How about;

Sunday 10th - Host Voting Starts
Friday 15th - IC Thread
Monday 25th - Voting
Monday 1st August - End of Contest

Making the contest come a week before. If we put the voting for bids...Monday to Friday...
The contest would start 19th August maybe to the 4th of September. Then a week of voting...

Well actually, last edition, the weekend saw a lot of people voting...a lot. I don't think host voting would make WV50 come any sooner. Instead, we can reduce the amount of time to post our entry;

How about;

Sunday 10th - Host Voting Starts
Friday 15th - IC Thread
Monday 25th - Voting
Monday 1st August - End of Contest

Making the contest come a week before. If we put the voting for bids...Monday to Friday...
The contest would start 19th August maybe to the 4th of September. Then a week of voting...

Having a shorter posting period in my opinion would be nice, especially for us who don't really have much to do during the holiday and thus have more time to waste working on our entries :p last edition I didn't know it was 2 weeks so I stayed up a bit late working on it that Monday... eventually only a handful of people finalized their entries in the 2nd week
This also means the WV event I'm having won't clash too much towards the end with RL...

I'll sort a schedule for WV49-51 by tomorrow (assuming that WV49 will be shortened).
