The Rise of Squeeheart (OOC, Steampunk, & Ponies)

Postby Squeeheart » Wed Dec 17, 2014 5:34 am

IC Link: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=324400

December 21st is here, the winter solstice and the holiday Squeeheart was founded on. In celebration the Monarch of Squeeheart, Jazz Squeeheart, plans to deliver a speech that will mark new plans for the nation. As a surprise she hasn't given the details, but Squeeheart's plans to tell of improving international relations as she wishes to invite foreign leaders and ambassadors in the capital of the country. This meeting with foreign figures is meant with intentions of forming allies with other nations. This, and considering a recent build-up of military forces, several political commentators have theories the Monarch is seeking to use military intervention, but for what reasons remain unknown.

Although security will be tighter than usual around Applecore, there is also the concern this rise of military strength and the Monarch's goals may create enemies among members of this convention. The Monarch herself has stated she is fully aware of potential enemies, but is confident the citizens of Squeeheart will enjoy this holiday regardless of whatever disagreements may arise.

This roleplay is created with the main intent to get myself back into the roleplay of NationStates, as various other roleplays have admittedly failed for a number of reasons. Another goal with this roleplay is to create allies with other nations (or possibly enemies) for future roleplays.

What are the rules for this roleplay?
1: Out-of-Character disagreements must remain OOC. Please do not keep posting if there is a problem; Bring it up here!
2: No violent events , mainly terrorism or other acts of war. (I might permit something like a bar fight though if you have my permission.)
3: No god-modding. Please control your own characters unless given permission from someone else on their people.
4: No details on inappropriate content.
5: Inappropriate language is recommended to be minimal. (A few swear words here and there are permissible though.)
6: Nations must be a technology level on par with steampunk or have a theme somewhere along the lines of the Victorian Era.
UPDATE: I've made an exception and am now allowing MT nations to participate. PMT nations or higher however will not be allowed.
7: Any sapients are allowed in this roleplay, such as humans, ponies (obviously), furries, etc...
8: Have fun and don't be a jerk!

I'm only allowing up to seven foreign nations in this roleplay right now, just so we don't heavily risk leaving out other nations.

Current participating nations (other than Squeeheart of course):
Arexia
Montesardo-East Adanzi
Novaya Equestria
Otulia
The Ponies for a United Equestria
The Selkie

I agree with this, Squeeheart. But should Novaya Equestria be on MT or not?
READ BELOW!

I RP as Novaya, a Human militaristic nation (cuz anime) and an archipelagic country. I also RP as the Novayan Stellar Commonwealth, a FanFT/FanFFT nation.
Please refer to me/my nation as Novaya in both IC and OOC, NOT Novaya Equestria.

Tag :3 Dieselpunk and FanT, ftw!
A FanT nation with a nekomimi majority. This nation, obviously, does not resemble my actual political ideology. Also note that I disregard NS Stats, please refer to my factbook for verified information.

Hmm... good question.

On the one hand, MT is typically more powerful than steampunk and offers a variety of potential. On the other hand, Squeeheart not only has steampunk, but also has pony magic. Combined this can create technologies and powers unlike anything an MT nation might be prepared for.

On one hand, in case we do become enemies this probably leaves us at a disadvantage. On the other hand, this roleplay itself isn't about war and we will probably have allies to assist us anyways.

On one hand, this is suppose to be more of a fantasy setting with steampunk. On the other hand, we are members of the World Assembly, and this is centered around the modern tech theme...

You know what? I'll make this one exception. HOWEVER, modern technology is the limit. Anything PMT or higher will not be accepted in this roleplay. Period.

Hey, I'm interested. It'll be my first roleplay ever, but I think I'll give it a shot.
The Republic's current technological level is more or less WWII era, so yeah...

I would be interested, too, and if needed/wished can change my techlevel to Steampunk. I, however, would like to stay MT in this.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

More or less WWII? Hmm... well it is close to steampunk in some ways, and if anything, it is below MT... Sure!

I would prefer this being steampunk, but if you absolutely insist on MT, well I'm sure it will be fine. Just keep in mind MT is the limit.

If you prefer steampunk, then I will play steampunk - your RP, your rules. It won't be any problem.
Would something along the lines of a modernized Vinci from Rise of Legends be okay?

When you saw "Combine this can create technologies ..." you're referring to Magitech.

I just looked at some images on Google because I don't know what Rise of Legends is... but I think I get the gist of this. Yeah, this should work.

Armetesia, Squeeheart has already been founded. This is a celebration of when Squeeheart was founded, along with the Monarch discussing her new plans on foreign policies.

Yes, I would think so! Oh well, I'll be MT, but I don't really see that it would be necessarily relevant, since it seems like this will be mostly character interaction.

Very true Otulia, but I've mentioned technology anyways because one of the reasons for this roleplay is to try and form allies. I just feel it is best to try and form allies with those of the same (or close to same) technology. MT I feel is far, but just acceptable enough. To be honest I might be messing this up already, but I'll just have to role with this.

It's okay, really. In the community you're setting up in, WW2 tech combined with magic is sufficient to counter MT, or so I've observed.

I am honestly tired right now, BUT I have created this link: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=324400

Change of plans: This celebration will last a week, since I couldn't get this roleplay started earlier. That's fine though; gives us time to mess around and have fun! Besides, trying to cram this all in one or two days? Doesn't sound like a good plan.

I might should have mentioned, that this is the first time for me to write steampunk, so I hope, that my introductory post on the IC pleases.

EDIT: If there are any questions, please feel free to say them!
