The Bare Neccesities

Every Journey Starts With A Beginning...
The time, is riddle with tension. The world, dystopic and bare. For it is the Year of Our Lord, 2024. And the Third World War has just ended. Declared the Second Pacific War, as a homage to the once beautiful stretch of sea that birth it, the name of the conflict does not do it justice. It involved countless nations, stretching its cancerous conflict across 3 continents and 2 oceans. Fanned by the flames of a world wide economic depression, it silenced man's hope for peace, unity, and prosperity. Nevermore.
To us, at the time, it seemed that humanity would be its own judge, jury, and executioner. Except for the intervention of me, and my Institute. A global business conglomerate, the Ravencroft Institute International was on the cutting edge of technological development across all major fields before the start of the war. And when the civilized world shattered in that firestorm of economic depression and mass bloodshed, it was us who battered out the flames, and picked up the pieces.

Every Tale Has Trials...
Now, fast forward seven months. The year, is 2025 and humanity is slowly recovering from the conflict. And it shows. Due to wide-spread destruction caused by the Second Pacific War, the Great Economic Crunch and the countless unpopular conflicts of the early 21st century, out cries among the citizenry have caused nations to a adopt a policy of marginalizing their state militaries. As a result, many of their positions and jobs are now outsourced to private security firms, such as Ravencroft, who provided countries with military power in turn for profit. The title "Private Contractor" has become the most popular, and lucrative, job on Earth. Controversy, high-tempers and political mud-slinging abound for supporters and detractors of this system of tit for tat. And in the eye of the storm, stands Eureka.

Every Generation Has Heros...
An artificially created island, twice the size of Great Britain in the North Atlantic, the privately funded, top-secret instillation plays host to a previously unknown facility. Eureka's Academy of Military Science, Games, and Theory. Commonly refereed to as The S.T.A.G Program, or STAG Academy by those in the know. It is an exclusive, private boarding school. Tailored for the worlds intellectual, military and moneyed elite. Famous for state-of-the-art facilities. Notorious for its trademark curriculum: Warfare. From live-fire exercises to virtual reality sims' spanning conflicts throughout the centuries, students of different nations, classes, leagues, and other schools lock and load on the daily to secure their lives and their GPA.

And so we come to you. The first class of public students, newly arrived at STAG Academy and the beginning of your Cadet-life in a island world of the future. The road that you travel will not be an easy one. So prepare yourself, for the Eureka Experience. Because this, is Your Story.
OP is God
  • Obey the OP. My word is Law, Supreme and Final.
  • Obey the CO-OP(s).
  • Respect the ban.
  • Follow PT2M Rules & NS site policy.
Don’t Be That Guy
  • Do Not Godmod. Do Not Metagame.
  • Do Not Run My NPC’s.
  • RSVP Before Inactivity. TG Me or a Co-Op before hand and save us all the hassle. Three days absence will leave your characters open to OP/Co-Op control if plot development is required, and will earn you a strike. Five days plus with no explanation will have the player removed from the RP.
  • Etiquette. Be nice, be respectful, be adult, no one has a right to be rude, and don’t let your having fun stop other people from having fun.
Post Expectations
  • Write Quality.
  • This is not our first rodeo, so I'll only say this. One liners and poor grammer are Forbidden! Absolutely, expressively, in every way, shape, and form.

This RP is heavy High Science Fiction and Anime influenced. For those who already have a taste for this mix of genre fare, we welcome you to try our brand of it! New to the idea? Well don't feel left out. Join up with us, see how it suits you and add your own take on to our established Themes. Other players may currently have characters that are part of your favorite genre. Bear this in mind when you apply. Their established PC's, NPC's, and background canon takes priority. If you sign up and are approved but don't post, your character will be dropped from the roster.

Specific genres and sub-genres that have been included are:

  • Future Tech
  • Mecha
  • Cyberpunk
  • Dystopian Adventure
  • Army Academy/School Life
  • Drama/Romance/Comedy/Slice of Life
  • Robotics & Androids
  • Military Action

Sticking with our Anime-oriented roots, we have a variety of tropes, rules and mechanics at play in From Rifles & Roses. Now, before you embrace this too much, remember. We still give a fleeting, peck on the cheek to Reality. Now, for your view pleasure, here are a few already at work:

(I highly suggest you read the OP pages completely prior to filling this out, and use them for reference when creating an app.)

(Fill it out as requested. Do not shift, add, change, or modify the Application format in any way, shape or form please.)

(Erase all words in parentheses when finishing app)

Required Information
Name: (Pretty obvious. I suggest unique and non-repetitive names.)

Sex: (Really obvious.)

Race: (Original, or Partial? If a Partial, give a specific description of animal mutation involved and to what extent it is.)

Age and Origin: (Age restriction of 13-19. Your character’s age will define some things about them. What they like, what they remember, what they grew up with, and how they act now. Be sure to have a Birth Year, Birthplace, and Nationality.)

Picture Appearance:
(Straight forward. Gives you and the other players a way to visualize the character. If image is too large, find a smaller sample or URL text link it. Please do not spoiler it.)

Character Class Specialities: (This is where you spruce up your character. Notice that the classes given are optional. If you want to make your own mains and sub-classes, go for it. You just have to get a Co-Op or Me to approve it first.)
Insert Class Type (Infantry, Armor, Navy, Air Force)| Insert Specific Class (Commando, Mobile Gunner, Submariner)

Insert First Subclass Choice

Insert Second Subclass Choice
Height, Weight, Body Type: (Imperial or Metric work. The choice is yours. Pictures are nice, and give a view, but added stats are the cherry on sundays, the milk with cookies, and the presents with Christmas.)

Equipment: (What are you packing? Otherwise we'll just assume your characters wandering around naked and penniless.)

Character Story: ( Think of it like a side quest away from the  main story line, and an easy way to keep yourself engaged when the OP doesn't deliver. A brief discription on the path you see your character taking through the first chapter and the rest of this story. Five sentence paragraph minimum, unique and something you'd be engaged in.)

RP Example: (Grade-A quality and preferably recent. Veterans of OG&G and After World: T.W.C., forget about it. You get A-List benifits.)

Additional Fun Stuff: Not Required

Personality: (The life blood of your character.)

Moral Alignment: ( How your character will most likely make a situation work, and how they will react to a situation by trying. Basic DnD alignment grid. While chosen alignment will not rule black and white over choices, it should influence them strongly.)

Bio: (If personality is the lifeblood of your character, this is its heart. A treatise on Life or War & Peace isn't required. But one, two, maybe a few grammatical paragraphs might be nice.)

Sex Orientation: (Because the world likes diversity, and so do RP's. Straight, Gay, Bisexual, Antisexual. What are they? This can effect who your character is, and how they react to people. Need specifics? Try Google)

Theme Song: (For those aurally minded, or just dramatic like me, a song is always nice. Gives ambiance and adds atmosphere to your character. Theme Songs will be included in the Of Grades and Grenades Soundtrack Project.)

The Eureka-verse: Welcome To The Experience

Jargon & Slang

*Civilian( Ci·vil·li·an \ˈsəˈvilyən)|C-One (c·one \ ˈsē wən)
Noun| A resident of Eureka not directly enrolled as an employee of Ravencroft Institute International, its subsidiaries and affiliates, or a student in the Eureka S.T.A.G. Academy. Civilians are tertiary denizens, or third-class body politic, in Eureka.

Meaning they cannot vote, they cannot hold office, they cannot own lethal weapons, or involve themselves in Island politics. They are also free from the expectations and responsibilities that Citizens and Veterans are held accountable for. Everyone is born a Civilian, and from the age of 13 every Civilian has the right to apply for a minimum 4-year term in the STAG Program, or as an employee for the Institute.

Only after completing a term of Employment or Studentry can Civilians gain the title, rights and responsibilities of Citizenship.

*Can be used as derogatory slang to describe non-Eurekans and non-citizens.

Citizen (Ci·ti·zen \ˈsidizən ˈsidisən)|C-Two (c·two \ ˈsē to͞o)
Noun| People who are Employed or Students and were given franchise. Individuals such as these have the Right to Vote, the Right to Hold Stock, the Right to Assembly, the Right to Bear Arms, and the Right to Hold Public Office. Becoming a Citizen does not necessarily mean the military, such as the R.S.S., and applicants may be assigned to any field where they sacrifice their time and effort for themselves, Eureka and the greater good. (Teaching, any of the civil services, experimental test subjects, etc), though military service is the most glorified and sought after. It all falls under Citizenship.

Veteran (Vet·er·an \ˈvedərən ˈvetrən)|V-Three ( v·three \ vē THrē)
Noun| People who have been honorably employed in the Ravencroft Security Service for up to ten years. Their status of Citizenship is upgraded to Veteranship, allowing them perks for themselves and their family that are hard to obtain for Citizens and impossible for Civilians. Examples are a company provided pension and retirement plan. The Institute is also more supportive to their needs once they discharge from the Security Service.

Vekking Up( vek·ing up \ 'vek iNG əp)
Verb| Popular slang for the action of introducing and self-administrating the drug 'Vector' into the body usually through skin injection, eye drops or oral ingestion.

Reffing Down (ref·fing down \ refiNG doun)
Verb| Popular slang for the action of introducing and self-administrating the drug 'Refrain' into the body, usually through skin injection, eye drops or oral ingestion.

Satisfaction (sat·is·fac·tion \ sadəsˈfakSH(ə)n)| Sats (sads)
Noun|The opportunity to defend one's personal, club, or League's honor in pre-arranged combat. Fought with lethal and non-lethal weapons according to an accepted code of procedure, with an certified referee, especially to settle a private quarrel. Lethal duels have recently been made illegal in the Special Administration Zone. Participation in a lethal duel incurs the penalties of large fines, jail time, public Corporal Punishment, Academy Expulsion, Employment Termination, and/or Deportation.

Innie (In·nie \ˈinē )
Noun|A contemptuous social slur for members of the Invictus League.

REZ (T͟Hē rez)
Noun| Short for The Reservation, an uninhabited natural reserve that encompasses most of the islands land mass. See "A Cadets Guide To Eureka" spoiler for more information.

SPAZ (T͟Hē spazz) | The Zone ( T͟Hē zōn)
Noun| Slang for the SPecial Administrative Zone, a collection of major metropolises of industry and infrastructure on one side of the island. See "A Cadets Guide To Eureka" spoiler for more information.

The World (T͟Hē Wərld)
Noun| Slang term describing the collections of nations-states in the globe and location of non-Eurekan people.

League (lēɡ)
Noun| Powerful blocs containing many Classes among the Academy studentry who concentrate their member strengths and studies on a particular military subject area such as the Land, Air or Sea based warfare.

Class (klas)
Noun|A main division of students that are all assigned in the same classroom. Structure is similar to a company or battalion in national armed forces (Example: Invictus Class C-2).

Section (ˈsekSH(ə)n)
Noun| A sub-division of students that make up a Class. Commonly displayed in rows or columns, each Section is similar to a military squad or platoon in national armed forces. (Example: Class C-2 Section Acolyte)

Groups & Organizations

The Incorporated Free-States of Eureka

Secretly founded by the Ravencroft Institute International in 2014 as both a place to headquarters their business conglomerate and a human society experiment. Construction began as early as 2010, and has never officially ended. Sections and areas of the island are constantly being built up according to the islands needs. Before the Second Pacific War, it was the third most heavily defended site in the world. Presently, its in second place, after the Korean DMZ became defunct. As Chairman, Founder and President of the Institute, Richard Ravencroft represents Eureka's sole executive power in its government, which is called the Directorate.

People have always known of its existence. Just like people know about any of the other hundreds of top secret sites in the world. A lot more became known of the island after Ravencroft used Eureka as a staging point for its attack on the instigating nations of the Second Pacific War. In summary, the world know it exists. They know Ravencroft owns and operates it. They know that teenage, genetically enhanced, technologically superior super-soldiers live there. And they know that anyone whose attempted to enter the island uninvited has never been heard from after.

Economically, Eureka is in the midst of a Golden Age, mostly by design. Defined by the decline of the old great powers, the rise of itself and other corporations to prominence, Eureka acts as the physical representation of the Ravencroft Institute. Already an industrial giant, the Institute's development of Eureka as a nation, its particular society, and its taking the role as a world leader has led to unprecedented benefits for those lucky enough to be included in this exclusive nation.

For example:
Eureka has no financial deficit or public debt. Its administrative spending is always covered by the Ravencroft Institutes profits. Eureka has no tax system for the population. No income tax, no sales tax, no monetary burden that slates money for administration use. This is possible since Eureka generates its own revenue through the selling of Ravencroft products. Currently Eureka produces half of the world's industrial output, and 1/3 of its products is a Ravencroft brand. Unemployment is 0% (All citizens are employed, since everyone on the island works for Ravencroft). Literacy and writing is at 100%, with the average individual on Eureka having an education degree equivalent to a Masters and earns 70,000 - 100,000 Eureka Sovereigns annually (Equal to $420,000 - $600,000 Post-War USDs).

STAG Academy

The Academy is a place whose main objective is to train adolescents from the ages of 13 to 19 into highly-trained special forces over a four year program. Those who survive to graduate are entered into the Ravencroft Security Service (R.S.S.), the Institutes private military contractor subsidiary company for a 10 year enlistment. During those 10 years, the now full trained adolescent troopers are hired out to fight for nations and organizations who pay Ravencroft for the service of providing soldiers and hosting the conflict. Additionally, they also serve the Institute as its paramilitary wing when conflict arise that endangers Eureka or the Institute.

The STAG Academy campus is a mammoth sized institution, the islands unofficial 5th city. It encompasses miles of territory within the Special Administrative Zone, containing within it dozens of buildings and structures. From garages and workshops, barracks and restaurants, armories and airfields, traditional classrooms, cafeterias, and sports stadiums. All of this is surrounded by a magnetic bullet tram system that helps students get to where they need to go fast.

Cadets from the Academy inhabit a very high pedestal in Eurekian society, superseded only by those of Veteranship Status. Since their participation in the Second Pacific War brought about Eureka's rise to prominence and halted a Third World War from spiraling out of control, Cadets are celebrated throughout the Eureka Isle's and are very well thought off by the general population. The attitude towards S.T.A.G. cadets and personnel is different, depending upon where you go. The most S.T.A.G. friendly countries are the United States, Japan, Great Britain and Germany. They are most popular with the middle and lower classes of a society, as well as nations who suffered heavily in the war (primarily due to their reconstruction and rebuilding assistance through the RavenAid Program). For the middle-upper classes, and former national soldiers who fought them, the S.T.A.G. Cadets usually receive a combination of the cold shoulder (no one likes getting defeated by teenagers), passive-aggressiveness, but with grudging respect and even a little bit of fear.

The Great Crunch
The result of a 2008 Great Recession that never abated, The Great Crunch was a prolonged economic downturn that lasted from 2008 to 2024. It is thought that the financial meltdown would have continued without the intervention of large, mega corporations like the Indigo Group and the Ravencroft Institute, who assisted war torn nations

The Second Pacific War
Races: Since Eureka made its dramatic debut to the world in the aftermath of the Third World War, a stream of fantastic and innovative science has been introduced to the larger world in a trickle-down effect. Once of these, is the development of a true concept of race that redefines the whole argument on what Humanity is.

Originals- Your everyday human beings, relatively unchanged for +10,000 years. This genetic makeup represents a majority of the student body and personnel on Eureka. A multitude of people from every demographic can be found among them, including those with cybernetic improvements and robotic aesthetics. A common enough practice in the world-of-tomorrow society of the island.

Partials- Genetically spliced individuals, enhanced and changed through a series of medical, cybernetic and bio-technology, courtesy of Ravencroft. Not as common outside of the Eureka Isle, they represent a large minority of the island population. The differences they display because of their genetic make-up can be as subtle as increased faculties in senses, to physical and psychological similarities to the animal they had been spliced with. Basic genetic makeup of a Partial individual cannot exceed a ratio of 49:50 animal to human DNA, a boundary known as the Origin Curve, without significant side effects and severe consequences. The science behind the creation of Partials is discussed more in-depth in the OP Section 'The Eureka-verse'.

Year Rates
First Years - Fresh fish and meat for the grinder. Mandatory enrollment in the Invictus League for acclimating fresh Cadets to the Eureka experience.

Second Years(OP & CO-OP NPC's Only) - Soldiers of the Suck. They now know the score, and are back for more. They play the role of senior instructors and are generally ranked as NCOs.

Third Years(OP & CO-OP NPC's Only) - Grizzled Veterans. Assist in the maintaining the Academy, and helping out with League work. Usually have reached the rank of Staff Officers.

Fourth Years (OP NPC's Only) - Battle Ax’s and Old Ironsides who have survived the worst S.T.A.G. threw at them. They are the General Staff, the Joint Chiefs, Student Council if you're feeling quaint. Their authority is second only to directives from Ravencroft.

Ranks
In Eureka S.T.A.G. , superiors and subordinates are decided on a merit and seniority based system. The better you do in subjects, simulations, on the battlefield, and how long you've attended the academy will reflect where you stand on the school hierarchy.

*Going left to right you have your rank brace followed by the specific ranks. Ranks with a slash designate a separation and their equal equivalence to each other. This means that the rank to the left is standard for land and air forces, with the one on the right standard for naval usage.*

Commander-in-Chief| Grand Marshal (of Combined League Forces)
General Staff | Field Marshal/Fleet Marshal/Sky Marshal
Staff Officers | General/Admiral, Colonel/Captain, Major/Commander, 1st Lieutenant/Lieutenant JG, 2nd Lieutenant/Ensign
NCO (Non-commissioned Officer) | Sergeant Major, Staff Sergeant, First Sergeant, Corporal
Basic Cadet | Lance Corporal, Private First Class
PC (Prospective/Probation Cadet) | Private

Leagues:
Over the years of its operation, the Academy has seen the inclusion of Leagues into its structure, which act as a way for like minded students to connect and build camaraderie throughout year rates and ranks. Similar to fraternities and sororities, the benefits one can obtain through association with the right League can lead to power, wealth and prestige unobtainable otherwise. Currently, there are 4 officially sanctioned Leagues: Defion, Leviathan, Aer Vis, and Invictus.

Defion - Infantry lead the way, and so too does Defion. This leagues ranks are filled with sons and daughters of high-ranking military figures from national armed forces who are attending STAG. The League is renowned for their member's discipline and toughness on the battlefield. Their cadet's show an iron will and unnatural cool when under the most fearsome fire has attributed to their reputation. This positive factor is tempered by their reputation for unnecessary roughness against other league members and a "squad before self" mindset bordering on brainwashing. Their League's strengths are in Land Combat, skilled in the application of Infantry and Armored forces. It is currently represented by Field Marshal Abhilasha Ettrick.

Leviathan - Colloquially known as "The Brain Tank", Leviathan members are usually related to or sponsored by individuals high in the ranks of the global Academic community. Technical and bookish sorts tend to be drawn towards Leviathan, who hosts the largest array of Cyber Warfare specialists of any League in the Academy. The general reputation of Leviathan is a positive one, as their members act the foil to Defion. Like its name suggest, those who join Leviathan seek to become masters of the waves, with their strengths being in Maritime combat and Naval skills. Its present leader is Fleet Marshal Joey Ocean.

Aer Vis - This is where the Money meets Politics. Children of businessmen, statesmen and even the occasional royalty partake in this Air Force-affiliated League Of course their skill on the battlefield is no laughing matter. Masters of speed and agility amidst the fog of war, they are professionals of cavalry and aerial dog fighting, shaking the skies of Eureka with sonic booms while thundering through the land on horseback. While respected for their skills, they have gotten a bad rap around the school for elitism, brash arrogance, and general douchebaggery. Their current commander-in-chief is Sky Marshal François De Clare .

Invictus - A League of academic losers, anarchistic troublemakers, and where generally poor excuses of humanity are led to congregate. It is also the first stop shop for all incoming freshmen who have passed the Academy Entrance Exam. While they are the most active participates in the simulators and vastly out number the other leagues numerically, they are seen as the Academy's underdog, since Invictus doesn't excel in any specific military branch. As a result, they are shunned as inferior by their more masterful Leagues. Being a Jack-Of-All-Trades, their Cadets seek unorthodox tactics, off-the-wall strategies, and underhanded methods to overcome their conventionally superior rivals. It is currently "led" by a coalition of upperclassmen, which rotates the position of leadership to whoever is doing the least worse at the moment.

Subject Chart:
A class system of sorts. It will determine what areas in combat you excel in and which ones you don't. Your personal performance in simulations as well as your leagues overall success in live-fire exercises depends on your strengths and weakness, and will lower or rise your prominence in the league and school according to how you apply yourself.

(INF)
Infantry is the practice of fighting on foot in structured units with small arms.
(ARM)
Armored combat is the operation of light, medium, and heavily armored land vehicles in a battle-zone
(ARTY)
Artillery deals with gunnery skill and the utilization of heavy land-based weapons and ordinance.
CAV)
Cavalry deals with horsemanship and the application of mounted weaponry and equipment.
(AF)
Air Force deals with the use of aviation vehicles, weaponry, and equipment.
(NV)
Navy proficiency deals with the use of maritime vehicles, weaponry, and equipment.
Infantry

  • Grenadier|Ideal Tank|- A straight up tank and is usually the cornerstone of the front line. Carries the most protective personal armor, as well as the heaviest firearms of the group. Raw physical strength and large body build give this specialty an edge in melee and close quarters combat.

  • Combat Ranger|Vanguard|- A snipers delight and high damage dealer, the Ranger acts as overwatch and distant support for the Grenadier. Armored to move over a variety of terrain quickly, the Ranger has a versatile combination of long-range and medium range weaponry, if not as heavy as the Grenadier, then just as deadly.

  • Commando|Front Line or Guerrilla|- Has the highest endurance of all three Infantry specialities, being imbued with a high tolerance towards physcial pain and mental fatigue. Commandos can survive where other classes would not. But it is also the easiest class to abosorb damage. Commandos have almost no defensive skills and are only able to equip light-weight personal armor, equipment and weapons. Instead of absorbing damage, this class relies on evasion for defense. Most Commandos take advantage of the class's stealth abilities to get close to an opponent unnoticed and then attack viciously with a high-damage skill. To compensate for this, the class has a high evasion rate and the greatest resistance to melee combat. This allows the Commando to function as an stealth-type tank.

Armor

  • Armourer|Offensive Front Line, Rear Guard Sniper| - Operates the units medium, heavy and main battle tanks, as well as middle-weight artillery. This is done primarily through engaging enemy forces by the use of direct fire in the frontal assault role. By its very nature, the Armourer, is an offensive class similar to the Grenadier. Being a protective encasement with at least one gun position, it is essentially a mechanized pillbox or moving fortress that can move toward the enemy – hence its offensive utility.

  • Battle Scout|Vanguard, Back Row Sniper, Support|- Charge with reconnaissance in force in light recon vehicles, supporting the main attack in armoured cars, and transporting infantry in personal carriers and fighting vehicles. This is the role of the Battle Scout.

  • Mobile Gunner|Vanguard Attacker, Back Row Sniper, Support|- Mobile Gunners are the core of an army on campaign: the weapons that win battles, break bunkers and batter down walls. Through their application of superior fire power on mechanized platforms, they send shells plunging into enemy formations and over defences, making cover irrelevant. Mobile Gunners recieve a splash damage and bleeding bonus to their attacks, enabling enemy casualities to pile up over time.

Air Force

  • Interceptor|Vanguard, Skrimisher|- Closes quickly to deal direct damage, while swiftly making distance from the enemy to use their range capability to great effect. Assists in a varitey of nimble aircraft ranging from light fighters to helicopters. When working as cavalry, plays the role of light hussars and mounted dragoons.

  • Airman|Front Line Fighter, Offensive Vanguard| - Airman apply pressure to the enemy while attacking as a buffer for the Bombadiers and Interceptors. Like all the factions of the Air Force, they deal directly with the Infantry and Armor forces providing air to ground support.

  • Bombadier|Ranged Damage Dealer, Back Row or Center Support| - A tank of the air, this class is pure damage dealing from afar able to incapacitate whole units and obliterate the heaviest defences by flying a large rang of bomber aircraft. In pre-modern combat, they play the role of heavy cavalry and lancers. Bombadiers tap into the power of the Air with fierce and powerful aircraft, the Bombadier has the highest range damage out of the twelve classes and is essentially the air force counterpart of the Rifle Guard. However, this class suffers from low endurance and defense and can easily die in combat if attacked. Normally, a Bombadier is more of a support fighter and likened to flying artillery. They are not meant for front-line combat unless the Bombadier is well-defended.
Navy

  • Submariner|Rear Attack, Controlling Special Weapons|-Submariner are a naval unit that deals specifically with all underwater craft. They themselves have extremely low endurance, surviveability and defense stats. However, due to the wide variety of arms (torpedos, missiles, deck guns, etc.) that are at their disposal. Their unique ability to access special weapons (Chemical, Biological, Nerve, and Nuclear) that can have an overwheling influence on the battle spaces environment. A Submariner role within a party can include offense, defensive, or support. This inherent flexibility makes it an extremely popular class among players, including solo Cadets.

  • Cyber Forcer| Rear Strike, Battlefield Management |-Among the twelve classes, the Cyber Forcer has the highest tech stat. However, its offensive damage in conventional terms and melee is extremely low, due to them recieving the lightest weapons, making it inherently a support class. Its surviveability is also very low, making it an unsuitable class for lone wolfing and the least popular class of all twelve. Cyber Forcers are usually able to stay in combat for long periods of time than their more physically active counterparts, making them optimal for managing units, events and information at a strategic level. They generally support other unit members through hacking, cyber espianoge, and electronic warfare rather than engaging directly in combat themselves.

  • Surface Seaman|Ranged Damage Dealer|- The most universal of all three Naval classes, the Seaman's role is the operation and implimentation of all surface-borne sea craft and weapons platforms. For the most part, Seaman act as the triggers aboard the ships, taking on the role as floating batteries that assist the Infantry and Armor on land.

Sub-Classes

  • Battle Surgeon - Medic class. Good for any class tree and a neccesary feature for any combat unit. Gives character training in medical procedure and skills for warfare of all periods. Now coming to a battlfield near you.
  • Quartermaster - Ups endurance, allowing the character to backpack more munitions and equipment to assist the unit. Good for all classes, especially infantry.
  • Blue-Ribbon Gunner - Increases accuracy on field artillery, armored vehicles and heavy weapons platforms. Useful for Naval, Armor and Airforce classes.
  • Born To Kill - Increases characters tenacity and damage dealing in close-quarters-combat and melee. Useful for all Infantry classes, especially Grenadiers.
  • Border Patrol - The character has gained an innate knowledge of the Reservation and the Sims by physical exploration. Increases the likely hood of missions by having a mental walkthrough of the battlefield.
  • Pathfinder - Has developed an innate sense of direction and discovery. Boosts a characters perception of their surroundings. Can find hidden traps, paths, ambushes and clues from their enviroment. Benifical for Infantry classes, and is an added bonus for characters with Border Patrol and Spotter.
  • HALO Certified - Character has been trained in High Altitude-Low Opening military parachuting for quick insertion into an enemy A.O. Useful for all Infantry, Armor and Air Force classes
  • Equine Expert - Characters have mad skills with horses and other animals. Useful for a majority of the simulations and war games dealing with most of human history (B.C. to Early 20th century A.D.)
  • Spotter - Well-versed in the ways of the sniper team, this class ups a characters perception and arms skill with long-range weapons. This buff also applies to a the unit the spotters in. Great additions for Combat Rangers or Commandos.
  • Hazmat Prepped - Your character is prepared against all threats, foreign body bacteria or domestic. Chemical, Biological, Posion Gas, Nerve Agent, and Radiological attacks are slightly nerfed against characters with this class, allowing them to stay in a infected area and remain fighting for extend periods of time.
  • Devil Dog - Similar to the HALO Certified, this character buffs a Naval class with basic Infantry class skills. Levels the playing field when the Navy needs a show of force on land.
  • Field Mechanic - Can repair all manner of weapons, equipment and vehicals, as well as McGyver jury-rigged things when fixing it just isn't enough.
  • Combat Engineer - Character has the ability to set repair infrastructure, and shore up defenses. From pillboxes to pontoon bridges, this class has the ability to construct unparallel military fortifications Presence on the battlefield gives local units a defense buff so long as the Engineer remains in play.
  • Signal Specialist - Well-versed in communications procedure and operation, this class is vital for any military operation that relies on a constant stream of information. Acts as the units messenger and radio operator.
  • Sim Technician - Some fight fair. You fight to win. Your character has obtained an intimate experiance with ARIES-S code. You've know where all the backdoors to this virtual reality are; what bugs to avoid and what glitchs to exploit, if your unit ever needs that "extra edge".
  • Papers, Please! - Your character is a member of the notorious Academy Discipline Committee. You've developed a talent for smelling out trouble where none seems apparent. Characters with this sub-class have been trained in counter-intellegence, allowing them to identify enemy Commandos, even while undercover. Your presence on the field gives a boost of morale (or at least fearful motivation) to soldiers on your side.
  • Don't Fear The Reaper - Your character has died enough in Sim to lose his fear of the Man in Black. Characters endurance and strength are boosted. Useful for classes with low survive-ability.
  • Deadly Ambidextrous - Dual wield melee weapons and akimbo sidearms. Increased damage and hit-chance. Penalty towards stamina for melee weapons, reloading speed for weapons, and accuracy for both.
  • Demo Expert - A team's heavy supporting class, specializing in explosives. Purposed with inflicting extremely high amounts of damage upon crowds of soldiers, armored vehicles and robust fortifications, but is far less effective against enemies in close proximity. Movement penalty due to the extreme weight presented by carrying the teams explosive ordinance.
  • Operator - A distant cousin to the commando, the operator class specialists in deception and subterfuge, sacrificing firepower and any sort of armor. Unrivaled in disguise and infiltration, the operator does best behind enemy lines spreading misinformation and committing precise acts of sabotage. With extremely limited carrying capacity for firearms or explosives the operator has to rely on subtlety, tampering with enemy machinery rather than blowing it up and spreading misinformation rather than jamming operations wide communications for example. In a supporting role the operator can join friendly units of all sorts to assist in setting up ruses, bluffs and feints or simply remaining undetected.

Stand By! This Is A Civil System Announcment...
Image
This be our all important bulletin board for all FR&R news and updates .
Never leave this thread, with this post unread.

  1. Change of date and venue. We are going to turn the clock back a bit, about 19 years to, when Eureka went public and opened its doors to the average (I use that word very loosely) kid. Reason for this is that I'd like to have players more involved in the RPs storymaking. What better way to make lore than to have it come directly from the PC's actions!
  2. You can apply as a character you have already made, or make a new one. Keep in mind, our theme of Realism however. A character used in this prelude will not pull an Ash Ketchum and still be the same when we return to the older plot point. Cameos and guest apperances with your aged character are a possiblity.
  3. Events established in the first installment are canon to the Eureka-verse, unless I or a Co-Op find a reason to amend them. Only reason we would do that is to iron out wrinkles in the timeline.
  4. PC's are going to be corralled into Invictus League for this installment. I bit off more than I should have last time, with having players in four active leagues. I became overwhelmed trying to create and maintain active NPC's in each of the Leagues, leading to reduced development of each NPC, less face time for each, and poor post quality when I did manage to post.
  5. PC's will take the role of a newly applied/volunteen-told cadet. What does this mean? It means that for the most part, I want the Eurekan Experiance to be something totally off the wall to your PC. They, for the most part, should just be your average, everyday kid whose signed or been signed up for something that isn't your average high school.
  6. PC's are going to have a more active school life. I focused too much on the military aspect of the RP, neglecting that it does say "Academy" in the title. Clubs, electives and organizations are going to be a lot more prevelant and influential this time around. Orchestra, School Radio & TV, Student Council, Panty Raiders Anonymous. No limit or amount to the clubs or what their type is. In this plan, Leagues are going to assume the role of fraternities and sororities. Albiet, with enough weapons to destory small countries.
  7. Here are a few selections from the OST I'm building for the RP. Feel free to make post your own and request for songs to be added or songs to be dropped. I'd love feedback on them:OG&G Main Title, Of Rifles and Roses Main Title, Valston City Theme, Invictus League Theme

Your OP's Post Schedule (for the near future)
  • Conversation posts will be daily, if not more. Depends on the convo length and my free time.
  • OP game (events and the like) posts will usually be posted two days after we reach the point for them. So 2-3 days of waiting.
  • I may ask everyone to take a day or two and fast from posting. Probably because I need the time to work out a Major game post and I want them to be quality. 1-2 days of waiting
  • If I take longer than the respective limits, I will shoot a TG explaining the sish to the Co-Ops. One among them will then assist and make the neccesary post as my NPC.

A Convienent Atlas
Image
Maps are the road on which adventure travels.
Though getting lost is half the fun.

Eureka Isle: A man-made island roughly twice the size of Great Britain (182,466 square miles/ 472,585 square kilometres) located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is the headquarters of the Eureka Academy of Military Science, Games, and Theory (S.T.A.G.).

The Reservation: The majority of land encompassing Eureka. For the most part, it is completely devoid of infrastructure, and retains a large amount of diverse wildlife. The biosphere and topography were specially designed to encompass geography from every part of the globe.

The Special Administrative Zone: A small, overdeveloped section of Eureka that acts as the command and control core for the entire Isle. It plays host to the three major population centers of the island, a majority of the island surface infrastructure and is home to the Academy. Visitors, tourists and personnel not connected with Ravencroft or Stage are required to remain within the bounds of the Zone. Besides the Navarone Proving Center, it is the only place on the isle where students are not allowed to instigate hostilities with other students or leagues without instructor approval.

Eureka S.T.A.G. Campus: A mammoth sized institution. It encompasses kilometers of territory within the Special Administrative Zone, containing within it dozens of buildings and structures. From garages and workshops, armories and airfields, traditional classrooms, cafeterias, and sports stadiums. Whatever it is, the campus probably has it.

Secondary Sidearm: (Pistol usually, though I & the CO-Ops may accept a micro-SMG of sorts. Play to your PC's strengths, and make it class specific.)
Melee: (What you use when your ammo runs dry. Nothing crazy, and keep it period specific.)
Lethal Equipment: (Fragmentation Grenades, White Phosphorus, & other explosive and non-explosive lethal.)
Tactical Equipment: (This is important! Here goes any equipment that your characters class and sub-class belongs with. I.E. Extra ammo & rations for Quartermasters sub-classes, Bio-hazard suits for Hazmat Prepped, Medical equipment for Battle Surgeons, Field Radios of Signal Specialist.
Misc: (Anything else that you'd like your character to have when he/she ports into the sim)

Here are some quick notes on it

-For assistance in choosing, and for visualizing, you can use Inna Woods. I will be using it for my NPC's, and always have, for RPs that deal with ever-changing equipment load outs.

-Make sure that the equipment is all up to period (i.e. the time period that the sim is in) and that it works with your class (i.e. Grenadiers wouldn't have sniper rifles. Cyber Rushers & Submariners won't have Heavy Machine Guns). When you have completed the app, send it over TG to the CO-OPs in your squad.

-Here is a basic weapons view of what can be had for mains, sidearms, and other equipment. This is just a basic overview, which means that most weapons from the mid and late 1990's are also available. You just have to Google them, and make sure they are period appropriate.

-Brush up on the battle zone. For roughly 2 days, and one night, your aspiring cadet characters will be playing as the Somali National Alliance, as it attempts to destroy the UN and U.S. military forces entrapped in the city. Basically, this will be a Slayer Hunt-Kill mode game, in which You (the player characters) will root out, and attempt to completely destroy the Opposing Force (Upperclassman NPC's). Secondarily, you will attempt to stop the Opposing Force from completing any of their objectives, which will be explained to your characters IC'ly.

As of now, the IC is set to start the Entrance Exam today, once I post. If you have any questions, I ask that you direct them to the Co-Ops, who will then address them to me, if they aren't sure on the answer.

Alrighty, so I still haven't read anything - but I'm starting to brain storm :D Either of these sound like they've been taken:
                - An armour unit (haven't figured out which yet) who suffers from something of a split-personality (cliche I know), with her normal personality being innocent, kind and something of an overly-cautious goody-two-shoes - completely at odds to her chosen occupation - while the other is a sadistic, rebellious deviant (Result of a gene-splicing experiment?).
                - A medic that's out there trying to do some good in a cruel world.
                - I'm also being drawn to a submariner actually, but don't know where I'd go with that at current.
                - - Bentus

Even though I'm probably still going to not be involved, I'll still tag here just in case.

I like slow, especially when I suck at keeping up with the RP at all...:P. Doesn't help that me "babysitting" a 1-year old dog seems to be wearing me out, or just doing anything, even though I've hiked well lately...I think I just value my calm and doing whatever the hell I want, when I want more then dealing with wired puppies :P. But hey, this reminds me yet again why I don't want children :P. Sounds like way too much of a handful if dealing with a puppy for 14 days is gonna be tiring enough on me.

I agree on this statement. I can't keep up when things go super fast in RPs.
