The Committee Board Room in the High Council Building in Caltris, The Capital of the Beastling States of Crystal Spires



The High Council Building's immense halls billowed with numerous guards and bureaucrats of Crystal Spires going in and out to their meetings and also filled with many different quorums as it was every morning. The sunlight brushed across the people's faces as they entered and it rushed through the halls through stained and clear glass windows filling the ornate Arches of the building's center with ghostly colors. Outside the smell of snow permeated the streets of Caltris as Eames Gromkin and Darrus Tethyr began clearing out the Council Meeting room for the Delegates of Union of Equality and Freedom. Both Observer and Member Nations would be arriving soon and they would want to be presenting their best foot forward leaving hot water for coffee or tea as the delegates would like along with a small gift of flavored crystal candies.

Eames stood tall as a treefolk, and he along with the young human Darrus Tethyr would be preparing the teleconference so that Maven Auryn, the High Chancellor of Crystal Spires who was still ill in Lanos recovering from his wing cancer, could speak on behalf of Crystal Spires.

On this day we mandate the creation of the Union that will strive to protect the sapient species of the cosmos and grant them freedom from the suffering that may be created by discrimination.


Charter of the Union
Races of Acceptance

This Union hereby mandates that for you to be a member of this organization you must adhere to the rights of full Civil and Political rights to any Sapient Race that accepts this coalitions existence. Any being that has reached maturity in a race, by Piaget's stages of development, and can pass Kohlberg's moral reasoning test, and is Sapient according to the Triarchic Model for Sapience by Robert Sternberg shall become protected as a Sapient species by the Union.Any Sapient Species that is under threat of genocide shall receive help the Union. This help is not limited to Humanitarian and can do straight down to Military Protection.

Required Freedoms

To become a member of this organization a state must adhere to this freedoms and provide these freedoms to all it's sapient citizens.

Freedom of Assembly:Everyone has the individual right to come together and collectively express, promote, pursue and defend their own common interests.

Freedom of Movement A citizen of a state has the liberty to travel, reside in, and/or work in any part of the state where they please within the limits of respect for the liberty and rights of others.

Freedom of and from Religion Everyone individual or community, has the freedom, in public or private, to manifest religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance; the concept is generally recognized also to include the freedom to change religion or not to follow any religion.

Rights of Customs Everyone has the individual right to leave a state and return at any time.

Freedom from Slavery No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.

Freedom to all Genders Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms without distinction of gender.

Freedom of Sexual Preferences Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms without distinction of sexual orientation or preferences.

Freedom of Political Ideology Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms without distinction of political or other opinion.

Freedom of Opinion Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms without distinction of personal opinion.

Freedom from Discrimination Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, species, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status.

Right of Regret: is a right made up of 2 clauses

"The Regaining Honor Clause:

Nations who have been cited for violations of the Charter in the past can adopt the charter and for a probationary period they can participate as an observer in the UEF, and once they have proven that they are loyal to charter tenets and that they will uphold them, they can reapply for full membership.

The Lost Honor Clause.

Nations who have already adopted the Charter and have been cited for Violations are booted from membership and cannot reapply for membership. They can only ever reapply for observership.

International Representative Sweet Heart walked into the Crystal Spires room. She had just left the Coalition of Ponyist States after Salvarity decided to step down from that organization and now she was back on the International Stage as Salvarities Chief Representative to the International Union of Equality and Freedom.

She Decided to sit down on her seat which was very close to the front of the table and started chewing on some delicious Crystal Spires Crystal Candy.

Chancellor Eames Gromkin looked at International Representative Sweet Heart without any sense of emotion traced upon his large face. Darrus Tethyr smiled and approached Sweet Heart and gave his warm greeting.

"Well met! I'm glad we've gotten everything done in time. My name is Darrus, I'm the Foreign Relations Minister of Crystal Spires. At the moment High Chancellor Maven Auryn is recovering in Lanos from illness, and will be Teleconferencing shortly but it is clear that he feels that there has been a shift from the ideological necessities that we have to make on behalf of our people with regards to the Coalition of Ponyist States and LUNA." Darrus said with a grim look.

"I'm sure you know of what I speak of. Before our Chancellor was stricken with illness he was threatened in LUNA for promotion of Human Rights amendments to the Charter, and the Coalition of Ponyist States has fallen from it's ideal mission of protecting all pony-kind and promoting the Elements of Harmony and in its place there are speciesists and warmongers. This greatly saddens the High Chancellor and he is happy that this new International Union of Equality and Freedom has been proposed."

Captain Drake stood in front of the massive building before him, adjusting his uniform, his unarmed escorts stepped out of their vehicles, most were human like him, but there was a pony, a large lion and even an AI, one of Durmatagnos pride and joys, the AI was another representative, representing the more technological side of Durmatagno, she came up from her holder in Drake's hand, looked around, nodded curtly and sank back inside before. Stepping inside the building, he got directions to where he needed to be as his escorts were told to wait in a side area where they relaxed and drank, talking about the state of the world, stepping into the are he was directed, he took a brisk look around before taking a seat and calling out Sonya at her place next to him.

Sweet Heart walked up to Captain Drake and said "Hello there and thank you for coming. We hope this is gonna be a great meeting for both our Nations and all of the Union."

"Hail and welcome! Maven would appreciate your arrival as will Crystal Spires. At the moment we can take the the time to relax and enjoy the company. It is a rare moment when there isn't some sort of mad argument in all my other duties. I swear when I did my apprenticeship under my predecessor I wondered why he had so many grey hairs and now the lucky bastard retired in the Tabrilian coast leaving this madhouse to me." Darrus chuckled as Eames Gromkin struggled with the computer hookup.

"This....blasted....metallic box. Why can't anyone invent a treefolk friendly plug?" Eames grumbled frustratedly as he tried to untangle the wire from his branches. "Blasted spawn of Zaiden...krgh...."

A convoy of cars pulls up to the entrance of the The High Council Building. The Representative of the Alpha and Delta Pact Everett Young steps out of the black 4x4 and walks through the huge wooden studded doors of the High Council Building then stops to admire the architecture of the High Council Building. After admiring the architecture he walks over to Chancellor Eames Gromkin and International Representative Sweet Heart shakes there hands and says "This is a great day for the Union."

"Indeed." Eames said as he cracked into a rare smile. Eames was normally a counter to Maven and his rather naive and and idealist ways with his serious and practical manner so he could hardly ever be seen smiling.

"We do not intend to allow hateful elements to thrive in this Organization." Darrus said with mild exasperation. He too was tired of the madhouse that was the international world stage.

it is perhaps why Crystal Spires was selected for this meeting. Our nation is a very healthy mix of races and ethnicites from all around. All are regarded and treated with the same rights and protections guaranteed in the Spirean Bill of Rights.

"We take our commitment to equality and freedom very seriously. It is why we immediately acted to join this Union." Darrus said to Captain Drake with a smile. "Moreover is an honor to meet you."

A pair of Jaakola Firefoxes pulled up to the entrance of the council building, parking directly behind the cars from the Alpha and Delta Pact. Out came a pair of tengu, one male, the other female. Erich Andressen and Ilsa Fuhrmann, the representatives of the Grand and Eternal Empire of Karlsland. The two of them sitting down, Ilsa took some time to look around the room, examining the ceiling more closely.

We of Crystal Spires on behalf of the International Union of Equality and Freedom reject your application because they do not represent the very core of what this alliance stands for. We will not sacrifice any of the freedoms or provisions to protect equality in the charter as they are the raison d'être of this organization and no exceptions to the rules will be granted in member states, and in an observer it is crucial that these freedoms be protected as well otherwise there will be unnecessarily divisive ideological conflict.

A small group of well dressed men entered the building.Among them was President Alex.
The 20 year old Communist was now using a walker and permenantly scared after the Assanination attempt.His eyes were still full of determination as he walked through the halls.

Just as Eames managed to get the computer plugged in Maven peeked into the meeting room, and he looked surprised to see Maven as he entered the meeting room. He looked pale and weak, but he was much better than when he had seen him before. His recovery from Cancer would be long and arduous.

"By the Gods, Alex you're alright." Maven said as he approached President Alex with a smile as he shook his hand happily. "I intended to tell you in person that I am going to come to your bodyguard's funeral since now I'm out of the hospital. I would ask you how your visit was, but I suppose your circumstances have become radically different. How're you holding up?"

"Pretty Good."He threw the walker to the ground."I don't now why my doctor want's me to use this thing.Everyones freaking about my sucerity though. Hardliners in the Communist Party don't even whant me to attend the Supreme Soviet anymore.

“Just another day at the office.” Muttered shadowian delegate Santiago Delas, as he rounded one of the High Council Building’s immense columns and entered yet another of it’s many wide bodied hallways. "Yep, just another day..." Delas, while a minor Shadowian diplomat when it came to international relations and foreign affairs, was a man of immense wealth and well known for his far reaching power back in the Shadow Corporation, a former combat veteran of the 3rd Peacekeeper Corps “Misfit” Battlegroup and author of several books relating to the volatile nature of international politics and the common soldier’s relation to them from experience during his own time in the corps.

Before finally reaching what he supposed was the Union of Equality and Freedom’s conference room, having dressed himself in a sharp suit and insured he was clean shaven for the occasion, he entered the conference room carrying a briefcase in one hand, and sipping from a cup of coffee blacker then the time of day back in the Shadow Corporation at the present moment, with his free hand. A shadowian Ministry of Peace issued shoulder bag adorning his side as he did so and speaking all the while. “Greeting gentlemen, I trust this is the Union of Equality and Freedom’s meeting place for the day?”

Maven looked up and smiled, "You've found us. I'm glad you've come. We were just discussing about a certain incident. Most unfortunate. Lately Socialist leadership has been targeted excessively and President Alex of Archnar was the victim of a vicious attack that claimed the life of his bodyguard. It was most unfortunate." Maven said as he bowed," and what manners have I? I have not even introduced myself to anyone. I am High Chancellor Maven Auryn. I was letting Chancellor Eames and Minister Darrus here set up the materials as I am still rather weak, but well enough to attend meetings and quorums."

*A group of suited men and women walk into the hall with the Aravean President Kei Nagase leading the way. She is flanked by two bodyguards clad in combat armor. She walks over to President Alex and proceeds to greet him. The two bodyguards head towards the door and take up positions to either side.

Gathering whatever an informed grasp he could upon the international situation, Delas set his belongings atop the conference room's table and nearest to the seat he supposed he would be taking for the reminder of the conference, speaking all the while. "I see, and such a shame it is when those who wise to undermine the efforts of a sovereign government, and sound ideological principle seek violent means to do it so." 

Realizing how his current behavior could very well be judged in this situation, Delas turned his full attention back to the pair. "And but of course, it is me who is lacking in manners." Giving a humbled bow as a gesture of greeting he continued. "High Chancellor Maven Auryn and President Alex. I, Santiago Delas, on behalf of the Democratic Monarchy of the Shadow Corporation, am truly honored to meet you both."
