Zombies? Challenge accepted. But, nay, I take your zombies and raise you Star Wars' own Imperial Bioweapons Project I-71-A.
Beat that, zombies!

Warning: Nightmare Fuel if you're a sci-fi fan.

Anyways, if the I-71-A Virus entered your nation, instead of zombies, how would your nation handle it?
I think we'd handle it quite well. I mean, it doesn't seem all that threatening. Sure, it might have a near-100% chance of infection rate, and an almost exact 100% chance of mortality, we should be fine. Maybe. Hopefully.
God help us all.

Wait... Star Wars had a virus to create Them... and it is canon? Really? Uh... Okay...

What was the question again?

Right. That. Well, uh... Probably die. Very badly and messily. It sounds pretty bad. That being said, I cannot imagine any nation (real or NationStates) could handle an actual outbreak of Them successfully.

The Coalition of Sovereign Nations is a group joined together to work towards a common goal: the preservation of every nation's Rights of Self-Governing against those who take it from them. Whether you would like to take an active part in this endeavor or whether you simply want to get away from all those regions and organizations intent on changing your nation, this Coalition is for you!
Signed, sincerely,

How would we handle it?
IDK, pretty okay, I guess.

The Bioweapon "I-71-A" is often referred to simply as "The Sickness", for future reference.
As for how you other two would handle it, I'm not sure protection would be very beneficial. Considering that it mutates as well as zombifies, the Sickness' zombies would more-than-likely bite through the armor. And one bite means seconds to minutes until full mutation and zombification of the bitten/infectee.
But, I'm not sure. Who knows. That should be an RP. Not sure if it'd be in ZECC or P2TM though.

A grizzly bear has a bite force of ~8.0MPa, the soft part of my armour (C.darwini silk) has an average max. breaking stress of ~1.85GPa (±350MPa).
Basically, whilst infected organisms with a high bite strength, (eg wookiees), might break some bones if they manage to get their jaws around some part of a soldier which isn't also protected by hard armour, they're not going to be able to pierce the armour and infect someone with their jaws alone.

Of course, I said might because it depends on what species are allowed in your nation, etc. The Sickness, however, doesn't have a limited airborne lifespan.
This is because it can infect plant matter, mutating it to the point where it'll produce infectious pollen, etc. spreading the disease for a much longer span of time than a disease that only spread through the air. Not only that, but this disease has shown collective intelligence (from what I've read about it). In other words, it's similar to the Flood, in that the more infected there are, the smarter all of the Sickness' zombies get. Pretty sure I read that at some point, the zombies learned to use guns and ships.
So, there's that, working in their favor. They can shoot back, once enough are infected.

You didn't say that they "might", you said that they "would more-than-likely".
Anyway, I read the wikia article, and I'm well aware of the crazy infectious spores and virus-aerosol that the sickness can produce. I was only disputing the point where you said that it would be possible to bite through armour.
Incidentally, in the case that they can shoot back, it'll just be like facing another armed force, albeit with less individual agility and tactical ability.

Well, they're only shooting you to try to punch holes through your armor. Or to injure you to the point where you can't run. Then they bite you, making you join the Horde.

Wouldn't it be easier to just shoot-to-kill and reanimate the bodies?
I mean, if the sickness wants to engage in a firefight with an organised, well-trained, well-equipped fighting force, and only shoot to injure, then that just makes things easier for Team Living.

After all, if you are injured in the legs, you can always be extracted to quarantine by your buddies; the infected still have to reach you to infect you, and that involves making their way past your uninjured friends, who will still be protecting you.
Also, it's doubtful that they could open up a hole big enough to bite through without taking a limb off altogether.

True, but the Sickness has no cure. Even one drop of spit, bite, etc. you're done. Dead. Poof. Might as well leave you behind.

Well, it does have a vaccine in the Star Wars cannon. Although if you were doing an RP, I'm sure you'd have to spend a considerable amount of time 'researching it' before you can use it.

However, the infected still have to reach you to infect you, and to do that they still have to make it past everyone who has a gun who can still shoot back.
So, even if you are hit, it wouldn't necessarily mean that you should get left behind.

That's true. But, remember, if an RP were to take place with the Sickness, then it'd be realistic for them to not know it was airborne until... well, their "first responders" end up infected from breathing in the Sickness' infectious air. You know, I might do an RP on P2TM involving the Sickness. Say a meteor crashed on earth, and began infecting people with the alien disease. Or is that too cliche? Hmmm.

Such situation would warrant a evacuation contingency plan omega. Hundred and fifty three high value individuals, in addition to member of the government would be contacted and invited for a national security briefing where secure transport is provided in means of an automated personal aircraft. While sickness progressed, these individuals would be in a secure facility in an undisclosed extraterrestrial location alongside biological samples and materials deemed of high national value. Once sickness subsided, and undead were no longer a threat due to sufficiently degraded motor control return trip would be made and re-population efforts would begin.
On bright side we would have claim to much more of the planet at this point.

All my dudes have an atmospheric monitoring kit which would shut the helmet's air intake instantly and cause the back up oxygen supply& rebreather air circuit to kick in, (based on how Isaac's RIG responds to entering contaminated air in chapter 6 of Dead Space).
I've also been tinkering with the idea of some sort of heating element/ UV lamp which sterilises all air entering the prefilter.

As well as this, according to the Wikipedia article on biological warfare, particles/ spores (like anthrax) need to be big enough to be caught in the lungs, yet small enough to be dispersed as an aerosol. This means that the spores have to be between roughly 1.5 to 5 micrometers. All it would take was a filter which is capable of catching particles between those sizes.

As for an RP, what about- a comet gets detected entering the solar system for the first time, and organic compounds are detected in its tail. Scientists, eager to see if this can prove that the basic building blocks of life could have formed outside of Earth, send up a satellite with landers which can retrieve samples of the comet's tail and ice and bring them back to earth.
The samples brought back to earth contain the Blackwing Virus engineered long ago in a galaxy far far away.

I think we'd handle it quite well. I mean, it doesn't seem all that threatening. Sure, it might have a near-100% chance of infection rate, and an almost exact 100% chance of mortality, we should be fine. Maybe. Hopefully.
God help us all.

Well, we have something a little similar...

The Technocyte plague.

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Infested

Semi-sentient, horribly mutated, and incredibly difficult to kill zombies. While someone infected with Technocyte is at first just a normal humanoid zombie, a few weeks turns them into something horrifying.

Also, it can take over machines and override their programming. Yeah.
