Mass Effect: The Prothean Treasure (Dead)

Around one month after the Battle of the Citadel, the Galaxy was shocked to discover that the valiant Commander Shepard was believed to have been killed when the SSV Normandy was destroyed. These (greatly exaggerated) reports of the Commander's death overshadowed a discovery made in another corner of the Galaxy: a partially intact Prothean VI which dispensed information on a Prothean cache of unimaginable proportions. According to the data recovered from the VI, the cache is believed to contain Prothean weapons, technology, priceless Prothean cultural artifacts and precious minerals galore. However, the VI was too badly damaged to give the exact location of this "treasure," and the research team which discovered the VI was only able to recover a few data fragments which provided clues to the cache's location. The research team spent over a year putting the pieces together to try and narrow down the cache's location. Unfortunately, they discovered that the most likely location was somewhere in the Terminus Systems, an area where human colonies were reportedly disappearing. Despite the danger, a few of the researchers decided to try to go to the Terminus Systems on their own to find the cache: they were never heard from again. The other researchers had a falling out and went their separate ways, with each trying to find their own way to locate the treasure which now consumed them. Some sought help from their governments, some contracted mercenaries, others tried to make deals with... less reputable characters.

Now the race is on to be the first to find the treasure. Whether seeking it to help one's people, out of an academic fascination, or due to good old fashioned greed, numerous ships are now braving the unknown perils of the Terminus Systems in hopes of finding the cache for themselves before it's too late...


Hello everyone and welcome to The Prothean Treasure a Mass Effect character RP which takes place just before the events of Mass Effect 2. Here players will RP treasure hunters: whether seeking glory, profit, or just following orders, all will be drawn to the mysterious Prothean cache. Will you be the first to find the treasure?

The important choices from ME1 are as follows (please let me know if I forgot any): Shepard was a Paragon, Ashley and Wrex survived Virmire, the Council was saved, Anderson was made the human Councilor

Armor: Standard-issue Alliance Medium armor
Abilities: First aid, Neural shock
Strengths: Top notch Physician, excellent strategist and tactician, good in medium to long range combat.
Weaknesses Doc is by no means a super-soldier. On the battlefield, his tactical knowledge and medical abilities are far more valuable than his combat skills. He is a good shot, and at medium to long range he can be quite deadly with his M-99 Saber, but against all but the weakest enemies, short range or melee combat is little better than a death sentence.
Bio: Erwin von Braun was born on Terra Nova. His father, an Alliance Officer, fought for a short time in the First Contact War before being injured and sent home. When he returned, he started training young Erwin in the ways of warfare, ensuring that his son would be well prepared for military service. Erwin proved to be a talented tactician and strategist (and a good shot) and planned on enlisting as an Alliance infantry officer after college. It wasn't until college that he discovered he had a talent for Medicine and changed his plans from becoming an infantry officer, to becoming a medical officer. After graduating from Medical School and completing Alliance officer training, he was made the Chief Medical Officer onboard a small frigate, the SSV Yorktown. He served with distinction in the Eden Prime War and participated in the Battle of the Citadel. After a rapid rise through the ranks, he now finds himself the Chief Medical Officer and Second-in-Command of one of the finest Cruisers in the Alliance fleet.

Bio: Nelson is a veteran of both the First Contact War and the War of Eden Prime. He proved himself to be a talented strategist and officer in no small number of engagements, as well as a talented diplomat, and the Alliance brass took notice. When construction was completed on the SSV Dallas, he was chosen to be her commanding officer.

2130: Born in Yorkshire, England

2148-2152: Attended West Point

2152-2157: Served as Tactical Officer aboard the Light Cruiser SSV Cheyenne, promoted to Second Officer in 2156.

2157: First Contact War. Was patrolling Shanxi on the Cheyenne when Turians attacked. As the Captain and XO were planetside at the time, he was forced to take command of the vessel. For two months, the Cheyenne supported Alliance forces on Shanxi by providing orbital strikes in a number of “hit and run” engagements. However, near the end of the second month, the Turians caught up with the Cheyenne and critically damaged it. The Cheyenne was forced to retreat back to Alliance territory, but not before completing the last orbital strike request. Nelson promised ground forces he would return shortly before retreating. The Cheyenne was the last vessel to leave Shanxi. Though the Cheyenne was damaged beyond repair, Nelson was assigned as Tactical Officer to the Cruiser SSV Berlin, and kept his promise to return a month later alongside the Second Fleet. For their actions at Shanxi, Nelson was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and he and his crew were awarded the Distinguished Service Medal.

2158-2160: Continued serving as Tactical Officer onboard the SSV Berlin.

2160-2166: Nelson returns to West Point to study Military History, receives a Ph.D. on the subject.

2166-2175: Assigned as First Officer on the SSV Agincourt, promoted to Commander and given command of the Agincourt in 2168.

2176: Skyllian Blitz. Fully employing the knowledge of Tactics Nelson had accumulated over the years, the Agincourt is able to destroy countless Pirate vessels during the Blitz before reinforcements arrive.

2176-2178: The Agincourt continues hunting down the Pirates responsible for the Blitz culminating in the Battle of Torfan.

2179: Nelson is promoted to Captain, and given command of the advanced new Cruiser SSV Dallas.

2179-2183: Though largely assigned to routine missions, Nelson nearly constantly has the crew involved in training exercises. Though this was initially much to the crew’s chagrin, the value of these exercises would soon become apparent.

2183: Eden Prime War. The Dallas, along with the rest of the Fifth Fleet, engages Sovereign and the Geth Forces at the Battle of the Citadel. Thanks to the crew’s training, the ship’s advanced technology, and Nelson’s tactics, the Dallas is able to destroy a large number of Geth vessels while sustaining only minor damage (and thanks largely to Doc, suffers no fatalities). Nelson, Doc, the crew of the Dallas and the rest of the Fifth Fleet and the Citadel Fleet are awarded the Palladium Star.

2183-Present: The Dallas is again largely assigned to routine missions, Doc is promoted to Commander and made First Officer.

Abilities: Well-trained close combat specialist; hand-to-hand combat expert
Strengths: Stoic - displays no emotion and does not allow it to affect her judgement. This not only allows her to remain calm in stressful situations but also has the added value of intimidating those she speaks to. Relentless - she will not stop in the pursuit of whatever it is she decides is worth her time.
Weaknesses Stoic - some people just cannot accept a stoic Turian and are put off by the way she acts. Stubborn - she does not give up. This can lead to some very painful and costly experiences. Pride - leads itself to her stubbornness, forces her to dedicate herself to pursuing something which may not pay off.
Bio: Her parents fought on the frontline during the First Contact War with humanity, a conflict which resonated within Milotina throughout her years as that new species expanded at an accelerated rate. Her younger years were fairly uneventful, although she passed with higher-than-average results in Military Academy. When her mother was killed by Batarian pirates in the Terminus Sectors, Milotina's father took it upon himself to seek revenge. The resulting bloodbath left a Turian frigate destroyed and over eighty bodies cooling on a small mining facility. A dishonourable discharge was posthumously granted to her father, something which left a stain on her own record for the few years she remained with the military.
Never really able to come to terms with their quite frankly violent deaths, nor with the disapproving glances she got from those who knew what happened, Milotina left. Pooling together all the money left by her parents, as well as that of a dozen fellow retirees, Milotina bought herself in to command of a frigate of her own. Initially she and her fellow Turians were partnered with a Volus merchant, however after a botched trading run, Milotina took over control of the operations. Taking to the life of a free mercenary and merchant with gusto, Milotina has slowly crept towards the Terminus Systems.

Both apps look good :) I did make a couple minor changes to the app though: I added a section asking for the characters' class (eg Soldier, Infiltrator, etc.), I added an optional Appearance section for the ships (because I liked that Argentumurbem included a picture of his ship) and I fixed a mistake where I accidentally left a [b] in front of the "Ship Details" so if you could edit your apps to account for that, I'd appreciate it :)

@ Flame Dawn, I was looking up the Geth on the Mass Effect wiki and I think I have a good idea for your ship's armament and defensive systems:

Armament: Disruptor torpedoes and ultraviolet GARDIAN batteries (according to the wiki, these are more powerful than the infrared GARDIAN batteries used by the other races, but they also consume more energy)

Defensive systems: Kinetic barriers and ablative armor

That was just what I could find after a quick glance though (of course, you're welcome to make changes if you'd like). Sure you can, in fact Flame Dawn has already made a Legion-esque Geth character. Maybe for an interesting twist you could make your Geth character a Geth Heretic? Then we'd even have the Geth competing against each other to find the treasure

Sure you can, in fact Flame Dawn has already made a Legion-esque Geth character. Maybe for an interesting twist you could make your Geth character a Geth Heretic? Then we'd even have the Geth competing against each other to find the treasure


not to big a fan of the heretics, would it be ok if they came from a separate faction? that way we can still have the interesting twist, and i do not need to RP as something i do not like. If that is not ok i will probably play as a bunch of quarian or turian mercs

Appearance: Caucasian of Scottish descent, tall and well built with brown hair and green eyes. Is either dressed in his armor, some bad-ass civy clothes, or nothing. Also has Alliance military tattoos and one tattoo of a flaming blue warrior angel on his chest.
Allegiance: Himself, his friends, the contract.
Class: Vanguard, I guess
Weapons: M-96 Mattock, M-22 Eviscerator, M-6 Carnifex, knives
Armor: Crisis/Hazard Armor X, with personal customization
Abilities: Weapons expert, Close quarters combat specialist, biotic abilities
Strengths: Has proficiency with most weapons, prefers close-medium range combat but can adapt to longer ranges if need be. Commands best in small groups or by himself. Has strong biotic capabilities.
Weaknesses Has trouble leading large groups of people. Untrained in biotics' which means he is not as strong in that department as he could be. Not as strong at long range combat. Has a weakness for doing the right thing.
Bio: Jack MacTavish was born in Canada, on earth, to a low income and troubled family; his father was a raging alcoholic and regularly beat his mother, who became a drug addict a couple years after Jack's birth, and Jack himself. Jack's biotic abilities began to develop at a young age, but since his parents didn't care enough to notice he was able to learn how to suppress them before anyone else caught on it; though he was still young and didn't understand the significance of what he had, he had heard enough to know that children who had biotics quickly disappeared. Jack soon learned to look after himself and surprisingly did very well at school, both academically and socially. That all changed when the domestic issues at home started to trickle into the classroom, a teachers snide comment soon turned into a torrent of peer abuse, that lasted all through basic schooling. He was still able to keep his grades up even with the abuse he faced at home and at school, and though he still had a fair number of friends, mostly disreputable types, he was considered the trouble kid that nobody should touch in fear of getting infected and becoming a loser. Everything changed when he was 17. Jack snapped from the pressure and resigned himself to amounting to nothing in life and decided to join the Alliance military where he might be able to amount to something. Forging his parents signatures he went to the local recruitment office and joined up, spending the next ten years of his life in the military and never seeing his parents again. His career coming to an inglorious end when he was told to quit by several of his comrades after getting into a fight with several officers while off-duty, and before they could press charges he had up and quieted. Spending the next three years as a gun for hire, only then revealing his biotic abilities.

Yeah sure, figured that most mercenaries wouldn't have their own ship, so it made more sense not to have one.

hmmm you got me thinking about it, but I think I'll remain ship-less and see if anyone's willing to take me for now, if nobody does I'll change my app to include a ship or steal one... or something. Just thinking it might be interesting if a couple of characters meet up early in the RP, or start the RP together.
