18th Century: The Principality becomes increased aligned with and dependent on the Roman Empire.
19th Century: The Principality starts modernizing along with the Roman Empire.

I think you missed my other post.
If a Rambo has a brilliant display of literary marvel that rivals Shakespeare, I don't care it if it 1 million jet fighters from the future with Martians backing them up. Rambo is going to win.
So... numbers really don't matter. Don't stress over it. That's one of many reasons why I don't care much about population but rather quality of history. Population and other numeric values are a... ceremonial spaceholder... when it comes in comparison to how unique your app is and how awesome your posts will be ^^

Full Nation Name : Greater Commonwealth of Saxahvall
Majority/Official Culture : Indo-Scandinavian
Territorial Core : Southern India, Central India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Eastern Cape of Good Hope, Socotra, and Zanzibar
Territorial Claim : The remainder of India and Indochina
Capital City : Rolighavn (Mumbai, West India)
Population : ~120,000,000
Government Type : Crowned Republic
Government Ideology/Policies : Pan-Indian, Expansionist, etc.
Government Focus : The government gives much of its attention to alleviating cultural tensions, bringing its economic and technological level up to the world standard, and maintaining a strong military so that they may carry out their conquest of India.
Head of State : Keiser (Taking after the Western title) Thror III Solburg
Head of Government : Prime Minster Rama Majumdar
Government Description : While initially a Kingdom, Saxahvall made progress towards giving the power back to the people until finally and over many years, it became what it is today. The Kings of old no longer hold the power that they once did, and now the power rested on the shoulders of the country’s parliament. The Parliament in question is divided into two houses, the Upper house being the Nobala, and the Lower house being the Logom Ka. There is a Judicial branch of government that includes all judges regardless of station. And lastly there is the Executive branch which includes the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers, as well as the Emperor who holds an honorary seat as a Minister.
Majority/State Religion : Dhanga å Være
Religious Description : A merger of Hinduism and Norse Paganism
Economic Ideologies : Capitalist, though with a fair bit of governmental influence
Major Production : Cotton, Textiles, Sugar, Rice, Jewelry, Iron, Emerging Industry
Economic Description : In the midst of an industrial revolution, sparked by western nations who have brought new ideas to India, Saxahvall has thus tried to at least moderately regulate the economy in order to keep out western monopolies and the like.
Army Strength : Can draw upon an immense population to fill its ranks, and with industrialization they are more easily supplied with equipment and basic necessities
Army Weakness : Not particularly modern technologically or tactically, and inexperienced
Naval Strength : Fairly sizable and has better leadership than some
Naval Weakness : Not particularly modern, well supplied, or experienced
Further Military Description : Saxahvall has a standing army of 100,000 members whose task is to primarily prevent incursions from across the northern border, as well as put down internal revolts. However, with an immense population to draw from, there is no shortage of manpower should the need arise. As for the navy, less of a focus is placed on maintaining its naval presence. However, with the looming threat of Great Britain and other great powers, their focus on the army is beginning to make shift.
National Goals : Unite India, Conquer Indochina, industrialize/modernize
National Issues : Reformation and modernization of the military, stronger cultural ties, a concrete national identity, and better representation of native Indians
National Figures of Interest : There may be some that pop up over time
National Ambition/Aspirations : To create a nation worth having pride in
History :
(913 AD) With tales of rich lands to the far east brought by the Silk Road, a noble Norseman by the name of Hjolt had glory and wealth set in his mind. Hjolt bought or built three ships and subsequently set sail southward with them.
(913) After nearly two months of travelling, and losing several men to hostile natives while taking on supplies, Hjolt and his expedition reach the Maldives, with which they use as a base of operations. Hjolt soon travels to Sri Lanka and the southernmost tip of India and begin raiding. After several successful raids, their luck begins to turn as the Kings in the region begin putting up some resistance.
(914) With their ships loaded with the spoils of their raids, Hjolt and his ships depart back to Norway. Despite the long journey to and fro, Hjolt sees potential in returning to the rich lands of India.
(917) Using his share of the spoils to purchase more ships, and pleading with the local King to provide him with more ships, Hjolt returns to India with four more ships.
(923) After several trips to India, Hjolt has set up a permanent base of operations on the Maldives, from which he conducts raids.
(927) The King whom Hjolt had pledged allegiance to dies, and Hjolt subsequently declares himself the King of the Maldives. King Hjolt begins encouraging his fellow Norwegians to migrate to his Kingdom.
(936) King Hjolt begins an invasion of Sri Lanka
(944) Much of Sri Lanka is under Hjolt’s rule. Hjolt moves his capital to modern day Colombo
(947) King Hjolt is succeeded by his son Hraldr
(971) King Hraldr passes quietly in the night, during his reign the focus is set upon alleviating tensions between the invaders and natives, rather than more conquest. Hraldr is succeeded by his son Gellir
(974) King Gellir begins the first invasion of mainland India, which fails to gain much if any ground.
(979) King Gellir sends his brother Heimir back to Norway, Sweden, and Denmark to try and attract warriors
(980) The King’s brother returns with more ships and warriors, and after several months of preparation, the second invasion of the mainland begins
(982) A sizable portion of the tip of India was conquered, however on the field of battle, Gellir was killed in single combat. Following a succession crisis, Gellir’s brother Heimir takes the throne
(990) Heimir dies after making only nominal additions to the Kingdom. He is succeeded by his son Svein
(1003) Following a period of instability following his father’s death, King Svein continues the conquest started by his Uncle
(1004) After making significant gains, Svein was murdered by several of his own men. Svein was succeeded by his son of only 8, Bragi
(1007) The power of the King is curbed by Bragi’s noblemen, in essence creating a constitutional monarchy much like England
(1014) Bragi continues the conquest like his predecessors
(1016) King Bragi and his men reach modern day Bengaluru
(1017) A coalition of southern states rise against the threat Bragi poses, and after several successes, Bragi is eventually forced to remain at Bengaluru
(1022) King Bragi fights back against the laws made by his noblemen, but ends up doing more harm than good. Bragi loses the war on his nobility, and is forced to abdicate in favor of his more malleable cousin.
(1166) Further incursions into the mainland are made, causing much of the south to fall to the Kingdom of Saxahvall
(1189) Goa falls to Saxahvall
(1213) The capital is moved to modern day Kochi
(1283) All of southern India falls to the Saxahvall menace
(1453) Mumbai falls to the Saxahvallans and is renamed Rolighavn
(1484) Much of the capital is destroyed after a Hindu revolt, rather than rebuilding, the King decided to move his court to Rolighavn.
(1485) The same King who moved his court to Rolighavn had the audacity to name himself Emperor of India
(1498) Contact is made with Portuguese explorers, who are surprised to find Europeans already present
(1500) The turn of the century appears to trigger a Golden Age begins as cultural tensions begin to simmer down, and overall conditions within the nation improve
(1502) An attempt by the Portuguese to found a colony is thwarted by the Saxahvallans
(1617) An event in Saxahvallan history known as the Death of a God occurs. The title refers to Saxahvall’s likely best ruler save for its founder. During a civil war between the legendary Emperor Arian the Scholar and some of his noblemen, he was slain on the field of battle, and the power of the Emperor was thereby eroded beyond repair
(1644) The current borders of Saxahvall are established, and the Golden Age begins to ebb away as the country begins to stagnate economically
(1656) A serf rebellion leads to the abolition of serfdom within Saxahvall, and subsequently upsetting the balance of the country for centuries to come. This event is commonly called the Great Escape in reference to the mass displacement of individuals
(1661) As a direct result of the Great Escape, a reactionary response by the nobility leads to a number of massacres before peace is restored
(1690) An early form of a constitution and parliament is established, though the constitution would be altered and remade numerous times
(1693) The reigning Arud family begins a coup against the constitutional which is evicted from the capital for a short time. A provisional
government is temporarily set up in Kochi
(1694) Following a disastrous military defeat, the Emperor and the remaining members of the Arud family are arrested and exiled. The House of Raske, a branch of House Arud, is given the throne
(1712) The Enlightenment hits Saxahvall like a storm, and the constitution is remade to accommodate for growing popular sentiment on what a government should and should not be allowed to play a role in
(1739) The House of Raske is extinguished and the current reigning family is installed
(1755) A wave of Jingoism sweeps the nation, and within the year an army is dispatched to conquer Gujarat
(1756) Gujarat is taken by surprise and quickly subdued, though the conquest is short lived as the British later take it from Saxahvall
(1767) The first native Indian member of Parliament is elected
(1788) Following a major drought and subsequent food shortages, a major depression hits Saxahvall like a storm, this leads many in rural parts of the country to migrate to cities
(1802) The final string is cut, and almost all of the Emperor’s former powers are taken away. These powers are given to the Parliament, and the first Chief Minister is elected by the people
(1823) The first indications of an Industrial Revolution take root
(1825) Rolighavn hits ten million inhabitants
(1848) The first Indian is elected as the Chief Minister
(1850) Present day
Saxahvall has had a long and bloody history, from the first arrival of Hjolt, to the conquest of southern India, to the fall of Mumbai. Yet, through all that there has been much progress, and since the first arrival of settlers India has become a melting pot of both cultures, and from that pot a brand new people has been forged. Somewhere along the way the people of Saxahvall stopped calling themselves Indians, or Norse, they are now simply Saxahvallans, and that blissful harmony is something they will not stop until each and every individual in India is given the same. So, this is merely the beginning of Saxahvall's story, and it is far from the end.
