Late last night, after 7 hours of playing Civilization 2, I reached a stalemate. Nothing was really happening. There were fronts everywhere. Wars were being raged constantly across the globe. There were tales of the brave few who defended against the hordes of enemies on one side and those who were launching themselves into a meatgrinder on the other. Most riflemen had a 25% chance of survival.
Earlier in the week, I read a book called 'Old Man's War" (It's probably one of the better modern sci fi books., anyone who loves sci fi should read it), and in that our heroes were fighting from planet to planet with absurd weapons and desperate odds. These two worlds started to match up, so why not put them together? In the book, there are few allies. If you saw something without two arms and legs, then chances are they wanted to make you breakfast. Same thing in this CIv 2 game, minus the whole eating each other part.
And here's where we are. I have the map laid out. I have the nations' names and their cities all written down. I have the national preferences and 'abilities' so to say, rather figured out. What I don't know is where do I want to go with this world. How do I want to RP it? How do I want the players to view it?
And so here we are. I want help and ideas from all. I'm gonna be posting my developments for this world on here, and I will also put up all the stuff I've got already. I have a lot of backstory in my mind and from my game, so I'll just have to write that up. If anyone has any ideas for more backstory to any nation, feel free.
So won't you help me in my quest? In due time, more of this world will be fleshed out, and maybe, just maybe, we might be able to make something bloody cool as a team.
