Zhouran Central News Agency Motherland Liberated from the Infected Brave soldiers of the Zhouranese People's Army liberates the nation Decontamination troopers from the 2nd Mobile Special Infantry Brigade of the Mobile Special Infantry Regiment 33 in the outskirts of Anjing during cleanup The Zhouranese archipelago is now free from the unknown virus, thanks to the dedications and sacrifices of the Zhouranese People's Army. After a day and a half of intense fighting, the large swarms of the infected who have once filled the coastal areas of the islands of Yongjia and Yongkang have been exterminated. Although the number of people who have died from the epidemic in the nation is unknown, it is estimated that the casualty rates is around 134 - 156 million. Up to 3.4 million active and reserve soldiers from the ZPA have died fighting the infected, while millions of soldiers from the National Patriotic Guards provided support and reinforcements while losing an estimate of around 4.1 - 5.3 million members. The damage caused by the epidemic is extensive. The State Presidium has stated that the cost to rebuild will be "in the billions." Currently, the whole population has been mobilized to rebuild, while the Zhouranese People's Army is hunting down any isolated pockets of the infected. Comments (0)

This is the Wartime Broadcasting Network. All stations shall transmit this official message. The following message is broadcast at the request of the National Civil Defence Administration.

The voice changed from the monotone computer to a real, human speaker.

Ctitizens who have made it through the night; good morning. At 0900 hours this morning, Supreme Federation High Command declared victory over the infected, and announced an immediate cessation of all active combat operations. Continued efforts to distribute the cure internally and abroad have proven successful, and it is estimated that global infection rates will be reduced to pre-outbreak levels within a few days.

Although casualties to federation personnel have been minimal, the cost to our infrastructure and essential services has been high. As a result, the state of emergency will be extended until further notice while the nation transitions back to peacetime. In solidarity with the millions who have been affected, Chancellor Campbell has declared a day of mourning. Normal service is expected to resume on Wednesday.

Cobb Island, Northwestern Sector

Upon hearing the fragmented announcement on the beaten up civilian radio, Captain Wehrner merely laughed. The radio was not loud enough for the other soldiers to hear the broadcast above the crackling fire of dead corpses, so the Captain's laughter seemed out of place.

"What is it?" One of the soldiers asked.

"I think he's gone 'round the bend." A seargeant deadpanned. "Too long in the field'll do that to a man."

"Nah." Stated the captain, calming himself down. "We won."

"Oh really?" Intoned the first soldier.

"Yep." Captain Wehrner affirmed. "Minimal casualties too. Big parades I expect. Lots of medals all around."

The captain sat down on a makeshift bench beside his men, and took out a contraband flask of liquor. He raised it briefly, considering some sort of toast to victory, or the cure, or something. Instead, he simply took a swig, and sat in silence.

IMPERIAL COUNCIL BROADCAST:

Emperor Catherine: Attention, all citizens. At 7:14 PM Imperial Standard Time, all known zombies within the Empire of Ammerinia were either cured with experimental technology, killed by government special operatives, or were vaporized by antimatter bomb strikes. As of right now, martial law has been lifted, and state of emergency is no longer in effect. Any of you whom have evacuated out of the country may come back, and all emergency personnel are to initiate recovery and resettlement operations. The minister of Health will take over explaining.

Health Minister Nërrick: Thank you, emperor ma'm. From this point forward, the curfew between 1 PM to 10 AM has been lifted, and emergency zombie defense protocols are no longer in effect. Rebuilding operations are underway in all affected areas. The digivirus has been cured along with the zombies, so internet communications will be turned back on. However, during this time, you are not to interact or touch any zombie corpses you see. Emergency personnel in your area will come along and collect them.

Unfortunately, we were not able to contact Bohn Joliver, our correspondent in New Eden. He's likely been killed, as the antimatter warhead hit only a block away from his news studio. The Homeland was infection free, the island was ash, and the IMAS Taylir, along with what remained of the 32nd Marines finally set sail for the homeland, after an extensive decontamination process, was finally on their way home. Unfortunately, there were casualties, such as Minister of Health John Delhi, Colonial Magistrate Dimitri Spasko, among others. Dr. William Hauser and three members of his team survived, however. As per instruction, the island and surrounding waters were placed under quarantine.
