Quilavaland wrote:Think about it this way, if the opt out is added next time, the worst case is the programmers have a little bit extra work, and nobody else cares or is affected at all. If it's not added, users could be confused and angry because they didn't check the news and the zombies aren't in the FAQ. On top of that, people who care deeply about their people like me will be severely emotionally affected.

You've got next to nothing to lose by adding this, while my side, while smaller, has far more to be concerned about. So can't you just do this one little thing and put in one little button to stop all this drama? Surely there's a way just to get nations to just not put the zombie stuff on their page when they press a button? That can't be too hard surely.

The thing is, an opt out button would completely ruin the event. Every time someone got conquered by zombies or completely cured they would just get out of it. It would take away the point of the game, by allowing everyone who fails to achieve their victory to just get out, spoiling the fun.
And before you repeat the same arguments you've been using he whole time, I realize that some people who don't read the forums wouldn't know what's going on. The thing is, 90% of those people quit after a few days or weeks, while those who participate in the are are usually those who've been around a long time.

And you can just ignore It if you want, not paying attention to part of the screen isn't that hard. And yes I know mandatory fun isn't always fun, but most who don't like it just dont log on for 36 hours, its not that hard.

Why doesn't anybody read the news?

Most do, its just those who don't pay attention to the rest of the forums who don't.

A lot of people do, including me. It's just that some people don't feel like the need to read it.

Now they know the need. There's an thing we do every Aprils fools day too, just letting you know.

The amount of people whining, almost panicking, about this silly little fantasy scenario is pathetic. Some are doing the same thing in Lazarus. I've never understood how anybody can become so attached to a simulated nation. I create nations and forget them completely.

Ignore it? It's the most ridicule thing in the world, it's unrealistic. I'll fight against it. >:(

They should have given an option to opt out of this stupid apocalypse anyway, not everyone is pleased to see stuff like this. (without asking the players)
They should fire the one who came up with this idea

If there's one thing people hate more than anyone else, it's being meddled with. Especially unecessarily. Why can't there be a proper opt-out for the event so people who don't want to see their nation's population slaughtered and/or receive messages for 36 hours telling them that this is happening, just opt out?

I guarantee that the lack of clear explanation about this event has and will lead to players leaving the game (not a lot of players, but some - especially people who aren't very computer savvy and don't even know the forums exist). This thread is evidence of the lack of clarity.

It isn't clear to people that this is a temporary event and those people will be upset and leave when they start seeing their populations die.

Every time we have an event for April Fools' or somesuch, people complain. If it's really that big of a deal, your nation will be fine without you for the few days of the event.

I don't want to participate. There should be an option: Participate or Not.

Then don't participate.

You guys want to fire the person who is paying and working to run NationStates?

SOLUTION: If you don't like the zombie apocalypse, then just don't go on NS for the 36 hours that it's happening for. If you want to get on NationStates, then deal with it. Just ignore it.

Move your country to the region Kantrias, they will help you to cure, then you can move back to your own region: http://www.nationstates.net/region=kantrias

Would you all just leave this topic alone? Everything you guys are saying has been said over, and over, and over again. Heck, this topic was created in technical before the Zombie Emergency Command Center was put in place. The OP has conceded many times things are not going to change (while still keeping his opinion, but still accepting we are not getting an opt-out). All you are doing now is picking on him. I know I am not a mod and have no power to say such things, but CUT IT OUT.

Please, can we let this topic die?

Err...they are already in Kantrias, and that is a bit off topic.
