Yeah.
I use to think democracy was good.
But then I realised how stupid people are, and watched how so many voted against their interests, how they voted for the internment of refugees in concentration camps, voted to stop supporting Indigenous populations, voted to drastically reduce welfare, and vote to cut taxes to the rich and corporations but increase them for themselves. They were ordinary people, voting against themselves and society. Plus the media was so biased against the Labour Party.
As opposed to having one person who can be corrupted even more easily running things? Democracy is flawed, because humans are. But it's far less flawed than dictatorship. And power does corrupt.
Alosteq Diin Nastja wrote:But when the people are informed, democracy can be wonderous.
The thing is, humans are not perfect. They can be manipulated, with fear, hatred, etc. It isn't just politicians, but the media which manipulate the voters.
Look at the rise of the far-right in Europe today. They are becoming ever more powerful while the left is weakening, racism and xenophobia are on the rise. It's like 1933 all over again.
Democracy may be a good idea, but it is corruptible and requires each voter to vote rationally in order to work, something which never happens due to the complexities of the human brain. Obviously don't support the people having no influence over the government. However there are people who would be more suited to rule a country than the masses. Democracy implies that an ordinary citizen knows more about economics than an economist, an ordinary citizen knows more about healthcare than someone in the industry.
Democracy allows the ordinary citizens to decide the policy of the government, why would we let those who are unqualified decide government policy. Not only do they butcher the government, the majority often supports the oppression of minorities (ethnic minorities, religious minorities, the poor, etc).
And who picks the technocracy? They could get corrupt and not nominate the best people for the job.

I never said I favoured autocracy. It's just as bad as democracy; could be better but could also be worse.

Obviously you would have to have the correct qualifications for the position, and take a test with all of the other applicants.

Who grades the test? Who decides what's on the test?

Computers would grade the exams. There would be several boards of examiners, who formulate all the different exams.
Anyway, Democracy is so much more corrupt than this system could be. You have political dynasties, and politicians need lots of money just to get elected so are literally in the pockets of big business and the super wealthy (http://www.businessinsider.com.au/election-cost-2-billion-2012-12). Not to mention how the people are brainwashed as the corporate media always favours the more capitalist and right-wing candidate, along with the right-wing's tactics of appealing to more primitive emotions such as fear and hate to get votes.

Media in dictatorships tend to brainwash their civilians as well. Look at the DPRK

Yes. That is a good thing, it can be used to eliminate rightist economic thought as well as racism, sexism, queerphobia, nationalism, etc.

Oh damn that evil Austrian School!
It is a school of economic vandalism if you ask me.

Do you think that the North Korean media outlets do that? Or the Russian ones? Or the Da'esh ones?
Well considering North Korea is Nazi while Islamic State isn't even a state, those are incorrect comparisons. In the USSR they actively fought racism and sexism, the same in other Marxist-Lenninist countries.
As far as I know this is an ECONOMICALLY-ALIGNED alliance, not anything else. Refer to previous iterations of the UL thread for more evidence of economic alignment.

We're reforming as to make this a freer alliance. There is no need for dictatorship in the modern world.
Oh, really? Good. Then you can consider me interested in filling out an app. I'm a leftist like you guys, but I hate Dictatorships. In other words, I'm a Democratic Socialist.
