Uldartre academy (IC, Semi-open)

Postby Vakolic » Mon Feb 04, 2013 1:59 pm

Monday, January 8th, 2013

The officie of the high teacher of the Uldartre academy sat like a marvelously well-decorated bird dropping atop the large marble tower at the western side of the main building.
It's vantage point afforded it marvelous views over the bounteous grounds of the school, with its well-apointed sports complexes and fruitful orchards.

In the spacious office, in antique, uncomfortable-looking chairs, sat 5 people, an old man, 3 boys and a girl.
The old man, Miro Derali, sat behind a stout-looking old desk that seemed to be carrying a small library of paperwork. In the midst of all this squaller, however, he had a glint in his eye, like a child on the night before his birthday.
For it was on this day that his special branchild was about to occur: the very first foreign exchange program that the uldartre academy had ever launched.

The teens sat in a row across from him were the 4 people he had selected as 'Buddies.' They were, collectively, Blacksen domination, Liam O'clane, Jean-luc Gordavris and Laura Mccabe, and it was clear that they too were happy to have been selected, if they didn't share all of their teachers passion about the program.
"So, you all know what your jobs will be, don't you?" he asked the students.
"Yes, High teacher," Blacksen Domination said in his drawling, imperius voice. "We're to help get them settle in, make them feel at home. Show them some of the culture, learn about their cultures and turn them into nice little Vakolicci agents."
"The last one must be your final priority, Mr. Domination. Do you understand that? We're not trying to cause problems here, just let them know how our culture is so strong, and how their's is so sadly lacking."
"Of course," Jean-Luc said.

Out of the window, Blacksen could see several cars pulling into the car park, and...were those space ships? Yes, they were space ships. However, it wasn't as if he hadn't seen people from other planets before, he knew what to expect. They were mainly all human.
"Looks like their arriving," Laura commented.
"Then go!" Delari said, laughing slightly. "Mrs Higgins is meeting them at the door. You need to go and help her out."
"Sorry?"
"You heard me, Mrs Higgins is giving them a warm welcome at the door."
"Yes," Blacksen said. "The reason I said Sorry is because I was surprised that you'd given such an important job to a--"
"Mrs Higgins has taught here for 54 years, Mr. Domination."
"She's also losing the plot. Come on everyone, I wouldn't leave a houseplant in the tender loving care of Mrs. Higgins."

The 4 students walked in single file down the long, marble staircase before turning towards the large, polished double main doors, that stood open.
Mrs Higgins, a short, fat old lady was standing their, dancing from one foot to another. "Oh, their you are!" she said happily. "I say. It's so good you've arrived, welcome to the greater Vakolicci Haven."
"Mrs. Higgins, turn and look. We've lived here all our lives."
"Oh Yes, yes! I got carried away there. What's your name again?"
Blacksen sighed inwardly. How more famous could one person become! He was an international footballer, he had released a few albums, and he was effectively a Prince. It wasn't very hard to remember such an unforgetable name, was it?
"Blacksen Domination, Mrs Higins."
"Ah Yes, I remember now. Well, are you waiting for the international students?"
"Yes," Laura interjected before Blacksen could reply. "Derali's selected us to welcome them."
"That's Mr. Derali to you, Ms mcnabe."
"It's Mccabe, Mrs Higgins, remember? Laura Mccabe."
"Ah, her."
"Yes," Laura said, sighing.
None of them could help wondering why Mr. Derali had chosen Mrs Higgins of all people to welcome a group of international students to the GVH, Perhaps he saw some strange thing in her that nobody else could, possibly a mind.

Lucis grinned under his mask, travelling by car is sure interesting, not nearly as fun as by cables. He looked out the windows and sighed, This place looks interesting enough. Lucis nodded as he scanned the air content, he turned to address the driver. The dull metallic voice came from his respirator, "Your country is quite nice. But it lacks.... Cover... How do you people exist on the surface?" He chuckled slightly when the driver didn't respond. Maybe it fried these poor beings' brains. When the car pulled to a stop Lucis quickly exited, not bothering to address the rather unfriendly driver. He quickly looked around, noting the other vehicles and the architecture of the buildings. Well. It's not that bad! And it seems that a few other from other planets are here also! His mask stayed emotionless, but underneath it Lucis was abuzz with excitement. He stepped forward, eager to assess the facilities. He stopped before the four children and an odd looking old lady. I guess this is the welcoming party! As per his custom the metal cables that were interlaced with his nervous system extended from the large sleeves on his robe. They stretched forwards, ready to be interlaced with another so formal greeting and information sharing can commence….

Tito took a deep breath as the car he was in pulled up to the school. This was his first time outside of his country and he didn't really know what to expect. As he exited the car, he turned towards the direction of the building and took a good look. "Not too different...so far..." He found the building quite lovely looking, but he wasn't about to say that out loud. He then proceed to look at the people surrounding him, noticing that they weren't all human. "...Spoke too soon..." he thought inwardly. Taking slow, careful steps, he walked towards the building, noticing the group standing near it. He wanted to just get this over with, he hated first greetings. When he got close enough, he paused in his steps to bow towards the the older woman, before straightening his posture and standing like a soldier, like he was taught to do.
"Hello..." He tried to keep his voice as monotone as he could.
He then looked at the rest of the group, and proceeded to hold out his hand. He didn't know if these people shook hands or not.

Lucis turned towards Tito, making a strange clicking sound. The cables extended and looped around his arm before returning back inide the folds of his robe. A long silence passed, before he finally spoke. "Greetings, I see that you are un-agmented." Lucis nodded towards him, his blank mask showing absolutely no emotion, "So I guess you are one of us then... You know foreign kids." He laughed ignoring the offered hand, This is an interesting one..... He seems really stiff. My guess is he comes from some sort of military background. I wonder why he was holding his arm out if he didn't have anything to recieve information with. Perhaps they are more carefully hidden? "So what's your name? And where are you from?" Lucis pulled a mall rectangular looking object from his robe and morte of the strange cables pulled directly into it. The device had a large screen with the words: Input...... Waiting... on it.

"..."
Tito stared at him with a blank face. Well, this was getting interesting. He pulled his arm back and stuck his hand into his pants pockets. Un-agmented? What was that supposed to mean?
"Yes, I am one of the foreign students" He inwardly grimaced. That sentence sounded very awkward.
This strange person seemed very, well, strange. He looked at the rectangular object and all of the cables.
"My name is Tito Eleazaro. I am from the country of Wyztrkstan." He paused, observing the person in front of him. "...May I ask who you are? You don't seem to be...from here..."

The words appeared on the device as Tito spoke them. "Hmmm Wyztrkstan..." Lucis did a quick mental check, I guess New Cinpth's foreign relations aren't exactly welcoming, "I don't believe I've had the pleasure to meet someone of your country. The mask made a sharp wheezing sound, another burst a laughter. "I am Lucis Grene, of the Gist, number of 893113." Lucis nodded, "You are correct, I'm not from this place. I'm from New Cinoth." He puased for moment, Well, If I'm going to gain knowledge then I'd better ask. The cables extended again, "If you don't mind me asking; are you agemented? When you extended your arm I assumed you were, but I can't find any thing to link with."

"...Agemented...?"
What was this guy talking about? Wait. He said link. He has wires. Oh! Wait a second!
"...Do you mean that thing you do with the wires?" He paused again.
"Um...it's just a greeting. Where I'm from, people usually shake hands with people they meet for the first time, if they appear to be in their age group."
He paused again.
"...We don't have wires or anything..."

"I'll take that as you aren't augemented." Lucis grinned behind the mask, This is already a wealth of infomration..... I wonder what other strange customs these people have He nodded, "Yes, I was proceding to greet you. How else am I supposed to know about you?" he shook his head. "Shaking hands? Seems sorta personal..." he grinned behind the mask, I'm amazed at their openness, but if that is their custom so be it. Lucis extended his hand, which had the smae metal at cetain points and small blue lights at the knuckles and the joints of the fingers. "No wires? How are you supposed to interface with your machines? Converse with others? And why do you show your face, it isn't you meal time is it?"

Tito took Lucis' hand and shook it. He found this person interesting.
"...Well, we use our hands to operate our machines, and we just speak to each other to communicate, but we occasionally use technology, using wires seems kinda complicated...but were I'm from we don't speak English as our primary language." He paused. "...I'm pretty sure in other cultures they cover their faces, but most countries don't believe in that stuff. And to answer your question, no it is not my 'mealtime'."

Lucis grinned, "Hmm.... I don't see how you connect yourself to them machine but ok." His mask bobbed slightly, Wow... These people are kinda primitive. I wonder if they know how to best make use of their machines. "Using wires is easy! they are controlled by your thoughts. That's what make it so easy to interface with machines and people." He shrugged, "Well..... You speak it quite fluently. we speak English only because it is widely spoken, however most of us prefer to send messages over machines." The wires slithered around his hands, as if to reinforce the fact. Lucis pointed ot his mask, "Odd.... Everyone I've met, until now, had one of these." he paused, "well not this one.... This one is mine, but they had their own designs." I must learn more of these odd people and their ways. "So what exactly is Wystrkstan like? Do you have your cities on the surface like these people do?" He gestured to the school...

"Well the only reason I speak it so fluently is because it is taught as a second language in schools...it's a very useful language to know" He chuckled.
"Yes, we have cities on the surface. It's pretty standard." Where else would you build a city? The sky?
"...Well,my country is an absolute monarchy, as in we have a royal family. I guess you can say we are militaristic. Citizens are required to serve 5 years in the military..." He scratched his head, being careful not to mess up his spikes. He really couldn't think of things to say. He was just saying random facts.
"Military officers are highly respected, as are teachers, doctors and scientists. Um... our schools are required to have uniforms by law. Our capital is De Zangreto. The country is divided into 8 military districts. We have a lot of tourists, they usually come for the nice weather and all of the museums and stuff..."
He paused. He was rambling. Not good.
"We have one of the longest lifespans in the world. Probably because we don't eat a lot of junk and do drugs and stuff."
He wanted to get away from this topic. "Why do you wear that mask? It looks interesting..."

Lucis nodded here and there, "Interesting..... I'm glad at least one other country has a requiremnt to serve in the armed forces." He nodded, "I was personally looking towards the Engineer's core, like most others my age." He seems very knowledgeable about his country. That is good... At least they are proud to exist in the way that they do. Lucis twitched slightly, caught off gaurd by his sudden question. "My mask? It....erm... Well it is a way to show personallity I guess. We are allowed to modify our masks in any way we desire." He tapped it's metal plate. "It's also part of our religion; it reminds us that we are on part of an entire unit. It also functions as a respirator and visual aid." He paused, "In our country walking without a mask is more like walking without..... well.... pants. Unless, of course, you are in a private building or you are eating." Lucis looked around, "Do you know what this place is going to be like? I've never actually been to a school, but I hear they are quite...... dramatic."

"Hmm... interesting. Some schools let us wear jewelry or accessories to express ourselves." Tito unbuttoned his shirt and loosened his tie a little to pull out was seemed to be some kind of necklace, with four dog tags on them. "I always wear my dad's and my brothers' tags. I do it to keep them close, I guess." He paused. "We aren't really religious. In a world where many religions clash with each other, its best to keep out of it. I guess it keeps us kinda unified too." He turned his head to look at the building. "You've never been to a school?" He was generally shocked. "...Well there can be a lot of drama in schools, but it can be avoided most of the time..." He tucked in his tags and fixed his shirt and tie.

The car finally stopped in front of the school, it parked next to several other cars and next to a few... vehicles Vladim hadn't seen before. The ride hadn't been too long however Vladim found this new country strange in more ways than one, where were the loudspeakers broadcasting messages or the soldiers enforcing the law onto the cowardly traitors of the Emperor? Vladim wasn't too excited to be here but he had to do what he was commanded. Vladim stepped out of the car looking around at the others before walking towards the school, as he arrived before the greeting party Vladim decided not to extend a hand to anyone or bow instead he stood there paying attention to anything that was said.

"Hey!" shouts Leviton, struggling to be heard over the wind. "I think we're almost there!" Three metres away, Alexandra follows the boy's gaze to the city below. Both are piloting gliders, imbued with the magick of powerful Air Faeries to allow them to make the flight unassisted. The boy, though two years younger than his companion, has a lot more practice with the device, and is more comfortable in the air. Alex prefers to keep her feet on the ground, and is relieved to see their destination is finally in sight. Now all she has to worry about is landing... "Follow me!"

Levi leads the way, his red hair tied back in a small ponytail and his leather pants and tunic holding snugly against his body even at high speed. Alexandra follows him down, her raven-black hair hanging loose and blowing back hard in the wind and her taffeta skirt making an awful racket as it flaps about. She tightens her grip on the glider's crossbar, trying to mimic the movements Levi is making below her. The pair slowly circle down to the group, and about ten feet from the ground, Levi bobs a little to do a straight drop from that height, neatly folding the glider into a staff as he lands solidly on his feet. Alex simply lets go of her glider from around fifteen feet, dropping hard to one knee and scraping her palm a bit as she catches herself. Her glider skids across the ground into the street, where a car parks on it, shattering the wooden frame.

"Shit!" she exclaims, her honey-hued face reflecting simultaneously her pain from the rough landing and disappointment in losing her glider. The teen adjusts her corset, rubbing the tender spot where the top of the garment jammed into her chest. "Now how the hell am I supposed to get home?"

Leviton chuckles a little, but stops as soon as Alex narrows her hazel eyes and shoots him a look that just might kill. "They can send us another one," he says quickly. Levi was good friends with Rowan, as was Alex, but they were themselves not particularly well acquainted. The boy can't be sure exactly how far the notoriously fiery adolescent can be pushed before things turn for the worse. Apparently not very far.

"Whatever," she says, dusting herself off and looking over at the car that crushed her glider. The occupant, apparently another foreign student, had just gotten out and was heading for the small gathering already forming at the school. Alex and Levi both approach the student, who seems to simply be looking around, waiting for instructions. The girl edges into the student's vision and locks her hazel eyes to his bright blue ones, waving to him a little and gesturing towards the wreckage under his car. "Sorry about that. I've never liked the damn things, but it was the fastest way to get here. My government will pay for the damage to the car..."

Leviton, meanwhile, finds his gaze stuck firmly on the large pale man with a cybernetic eye and a metal respirator. He doesn't feel comfortable leaving his countrywoman's side just yet, but makes a note to get that guy's story later on...

Mrs Higgins walked towards the foreign students, a terrifying image in a distressing shade of pink. "Hello everybody," her sharp voice said, cutting through the noise that had ensued after one girls glider had been destroyed by a boys large car, which was not built to anything approaching Vakolicci standards.

"So, you're all here for different reasons, but largely for education and learning, which may or may not be the same thing. I admit that we're not the most organised here," by this point she was jumping from one foot to the other "But we've done a rather good job in teaching the best, or the ritchest, in this part of the world. We're ranked...um...I'll think...oh yes, first. That's rather good, I think."
Her eyes went from student to student. "You're all from different backgrounds, that can get a bit disorientating, but I'm sure we can get you settled. So, I'm going to leave you all now, in the incapable and possibly dangerous hands of these 4 students, they'll tell you what you need to know. I've got a lesson to teach, and it's 'history of the western Haven, and the western part of Tyrrhenia,' which is the most important subject you can ever learn. Well, bye bye!"

She went in the building at a run, before falling over. Blacksen rushed in and helped her up. "OK, OK. I'm fine now, sorry."

Andreas arrived at the school quietly on foot, taking in the strange sights. He saw many shocking sights on the way, but none more shocking than the sight of some of his classmates. He was still wearing his uniform from his Church of Saintland school and carrying his Bible in his hand. He still looked like a clean-cut typical youth from the Kingdom, but he was now in an unfamiliar environment in a strange, far-away land. His culture shock worsened by the sight of several non-human classmates, Andreas stood by himself trying not to draw any attention. He didn't know anybody here and this was a strange place that clearly didn't resemble his homeland at all. He listened quietly as Mrs Higgins spoke, wondering what exactly his mother got him into...

Volkard Schwartz arrived at a strange gathering of students. He glanced towards the other students arriving, and they all looked normal, all respectable. That was good, he wanted classmates from respectable backgrounds. He noticed several students dressed differently as well, and assumed they were members of the Uldartre academy, on the Vakolic side of the exchange program. He stepped out of the vehicle and wandered about the group, just looking around the place. Before finally stopping, and waiting for the crowd to move. When they did, he would move with them, but until then, he would remain stationary.

Unknown Location, Zentrum, Kershya

"Ready Alfred?" A man said to Alfred as he puts the bottles of blood in his enchanted bag before zipping up.

"Yes, the usual missions will be followed then?" He asked.

"Yes, its a Level 5 Reality, minor things to worry about, but nothing you can't deal with." The two then entered a room with large intricate magic circles on its floor, and walls, designed to form a three dimensional magic sphere, a spell as complicated as a program being used by a supercomputer. Alfred entered the center of the circle and the man move his arms to its position to the four parts of an individual, with a magic crystal on each hand. The crystals on his four hands starts to glow with the circles. The circles then form beams of light as a magic sphere form with Alfred floating at its center. The sphere then shrink before vanishing with a flash.

Uldartre Academy

Near the entrance, there was a sudden flash of light and Alfred stood there after it fades.

"Hello," He said in a somewhat bored manner, "I'm Alfred Sotarenov of the United Nine Constitutional Monarchies of Kershya. Have I arrived too early?"

While the foreign students had been arriving, the 4 selected Vakolicci students had done very little, until a boy arrived by what looked like teleportation.

Entrigued, Blacksen walked up to him, hoping to make conversation. "Hi Alfred, I'm Blacksen. You're not too early, most people have already arrived. We're just waiting from a few visitors from further afield."
Blacksen's voice issued, rather than errupted, from his mouth in a singularly confident and arrigant drawl, every bit the embodiment of the fact that noone could really be as good as the Vakolicci.

Meanwhile, Jean-Luc had spotted a rather innocent-looking boy standing alone, who still seemed to be wearing the uniform of some rather austere school that still held such draconian measures. "Sorry, I don't know your name," Jean-luc said. "I'm Jean-luc Gordavris. Is something wrong? Most people are stood at the doors, probably waiting for our high teacher to put in an appearance. He's cirtainly late."

Andreas was standing alone waiting for school to start when a tall boy walked up to him. Andreas thought the boy was not appropriately dressed for school, but for all he knew schools were probably different in this strange country. The boy introduced himself as Jean-luc Gordavris and asked Andreas if something was wrong. Andreas answered back nervously, "I...I...I'm Andreas Fadius. Nothing's wrong. I just don't know anybody here. I knew I'd be going to school abroad, but..." Andreas was unable to finish the sentence, but his facial expressions told the story. He was clearly experiencing culture shock.

The car sped down the road to a foreign academy in a foreign land. In the back rested a young Elipian, a boy named Jason Ayakimi. However, he did not sleep. He felt every bump and crevice on the road, every uneven slope and shallow turn, even the wind as it passed through the car's curves and edges. He has never slept since his home town was shelled to the ground and his friends raped and slaughtered all because they believed that praying to a god would save them.

He remembered the night the missionary chapel was burned to the ground. How he murdered the rebel officers in their sleep and set the building on fire. He remembered how the doctors and the psychiatrists said they all knew his pain and claimed they only want to help, only to say he was borderline insane once they leave the room.

Lies. All of it.

He refused to let it get to his head and eagerly joined the Elipian Military Academy. Despite his need to improve, he already found his fault. He excelled in theory, but he was unable to pull the trigger on anything remotely human-shaped. Not again. He was transferred into the Elipian Academy of the Arts where he embraced Elipian culture. He slowly began to climb out of his reclusive shell and began interacting with others, and making 'friends'. He became a Marxist and a political activist. But most of all, he developed a dream - he wanted to see the world outside the gates of the academies.

But his past continues to haunt him. it will never disappear. He joined the international student exchange program after another 'incident' occurred during a trip with his 'friends'. Those who survived refused to talk about it, and continued to avoid and distance themselves from him.

"friends" He clenched to the memento he wore around his neck. a small silver cross he received as a present. "In the end they'll all disappear, eh?"

"Hmm?" The driver looked over his shoulder curiously. "Nothing. just keep driving"

The car stopped at the front gates of the academy where the others were parked. Jason slowly opened the door and rose out of the back seat. He shut the door behind himself and felt the elegant curves once more before walking away. Uldartre Academy was, after all, faraway from the many lush forests and elegant architecture of his home he grew to love and hate.

He straightened his tie and patted his dark blue uniform blazer and walked towards the group of students of teachers

Lucis made a small clicking sound, "Have your family members left to join the foundry?" He paused, "How can you not believe in something? Well... To each their own. Their is a place in the foundry for all, even if they don't wish it." He turned to survey the new arrival, "I believe this will be most dramatic, especially with the pirimitive ones over there." He gestured towards the people who had newly flown in on gliders. Sharp, metalic laughter bubbled up from behind the mask. I'm glad my mask will keep me safe from their prying eyes. He shook his head as he watched Mrs. Higgins give her speach, "Well.... That was sure interesting.... Not the best first impression for a place of higher learning." He shrugged, This makes me wish the dark halls of the city even more.... stinging sunlight, wierd stangers and more... HeLucis turned suddenly at the flash of light, I should mark them for future study... Lucis pulled his hood lower, nearly obscuring the top half of his facial mask...

Andreas was disturbed by the thought of a place where people don't wear clothes, but was slightly more at ease now that somebody was talking to him. "Back home in the Kingdom, its against the law to not wear clothes. I remember one time when I went shopping and some foreigner, probably a visitor, got arrested for not wearing a shirt. The policeman must have hit him with his stick 40 times before he finally took him to jail."
