Welcome to Sword Art Online!

Sword Art Online is a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (VRMMORPG) developed by Kayaba Akihiko. The game takes place in a fictional world called Aincrad, and exists within a 100-floor floating castle shown above. There are no barriers or restricted areas. Once a player reaches the edge of the map, they are free to jump off if they want. However, this will result in death after 2 minutes of falling. I assume if you're signing up for this RP that you're familiar with the anime, so I won't explain things further. If you need more information then please refer to the wiki link below.

This RP will take place separately from the canon series so that we avoid clashing with Kirito's story. Other than that, I only plan to change things where necessary. For example, each floor has a theme and a boss. Not every single floor was shown in the anime so I have to be creative with whichever floors we visit that weren't shown. Anyway, you guys will be RPing as characters that got trapped in the game. We will stay in SAO and will not be moving into ALFheim like the anime. If we finish the floors, and I highly doubt we will, then the RP will be over. Also, in case you aren't aware, you don't respawn if you die. Your character will die in real life just like with the anime, so be careful.

Now it should be noted that not all of us are on the same level as far as our knowledge of SAO's game mechanics. Rather than require everyone to study, I'll make things a bit easier. Please read the following spoiler before creating an app.

Player Leveling and Experience: This RP will start shortly after the defeat of the third level Boss. Your character cannot be higher than level 60 when the RP begins*. However, I will implement exp and leveling into this RP. I will only have players gain experience for killing a monster or completing a dungeon. The amount of experience gained from a particular dungeon will be shown on the Floor List as a floor is reached. The amount of experience gained from a particular monster will be shown on the Monster List once that monster is first encountered. The Floor list and Monster list will be posted in the IC once the RP begins. Each character will need 100 experience points to move from one level to the next. So use your memory and math skills to keep track of where you are. I will post each character's current level on the character list, but I will not be keeping track of how much experience you have.

*If your character was in the previous RP you can add another 5 levels, Boss slayer can do 7.

Skills: Rather than go through the hassle of determining who has what skills, I've decided that everyone will just have all skills with the exception of a few special ones. When you post an app for your character, there will be a section that requires you to put in a "Special Skill". Special skills are those that, if you don't pick at the start, you will not gain later in the RP. This gives a tiny bit of diversity by making sure everyone doesn't have all the same skills. You will only be able to select one special skill for your character. The list of special skills is below.

1) First Aid: Fully heal another player or creature. This cannot be used on yourself, takes a short duration of time to complete, and has a brief cool down time of 1 minute.
2) Dual Blades: Allows the user to wield two swords at a time, allowing for consistent attacks that are more difficult to dodge or defend against.
3) Weapon Forging: Allows a player to construct swords, spears, blunts, and shields with the proper materials.
4) Energy Skill: Allows a player to energize any object they are holding and either swing it or throw it to cause damage to a target.

HP and Death: I'm making this a bit more about skill than strength. Of course if you're level 1 and get hit by a level 90 character, you'll probably die with one hit. However, if someone stabs you in the heart or cuts off your head, you'll basically die instantly no matter how big the level gab is. I basically want us to use common sense when determining damage and death. So don't use this freedom as an opportunity to godmodd. When you die, you stay dead. The nervegear fries your character's brain, thus killing them in real life.

There is a game I stumbled across some time ago that allows you to create characters who's appearance is similar to that of a SAO character. I require character images, so feel free to use this game for you character unless you find another picture someplace else that you prefer. To get the image here, you'd basically have to download the image of your character from site, upload it to an image sharing website, and then copy the URL here. It's worth it but if you'd rather find an already made image on the internet somewhere then feel free. If you have questions about the game then just ask me.

None the less her father's fairly okay with it as long as she's doing what she likes and isn't completely failing school. She managed get into being a beta tester for Sword Art Online, and pretty much went all out with it, tanking style. After the boss fight on the third level, she's returned back to hack-n-slash mob slaughtering completely solo, and occasionally join groups of other high level players for fighting in tougher dungeons.

For the longest time he refused to talk with anyone, spending most of his time in the wilderness grinding experience and skills. After witnessing the death of another player, Akira decided to return to town and open up a clinic for wounded players. Shaken by his experiences, Akira now goes about his healing with a new resolve. His healing abilities, while not perfect, get the job done. After all, he never got his doctorate.

Not long after his funeral, Emily found herself browsing his room, often hanging out in there for days on end. She isolated herself, shutting out even the sunlight. One day, while she was looking through his various video games, Emily had discovered his Nervegear. Wanting to be closer in a way, she put on the helmet, entering the world of SAO her brother would never get to see again. She leveled up, slicing and dicing, trying to be like her brother. She'd been terrified by Akihiko's announcement, alone and scared. She continued to level herself up, hoping to one day see the sunlight that she'd shut out for so long again.

Games that simulated real feelings and emotions, and food. If only she had known she'd be stuck in there forever, or what seemed like forever.

Brief Bio Nobuyuki was born in Japan but his father died while he was young. He was raised by his mother until she was killed in a tragic car accident. At that time, he began to live with his grandfather. His grandfather was an active practitioner of martial arts and at an early age he began to learn under his grandfather's watchful eyes. He practiced with swords and his body, learning that the most effective weapon was actually his own body. However, he was always into computers and videogames and played them whenever he was not homeschooled or taught to fight by his grandpa. He was also a beta-tester for SAO, learning as much as he could from the game. Upon hearing Akihiko's statement, he immediately went and absorbed up as much XP as could, making as much profit as he could off the beasts in the area.

After Akihiko announced that they were in a death game, Gamze lost Derek and could find him only after 1 month. She was about to die when someone mysterious helped her. He was also the one who give the mysterious black sword to her.

Brief Bio: Deren was a student with high marks. Although he was clever and emotional, he couldn't show his emotions to outside, causing him to be a loner. He always tried to be more social but failed everytime. He decided to try SAO and luckily he could get one of 10.000 copies. After knowing that he was trapped in the game, he immediately ran out of the area where the announcement happened. He would feel responsible if a person dies when s/he was around him for not saving them from the creatures. It's mainly because of the fact that his family died because of a mistake he did. He had lost the girl he liked in RL in the game after an ambush made by monsters. She is also the reason why he is alive to this point(she helped her when Derek lost his parents and she took the hit in the ambush intead of him). Since then he kept going solo, not joining any groups, even when it's only for The Boss Fight. He helped others in Third Floor Boss and joined to a Boss Fight for the first time in his life. He nearly died after the dangerous Sword Skill he used. The Boss Fight also allowed him to remember something he forgot long ago. Since clearing of Third Floor, he kept fighting against bad memories which started to appear since he was poisoned by a wolf on Third Floor. He also kept working on leveling up to be more helpful then he was in Third Floor.

Whenever he gets the chance, he plays video games, often for long, long enough that he falls asleep in class. So, he never got many good grades. As soon as SAO entered beta he hoped to be included. Fortunately, he was one of one thousand to be able to beta test the game. Once Beta was over he pre-ordered a copy of SAO. Akihiko's announcement shocked him. He thought that this was only one of many games (but this was unique as it was a VRMMO) in that when he died, he respawns in a cathedral or a town (Log Horizon anime). He set his goal to surviving and ever since, he's been progressing and leveling up. He doesn't solo often, he usually joins as many parties as he can.

Alice is a quiet, shy and ditzy high school student with a crappy school life. Born in Margate, England, she moved to Japan when she was 10 with her mother and sister, after her mother got a new job at a Tech company. Sadly she was not popular in her new school and did not make many friends and ended up being bullied fairly often. Alice had always liked games. She always felt better when she was playing them. One day her sister came home with two Nerve Gear and told that she was doing review on a new MMO Sword Art Online for an article she was working on and thought she would like to tag along where she could escape from the real world BS. Once it was announced she was locked in, she was not as upset as you would think well until she found out the lovely part where if you die in game you die in real life. Sadly it finally sunk in when her sister and half of her guild was killed. After that she mentally snapped and sank in to a pit depression and isolated herself in giant forest on Third Floor. A week after she started living there, a small baby dragon began to follow her. At first she was afraid of it, thinking it wanted to kill her. Instead she realized it was a very timid baby with no one to turn to, just like her. And she promised to take care of him, naming him Wilson after her old cat.
