Research Data on Strange Virus

As of 17.10.2014, a strange disease, currently labelled ANDV (Acute Neurological Decay Virus, or Andevee), has been reported across the globe. Epidemiologists have been able to track it to a single source: Velk Island, within the borders of Serrian. The vast biodiversity on the nature-centered island could easily lead to a new breed of disease, as it currently seems to have done.

After some days of research, here are the preliminary discoveries made by scientists on Luminari Island:

-The virus is spread via contact with bodily fluids; it is confirmed that it is not airborne or waterborne, but the most common transmission vectors are blood and saliva.
-Those infected with ANDV excrete vast amounts of sweat, meaning that skin of the infected is a very viable transmission vector
-Two confirmed categories: Rapid-Incubation and Delayed-Incubation
-Delayed-Incubation category may take up to 2 days to display symptoms of infection
-Rapid-Incubation category may take up to 5 minutes to display symptoms
-Symptoms are as followed, in order of appearance (REQUIRES MORE RESEARCH)
-Heavy coughing
-Fever
-Abnormal hunger
-Haemmoraghing
-Atrophy of higher brain functions (subject becomes comatose)
-Upon re-awakening, severe aggressive tendencies towards all un-infected individuals. Pending research.

There is no cure, as of yet.

The Andevee virus has begun to appear in Acharastan. On my order, scientists began researching this virus. We have made a shocking discovery an how this virus works / how it is transmitted. It begins as a small virus. Upon infecting someone, it poses no threat and thus the White Blood Cells to nothing to it. Slowly it evolves, until it is strong enough to take out the White Blood Cells. Once the immune system is gone, it continues evolving to become what you currently see. Now the virus goes two ways. It either creates a new round of the tiny virus and spreads it, leading to Delayed-Incubation, or the evolved virus takes a new host, causing Rapid-Incubation. I hope this helps, because if this thing spreads, I will personally shoot every infected on this planet.

This outbreak we have designated Ze-D 00015, or "The Zombie Outbreak" as some prefer, has been sighted in neighboring countries close to Ammerinia. Our scientists and some of the best minds in the world have began to research the virus. Since the outbreak has yet to be sighted in Ammerinia's borders, we still don't have many specimens to work with. However, specimen PR-2A from the nation of Elyinia has been infected with the virus and has sacrificed himself so that he can be studied. Upon our experiments, we have discovered that if the infected individual is let near any source of microwave radiation, they will develop some strange mutations. Unfortunately, the subject died before we could get a good look at these mutations. We have also discovered that if the subject is injected with a chemical called 'Adeeniva', the infection will be slowed down by about 8.6 hours. We hope this information is of some use to you, and our scientists will continue to study this strange disease.

Patient zero was brought in by ambulance to Westham Regional Hospital after being bitten by a raccoon whilst mountain climbing. Relatives report complaints of dizziness, fatigue, soreness, and widespread numbness, followed by fever and chills. Patient's brother called ambulance after he began vomiting blood. Upon arrival, the patient was semi-conscious, and displayed symptoms akin to acute intoxication.

Upon admittance to the ER, Intravenous fluid and antibiotics were administered immediately. Supplementary oxygen was given briefly to stabilize critical oxygen levels. While in the ER, the patient began having violent spasms, and was restrained. Initial bloodwork showed clinical antibody tests for Valde Exanimis* to be abnormally high, officially labeled as "equivocal". Doses of the standard Exanimis antivirus were administered, and initially restored vital signs to normal ranges, but did little to improve symptoms. Samples of blood and spinal fluid were sent to MOH central for further analysis.

The patient continued to phase in and out of consciousness, and in a fit of spasms lashed out at a nurse changing IV fluid. The patient was immediately placed in isolation, and the nurse was admitted and given the standard antivirus regimen as a precaution. After numerous teleconferences with MOH Central, both patients were transferred by airlift to North Shore Hospital. All close contacts of the patients were also located and placed under home quarantine.

Prior to transport, patient zero was placed in a coma to avoid risk of contamination. All transport staff were instructed to use full contact and droplet precautions. Patient one, the hospital nurse, was given a low dose of nitrous oxide to ease her hysteria. It is unknown whether the hysterical symptoms were caused due to the virus or acute mental stress.

After 24 hours, laboratory tests confirmed patient zero was afflicted with a new strain of the Valde Exanimis virus. Patient zero was euthanized on 2014-10-19. Patient one was placed in a medically induced coma, and antibodies do not appear to be responding well to the infection.

Three additional laboratory-confirmed cases were identified in the Westham area, including two close contacts of patient zero (brother and girlfriend), and one lab tech who had been exposed to blood samples after violation of hazmat protocol. All cases have been redirected to North Shore Hospital, which has been closed to all other patients. Close contacts of all patients are being located and placed under house arrest by the Commission for Continuity of State Security.

Patient zero was admitted into Oakville Regional Hospital in the small town of Oakville on 10OCT2014. Patient reported feeling ill for over a week, and relatives report patient complaining of dizziness, fatigue, soreness, fever and chills, and an increased appetite. Patient began to vomit blood after being admitted in hospital.

After doctors began to suspect V1-HC3829, or Sanguine Necrosis, the disease that has had two major outbreaks in Cill Airne the past two years, patient zero was transferred to King William's Hospital in Winchester for further observance on 14OCT2014. Upon arriving to King William's patient zero was treated with intravenous fluid and antibiotics. After observing patient's oxygen level's, doctors began to give patient zero supplementary oxygen. Blood was drawn from patient zero, and sent for immediate testing. The results came back as positive for V1-HC3829.

After confirming the case as Sanguine Necrosis, doctors began to administer the antibiotics developed last year for the disease. However, this caused the patient to lash out in violence and frequent seizures began to occur. After further examination of patient zero's blood, V1-HC3829 appears to have mutated causing the antibiotics to worsen patients condition. Research into a new cure has begun immediately. Family member, friends, and doctors from Oakville Regional Hospital who were in close contact with the patient have been placed into home quarantine to be observed for any symptoms.

Patient Zero's condition has continued to worsen, and at 23:15 on 18OCT2014 patient zero entered into a coma, the last stage before complete take over of the disease. To prevent further outbreak of the disease, patient zero was euthanised early in the morning on 19OCT2014. Patient zero's brother and and mother have began to show symptoms of V1-HC3829 and will be transported to King William's Hospital on 21OCT2014. Two other isolated incidences have been reported in rural villages, all within a 80 km radius of Oakville. His Grace, the King and Parliament have ordered the military to deploy into the region to investigate a possible cause of the outbreak. So far, no known cases have been reported in Cill Airne's major cities.

Following the news of the potential outbreak The Flame Dawn is preparing for any offensive conflict. While little is know about this infection, due to our fear of an enemy attack we have begun to build a series of walls. The úlairi, the undead plague once unleashed upon Tol Eresëa two millennia ago, have not posed a threat since the days of the necromancer Lólindir Elensar. Every few years there has been a small attack on a small village, leading to a raid by the King's Guard in near by caves to exterminate the threat. Last year was no difference, except the amount of attacks were much higher. When His Majesty heard the report that the village of Netilaurië found a family transformed into the úlairi within their own home, with no signs of an attack from the outside, he was deeply disturbed. He sent Scholars Lúthien Calaelen and Finwë Culnámo of the Spectres of the Forbidden, Tol Eresëa's Scholarly institute on necromancy and the undead.

Calaelen and Culnámo arrived in the village of Netilaurië on 16OCT2014, and instantly began to survey the area for any signs of a nest in the nearby area that could be responsible for the family's transformation. After being unsuccessful they began to conduct an investigation, inquiring about any stranger who may have entered the village around the time of their transformation. Villagers reported no one had entered the village, but that Rúmil Míriel, the husband of the family that had been transformed, had recently come back from a week of traveling. He did not have any signs of having been attacked by the Úlairi, but villagers report he had been acting strange. Upon conducting a thorough investigation of the Míriel household, Calaelen and Culnámo made a discovery of necromancer's tools hidden away in the household.

On 18OCT2014, the Spectres of the Forbidden scholar's made their conclusion; that Rúmil Míriel had used necromancy to transform his family into the úlairi, and was not powerful enough to prevent them from attacking him leading to his own demise. This is the first reported case in over 2,000 years that Elensar's magic had been used to transform people, and the Circle (Tol Eresëa's Scholarly institute, of which the Spectres are a subsidiary) had previously thought that Elensar's rituals had been lost/forgotten. This indicates that Cannúlë, the Order of Necromancy, has returned from hiding and is intending to overthrow the Crown with an undead army like the Order's Founder intended. Since 18OCT2014 15 more incidences like this have occurred, and His Majesty has increased patrols and has began to conscript able body men and women into the Guard to prepare in the event that a war begins between the necromancer's.

While there is not time for a proper double blind study, I have been assured by the researchers that the vaccine produced positive results in animal test subjects. We have been able to produce five hundred extra doses of the vaccine and we have been authorized to give up to fifty doese per nation while supplies last.

Firewind Zombie Warfare Teams

The FZWT has been mobilized, and after observing and making first combat with the infected, is now analyzing the bodies and the virus itself.

The "Necrosis" Virus, as it has been dubbed, is a vicious and intelligent virus. To start with, it directly attacks the brain, heart, and other vital organs, shutting them down except for the brain, which is partially disabled, but still receives signals from the virus itself. This causes the body to remain animated, as the muscles are still active, though the victim is in all forms of the word, dead.

The virus's main way of spreading is through bites, and in advanced cases, even through scratches and handheld weapons covered with the virus. Other than moving and attacking, the virus can do very little, and will even eat the body itself to stay alive if there is no readily available new host to infect, until there is nothing left of the original victim. However, it "eats" the body at a rate in alignment with the normal decomposition process, which results in a zombie taking years or even decades to die out.

We hope this information will be of use to the international databse, and hope that this information will be useful in identifying and combating the Necrosis virus.
