Almost a whole year ago, a probe under the name "ASON-BIOS_#04" was launched from the International Spaceport. It's destination was set for Utonia, a planet in the Astral System with a higher possibility of life than Arcadia itself. It's predecessors, #01 to #03 had all landed perfectly on the planet surface, and since then we have learned much about the planet. Though, regardless of our efforts, we still haven't found any signs of complex life there. We hoped that #04 would bring us a much desired change.

Not all went according to plan though.

Because of a badly rounded number, calculated by an engineer at the International Spaceport, a fitting which protects a RCS fuel pipe had a minor defect. During re-entry of the probe in Utonia's atmosphere, the fitting failed, and a few grams of fuel were released into the atmosphere. This was not anticipated of course, and caused the fuel to run out a few seconds sooner than predicted. The probe, which was meant to land on the coast of an island, splashed down a couple of kilometres off-shore instead. On it's way to the ocean floor, it's camera was able to capture and send a few seconds, and on the received video a few anomalies can be seen for a short amount of time. When the transmission was still on it's way to Arcadia, the probe was already crushed by the pressure of the water, and the connection was cut. Scientists around the world are speculating on what the anomalies could have been, but no definite answer has come out so far.

There is only one question now: How will the Arcadian nations react to this event?

Daniel dismissed Karlet
1 hour later he had a press meating aboot Utonia situation.
In some months a probe shall be sent to Utonia.
The Dream 2

[Theocretes]

King Theocretes was flipping through pages and pages of legislation to be passed, typical stuff.
He never usually payed any attention to the papers he sighed...until one particular issue caught his eye, it was named:
"Alien Life on Utonia?"
He called his secretary in to run him some information on this topic.
When he found out the full side of the story, he was definitely interested, he imagined Theocretes revered around Arcadia for being the ones to first obtain a successful sample of alien life.

After a couple of hours of paperwork, budgeting, and contacting the correct officials, the blueprint for a mission to Utonia had been drawn up.
A simple rover mission would do, the tiny robot would collect samples, take pictures, and gather further atmospheric data from the planet.
Theocretes had to think of an inventive name for this mission, he always liked naming missions anyway.
He christened the mission: "vitae"
It would take 6 months to develop the spacecraft
2 more months to develop and test the rover
and 1-2 months to assemble the craft and wait for the opportune time to launch
When launched, it would take 4 months to reach Utonia, and it would spend a total of 5 Arcadia weeks on the planet before it's battery ran out.




He sent a letter out to all of Theocretes main allies, MLC, Frangleterre, Krypton Nova, and Yymea
it read:

Dear Leader,
It has come to my attention that life may have been detected on the planet known as "Utonia". I King Theocretes the 21st have christened a rover mission to the planet. This mission will run a total time of around 13-14 months and will provide useful scientific data to the international community from on the surface of the planet. The mission is named "vitae" and I do hope you will participate in the funding, research, and development of this mission. Send me a message if you request further information.

Ilbigug Jilkimug talked amiably with one of the scientists. The assembly of the pod had recently begun, and money was pouring into the project. The scientific community of Yymea was buzzing with activity, with constant debates and new theories being proposed almost daily. Ilbigug Jilkimug loved it. It may be costing a fortune, but it was worth it. He casually flipped through some plans for the pod, and felt excitement bubbling up inside him. He smiled, thinking about the future of Arcadia. He hoped a new era of scientific discovery was ahead.

After a few hours of looking through the investigation and assembly center, Ilbigug Jilkimug went back to his residence. It was the second floor of an apartment block, and it had a pleasant terrace, with a few potted plants. A blue tailed turkey called Keghe and a rat named Gugurrori lived there along with him. He sometimes went there to write letters, as he felt more comfortable there.

Answer:

To the esteemed General of State Daniel J and President Ilbigug Jilkimug,

this seems a most reasonable proposal to us, and we will gladly agree to it. If any of you are in need of a way to get to Utonia, we have a 2-stage rocket capable of launching a probe to Utopia if the payload is within 350 kilograms. It was meant to be used in case the ASON-BIOS program didn't start, but it did, so we don't really have a use for it any more. Also because our payloads are too light for it.
