Vuhifell Scores Big Win Against Tuskenjaar

Postby The Vuhifellian States » Tue Aug 16, 2011 1:15 pm

Office of the Council of War

After the imprisonment and execution of Vuhifellian civilians by the Kingdom of Tuskenjaar (flag pictured below), the Vuhifellian Eleventh Fleet was dispatched to the region to bring the perpetrators to justice and cripple the Kingdom's military threat to the Federation. Led by Admiral Constantine Ivret, the fleet bombarded the kingdom with air and missile strikes for four days on end, targeting both military and civilian strategic infrastructure. Just before an invasion force of Vuhifellian Marines was sent in, the King offered terms for surrender, which were quickly ratified by the Council of War. The Eleventh Fleet has taken both General Saurfang Manhowers and King Benjamin N. Petrochko of the Kingdom of Tuskenjaar as prisoners and will transport them back to Vuhifell, where they have been indicted for murder and waging war against the Vuhifellian Federation. They face the death penalty if convicted.

Admiral Ivret has been awarded the Navy Cross by President Steven Daniels, who called the admiral "a true Vuhifellian patriot, hero, and defender of the Federation." Admiral Ivret is notable for being the highest ranking Greykan Kazan in the Vuhifellian military, and his quick and bloodless victory over Tuskenjaar is expected to radically improve race relations here at home.

Vuhifellian Federation Accepted into SOIN

Postby The Vuhifellian States » Wed Aug 17, 2011 7:05 pm

Bright Hill

Following its application to join the Strategic Orbital Interception Network, the Vuhifellian Federation was unanimously confirmed to be its newest member, signalling a major political victory for President Steven Daniels and future presidential hopefuls in the military. SOIN is expected to increase protection of the Vuhifellian Federation against ballistic missiles and expand coverage of its satellite detection network from beyond the main continent to over 80% of Vuhifellian territory.

Bright Hill Chief of Staff Olivia Meier was nominated by the president to act as Vuhifell's first representative to the organization and tendered her resignation earlier this afternoon. Many prominent figures in Vuhifellian politics and finance have rushed to fill her position. Saint Archer mayor Julian Hal-Serifum is seen as the front runner to succeed Meier. Press Secretary Jennifer Harper has announced that the president will make an official announcement regarding the matter next week.

President Signs TRADER Act

Postby The Vuhifellian States » Wed Aug 17, 2011 7:29 pm

Bright Hill

President Daniels signed into law today the Tax Reduction and Domestic Economic Relief (TRADER) Act. The act has significantly reduced federal income, corporate, and sales taxes and opened significant portions of the Comona Archipelago as well as James Bay open for hydrocarbon exploration. Economic leaders all over the Federation have called the tax cuts in the bill "the first step in expanding Vuhifell's interests and influence." Other sections of the bill include abolition of the Federal Office of Oil Management and the James Bay Arctic Preservation Fund.

One particularly controversial section of the bill includes its measure to reduce non-private social security payouts by over 75% as well as denying the option of government mandated social security to those outside of provincial boundaries. The exclusionary provision prevents over 300 million citizens across all federal states, territories, and the colonies from collecting federal social security. President Daniels justified that exclusionary provision by stating that the added incentive of regaining federal social security eligibility should force the populations of the effected zones to "harass their local governments until they are ready to adopt all measures necessary to become a province of the Federation."

Several court challenges have already been filed against the exclusionary provision, and several thousand protests have erupted in major cities and across the Internet calling for the president's ouster. The federal states of Shayne and Shayne Hills have also threatened to repeal several of their unification laws. While not expected to follow through on the threat, it is still seen by analysts as a major snub to the current administration.

Stocks of all major private social security holding companies, including Equitable Life, StarFund, and Vuhinvest have jumped upwards of 400 points on all major indices following the president's signature.

Vuhifell to begin Military Occupation of Tuskenjaar

Postby The Vuhifellian States » Sat Aug 20, 2011 12:34 am

Following its military defeat by the Vuhifellian Eleventh Fleet, the interim government of Tuskenjaar has requested for a Vuhifellian military occupation to restore order to the fractured nation. President Steven Daniels approved the request, and has appointed Admiral Constantine Ivret, hero of the Tusko-Vuhifellian War and commanding officer of the Eleventh Fleet, as the nation's military governor. The admiral has subsequently resigned his command of the Eleventh Fleet, with Rear Admiral James E. Shade expected to take command.

Military officials in North Point have confirmed that the Vuhifellian 9th Army, led by General H. Wallace Stone, is to be the garrison in charge of pacifying Tuskenjaar. Its 160,000 soldiers are expected to deploy within the week.

The official objectives of the occupation shall be to democratize the regime, liberalize the economy, and introduce Vuhifellian values and economic development to the country in an effort to align the nation with New Hivez. Legislators in the Federal Congress overwhelmingly agree that, upon Tuskenjaar's successful Vuhifellization, it should be readily welcomed back into the international community as an important and prosperous nation.
