Welcome to the World Junior Math Competition!
What is this?
The WJMC seeks to promote youth interest in math worldwide through a series of competitions: the National Qualifiers, the Regional Qualifiers, and the World Tournament. It's well known that math is needed to get nearly any career, and the WJMC seeks to enforce that and showcase the finest young minds in the multiverse.
What's the format?
There are two tournaments: National and World. Only organic beings (i.e. no robots) under the age of 15 are allowed in.
Each tournament has a SPRINT round and a CHALLENGE round. The sprint round gives participants forty-five minutes to answer thirty difficult questions. The participants must use resources to go through the problems quickly and accurately. The challenge round gives participants forty minutes to answer ten hard questions, as participants will need to work quickly to tackle tough problems. An individual's score is three times the challenge score plus the sprint score, while a team's score is the sum of their parts.
The National tournament pits your nation's finest minds to determine the team of four that will advance. You can have up to ten participants in the National tournament.
The World tournament puts your nation's best up against each other. Who will become the world champion?
How do I get in?
Simple! Any nation can join the WJMC, but it will come down to how well you RP and how you spread your points. Simply fill out the following application:
List all players in the format: first name last name (sprint score out of 24) (challenge score out of 24), e.g. John Smith (18) (20)
- Code: Select all
Nation Name:
Nation Trigramme:
Nation Coach:
Players:
NOTE: THE AVERAGE OF ALL SCORES MUST BE SIXTEEN OR LESS. NATIONS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE FORMAT OR GIVE AN INCORRECT AVERAGE RISK NOT BEING ALLOWED IN UNLESS CORRECTIONS ARE MADE.
How will this be scorinated?
Let's say Jack Sun enters with a sprint score of 17 and a challenge score of 20. Jack Sun's owner, Testlandia, did not RP at all.
Meanwhile, Ann Tony enters with a sprint score of 14 and a challenge score of 22. Tony's owner, Exampleland, RPed. I graded the RP a four out of the six points available based on quality, so Tony gets a sprint score of 18 and a challenge score of 26.
But wait! We aren't done yet! Next, the random number generator is asked to generate a number at most three away from the score. The RNG gives us scores of 15 and 23 for Jack Sun and a scores of 20 and 24 for Ann Tony. We calculate their scores to get 84 for Jack Sun and 92 for Ann Tony, so Tony would finish ahead.
