Earth has fallen. The might of the world's nations was not enough to resist the alien tide, and we succumbed. That was twenty years ago. Today the aliens rule earth as the ADVENT Coalition, a peaceful accord of mankind and the various alien species under the supervision of the Elders that has been rebuilding from the ravages of war. Through strange technologies disease and pain are almost things of the past, and gene therapy clinics around the world disseminate treatments of even the most dire illnesses while uniformed human peacekeepers maintain order in our growing cities. But all is not as it seems- there are still those who oppose the new order, those who hold in their hearts the hope of a free Earth. They are the remnants of XCom, men and women who will fight and die to see humanity stand on her own two feet once more. With the recent theft of an advanced alien power converter their plans have come to fruition, and the Avenger, a mobile alien battleship, can now begin supporting the cause of Earth's liberation in the field. You are one of those soldiers, a member of the resistance who fights for the freedom of all men from xenos oppression.

But unknown to the Resistance, the clock is ticking on an alien plot that will doom humanity for all eternity. Do you have what it takes to foil the schemes of the Elders, to rally humanity and cast off the shackles of the past two decades? Or will you be just another unmarked grave, a scorch mark on some alien's gun when Earth finally dies?





Vigilo Confido, operatives. This briefing will be short, as we have much to do, and little time in which to do it. As new recruits to XCOM, you need to know what we're up to; you've all been cleared for full intel, so direct you attention to the screens. Simply enough, there's an entire world out there in chains, chains we need to break. I'm Central Officer Bradford, a member of the original XCOM. I've been leading this fight for twenty years, but truth be told, we've been losing. With ADVENT in command of the military, the government, the media, and even the infrastructure of our world, our efforts have been limited to pinpricks and knives in the dark. That changes today though, and is the reason you've been brought aboard. This vessel, upon which you stand, is the Avenger. A marvel of alien hybrid technology, she can strike anywhere around the world in hours, and is large enough and powerful enough to act as a base of operations for us to finally start hitting back at the Elders and their lackies. We need to wake up the rest of humanity, help them dream of freedom once more, reveal the aliens for what they are. And that will involve filling a lot of xenos grunts with lead.

Welcome, ladies and gents, to XCOM 2: Dire Reckoning. With the launch of the new XCOM game upon us, and inspiration hot in the mind of many, this RP was one that had to be made. You, if you choose to accept the challenge, will fight as a soldiers of the Resistance, of XCOM, warring to liberate the Earth. You may triumph, or fail, but if you work alongside your comrades you may succeed yet in driving the alien menace from our world. By fighting in tactical combat to achieve strategic objectives for XCOM, allocating our resources wisely, and taking decisive action, we shall stand on our own two feet once more.

Every day, command of the Avenger will pass on a rotatorship to a new member of XCOM. They may take advice from any members of the organization, but ultimately how we allocate our resources and dispatch our squads will be up to the Commander on a given day. In the field operatives will be presented with several options as to how to conduct their operation, with successful and rapid engagement with ADVENT forces being crucial to victory. One way or another, this war will come to an end. All RPers are limited to one operative at the start of the RP, but more characters may be recruited in the field to replace fallen soldiers or permit greater involvement when one's primary character is laid up for thirty days with a plasma bolt to the chest.

Sure, works for me. It's a description, and physical. I didn't specify written.

Cool. I think I'll actually hold onto this app for a bit, because I want to see what other bring to the table before I formally apply.

Can say though, what the weapon would be: "In light of there being no auto-shotty, I choose the Autocannon."

Biography: Originally one of the first EXALT operatives, Heinrich underwent extensive genetic modification in preparation for a long war. When he woke up from the surgery, he learned that XCOM had been betrayed, and that the war was all but over. This should have been a cause for celebration, but Heinrich felt uneasy. Over the course of the next two decades, he had his suspicions confirmed as he witnessed the brutal assault on a refugee base. Seeking out resistance movements, he discovered the remains of XCOM. Impressed by their tenacity and inspired by their courage, Heinrich joined and volunteered for the distraction portion of Operation Gatecrasher.

He still misses those nice suits, though.

Zas gut, zas gut. To be clear, his augments won't have "taken" due to EXALT's lack of proper alien knowledge at the time, but he will be a bit of an oddity in terms of genetics. I may give you some character evolution options down the line related to his backstory. Happily accepted.

Luckily for you, XCOM doesn't really mind what her operatives have done in the past, as long as they're clean in the present. Accepted, because we can always use more heavies.

So, I'd imagine both scenarios of Gatecrasher would happen concurrently, with Tutorial version happening the same way it does in-game and Statue version (aka Diversion) being the other teams.
