Simple Rules:
1. I am Mod my word is law as well as the other moderators.
2. Be respectful. OOC (I encourage personality IC so be a dick if thats what pleases you)
3. Do not cheat. Cheating includes but is not limited to; metagaming, powergaming, and hacking.
4. When Applying you may only start with up to 30 Counties in your country.
5. You may add up to an additional 8 counties each week. This will increase over time.
6. The Time scale in this rp is 1 week IRL is equal to 2 years IC. _{Weeks Start on Sunday and End on Saturday.}
7. Realism will be enforced with an iron fist. And you must roleplay.
8. Gunpowder is available.
9. Inactivity will not be tolerated. Two weeks of inactivity will result in ejection from the rp. If you need more time than this or think you might telegram the Admin or The Moderators and you'll be excused.
10. Technology advances at the same pace it did in our real world with little exception, how you innovate this technology using logic and tactical thinking is up to you.

Rules for Colonizing:
-Colonizing and claiming are completely seperate things.
-When colonizing you claim normally like you would if you were in Europe. Buuut (see below)
-You are have a limit to how many counties you can own dependent upon your population. (see below)
-The limit of counties you may have is 1 county x every 25,000 thousand population you have. In example. Colonies count towards your expansion. (see below)
-I have 100K population. That allots for a total of 4 colonies globally. (Colonies count for anywhere outside of your starting continent.)
-All colonies are fair game feel free to compete.
-Colonies will not be taken without bloodshed, aside from inhabited lands (good luck finding them)

So be warned.

4. Be creative.
5. This is to deep at a point in history where real world cultures so keep in mind what cultures would influence yours when you apply.

The Fall of The Young British Empire
~Great Britain was beginning to get of it's heels when finally struck by rebellion of disgruntled minorities in the counties, The British were divided, The Ever so Independent Irish were the first to break away, The Scots, Welsh, and Cornish soon followed, failure to quell all the rebellions led to the downfall of the up and coming British Empire, The Welsh and Cornish counties that won their independence in 1697 convened on what to do next. While the 'British' were no longer a threat, the new English Crown was still, so together the Counties of Cornwall and Wales Confederated into the Republic of Wales. Several Irish counties including Dubhlind (now day Dublin) petitioned the Republic for conjoining with the Union, after several months of Logistics planning the Irish counties were accepted. The Isle of Mann fell as a dependency to secure trade and military dominance on the isles and was thusly seized by the New Republican Army.
~After the Violent and widespread revolt that broken the back of the "British" Government, and sent The English Crown's control into disarray, a new state formed in England. Out of the ashes of the English crown a Newer, freer, English Republic rose in rebellion. In the west the Welsh and Cornish Countries fought their war for freedom, and in the east the English Free Army waged a bloody war against the Crown. In a very cunning and dangerous maneuver, The English Free Army captured the city of London, throwing out the Monarchy and having the Crown and it's supporters arrested. The English Free Army, bolstered by new recruits and now remnants of the English Crown's Army, went on the offensive westward, northward, southward, and all around to hunt down the remaining Loyalist armies.
~The British Colonies soon fell into anarchy and were quickly and with prejudice taken aback by their former native inhabitants.
~The Colony of Cuba revolted against the government of the British Empire along with the other subject states, and many other islands took the same chance, falling together in a coalition. The French Colony of San Domingue was left in turmoil after a slave revolt, and was assimilated by Caribbean forces, with the slaves being swiftly put down, their leaders executed, and stricter discipline enforced. Most all of the other Caribbean colonies joined the Republic, or were assimilated. The Code Noir remained in force, with the only distinction between citizens being between masters and slaves. The free coloureds are equal to the whites, and all slaves equally inferior, though coach drivers and horse carers are still slightly favored.

Europe's Affairs
~In the 10th Century, a king conquered Cumbria and formed Denmark. Then they became Vikings and converted to Christianity. During the crusades, a Military Order known as the Heliolandic Knights overthrew the Danish Kingdom and established a new monarchy/Oligarchy which was focused on developing the Military and Economy. In the Protestant Reformation, Denmark converted from Catholicism and into Protestantism. They also sent in Explorers into the New World and India
~ The Papal States shattered apart as rebellion spread across the nation, soon rebel forces had taken over Rome, replacing the current theocracy with a monarchy, renaming the country to "The Imperial Provinces of Rome" It soon began to invade neighboring nations, annexing them into their empire, with the goal of the country to unify Italy, and afterwards to restore the Roman Empire.
~During the Reconquista, Comitolia was a county under the control of Galicia. Count Fernando the Great fought ferociously under the King of Galicia, until the last Muslim was removed from the peninsula. However, tensions had been brewing. Castile, a rival kingdom, used intrigue and assassination to plague all of Galicia. The King of Galicia fell ill, his mind turned to mush, after his only son and heir was killed under suspicious circumstances. The King proceeded to accuse his vassals, including Count Fernando, of being a traitor. Fernando would not let this stain on his honor go unpunished. He allied with other vassals and a great war was fought for the independence of Comitolia. The now King Fernando emerged victorious. Comitolia has remained ever since, having multiple disputes with other nations within the Iberian Peninsula.
~The Dutch Republic was proclaimed in 1568 at the beginning of the Eighty Year's War against Spain. Through years and years of struggle the nation finally gained its independence in 1648 with the Treaty of Muenster. Since then the Republic has worked hard to expand its holdings in global trade, and to strengthen the flourishing banking sector. Though the Dutch Republic is a small nation with little in the way of resources or manpower, it is not to be trifled with.
~The Kingdom of Gaul was founded or rather proclaimed in 1698,by Count Gautier who led a short yet bloody war with the current french monarchy. Known as the Great French Skisim,which started with the regicide of the French Monarchy,the country of France fell into disarray with many Nobles and Zelous Clergy members taking their holdings as priavte countries with various families rising small armies to defend their cities,ultimately reclassifying France as a large series of city states.
~Count Gauteir proclaimed himself King of Paris in 1699,and called his Kingdom Gaul after the acient people of Gaul who viciously fought the Romans. He uses the Gaul to insight his peoples rich and diverse history of acient people,to create a sense of national unity.

American Interlude
~After Cortez's arrival to the coasts of Veracruz, Montezuma invited the strange looking man into the capital of the Mexica. Many priests warned the Emperor of great danger, while others argued that Cortez could be the long awaited Quetzocatl. Fooled by the color of Cortez's skin, Montezuma left the Empire exposed to Cortez's plans. After Montezuma's assassination, Cortez and his men attempted to escape the city, but failing to do so as thousands of Mexica descended upon them. Hundreds were killed, including Cortez, and those that weren't were enslaved and stripped of their weapons, including their ships at bay, full of weapons, animals, and crops never before seen by the Mexica. Over the next few days, however, terrible epidemics of the decomposing Spanish bodies swept through the now leaderless city, killing hundreds. When Cuautemoc was elected to the throne, he quarantined the city and isolated those infected. Slowly, the crisis passed and the city returned to normal. Over the next centuries, the Mexica Empire would come to use the captured Spanish to bolster their own technological development. They were to be put to the test when a second expedition arrived nearly twenty years later to Yucatan. The weaker Maya could not hope to beat the now larger expedition force. When they requested assistance from Cuautemoc, he agreed and Mexica Warriors entered the fray. The Europeans were annihilated and relations between city states of Mesoamerica increased. Using the excuse of Mesoamerica being exposed to conquest from these unknown foreigners, the Maya were assimilated into the Triple Alliance, forming the beginning of the Mexica Empire as more city states would join.
~Now, in 1700, two centuries of development and progress, see the Mexica Empire as the dominant force on the continent, ready to send their first diplomatic envoys East, from where the light skinned invaders are believed to have originated from.

The Purple Phoenix and The Valley of Kings
~In 1456, right when the final war between the Ottoman Turks and the last Byzantine stronghold, Constantinople was about to be under siege, a miracle happened... The Mamelukes from the South invaded Anatolia after a Turkish fleet mistakenly sunk numerous Mameluke trade ships near the Dardanelles. With the new enemy, the Ottomans are forced to post-pone the siege and defeat the Mamelukes, stationing a small garrison of only 2,000 Turks to hold the massive city from sallying out. This was true, until the early 1457, when the current Byzantine Basileus made a secret treaty with the Wallachian Prince Vlad The II, The Serbs, and the Bosnians, into a secret coalition. This Coalition mobilized their forces once they heard news the war between the Turks and Mamelukes was at a stalemate in Anatolia. From there, The three partner nations invaded Ottoman Europe, overwhelming the very small garrisons dotted around the country. The Byzantines rallied their forces, raising the Varangian Guards, and assembling an army of Greeks, they launched out, and broke the besiegers. In 1458, it was over for the Ottomans in Europe, the Coalition seized all their European holdings, but, not all good things lasts. Soon, disagreements led to bitter conflict, as the former allies waged war on each other over land. In the end, with Vlad the II being killed by a rival prince, the Bosnians forced into vassalization under The Serbs, a partitioned was reached. All people groups in the area would be granted independence, and the lands the forces currently occupy would be kept. This what created the Balkans we know of today.
~But, peace didn't last forever, because in 1510, the Turks rallied to the cries of the humiliation they suffered, and invaded the Balkans once more, leading the Wars of the Aegean. This war, at first, heavily favored the Turks, as Byzantium and the Greek states they we're invading we're still recovering and were not ready at all. Things seemed very bleak, as if the Turks would once again enter the Balkans. Yet, some miraculous happened. In 1511, ships under the command of the Theodore Kingdom came south of the Black Sea, along with a huge transport fleet of Jewish regiments, wishing for a Jewish state to be established. They landed in Northern Anatolia, they swayed the neutral byzantine enclave of Trezbon to aid the war . The Turks we're faced once again a 2-front war, and shortly the war turned in favor of the defenders. Then, from the south, Knights of St.John & Remnants of the Templars invade Antioch, expanding the war. In the end, in 1513, the Ottomans under great dourest, we're forced to surrender, their Sultan and many of his heirs dead. The peace deal was heavily in favor of the Defenders, they established two byzantine kingdoms in Anatolia, The Byzantine Empire received land in Anatolia, and Trebzon seized land as well. This peace treaty was the final straw, and the Ottoman Empire fell apart, now various Turkish hordes fighting amongst each other to claim the former title as "Sultan of the Turks"
~Ever since then the Balkans have been at peace, kept for the many small wars between the Serbs and Montenegro, The Bulgars against the Macedonians, and the Serbs against the Bulgars. Byzantium and the Greek states have flourished under the Renaissance and prospered.
~Egypt was largely content with its lot as an Ottoman province. However, the increasingly disastrous Ottoman attempts at expansion push more towards rebellion. When the Battle of Vienna was lost, Egypt descended into open rebellion. Independence has just been firmly established, with the government stabilized. Viewing the Ottoman failures as failures of intellectual thought, the new government adopted customs of the Europeans, such as elected advisors to the leader. The new Egypt is interested in establishing it's legitimatecy by taking control of Mecca and the Holy Land. Also viewed as important is gaining European technology.
~Bulgaria was one of the Balkan states freed from the Ottoman empire, originally a large empire. Under the Treaty of Balkan-Bulgar protection, the rest of the Byzantine border was granted to Bulgaria, to protect against expansionist ideas from that area. The Balkan states and Bulgaria have an uneasy truce, as if the Byzantines win, the area might come under threat from re-conquering Romans, but the Cultural differences with the Bulgars make fierce rivalries.

Venetian Ambition
~Founded in the waning years of the Western Roman Empire and under the influence of the Byzantine Empire, the Republic of Venice rose over the centuries to become the greatest trading power in the Mediterranean. At the peak of Venetian power, the republic directly ruled Crete, Cyprus, much of the Aegean Isles, and briefly held sway over regions as far away as the Crimea.
~This period of influence would end during the 1510s, as other European powers looked to the wealthy republic as a source of spoils. This league, known as the League of Cambrai, included the Kingdoms of France, Spain, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Papal States. The War of the League of Cambrai initially proved disastrous for Venice, as the republic lost ground in Lombardy. The tide shifted as the reigning pope, fearing that foreign influence in North Italy would undermine papal authority more than Venice, withdrew from the League of Cambrai before joining Venice's side. With the withdrawal of Spain from the League and the shift in allegiances of the Holy Roman Empire, the war shifted in favor of the Holy League of the Holy See, Venice, and the Holy Roman Empire.
~After nearly a decade of war, the hostilities ended with the 1521 Peace of Milan. From the peace arrangements, Venice regained rule over Verona, and gained small portions of Tyrol. Despite its mainland gains, the republic went into a period of decline, as the costs of the war hampered Venetian influence on the seas. Over the course of the 17th century, Venetian military influence in the Aegean dwindled, and the islands of Crete and Cyprus were re-sold to the remaining crusading orders. The abandonment of Corfu marked the low-point of Venetian influence, as the last decades of the century saw the restoration of the Venetian Arsenal, the reconstruction of its merchant fleets, and the reestablishment of Venetian trade emporiums in the Mediterranean.
~With the Republic on the rise once more, many of Venice's aristocracy look to former the Venetian holdings in Corfu, Albania, and Crete as stepping stones for Venice's climb to prominence.

Crisis in The Mediterranean
~As a massive trade dispute is the Eastern Mediterranean ends with the Byzantine empire embargoing Venice and seizing ships and cargo, trade in the region has been severely impacted.
~The ancient rivalry between Constantinople and Venice was known around the world. However, while they constantly sought for trade power in the Eastern Mediterranean, their co-operation was essential to the entirety of the region. Constantinople, the city connecting the East to the West, was the end point of many Eastern traders. The city where they would sell their Eastern products to be sent to the West and buy Western items to sell in their homeland. Venice, the most powerful European trade hub, was the end point of many European traders. Thousands of merchants from inland Europe would travel by caravan into the floating city to sell their Western goods and buy Eastern goods.
~By breaking the flow of Western and Eastern trade goods, traders seeking a profit would find none. Western goods would begin piling up inside Venice, with little place to sell them. Eastern goods would do the same in Constantinople, seriously disrupting both nations economy and trade. Venice, attempting to find a new Eastern trading hub would flock to Egypt significantly boosting Egyptian economy and trade power. Constantinople, on the other hand, would bypass Venice and look to a new Western trade hub, Rome, significantly increasing its trade power and economy.
~The situation was made even worse for the giant trade powers by the actions taken by Comitolia and the West Indies. The Triangular Trade (the trade flowing from Europe to Africa to the Americas) was already making headway on the ancient trade routes through the Mediterranean. With new incentives to enter African and American markets, and heavy disincentives from entering the Mediterranean, thousands of merchants would rethink their profit-generating strategy, and ships used to making the trip to Venice and Constantinople would join the up and coming Triangular Trade.
~Following the hostilities between The Kingdom Bulgaria and The Byzantine Empire both sides have called out to the states in the Balkans, Anatolia, and Black Sea. States begin to pick sides with each swelling the military numbers and power of their faction.
~The Grand Duchy of Greece declared it's support for the Bulgarians, in the name of defending their country and annexed land and Capital in Athens. Committing all 51,000 Soldiers & 12 Warships to Bulgaria against Byzantium should war come.
~The Kingdom of Epirus declared on the side of Bulgaria in support of Greek Unity under a Greek State instead of under the Byzantine Heel. The State of Epirus has committed 23,000 & 11 Warships in defense of Greece and Bulgaria should war be declared on either state or if Greece is to enter war.
~The Principality of Lesser Byzantium, a state comprised of Trebizonds and The Theodrans has pledged their support for The Byzantine Empire. Arming over 20,000 Soldiers for the oncoming war and stating an unconditional declaration of support for offensive or defensive conflict.
~The Kingdom of Macedon shortly after declared it's support for The Byzantine Empire, stating clearly a greater union is better than fractured countries. It declared its entire military of 43,000 Soldiers to fight alongside Byzantium in an offensive and defensive war.
~The Jewish Kingdoms, Nikaea, Dioclea, & The Serbians have all chosen a path of neutrality with threats of war from Jewish lands if their neutrality in the crisis was once more violated.
~The Turkish Caliphate threw insulting threats towards Bulgaria and Byzantium. In an act of aggression annexed several small cities near the ~Principality of Lesser Byzantium. Boasting 68,000 Thousand Soldiers, and Several powerful artillery guns, a force to not tread on.
~In the following month.
~The Grand Duchy Of Greece began mobilization on Macedon and Byzantium's border.
~Macedon shortly afterwards militarized on Greece's, Epirus', and Bulgaria's border, preparing for war.
~The Turkish Caliphate began instigating incidents with The troops of Lesser Byzantium.
~Greece and Epirus formally declared war on Macedon and invade.
~The Principality declared war on The Turkish Caliphate and shortly afterwards the Caliphate invaded the lands of Trebizond.
~Macedon appealed to The Byzantine Empire for Military Support
~Greece and Epirus did the same for Bulgaria
~The Principality appealed to the Byzantine Empire for Support against Turkish aggression.

~In the Year of 1702 the fronts on The Balkans became increasingly cold. Tensions between the Welsh Republic and its Channel neighbor Gaul became increasingly hot. This led to a near confrontation in the disputed territories of Breizh/Brittany. Colonization by European powers began at an all time high in the year. Seeking to spoil the riches of the New Worlds.

He allied with other vassals and a great war was fought for the independence of Comitolia. The now King Fernando emerged victorious. Comitolia has remained ever since, having multiple disputes with other nations within the Iberian Peninsula.
