The Presidential Pressroom (OPEN, Pressrooom RP, MT)

Presidential Palace
It was a medium-sized room. The windows were oriented southward, to the city center: both the gleaming skyscrapers and the old houses dating all the way back to the Middle Ages, as well as the gardens. This room had been used for various purposes over the years, from the bedroom of some royal or servant, to a storage room to one of the offices for the President, and now, a pressroom.

Luziyca had always been open to the outside world: it had few major secrets. But President Breuvi Shjoraski felt that a suitable room was needed so the foreign press can always ask questions on this free nation. So throughout the past few months, it was turned into a pressroom. Now, it was the first day of the new idea.

An official under the jurisdiction of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Monica Thatcher was put in charge of this room: she was the Press Secretary for the Presidential Pressroom. Behind her desk were the flag of Luziyca and the Presidential standard, as well as a portrait of President Huswa Varanken. In front of her were chairs, with people occupying them.

She then says, "Welcome to the Presidential Pressroom. I am Press Secretary Monica Thatcher, and I am here to answer any questions that you may have of the freest nation in the world." Monica looks around nervously, then asks, "Anyone?"

RULES
  • If she answers no comment, feel free to pester me by telegram or by Facebook, unless if I say so OOCly; usually because of no idea of what your correspondent is saying.
  • You can have up to two press correspondents, but one is preferred. I will only tolerate three or four if you RP those that were present leaving and one or two more from your nation coming in.
  • No matter what situation Luziyca is in, your correspondent will always be protected.
  • All nations, regardless of their relations with Luziyca can send one or two correspondents, within the parameters stated below.
  • All members of Esquarium, both current (as in residing in the region) or former (having been on the map within the past two years) are automatically permitted to send them. In addition, several nations (Ruridova, Unicario, Bereia, Wisconsin9, Bojikami, Shrillland, The Vaktovian Empire, and Eeri) will be permitted to as well. Sondrians are also welcome.
  • If you got puppets, you can only have your main plus two puppets participating.
  • If you don't fit within the above parameters, you're not permitted to participate. Sorry.

Also, thanks to Unolia for the inspiration.

Reporter Ludmila Shvedova from Sakatian state-run STV was first to ask a question. "What will the Luziycan governments position be on the state of war between the People's Republic of Sakatia and Lemmrod and if it escalates will the Luziycan government intervene militarily or diplomatically?

Monica responds, "We strongly would urge peace between both sides and offer a safe hub for peace negotiations between the two nations. If it escalates, we will sanction the aggressors in the war."

A reporter for the Jornal d'Amerigo, Lésa Ferralios, entered the room and chose a nice comfortable seat in the second row from the back. The paper staff must be out of their fucking minds if they think they're going to make me do this... thought Ferralios. After the official's big spiel and the question from some other reporter she could barely care about, Ferralios decided to stand up.

"Lésa Ferralios con la Jornal d'Amerigo. Tènyo una quèscio." (Lésa Ferralios with the Jornal d'Amerigo. I have a question.)

Ferralios momentarily froze as she tried to remember how to speak English before her thought came back to her.

"Err... When does the next flight back to Porto Amerigo leave?"

She facepalmed. This was not what she expected, and shook her fist at herself and the President. He clearly should've saw these kinds of questions coming. Monica then said, "When you have done your job." She then asks, "Any serious questions?"

Ferralios scowled as she sat down, angrier at her boss than the poor soul at the podium. They had to give Anyamichèla the good job in Unolia and stick me here. It's almost like they hate me...

Cho Kou-No, a reporter and writer for the Qianrong Ministry of Information, now stood up and asked a question pertaining to both Luziyca and Qianrong. "Madam Secretary, it's well known that Luziyca and Qianrong have been allies for many years now.. with New Zepuha doing more to aid against the ASQ terrorists than Luziyca, Hsieh Jiang-De seeking some detente between Qianrong and Namor, and rumors of Koy plans to possibly aid Qianrong running about, is Luziyca worried that this alliance might end, or that the relationship between Qianrong and Luziyca might turn colder than it presently is?"

Monica replies, "We are not exactly worried. Unless if a sudden regime change occurs within Qianrong that threatens its stability, we will stand with Qianrong. Detente with Namor is actually the best idea that Qianrong has in store, since it has done wonders with us. As for the terrorism conducted by the ASQ, no comment."

A journalist from East Slavia Federation in Slavia stood up and asked the question which might be expecting an honest answer, "From the past years, there had been no communication from the Western Yivakos and Novi Luziyca, which now form the East Slavia Federation. Could there be any possibility for Luziyca and the ESF to have better and more growing diplomatic friendship beyond the past political experiences of the two?"

Not contented, she asked for another one, "What is your side regarding the launch of several armed orbiting explosive devices in the Slavian airspace? Also, what is Luziyca's consideration to the ongoing arms race between Quirinese nations in Slavia?"

"No comment," Monica said. (I lose interest in colonizing RPs and thus, I retconned my part)

Secondly, she said, "For your second question, no comment."

New Zepuha wrote:"What is the opinion of the Luziycan government of New Zepuhan troops being posted in Qianrong?"

Monica replies, "We are conflicted. On one hand, Qianrong is a loyal ally, and plans are made so that the base in Yucheng may be activated in the fight against terrorism and help free Chancellor Song. On the other hand, Qianrong is no longer as strategic as it once was, just like Sudalto: with increasing ties with Namor, some parts of the government want our base in Yucheng to be downsized like what is going on in Vyvland."

In the front row, Zachary Raines, the senior RWC correspondent in Western Esquarium fidgeted with some notes on his tablet, then launched his question.

Zachary Raines, Radio West Cedarbrook. We haven't heard from the Bethlehem government recently about the standoff in the Fjallmark Civil War. Can you give us a summary of your government's views on the state of affairs there, and what New Zephua and Dubrovka have contributed? What is your assessment of the current Fjallish government?

"We condemn the action of rogue Luziycan gangs in Jarkvensa, and we hope the situation is settled, lest the region fall into civil war."

It was almost as if nobody wanted to ask anything. Monica decided to try and set the topic, in hope of more questions coming in. She said, "Folks, the President is currently in Namor talking to President-General Fu Wen. Any questions regarding the summit or anything else?"

BNB International Correspondent, Jessica Hu, responded to the statement.

"Just a few months ago, the region looked set to fall into devastating conflict due to your government's actions in Eastern Esquarium, what has caused a sufficient improvement of relations between Luziyca and Namor to warrant these talks?"

Monica stated, "Well, last year, Congress passed legislation normalizing relations with Namor, and we had a summit in Bethlehem under President-General Wolf's administration. Now under President-General Fu Wen, Shjoraski has headed to Namo to try and discuss some issues, notably Nantai, and likely trade."
