Citizens of the World, to those who do not know me, I present myself as a mere civil servant, a man of humble character from the Beastling States of Crystal Spires. After the First Ethereal Shift that forced my region of Mystria into the international stage I found myself intrigued by the wonders of the International Political theater being dazzled by the works of many different ideologies, races, and finding myself heartened overall by the kindness and solidarity of peoples throughout the world, but it was then I realized there existed something very wrong. Something sinister and beyond the nature of my own comprehension.

It was in my experience that Sapient Equines in the Beastling states were meek, gentle and kind. They are a race that prides themselves in the Ideology of Ponyism which seeks to encourage loving kindness, compassion, joy and peace. Their Elements of Harmony encourage the foundation of that peace-loving openness and tolerance for all beings and their love to sapient beings matched the boundless love of a Forntian Templar's love for justice and good. This however brought to light the depth of the shadows within the world where the ugliness of hatred, cruelty, unrest, and war have become a common rule to all nations, not just pony nations. Let this be incredibly clear, this is no condemnation of ponyism, nor ponies as a whole. This disturbs me in a deep way, but the affairs of realpolitik does not leave anyone exempt. This is the beginning of what introduced me to the nation of Hippostania.

Hippostania is a nation ruled by fear, fear of the Communist, fear of change, and driven to hatred, cruelty, oppression, inequality, and unrest. Hippostania targets Communists , calling for their executions as traitors and terrorists. They go beyond their own borders to threaten and blackmail world leaders using the lives of their people as collateral to end their lives for being a communist. Hippostania claims to be for freedom and democracy in words, but has in their actions declared themselves an enemy to freedom, Democracy, and equality.

It said in the Lyra laws that Hippostania executes those who are deemed treasonous or those who are classified as terrorists, all well and good until further thought is put into what Treason and Terrorism mean within the context of Hippostanian Law. Hippostania tried to execute a journalist for publicizing information leaked from an anonymous source, and this was called 'terrorism', because Treason and Terrorism is not clearly defined, it can be used for almost anything, and through claims of treason and terrorism we have seen the complete disappearance of the Communist Parties of Hippostania, and Hippostania's entire leftist parties have all but ceased to exist due to fleeing for their lives and those who cannot flee, the majority of them have been executed as terrorists and also as treasonous elements. There is also the Hackney Massacre of 1969, may we never forget the loss of the lives of the innocent people massacred unsolicited for no crime other than expression of their love for freedom and equality. Due to this direct assault on freedom, equality, and justice and the common welfare of all beings, we of Crystal Spires are organizing a protest, not merely a condemnation for Hippostania. This is a call for action. A call for Travel Blacklists, Trade Blacklists, and International Sanctions of the nation of Hippostania from every nation that loves freedom, from every nation that loves equality, from every nation that is for the good and common welfare of all beings.

Those who seek to stand with me as a brother and sister in solidarity need only declare it, and they can also adopt a position as signatory on this formal protest. May no nation be moved in the face of hatred, cruelty, oppression, inequality, and unrest. For some time, the Republic has considered Hippostania a mixed regime. Its constitution, on paper, establishes a representative democracy, but even as it pays lip service to liberty and freedom its government strips away civil rights and political transparency. It is effectively a one-ideology state, although there are multiple parties, the only parties registered appear to be far right-wing. Concentrated propaganda campaigns have created a political climate where even centrists cannot run for office, being denounced as "communists."

The downward spiral for Hippostania has continued, however, since communism was first officially outlawed. The "Lyra Laws" represent some of the worst offenses. One of the laws states that political parties must be registered with the government before they are allowed to run. They have effectively suspended the writ of habeas corpus as long as a suspect is designated a "threat to national security." Labor rights have effectively been stripped, and cuts on corporate taxes were supplemented by placing an unfair burden on the most vulnerable members of society.

Recent parliamentary elections were noted by outside observers to have considerable irregularities in the political process. The election appeared to have an implausible right wing bias, with the only left wing party allowed to run failing to gain a single seat. Foreign journalists have been arrested and unlawfully incarcerated on drummed-up charges of 'terrorism.' Upon receiving word that exiled Hippostanian communists had established themselves in the Iglesian Archipelago, this communication was sent, revoking the citizenship of otherwise peaceful Hippostanian refugees and implying a possibly genocidal attitude towards members of a certain political stripe. The government has recently sought to suppress information on the Internet.

As the abuses of power continue in the increasingly extreme Hippostanian regime, the Republic feels a message must be sent. Despite claims of bias on the part of the Crystal Spires due to recent history, Hippostania is, quite frankly, out of control. A one-party state that uses propaganda, misinformation, censorship, scapegoating of minorities, and intimidation to retain power does not deserve to call itself democratic, or even the legitimate government of a proud people who deserve better. Governments derive their power from the consent of the governed, and when a government no longer does so, it has lost legitimacy and deserves to be abolished.

Furthermore, Hippostania believes it is proper to invade sovereign nations to affect radical regime change and spread its twisted version of "democracy." To that end, Hippostania is clearly a threat to security and an international menace. Action must be taken, this nation must not be allowed to spread its oppressive ideology and Lyra's cult of personality anywhere in the world. The Republic of Hittanryan hereby becomes a signatory to the Sanction of Hippostania as put forth by Crystal Spires.

Wait, wat? We didn't fight in open warfare against Hippostania. They were willing to attack us and we defended ourselves against an Inquisition by religious extremists from Shrilland that would have killed the majority of Spirean citizens had we not defended ourselves, and we won the war without the shedding of Spirean blood. This war was one that would have been supported militarily by the nation of Hippostania when Lyra blackmailed Maven into surrendering his life to the inquisition in return for Hippostania pulling out of the Shrill conflict and sparing the Spireans from brutal attack. If anything the 'warmongering' has always been one-sided.

We had been hearing rumblings about this Hippostania nation for a long time. We thank you, Crystal Spires, for collecting the information about them in one place, and making it easy for us to see what it is all about without wading through oodles of irrelevant information.

Since we had seen many nations calling it bad, evil and occasionally insane, we had already figured that it was actually a good, upstanding, strong dictatorship much like our own or at least a good, upstanding and strong nation on its way to becoming a proper dictatorship. We are glad to have our suspicions confirmed.

We are glad to see how it is an anti-communist nation and does not confuse allowing the rabble to bring everyone down to their level for actual freedom. We can practically hear Hippostania's glorious jack boots from here as it works tirelessly to stamp out idiocracy and Communism's attempts to steal from its successful citizens.

We also applaud Hippostania's gutsy method of attempting to effect regime change without the need to send assassins. Of course, if any leader actually committed suicide because of such threats, that leader was too pathetic to live anyway. Therefore we also consider its methods to be an innovative way to declare war.

In sum, we now support Hippostania and condemn this sanction. We now offer Hippostania trade rights with the Empire of Victorious Decepticons to help offset any results this sanction will have. Of course, it will be up to Hippostania to remember that we are called Decepticons for a reason when dealing with our companies.

Hippostania is clearly a properly-run nation. It is to be expected that its inferiors will call it evil and insane. That is always the response of those who are on the bad side of good governance.

Prime Minister Tony Bacon and most of coalition supported the proposal but the Green Party were divided over whether to support it and they failed to win support from the Christian Democrats, who have sometimes been quite anti-Hippostanian.
