Introduction

Hello folks! Welcome to my attempt at making a small, tight-knit RP. My hope is that this will focus on the relationships of our characters more than any overarching story, which is why I choose Star Trek instead of Star Wars as my Sci-Fi muse. In the end though, what'll make this dream a reality is whether you guys will enjoy it. Fingers crossed you do.

And if you don't, well, at least we can still be friends.

An Overview of Recent Events in the CoC's History

Five years from this very day, the CoC and the Khugons were locked in a pitched conflict lasting nearly a decade. The situation initially looked dire, with a surprise attack by the Khugons decimating border fortification and the CoC fleet stationed there. This was soon followed with further incursions, marking a slow but steady advance towards Cordovia. This could have marked the end of the CoC, if it weren't for the action of a small band of covert operatives which were able to plant an AI aboard the Khugon flagship. The AI began sending back the coordinates of the Khugon fleet, as well as their next objectives. Thanks to this, the CoC staged an ambush against the Khugons as they used the hyperspace lanes on Valinor Prime. Using the Immobilizer Defense System, the enemy fleet was ripped out of space, directly into a field of EMP mines. This, combined with the full might of the CoC navy left the Khugon fleet absolutes decimated. Knowing what the cost of a counter assault would be grievous on the CoC's resources, Grand Magistrate Orum offered a peace treaty with the Overempress, who reluctantly agreed, having no fleet in the area to press the assault.

Seeing how close the CoC came to destruction, Grand Magistrate Orum has redoubled his efforts on colonization, a program he had started long before the Khugon conflict. Currently, Orum faces criticism about the initiative, with some arguing that the money would be better spent elsewhere. In an attempt to help boost public support, he has authorized the creation of the Trailblazer, the greatest capital ship ever created in the history of the CoC. It's mission is to help protect the colonies, as well as discover the great unknown in the name of the CoC. Because so much is riding on this mission, Orum picked the captain personally, and allowed only the best and brightest to make up the officer corps. Now, outfitted with the best the CoC has to offer, the Trailblazer boldly sets forth to uncharted start systems in search of new worlds, new civilizations, and hopefully new resources.

We join our heroes after roughly a month of their journey has begun. They have performed a few missions thus far, however these have only been basic patrols and supply drops on some nearby colonies. The Trailblazer is currently orbiting Vortan, a planet of the Magnetar system. This planet contains the only CoC colony in the system, with the other four worlds left undiscovered by the CoC.

Galactic Factions and Species

Faction App

Faction name: The Commonwealth of Constellations

Brief History: Once a sector of the galaxy full of loosely aligned systems, the roots of this peaceful faction ironically grew from war. Although historians can't agree on what exactly caused the War of a Thousand Stars, they have come to a consensus that it consisted of the original 1,000 systems of the Commonwealth looked in a state of turmoil of shifting alliances. Even if they don't know what started the war, they do know what ended it: Tycho Cordovia. A military genius and natural leader, he begun a campaign that brought the systems into the fold with pen or plasma. But rather than declare himself emperor of this new territory, he decided to allow the people a voice. So he established the Great Forum on his home world, which would later be named after him. Slowly, the Commonwealth began to incorporate more and more systems as unaffiliated systems desired the protection or a higher standard of living, until it became the size that it is today.

Recently, the Commonwealth has managed to remain peaceful with all factions in the surrounding area, though only time will tell how long that will last. They currently have begun campaigns of cooperation between other nations, chief among these being the colonization efforts spearheaded by the CoC.

Type of Government: The CoC is a democracy, with every system represented by in the Great Forum, which is moderated by the Grand Magistrate. The current Grand Magistrate is Silvane Orum, who's responsible for the Commonwealth's renewed interest in the unexplored galaxies abroad. A career politician, he is generally well-liked throughout the systems for his insistence that negotiation be the first course of action in any situation, which had helped keep the Commonwealth at peace with the other factions of the known galaxy. However, there are some who believe Orum's passion for exploration is a little on the obsessive side, which could potentially prove a frivolous drain on the Commonwealth's coffers. Other factions are welcomed to send representatives to the Great Forum, where they can give speeches but cannot vote on policies.

Describe Homeworld: The Capital of the Commonwealth is located on Cordovia, a vibrant planet with healthy vegetation and clean clear rivers, a rare site for the urban centers of the Commonwealth. The pristine environment is mostly due to the planet's massive ravines, which allows for cities to be constructed underground inside of the huge network of caverns. Other biomes include several mountainous regions, white beaches, oceans which cover about 50% of the planet's surface, and forests, all of which are popular tourist locations for the citizens of the Commonwealth. Cordovia has 1 moon, Augum, which is covered in dense forests and mountains. The moon is covered with mining stations which fuel the the dry-docks located on Augum's surface, as well as provide a locate source of building material for Cordovia's shining cities.

Describe People: The citizens of the CoC can best be described as "diverse." Terrans, androids, and aliens live in relative harmony in most worlds of the Commonwealth, and while some planets have yet to let go of their nationalistic tendencies, the CoC preaches a mantra of freedom and equality. Due to the varied nature of those who make up the CoC, who you are matters more then what you are. Accomplishments, whether they be in the field of charity, science, economics, politics, or the military, is ultimately what citizens are judged on, so it's not surprising for reputation to be the most important thing to members of the Commonwealth.

Military Power: The CoC has a fairly large military, though it is completely designed from defensive fighting. All ships are equipped with advanced communication and sensor devices, heavy armor and shields, and AI's to help optimize battle orders. Aside from the capital ships, the vast majority of the CoC's fleet holds a quantity over quality mentality. While a similar Khugon ship would often defeat it's CoC counterpart, it would then have to deal with 5 more which took it's place. These massive fleets patrol the outer rims of the Commonwealth, with one currently dispersed through uncharted space to help keep colonies and expeditions safe from pirates and other unknown threats.

Aside from their fleets, the CoC specializes in building fortifications and other defensive devices. Battle stations are located in strategically important locations, as well as planetary shields on many of the frontier worlds. The most important of all these technologies however is the Immobilizer Defense System. By creating gravity wells, ships are pulled out of and unable to enter hyperspace, allowing for the CoC's fleets to ambush invading armies, as well as make incursions painfully slow by forcing ships to use their normal engines or warp drives. This is often used in tandem with EMP mines to deadly effect. While these tactics would be tough to use for offense, it suits the CoC's defensive nature just fine.

Finally, the CoC is rumored to have a number of secret projects, chief among them the Tartarus Initiative. This organization is spoken about in only the less reputable parts of the galaxy, and even then only in hushed tones. Some say the organization brings back fallen soldiers to fight again, while others say it breeds monsters which are let loose on the Commonwealths enemies. But these are just rumors of course.

Science/Tech Level: The Commonwealth enjoys an active scientific community which has provided technology above the average unaffiliated system. They primarily have focused on cutting edge medical and construction technology, allowing for citizens of the Commonwealth to have a high standard of living. The Commonwealth actively welcomes the great minds of the galaxy, providing generous resources for those they believe can get results.

Supernatural/Organic Notes: The CoC recognizes the usefulness of biological augmentation and harnessing the nature of the universe. However, the Commonwealth as a whole pursues mechanical technology and traditional science.

Economic Power: The CoC has above average access to both natural resources and credits, but has currently been at a trade deficit since they've started their colonization program. The Commonwealth sees this as a necessary investment, but has had to increase trade with more economic prosperous factions to ensure that their systems don't call for the end of the colonization project.

Political Power: The CoC is regarded as one the galaxies most influential factions, having neutral to friendly relations with every faction of note. Although the 20,000 systems that make up the Commonwealth can be slow to act at times, they are capable of reacting quickly under pressure if needed. Even if a faction isn't impressed by the CoC's resources or military, they must respect the considerable might of the Commonwealth's alliances. The CoC has been used as an moderator for peace talks between other factions

Expansion Level: The CoC is one of the more expansion-prone factions in the known universe, sending many ships to explore the great unknown, as well as quickly colonizing promising planets so as to stake a claim before other factions. The most famous and well equipped of these exploration vessels happens to be the one our players are traveling on.

Relationship With Other Factions: Officially, the CoC is neutral with all major factions. However, this doesn't mean that all factions are equally liked. This will be expanded as the rest of the factions are added.

Possible Story Threads: As a CoC vessel, we will periodically get mission requests from them as events unfold. The most common request will involve checking up on colonies, ensuring that they are properly supplied and protected.

Faction name: The Khugon Dominion

Brief History: The brief overview of the Khugons does not truly explain the depth and breadth of their culture and history, but it does give a pretty good look at the root. War. War and battle and death are the core of everything the Khugons did and do today. A Khugon is not truly a Khugon, male or female, if they do not have at least one fight every day. They are given a weapon at birth, and train with it till death, endeavoring to become masters with their deadly gift. This fact was born from and helped continue their bloody history. The Khugons have always had a meritocratic government, but the only merit valued was, and is, the merit of martial prowess. Money and technology and learning eventually found their place in the violent duels for position, but the title of leader and his advisers have always been determined by bloodiest blade.

In the beginning, their were tribes. Tribes subjugated under one Khugon, male or female, and brought together by the need to survive. Tribes fought wars, raging on from days to months to years to decades, until there were kingdoms instead of tribes. Kings were longer lived, and sometimes their sons would be the ones to succeed them, but there would never be more than two or three of the same family as leaders. Wars were constantly fought, kingdoms constantly shifting. Money, technology, learning, smithing, and many more arts and practices came about in this time, the need to pass on knowledge of war and fighting styles and to create a stable base of trade to make weapons fueling most of the desire to do so. Cartography started at some point, but soon fell out of fashion as a career because maps would be determined out of date in the week.

There are two Khugons who are worthy of mention by name in this brief overview, the two conquerors of the world. Kahlei the Indomitable and Kilesh the Unforgettable. They both had small kingdoms on separate continents, on opposite sides of the world, which they soon, through the use of higher technology, better tactics, ruthless governing, and the spread of rumors. These rumors? That they, individually, were Death Incarnate, the Harbinger of the End Times. Using these plans, they both soon conquered their respective continents. Of course, when word of another ruler claiming to be Death Incarnate reached Kahlei and Kilesh's ears, they both became furious. After decades of war, the two finally met on the battle field, fighting each other in furious competition. The Battle between Death Himself and Death Herself was so spectacular that both of their armies stopped combat and watched, enemies becoming observers together in awe. It went on for hours, and then days, Kahlei and Kilesh never giving quarter to the other, until eventually something happened. The weapons were discarded, and the warrior and warrioress started wrestling for domination... and then they started mating. Both Kahlei and Kilesh had not taken a mate in their life times, and for a Khugon, a mate was his or her equal and their partner for life. They were allies in a world of only enemies. After hours more, and the Battle of Deaths finally ended, it was determined in a day that the Empires of Kahlei and Kilesh would be joined. And that is how the world of Khu was United as One Under Death.

The history of the Dominion in space is quite long, as they have been there for at least as long as the CoC. Many races have been conquered and exterminated by the Khugons, their technology and planets being taken and added to the Dominion in force instead. The Khugons hardly ever colonize... all they ever do is conquer.

Type of Government: A system of kingdoms that all pledge their allegiance to the Empire of Khu make up the government on the capital planet, and the Empire of Khu serves as the Dominating Empire in the Collective Council of Emperors. There are Colonial Kingdoms that make up Colonial Empires on every world in the Dominion, and each world has a Council of Advisory Kings that, well, advise the planets Emperor. And then each Emperor, excluding the Emperor of Khu, is part of the CCE, which advises His/Her Majesty, the Subjugator of All Khugon, Death Incarnate, the Overemperor of the Dominion. The current Overemperess, Her Majesty, the Subjugator of All Khugon, Death Incarnate, and Greatest Warrioress the Dominion Has to Offer is named Kahlei, after her ancestor.

Homeworld: Khu is a massive world, made mostly of jungles. The planet has five moons, all of which are inhabited. Two are arctic worlds. Two are volcanic yet still habitable, meaning that they are mainly made of desert with many, many erupting volcanoes. The final moon is a temperate forest. The two arctic moons are named Slow Death in the Khugon language, one with a feminine inflection and the other with a masculine. The volcanic moons are named Kahlei and Kilesh respectively. The forest moon's name means Dream in the Khugon language, though it is mainly known as Peace, because Peace is a Dream, more of a nightmare, for most Khugon.

Khu itself is mainly a jungle world, but around the equator lies vast deserts and volcanoes, which are very unstable and can erupt at indeterminable times. The polar ice caps are habitable, and indeed inhabited, due to the immense heat that Khu contains. The only biome not found on Khu is that ofa temperate forest, though the moon Dream allows Khugons the experience of living in one.

People: The Khugon are a race of warriors, but individuals. There is no base temperament for each one. Some are calm, others are quick to anger, some dull, other sharp. They are all great hand to hand fighters, and are all physically fit, but other than that, they have no base personality. They do value honor as a culture, as well as justice, but only among Khugon. Other races are viewed as inferior. They have a religion shared throughout the entire population, which consists of ancestor veneration, the belief that a true warrior goes to a brilliant paradise in death named Uyndvar, and the belief the Their Majesty, the Subjugator of All Khugon, Death Incarnate, the Overemperor is a God among men, and Death Incarnate.

Military Power: The Dominion has one of, if not the, most powerful military forces in the galaxy. There are four main fleets, one for each of the cardinal directions, each huge and full of battle groups, sub groups, squadrons, and sub squadrons. Every ship from corvette upwards bristles with enough armament to destroy a small moon, while the largest can certainly destroy a planet on it's own. Each fleet has it's own superweapon. Each has one massive laser that is practically a ship in and of itself, capable of destroying a planet in one shot. Other than that, there are no AI in any of the ships, the belief being that a Khugon is the best being in the galaxy and no artificial being could be possibly able to surpass them.

Science/Tech Level: The Khugons are only focused on science and technology to fuel their conquests. Due to that, they are not very advanced in civilian technology, being centuries behind the CoC in agriculture and other such areas. In fact, they are only able to keep up with the CoC industrially because of sheer amount of determination. Militarily, though, they are the bleeding edge of technology. Lasers, shields, engines, mass drivers, missiles, nuclear warheads, drones, fighters; you name it, they're decades ahead of the CoC in it.

Supernatural/Organic Notes: The Khugon think that any manipulation of the body, be it mechanical augmentation or genetic, is disgusting, dishonorable, and downright wrong. It perverts the miraculous body that nature and life gave the Khugons.... There are exceptions, of course. Mechanical limbs are common among those that need them. But only if they need them.

Economic Power: The Khugon do not care for debt. The government does what it wants, and the economy struggles to keep up with it's plans, but it keeps up all the same. They do not take loans from other, inferior races. They have vast amounts of resources, if only because of their vast size as an empire.

Expansion Level: ... I think you could hazard a guess, now could you? But, to be poignant, I'll give you the answer. Think Germany. In the early 1940's.

Relationship With Other Factions: The Khugons are currently not at war with everyone. Currently. And even then, it's more like they're in a cold war with every other faction. They also have a history of war with the CoC, with many border conflicts sparking up.

Possible Story Threads: Definitely later. And it will definitely involve war.

Faction App

Faction name: The Nuvitor

Brief History: The Nuvitor began many years ago--no one knows exactly when save the Nuvitor themselves. Their existence began, so they say, when a woman known as 'the Creator' made the first of them, a primitive android in a time when no such thing existed in other places. The Creator loved the android as if it was her own child, and taught it everything she knew about the universe, except for one thing--how to create more androids. It saw no need to ask, and that disappointed her very much. She wanted it to learn curiosity and how to grow for itself, but it seemed that would never happen.

So the Creator made another. And she continued making more and more, making them better and more advanced until finally, she died. Before she did, though, she told her creations how to make more of themselves, and charged them to always move forward and to improve themselves, hoping that one day, they could become who she had always wanted them to be.

And they did move forward. They did improve themselves. They became so technologically and scientifically advanced through their knowledge that, had they seen a point to war, they could have wiped out entire galaxies with a single shot. But they were peaceful, preferring the pursuit of knowledge and reason over pointless death. In the end, they even created a 'Great Intelligence', modeled off of the Creator--a hub where all of their data was stored.

In time, they met the Commonwealth of Constellations. Other than the small handful of androids who had been there when the Creator still lived, none of them had ever seen a real human before. Of course, they had learned about them, they had seen images and words that told of the humans, but they had never actually talked to one. They were as confused as they could be before being declared legally insane(see 'Describe People' for details on this). They had regarded humans as more of a myth than reality--they didn't understand that there could be a race of beings that each had their own set of emotions, but still managed to coexist with one another. They allied with the CoC, wanting to know more about them.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Type of Government: They are ruled by a council of the most advanced and reasoning androids, who are overseen by the Great Intelligence, a computer program modeled after the Creator. It stores data and helps the council make decisions in the event that they cannot agree.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Describe Homeworld: They actually have two main homeworlds. One is a temperate planet, with plains of red grass, blue-leaved jungles, and even a strange forest of giant purple mushrooms. They really aren't sure why that's there. The only androids to explore it never returned. After that, they figured it would be safest to stay away from the mushrooms. They call this planet 'Lore', due to its unusual features. The other planet is treacherous, with one half a scorching desert of bright yellow sands and the other dark and covered with ice. This planet was christened 'Data' because of its harsh reality.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Describe People: The Nuvitor value knowledge above all else, and are constantly making improvements to their own. They consider emotions to be a mental illness, due to the way that such things cloud logic and reasoning. Those of them who do show emotion are either given to the Commonwealth as both gestures of 'friendship' and ways to get rid of them... or disassembled. There is nothing more frightening(as much as one can be frightened before legal insanity) to a Nuvitor than the thought of being disassembled. None of them knows what happens to their mind once the body is disassembled.

No, they do not dream of electric sheep. Well, the insane ones might.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Military Power: The Nuvitor have no official military, preferring to focus on knowledge. However, a smaller species once attempted to attack them in hopes of taking their knowledge. The Nuvitor assembled their full technological might against the creatures.

That species is currently extinct.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Science/Tech Level: Their science and technology is completely above other factions in terms of advancement. If they want something, chances are that they'll find a way to get it simply due to sheer processing power.

It is only fair to note that other factions are likely very grateful that they do not have the same attitude as the Khugons. If they did, chances are that the population count of the universe would be greatly reduced.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Supernatural/Organic Notes: The Nuvitor don't believe in the supernatural--the Creator is the closest thing they have to a god. And they can only modify themselves technologically.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Economic Power: They consider knowledge an effective form of currency. Due to their technological and scientific prowess, most other factions will accept a few tips on a new technology or a more effective way of doing things to be a fair trade for small things that the Nuvitor need and can't manufacture themselves.

If other factions won't accept knowledge, the Nuvitor always have spare androids to trade.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Political Power: They don't need to have systems under their control and don't consider it a merit in their favor to have large amounts of planets under their thumbs; such a thing spreads resources thin and is thus unreasonable. However, they do have a fair amount of influence due to their prowess.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Expansion Level: They have no need to expand their 'empire', but they do wish to expand their knowledge. Thus it is quite likely that throughout one's travels, one would catch sight of at least a few of the Nuvitor going about the pursuit of knowledge. One could also see some of the Nuvitor allied with other factions due to the Nuvitor being willing to trade their androids. And then there's the more emotional ones that get given to the Commonwealth. There are a good amount of those.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Relationship With Other Factions: The Nuvitor have more positive feelings(feelings, hah) towards the Commonwealth, and are likely to trade with them. If the Commonwealth is in too much danger, it's possible that the Nuvitor would ally with them in battle, but the situation would have to be quite extreme.

They have only disdain for the Khugons, considering them barbaric and stupid creatures. They do not spend much time with Khugons.

There is nothing else of value to record.

Possible Story Threads: It's possible that the Nuvitor could be infected by a widespread computer virus, leaving them incapacitated and requiring the Commonwealth's intervention.

There is nothing else of value to record.

The Empirial fleet (pictured on the right) raiding a COC system.

Faction App

Faction name: Empire of the Eternal Wanderers | Empiria e'ras Aeternalia Vanderlia

Brief History: All signs point to the fact that the Empiria e'ras Aeternalia Vanderlia have been around for millions of years, and that they have fallen into a period of technological stagnancy that has lasted for several millenia. Once upon a time, they controlled most of the galaxy but Empirial records hold vague reports of an ancient empire that came from beyond darkspace. A great war was raged and it consumed the galaxy in fire. These extra-galactic invaders were supposedly even more advanced than the Vaanderli themselves, and the war was quickly lost. The entire galaxy was ceded to these invaders. The Empiria was left as a vassal state to maintain order in the galaxy, and the invaders soon left for newer horizons, expanding their empire. Over the eons since the Great Fall, the Empiria fell into a series of civil wars that sprung from honour-duels between Cardinals and Saints. This lead to a the period of technological stagnancy that persists to this day. During these wars, many technological secrets were lost and the production of new vessels was incapable of continuing, and the location of the Vaanderli homeworld was lost amongst the stars for a million years. With no home to return to, the honour-bound fleets of the Empiria wandered the stars for millennia, watching as new races came into being and extincted themselves. The galaxy was a cruel place, and none knew this better than the Vaanderli.

Type of Government: The Empiria is a timocracy, being ruled by the honourable captains--known as "Cardinals of Swords" of the Eternal Fleet. Among these captains, one is selected as the "most honourable" of all the Empiria. This Vaanderli is then known as the most honourable "Saint of Swords." Honour can be gained through several means, such as actions of notability, victory in battle, and showing mercy to a defeated foe. The current Saint of Swords is Innokentia Inkoustria Oculusia Aeternia, who attained their status through rediscovering the Vaanderli homeworld of Vandelria.

Describe Homeworld: Vandelria is a somewhat odd world, in that it contains the only known deposits of the material known as "Flottelia" in the entire discovered galaxy and that it is shattered--the molten core being exposed to the void and many islands float above what would be sea level on Vandelria. There are also some interesting irregularities involving the Vandelria system--namely, it is a binary system, though in place of one of the suns, there is a black hole.

Describe People: Vaanderli are keenly interested by the younger races, a trait which reflects itself oddly in that they enjou offering Faust-esque deals to the lesser races. For example, they would offer great intellect in exchange for the subject's soul. A biological quirk allows the Vaanderli to absorb life force from other species (theorized as a side-effect of the large Flottelia concentrations within the Vaanderli) and use it to prolong their already ludicrous lifespans. More often than not, these bargains are accepted. Another common bargaining chip is that the Vaanderli will offer future services to the subject--though these are often never asked of by the subject, or are fulfilled in a way not intended. Another worthwhile note about these "Fausts" as they are known to the lesser races is that once the contract has been made, the Vaanderli can create the illusion of being another individual of the subject's race. However, they will appear as a Vaanderli to the contracted subject and other Vaanderli. It is also worth noting that becoming a "Faust" is seen as a dishonourable act by the majority of the Empiria, and is commonly punished with exile.

Military Power: The Empirial fleet is overwhelming compared to the forces of the newer empires--the ships may number few in comparison, but the Ziirogeiria are the single most powerful fleet in the galaxy. They are colossal--some have been built using the entirety of the raw resources planets. Though slower than many "modern" ships due to the propulsion systems, they are at the same time blessed by this. Ziirogeiria are undetectable, as they do not emit any kind of signatures. They also oddly do not use shields of any kind, instead relying on what has been described as an "energy laced hull" system, which causes the round to disperse it's energy across the hull, andleaves the ship intact. How this is done is not known, even to the Vaanderli themselves. These ships are also one of the oldest fleets in existence, having existed in the time even before the venerable Nuvitor, of whom they watched grow and prosper.

Science/Tech Level: Though the Empiria is the single most advanced race in the galaxy--surpassing even the Nuvitor--they have reached a point of scientific stagnancy. They are incapable of creating new Ziirogeiria, and typically treat their own technology as if it was arcane and otherworldly. Because of this, no race has been able to reverse-engineer any of the technologies they possess which is likely for the betterment of the galaxy. One could only dream of the harm a race could do with the power of Empirial technology behind them.

Supernatural/Organic Notes: Flottelia is a Transnewtonian element, and counteracts the effects of gravity. Vaanderli contain a high amount of this in their blood streams, which causes it to appear like a glowing purple mist when spilled. Flottelia is also used in the keys of and engines of Vaanderli starships. Giant blades (known as Royalria) are given to the Cardinals of starships, which allow them to activate the Flottelia drives which propel Empiria ships through the void. However, Flottelia drives are notably slower means of FTL than many other systems. However, they do not require an external fuel source, and don't generate any signatures that can be detected. Because of this, Empirial ships are the boogeyman of the galaxy, appearing where they wish with little opposition, and obliterate any forces that dare resist. Empirial ships are known as Ziirogeiria, or "White Whales" as a literal translation.

Economic Power: The Empiria is fantastically rich, though they have no proper currency to express it. Instead, they operate on a barter system where services rendered are the most commonly exchanged goods. Trade is nonexistent with the Empiria, largely due to their secretive nature and mysterious origins. However, many merchants are happy to accept future services from Vaanderli, as they are known to be honour-bound folk, despite encounters being few and far-between.

Political Power: The precise amount of systems under control of the Empiria is unknown, though it is known that the raids they mount typically originate from the center of the galaxy. In this area, their homeworld of Vandelria is presumed to be located. However, the precise location is only known to the Empiria, and any who venture towards the core are never heard from again. A Khugon fleet consisting of forty-thousand vessels tried a hundred years ago. They have yet to return.

Expansion Level: They are rarely--if ever--seen outside the galactic core. Spotting a fleet of Ziirogeiria is typically a sight that no-ones sees twice, as it only happens once every several hundred years, and the location varies greatly. Generally however, they are spotted en masse, with the entire fleet mobilized in a raid on the sovereign races. The motivation behind these raids are unknown, but survivors are common due to the honourable nature of the Vaanderli.

Relationship With Other Factions: The Empiria is a feared name--as it should be rightfully. Even the mighty Khugon fear their name, and with good reason. To date, not a single Empirial ship has been destroyed, though they have received damage over their eons of service. They are a tiny race in comparison to the others--with only a single system under their official control--though they hold claims on the entirety of the galaxy. They are almost universally hated by the newer races due to their often inexplicable raids on sovereign worlds that almost always ends in the destruction of huge fleets by mere flotillas. They often show mercy to defeated foes, instead of annihilating them they merely take the needed supplies and leave, to disappear into the void once more.

Possible Story Threads: A powerful Cardinal of Swords offers a the ship's AI an organic body in return for their servitude? Something Faustian.

Personality: (how they interact with others, are they outgoing, are they trusting, are they quick to anger, are they ruled by passion or logic, etc.)

Skills: (These are the mundane things, such as engineering, military training, and the like.)

Powers: (This is the superhuman stuff. If you're an alien, it's your enhanced strength, resistance to the elements, etc. If you're an android, this is your special weapons or gadgets. If you're an augmented human, your implants or genetic splicing goes here.)

Weaknesses (You need at least two, a physical one and a personality flaw. Must make sense with your backstory and powers, and if someone exploits it you must treat this as a weakness.)

Faction: (Most of you are part of the Commonwealth of Constellations, though you could be a liaison from another allied faction)

Occupation: (what do you do for the ship?)

Bio: (at least a paragraph. Please include where you're from, how you joined the crew, and if you have any opinions of the other crew mates)

Character Goal: (different from your bio. This is your characters goal in life. If they were the main character in a novel, this would be what their arc would be about. Things like self improvement, finding a cause, or revenge works here.)

Equipment, Weapons, and Vehicles: (Please list anything that your character owns personally)

Likes and Dislikes:

Other: (Theme song can go here, if they have one)

Type of Government: (Include who their leader is, as well any information you find important about him/her/it)

Describe Homeworld: (Include biome[s], as well as anything special about it)

Describe People: (are they trusting of outsiders, or xenophobic? Are they quick to anger, or easy going? Are they honorable or treacherous?)

Military Power: (Include any super weapons, fleets of notes, war heroes and the like. Include what the typical capital ship would be like to find.)

Science/Tech Level: (compared to the average planet, how focused are they in the pursuit of scientific and technological advancements? Any advancements of note?)

Supernatural/Organic Notes: (some systems snub mechanical technology in favor of enhancing the self or the environment. This is the place to go into that in detail)

Economic Power: (how wealthy is this faction compared to the others? Are they in debt or are they the debt collectors?)

Political Power: (how many systems are roughly under their control? As comparison, the Confederation of Constelations has around 20,000 systems, which is a fairly substantial size for a faction.)

Expansion Level: (how likely are we to find them while we travel? Are they isolated, or are they too venturing into the great beyond?)

Relationship With Other Factions: (Obviously, this will need to be updated as we go, but make sure that this says how they feel about the Commonwealth of Constellations.)

Possible Story Threads: (If you have an idea, put it here. If not, that's totally fine, just leave it blank.)

Any overarching personality tropes?: (Are they shy, honorable, outgoing, treacherous, etc)

Physiology and Abilities: (are they strong or weak? Tall or small? Possess powers or are mundane?)

Rules

To be honest, I don't expect anyone here to have any problems. But just incase:
1. General RP étiquette. Don't God Mod, being a jerk, or any of that stuff.
2. Keep it at a three line minimum
3. If you have to leave for whatever reason, TG me or someone else so we are aware of your absence.
4. Keep it logical. I'm not asking for perfect realism, but I should be able to understand what you're doing and why.

Hey, Doc. Wanna invite Castle Crashers to this?

If not, it's okay. I just think that she'll be fun to have with us.

Well, currently if everyone who I've sent a TG to joins, we'd have eight, which is the upper limit of what I want. But if I don't get a response, I'll add them.

Yeah, I was hoping to get a chance to world build a tad before we started, but screw it we're doing it now. First order of business is find a good enough picture of what our ship should look like.

Cool, we'll go with that then.

As far as known groups, here's what I got:

 • The faction that we're a part of. A democratic collection of systems, think the real world UN or any of the typical sci-fi good guys.
 • An alien race that has no mechanical technology of any kind, instead focusing on evolution, genetic manipulation, and other forms of creating the perfect organism. Their weapons, ships, and cities are all organic in nature.
 • An alien race that's is military focused.
 • An alien race that's made up of mechanical creatures such as robots and androids, lead by a Supreme Intelligence.
 • An alien race that appears to use magic by manipulation energy, using telekinesis, and other powers
 • A race of aliens with either psychic or telepathic powers

Of course, we need names, appearances, and a brief history of all of them, but there's some concepts for us to play with. Anyone want to claim a faction to start working on?

Because if I am, this will quickly turn into a Star Trek ripoff.
