This is the thread where everyone in the New Nation RP can get the crazies out. There are no rules here, and none of this is canon.

Vidar looks out of the window to his right. From there, he can see the blossoming city spreading out before him. He sits in an abandoned warehouse. His mask conceals a smile across his scared face. ' There is work to be done' he thinks. He turns around and walks back into the warehouse. From the top of the guard rails, he could see everyone in the building. ' This group of a mere 11 men,' he thought to himself once again ' is going to bring about the new order.' "men!" he yelled. All members of Black Phoenix stood at attention to their leader. " It is time to begin operation Nest!"

Jabal Tawil Outpost
2015

The military's main headquarters was technically in the Military Department of the capital in New Jamestown but in reality, it was at the outpost at Jabal Tawil, a mountain in the north. Patrol operations were being undertaken by the regular military as always. General Dunn met with Captain Thompson, one of the men who deserted with Dunn when he was passed over for promotion as a Major. "Captain Thompson, always good to see you." "Likewise, General. For our size, the Columbian Continental Military has a good amount of mechanized forces and has a large tank force, all thanks to your representing us in the government."

"I try, Captain. But enough chit-chat for now. Your company is next on the list for patrols around the desert. We've got to be very careful about insurgents in this day and age." "Roger that, I'll get my unit over there ASAP."

After this short visit, General Dunn got onto his jeep and went back to the capital, expecting to meet with President Andrews about his plans for future arms deals.

Jamestown

The city which had only existed for more than two years was actually very large despite the short time it has existed in. Richard got out of his jeep and headed inside to speak with President Andrews, which he had made an appointment with in advance. He knocked on the door and went inside. "Mr. President. Greetings. I was wondering if you'd like to speak to me about something, sir."

President Andrews, Executive Office, Jamestown

President Andrews had been smoking a cigarette before the General had stepped in the door. He put the cigarette out in the ashtray that adorned his desk, and looked towards the General. "Ah, you see this, General? I'll bet that the President back in the States can't smoke in his office. Let's get down to details, though. What can I do for you, on this particularly fine day?" Andrews asked, cheerfully. The sun shone brightly through the drapes that the First Lady had chosen to fit the room. Andrews rested his head on his fist, as he waited for a response coming from General Dunn.

Executive Office

The General was looking at the President smoking a cigarette then putting it into an ashtray. He had been so enamored in this that Dunn almost forgot that the President responded. "Uh, yes, sir, I came here because the size of our territory isn't exactly the biggest. This is an obvious question, yes, but in order to increase our size, we could try to intervene in the Hala'ib Triangle dispute and we could maybe get a slice of the territory in the process? Another question I have is the replacement of our old military equipment. Our Charioteer tanks and T-34-85s are cheap but they can't take on Egyptian M1 Abrams."

Mohammad stumbled out of the bar, barley able to walk. He made across the street to a the side of some store next to an ally. He braced his hand against the wall and puked all across the pavement. The store owner saw this from inside and yelled at the boy to F off. The boy looked up at the store owner. He gave nasty scowl and walked past the store. He did not make it 5 steps before he fell over. He laid there on his back, on the filthy street. Alone, drunk, disgusting, and angry. He said to himself " why... WHYWHYWHY?!"

In front of me stood my fate. I could hear clearly when my name was called by the announcer the roar of the crowd and their full elation swept upon me like a wave. Yet I stood strong behind the stage readying for what must be done. Today was the day, and it would truly be a good day. Everything was going according to plan and it would not be long before me and my own made are move and shook up the powers that be. Though we were few in numbers we were united and we would be heard when the time was to come which would be soon. In only a little while and all will come to be, it will be only a little while before we will have a chance at taking are place in the sun. I knew we most not grow too bold, that baby steps would need to be taken. But I cannot deny that I am excited as hell for the ball to get rolling. My machine is making it's rounds, at 24 hours a day my message is spread on paper, radio, and TV to all reaches of this great nation. Though times will be difficult and challenges will have to be met I am not dissuaded from my path. This righteous path of mine be like the golden brick road and will lead to glory and the succulent waters of the fountain of dreams. My allies are many and they are powerful force, with their help there is nothing that can't be done. Now it is time for me to take my stand and make my debut, to walk across that stage and deliver. I stood up from my seat ears still ringing from the continuous fanfare of the public and made my way. Out of the darkness I came and the lights came down upon me as if heaven itself had opened itself up and was shining it's light upon me. the crowd cheered and solemnly marched to the podium and raised my hand. The crowd grew silent. And now it has begun. My speech was a great success.

"Hm..." Andrews murmured, listening intently. "Now that's a problem, right there... I agree that we need to increase our size, but Hala'ib... We don't actually share a direct border with it, that's the real problem. At best, we're kitty-corner to the Triangle, so we'd inevitably need to claim some land from Egypt or Sudan. My problem with this, here, is that you're the one asking me this, asking me to allow you to intervene with the Hala'ib Triangle, when you're the general. That implies that you want to use military action to do that, and I don't want to get on Egypt's bad side, they have one of the largest, if not the largest military in Africa. I would feel better about claiming some Sudanese land, since Egypt administers the Hala'ib Triangle, and Sudan is still recovering from the civil war they had, a while back. Besides that, their military isn't that great." he told the General, stroking his chin. "About your second question, yes, we definitely need to replace our equipment. I would tell you to get in contact with General Dynamics Land Systems, try and get some Strykers or LAV-25s, or maybe even some M1 Abrams tanks with what's left of the military budget, but there's the problem. What's left of the military budget is only around, what, 400,000 dollars at the most? A single Stryker is 4.9 million dollars. Something older, that would actually destroy tanks would be, I don't know, and Italian Centauro?" he asked, a grim look on his face.
"I'm not going to look up how much one of those things cost, but I'll put it simply. We can't afford it. Look, Ricky, I'm an optimist, but even I can't see that going well, in any way. And that goes for trying to fight Egypt for the Hala'ib Triangle, too. I love this nation, and I love this nation's military, but we've got to work our way up to the big things. We've got some corporations who are giving us money on account of using our land, but we need more, and when the government's pockets are full, we can build a damned Death Star if we wanted to! But unless you find some cheap contractors, get some more money, or find a tank graveyard out in the desert, it's not going to work out. I'm giving the armed forces all I can allow, but it's just not gonna cut it until we make this work out. I'm sorry, but Rome wasn't built in a day. Anything else you needed to ask me about?" Andrews asked, with a low face.

It was dark. The only time that Vidar could walk outside. He did not have his mask on ( obviously) but he still wore a light sweatshirt that covered his head and face. The scars would have been an eye catcher. Inside his pockets were a Multi-dongale ( a tool used so that one computer could control multiple computers at the same time so long as they were on the same network) and a Series of Hard rives containing hacking spiders. ( Codes that probed any online profile they came across and when discovered would analyze viscously). As he was walking down the empty ally way, he noticed the Solomon Daniels posters all across the wall. " Cheeky bastard" he whispered. As he emerged from the ally way, he noticed a kid sitting with his knees up to his head crying on the street corner. Vidar could smell the alcohol on him. Never the less, he felt something for the kid. He kneeled down to the boy. "Hey" he whispered. The boy looked up with his tear soaked face. The scared face of Vidar smiled " Wanna do something about it?"

"Nothing more, sir. I suppose in order to increase our military's effectiveness as an interim action, we could purchase more Charioteers, they're extremely cheap, and upgrade their cannon armament to the 105mm L7 gun, perhaps? Sudan has nothing more than old T-55 tanks which the Charioteer was specifically designed to destroy that tank. Anyway, in order to protect members of government against assassinations, the military will be deploying its 1st Governmental Guard Company to protect you and others. I'll be going now, sir." General Dunn then left Andrews to himself and went back to his residence in Jabal Tawil.

Jamestown, Columbia

Dakota Douglas sits in his office, squeezing a stress ball. He hates budgets, but that's what he has to do. His Page, 16 year old Jousha Dixon, comes in his office with a stack of papers the Senator had him copy.

"Nice job, son," the Senate told the page.

"Thanks Mr. Senate," the young page responded, then continued, "I really like your budget ideas. Most people wouldn't spend that much money on the military."

"Well, I'm not like most people. And you have a good interest in this, I'm sure you will be a great politician some day..."

---

The Senator makes his way to the President's office, where he waits for the President to talk to him.

Capitol Building, Jamestown
Senator King sat in his office in the newly built Capitol Buikding, home to the Columbian Senate. His party had received the most votes in the inaugural elections but they had failed to gain a majority. If he was to truly lead as he expected he would need a majority, which meant he needed to form a coalition. On his desk sat profiles for each of the parties and their leaders, he began flipping through to make sure he picked the right match. His first option was the Pioneer Party, they were a conservative party closely related to the American republican party which was not what he wanted to associate his party with. The next option he had was the Liberty Party, they were the third party in the Sebate and a coalition with them would give him execatlu a majority; they were also the most closely related to his party. The only other viable option was the NCF who was an odd match but they along with they're leader is ambitious, but they had not gained any seats in the Senate. Xavier had his sights set on the Presidency but he had to start small and he ha a lot of legislation he wanted to get through first. "Olivia send a message to Dakota Douglas and let him know we're interested in a coalition," he said to his assistant.

Empire Enterprises, Jamestown
Alex King walked into the nearly complete headquarters of Empire Enterprises. His office was not yet completed so he occupied an office on the first floor. He sat with his CFO and his VP for Sales and Marketing. "James how much can we donate at the max so it doesn't seem like we're buying him off," Alex said to his CFO. After flipping through a file the oldest man in the room replied, "I'd say $1.2 Billion as an initial investment, and the other $1.3 billion later on." Alex knew that was a lot of money and it would have to come from the global hq in Indianspolis but it was worth it to advance his interest. He needed to keep as much competition out as possible and he wanted to make an investment in this new country. "Alright contact the hq and have the money ready to be wired when I get back, I'm going to go pay the president a visit," Alex said as he stood up and put on his suit jacket. He left the office with his assistant and his two security guards. He got in his sub and he was driven to the Executive mansion.

Executive Office, Janestown
Alex straightened his tie before we was led into the office. When he entered he shook the presidents hand, "Mr. President sorry to come on such short notice but we need to talk about some very important things. I believe this discussion can be mutually beneficial."

Senator and Party Leader Pierre-Antoine Jean-Baptiste Chauveau, Jamestown

Pierre-Antoine awoke from a restless sleep, being wracked by dreams and illusions of the grandeur that could be Columbia. In his dreams, he imagined himself Chancellor Pierre-Antoine the Just, being loved by all. If France could overthrow what they thought to be a government that was wrong for the people violently, who was to say Pierre-Antoine couldn't do it peacefully? The Chauveau family was well known throughout France as radical liberals and he sought to continue that tradition in the new nation. Still groggy, he smiled as he thought about his position in the government and how well his party was doing. If the Pioneers or Progressives wanted anything done, they would usually come to Pierre, trying to win the support of his party. Not only that but they stood at a perfect point in order to take power. The nation was still going through the throws of a fledgling nation, easy to influence. Sitting up, he rubbed his stubbled cheeks finally starting to wake up. Getting up, Pierre ran through his wardrobe. During official government meetings, he wore his silk suit. However, he generally wore a loose fitting outfit, a pair of shorts that didn't go past his knees, a Hawaiian t-shirt, a straw hat, a pair of vans, and sunglasses. He put on the latter, seeing as nothing needed his attentions that day. Leaving his moderate sized home, he hopped into his car. It was a Jaguar F-type convertible. Hopping into the seat behind the wheel, he turned on the engine and pulled out, driving down the road of Jamestown. Pierre only drove at about 30 miles an hour yet he still got to a small restaurant rather quickly. The place was little more than a bar that served food but he only ordered a coke, walking outside with it. It had a few tables that you could use to drink and eat outside and he sat at one and began sipping his drink, looking out on the desert.
Alas yonder woman, damn you tempt me with thy saucy bosom
thus methinks I shall bestow my codpiece in thee & make naughty love to my lady all night
Please haste hither & quench this torment fairest maiden

Unlike in most families, Mrs. Church couldn't go home after work and spend long hours with her children. If she wasn't busy arguing over multiple issues in the senate, she would be meeting with her constituents. Surprisingly, the most time she had spent at her daughter's school was when she was giving a speech to the teachers and parents who came on her party's stance on education. At least, her mother was free to take care of the kids.

Today, no different than most days, she was meeting with members of her constituency. The big issue of the day was the economy and employment, mainly, worker benefits. Some claimed that their employers were refusing to provide benefits, such as health insurance and a dental plan. Others voiced worry about the future of the national economy, and what government initiatives were being implemented to further support the economy. On the first topic brought up, Sophia replied that she would meet with other senators from her party and perhaps the Pioneer and Liberty parties to discuss the possible implementation of a national health policy. On he second issue, the same would be done and that she would try to secure a meeting with the president to discuss said issue further.

President Andrews, Executive Office, Jamestown

"Well, that's no problem at all, Mr. King." President Andrews told him, shaking his hand. He chuckled at how 'Mr. King' sounded right after 'Mr. President', as if Alex was a literal king. The buzzer on his desk went off, and Andrews clicked it, holding up his index finger, signalling for King to hold on on for a second. "Yes? What is it?" he asked.
"Sir, Senator Douglas is here to see you." his secretary responded.
"Just tell him to wait a second, Sarah." he told her, before taking his finger off of the button. Sipping from a cup of coffee, Andrews resumed. "Now, what can I do for you?" he asked King, turning his attention back to him. The President's desk was strewn with a mess of papers and files, as well as a few pens and other miscellaneous objects. "Sorry about the clutter. Running a nation takes its tolls." he told King, when he saw him looking at the desk.

Vidar looked down from the scaffolding upon operation NEST. 6 PCs were set about across the room, they all had cables connecting towards to some serious hardware set up in the corner of the room. The location was excellent for the purposes he had for it. The place was a veritable dead zone until about 100 feet away. He walked down from the scaffolding down to ground level. He looked over at Nemesis ( AKA Max Hardbour) " Do we have a signal?" he asked " Yes sir, full connection." Vidar smiled, yet from behind the mask his eyes were the only thing that could give it away. " Sir!" Grunted out a man from the entrance of the room. In came Eris with a struggling Bedouin boy ( Simon Jaquees) " We caught this one snooping around outside, said some guy with scars told him to come here." Mohammad looked across the dark room in fear. Vidar walked directly in front of the boy. " Decided to finally do something about your sorrows did ya?"

"Trust me my desk looks about the same," Alex said with a slight chuckle, "the topic here is not what you can do for me but what I can do for you. Mr. President Empire Enterprises is the largest corporation in Columbia at the moment and one of, if not, the biggest contributors. We believe it is in the best interest of us both if we maintain these things. I am willing to invest $2.4 billion in this nation now, and $3.1 billion in 6 months, but we will need something in return. Right now Columbia is a tax haven and I'm pretty sure that there will be an influx of companies moving here in the near future. All I ask of you is that you raise the tax rate on all of our competitors." Alex knew that what he was suggesting would make the President have to choose between what was morally right and what was right for the country, but he would have to get used to it.

The Hoosier militia goosestepped throughout through the streets in Indianapolis.
In a few months earlier, there had been a law passed that call any other military march as "treason."

Jamestown Slums
Daytime

The northern end of Jamestown was where many of the poor lived, and as such, was a hotbed for crime and potentially rebellious activities. Police forces were already very minuscule and overstretched, so they asked a platoon of the military to help them. Daily patrols of soldiers walking through the streets seemed relieving to the local population who had to put up with local loan sharks and street gangs terrorize the population.

It wasn't all good, however. Some soldiers instead became the criminals they were trying to protect the people against. They did this by enforcing 'protection payments' on the people they were supposed to serve. Tanks drove through the Jamestown Slums and people paid it no mind like it was a daily occurrence. The Lieutenant himself was an extremely corrupt commanding officer, accepting bribes from criminals to turn a blind eye toward illegal activities.

Military Department, Jamestown

When Dunn got back to the MD, he took the President's advice and immediately set in motion a major arms deal that the fledgling nation would be able to afford and would provide adequate protection against Sudanese T-55s. Colonel Austin, Dunn's advisor, was his liaison between the government and the military as well. He tried to ask questions from the General while they were walking in the narrow hallways of the building. "Sir, do you have permission from the government themselves to go through with this arms deal?" "Actually, I do, Colonel Austin. The President himself gave me a green light to pursue projects within the military budget, in this case the Charioteer tank destroyer. We need tanks, Colonel, and we need them urgently." "Very well, General. I'll inform the President of your activities."

Jamestown at night was no different from what it was at daytime. Senator Douglas would like to have an audience with Dunn... Douglas is a large supporter of the military, and wants to check it out first hand, to make sure he wants to support extra funding.

Andrews sighed, looking at King. He had already decided that he wouldn't severely raise taxes, and show corporate favoritism, at least not to a certain degree. "Your offer is tempting, I'll give you that. Still, before I can make any decision, I would need to know specifics. Raise the tax rate by how much, to what degree? What exactly is a competitor? Do I raise taxes just on other record labels, media companies... or if Wal-Mart decided to move in, would I tax them more than you? Besides that, how do I know that I'm not losing more money overall by not letting in corporations who would likely have generous offers? I'm not saying no, just yet, but I'm also not saying yes." Andrews told King. He wasn't trying to offend, or have an angry tone, but he may very well have done both of those things. All of his questions, however, were genuine, if not somewhat short-tempered. This was one of the first times that Andrews had dealt with King, or any business magnate, but he already got the sense that he wouldn't like him that much.

Abandoned Warhouse

Vidar took Mohammad up the scaffolding near one of the few painted over windows. Vidar opened the window up. The City burst out in front of them, and with it the slums. Vidar looked over at Mohammed and asked " what do you see?" Mohammad first looked at Vidar, then out at the city. " I see some sky scrapers, a lot of bright lights, top part of the senate building..." Mohammad wasn't sure what Vidar was getting at. " You have only proven my point." he says confidently. Mohammad looks on the skull faced man with a quizzical look. " I asked you what you see, and you only noticed what the few rich and powerful have created. You only noticed the small utopia they have created for themselves." Vidar looked back out the window. " Take a look at what is right in front of you." Mohammad did so, as his eyes fell upon the decrepit slums he had soon before emerged from. " I see... worn down building, cracked roads, not nearly as many lights-" he was cut short when he saw three men come out of an ally way. Two of the men were man handling the third. They through him to the ground, and began to savagely kick him. At first the man resisted, but he soon stopped moving all together. The two men ran away, leaving the mans body to lye in the streets. Mohammad was shocked and stunned. He felt a hand touch his shoulder. It was Vidar's. " Now that you look past the paradise that the powerful have set up for themselves, you see the reality of what the rest of us have to live in." Mohammad could hear the fire in his voice. " will you help me, to bring down this order of oppression and tyranny? To bring in a utopia for all men? For a golden age?" Mohammad looked into the eyes of the skeleton. They were the same as those of the scared man. Mohammad smiled, and nodded.

Alex was not surprised by the President questions and most of them were expected. He had to ensure that he was making the right decision, but the right decision was different for both of them. "Well I wouldn't ask that you raise it by a ridiculous amount, I only ask that it be raised by 5%. Our competitors are anyone who offer any of the same services as us. I can not guarantee that some other corporation won't come along and make a better offer, but I can guarantee that they will offer money not a partnership. I am willing to commit $2.5 billion dollars to the Defense, Infrasture, and Domestic Affairs departments respectively for the next five years; as well as substantial donations to the Pioneer Party. All I ask in return is that you make the tax raises I mentioned before." Alex had to make his offer even better because he knew the Presidebt had doubts, he also knew it would be hard getting the board to approve such a deal.

Solomon Daniels
The National Civic Faction
Rising Dawn News Building, Jamestown

I sat upon my desk reading through various letters and dispatches from all over the nation feeding me information that in the end contributed to the machine that was mine. In this rather unassuming room with it's spartan interior quiet dealings were discussed, deals were made, and a large network was consolidated. For now I would be small but we had all the potential to be a large and powerful force that all would look upon in awe. All I needed was time and determination to achieve my dreams. When it came down to the politics of the land I was honestly not interested in executive office and since my humble beginnings in the Pioneer party and beyond I have always had a preference for legislative roles. That and the news which has always been dear to my heart, though despite this when it came down to that side of me I have always been more of an organizer than anything else managing and maintaining the overall network and flow of information that inevitably would result. This was quite clearly the nucleus of my power, the Rome to my empire so to speak. Though primarily a news building it had the duel function of party HQ for the NCF from which the faction is ultimately commanded from. Consolidating power in a central location and from there commanding far flung resources. A discussion had recently been done involving possible actions for the future, one of the most important of which involved possibly lobbying with other more larger political groups to push are agenda forward. In order for are voices to be heard this would be what we had to do for now until we gained seats of are own and had a hand in public policy. One of the first orders of business related to the state of social welfare within the nation, specifically the issue of healthcare. We came to this land to right the wrongs of are forefathers and make a this place a better place than where we came from. An essential goal of mine is the establishment of universal system of healthcare so that all citizens would be safe from the ravages of injury and sickness in this new land, especially the children who were forced to suffer in silence not from any fault of their own but instead from their parents and their actions in the land that I had come from. I wished to make sure that this wrong was righted as quickly as possible and after some discussion me and the rest had decided the course of action we were going to take. In Summary we had decided to possibly ally for the time being with a larger political group who could help push this through, with are combined resources we could possibly make this all a reality. The Progressive Party were the ones we decided would be the best fit for this plan. As such that is what I decided to set about doing contacting their leader and arranging a one on one discussion would be how we got the ball rolling. I put my various official papers away and pick up the phone. I dial the number to the offices of The Progressive Party and wait a bit for an answer. When it comes it is the secretary who I am rather frank with telling her my name and ultimately my desire to speak with the Party leader Senator Xavier J. T. King. If he is around I would like to speak with him and maybe arrange a meeting, if not then I wouldn't mind leaving a message if that must be done. The Secretary puts me on hold and I wait.
