It is the Year of Our Lord 1850 and the world is completely unrecognizable.
Two hundred sixty two years ago, the mighty Spanish Armada triumphed over the English fleet. An invasion of England ensued, with the Spaniards seeking initially to cut the flow of aid to the forces in Holland and install a loyal Catholic king on the throne. The English rabble were quickly overwhelmed by the experienced Spanish veterans; the country was placed under occupation, and a member of the Stuart family placed on the throne. This quickly took on the face of a foreign-imposed, illegitimate king, and soon bands of guerrillas roamed the countryside. The ensuing bloodbath would break the back of the Spanish Empire. Unwilling to back down, Phillip II would pour massive amounts of resources and money into the struggle, oftentimes at the detriment of their forces in Holland. What had initially turned out to an attempt to ultimately crush their rebellion in Holland became a bloody and costly guerrilla war, with atrocities being committed by both sides.
After years of struggle, the Spanish forces eventually withdrew. Plunged into debt, and with unrest simmering within their empire, their power had been shattered. The massive investment into the conflict had come at the expense of their fronts, straining their resources. The once mighty Empire fell into a steep decline - one that it could not recover from - with the restoration of Portugal and rebellions in Aragon, Madrid found themselves struggling to manage and hold its colonies. Back in England, they had been dealt heavy blows - however, determined not to repeat the same disaster, the people there slowly began to rebuild.
Now, over two centuries after the victory of the Armada, the world has changed. New nations have been carved out of the ashes of once-mighty empires. Revolutions have shook the very foundation of nations, and different governments have come to power. Wars are waged and treaties signed. Leaders seek power and glory. An imperialist fervor has descended upon the peoples of Europe, as nations scramble to build their empires, competing with their rivals for land and resources. In this brutal world, survival of the fittest is an absolute truth. Will you lead your nation into peace and prosperity, establishing an empire to be remembered for centuries to come? Or will you crumble, unable to bear the strain, and be reduced as a footnote in the history books? The possibilities are endless - and only you can determine what path your nation will tread.

- Don't be rude/disrespect other players. Seriously.
- Be realistic; don't automatically know your enemy's movements and deployments.
- Minor PODs are allowed before the Spanish Armada - ask me if you're not sure if it's allowed or not.
- The OP and Co-Ops word is law, but I reserve the right to overrule the Co-Op if it becomes necessary.
- No one-liners, even if it's a meeting. At the very least, you should have a paragraph of 3-4 sentences.
- Don't argue in the OOC if it does not pertain to the plot or IC. If you must, bring it over to TG.
