Battle for Ravenloft (Fantasy RP) [OOC - OPEN]

Postby Esselman » Tue Dec 30, 2014 1:57 pm

Battle for Ravenloft

Image

King Raven of Loft, ruled the kingdom with such an iron fist he renamed the entire lands from the capital of his kingdom, to the far reaches of elven territory, Ravenloft. For a brief time there was a begrudged peace between magical and mystical and the humans. This changed when King Raven issued an order to remove all Non-human creatures out of the kingdom, essentially banning them from his "Perfect Kingdom." This initiated The Spell Wars, started by the Elves in the East who launched attacks taking back their homelands from Imperial rule, following after them the Empire began losing land and was backed into the West. Once the Wars had ended, the King had disappeared.
Now, once again, the world of Ravenloft is under immense turmoil, with King Raven having disappeared over several months ago, minor rulers from around the kingdom and rouge bands of adventurers (YOU!) are now vying for power. The son and daughter of King Raven, Prince Brier and Princess Brariel seek to unite the Kingdom under imperial rule, it is up to you to either join the Empire or partake in it's fragmentation and possible destruction.

Factions

The imperials work directly under the prince and princess, they are harsh and don't react well in most circumstances to magical creatures or any non humans. This faction is located in the west of Ravenloft, the Prince and Princess reside in the "City of Gates" Chaco, easily the hardest location to get to without immense help.

When ruled by King Raven himself, the Empire was one of tyranny that people seemed to be content with. Towards the beginning of his reign all magical creatures were welcome, this all changed after The Spell Wars. A king from the far east of Ravenloft waged war that King Ravens Empire simply was not prepared for. With the creation of The Black Hounds to root out magical and all non human kind in the the immediate area of his castle he believed it would root out spies and foreign influence against the conflicts. The various conflicts came to an end, but now Ravenloft was divided. Guards were told to check every business and home weekly to protect the kingdom, and humans were given a bad name in many communities.

Chaco is situated not far from 5 different keeps and strongholds that provide a citadel like amount of protection from foreign invaders.

Imperial Guard Uniform

These rogue warriors, called descenters by the Imperials. come from the dissolved order created under the King, after his disappearance they decided allegiance was best served under themselves. Joining the rogues is no easy feat as they often kill upon any sight of weakness and where they roam, death and destruction is sure to have followed. Their leader, Helmaer, was a general for a short time for the Ravenloft Empire and still tries to stray away from conflict with the Imperials, but knows it is ultimately unavoidable. Acceptance is based on a strength test, comprised of both physical and mental elements. Those who do get accepted into the Black Hounds find no solace in their new position, as their name implies they are constantly on the hunt for rival groups, the sacking of small towns to weak to be officially recognized by the Empire, and looting any transports they can find. They rarely ever venture into the mountains for fear of the beasts that live there as well as the limited knowledge of what lives there fully.
Helmaer, center, and the original descenters

The worshipers of the Gods. Located on an island not far from the mainland of Chaco, capital city to the Empire, the people are often deemed as crazy and lunatics by the average imperial citizen. Lemoors vehemently worship the Titan Cronus, not the usual gods, as a result they are morphed in nature and possess dangerous powers of fire and scorch the earth where they are said to travel. The island is rarely left, but heavily defended from outsiders. While they are ruthless enough to kill on the spot, they prefer the techniques of torture and conversion to add worshipers and eventually sacrifices to Cronus.

The Lemoors main and only city currently is Tifalls, South of the Sunless Jungle, between the Seas of Daggers and Marpia

The Undead Legion require little to say about them and they are fast taking the far East from the Black River, named after their hostile takeover to the final frontier Attun, best known as the City Beneath the Spire who have to fight the dead on a daily basis. Said to be the only unstoppable force in all of Ravenloft. The undead are soldiers of all species sent to the area who have died and then been resurrected by an unknown undead King, though none have seen him.

The Legion came to prominence a year or more after the Spell Wars had begun, enchanting the dead from the war back to life and creating an army that slowly has taken over cities and fortresses from Ravenloft Imperial control.

Species / Creatures

These primitive creatures as seen by the magical community often apart of the Ravenloft Empire. Possessing limited access to magic, they are better sword fighters than anything else. While isolated in ability, they are largest in number in the entire kingdom. Humans have the strongest of swords, but of heavy mass produced type style.

Image
Creatures fiercely loyal to the Titan Cronus who hasn't been seen in a millennia or more, they are dangerous and strong, but heavily disorganized. Have abilities related to fire, can create orbs of fire, and carry the specialized ritual dagger.

Taller than the average human, Elves have been pushed back in Ravenloft, with their main stronghold being the Island of Barao Feiola in the Southeast, though many elves still remain prominent, their numbers are dwindling. They possess broad magic abilities with specialized long swords for their warriors that are light and versatile.

More beast than man. Howlers are seen as the traditional werewolves. Based around the Blade River, their strength is based at night and resemble a wolf at all times of the day. Their claws act with the strength of a sword but few have ever actually been seen in full standing wolf form or even at all.

Basically an Orc. These monstrous warriors often wield axes and reside in many of the Northwest mountainous regions of Ravenloft, though they are brutes by nature, they are more organized by villages and as groups than most primitive warbringers. Though they are strong their slow movement both in battle and into war remove them from many battle situations on their homeland and often force them into foreign territory. Most Trolls will reside in the region above "The Lost City".

Now you come in you can be either a warrior leading a small group of other RPers, ruler of a small town on the map (if you can find one available), the full kingdoms located on the map can be played but are reserved for me as NPC's until further notice. Every location can be explored, I will allow you to RP what you find there for the most part. Your mission is to stop the Prince and Princess from their reign of terror but there are other forces, including yourself trying to take over. You will have to journey to other locations before jumping straight into attack the Prince or Princess, you will need powerful weapons, magic, and of course allies from other cities in order to defeat them. This of course doesn't mean that fellow players have to help you, you could be their competition after all.

MY APPs

Name: Prince Brier
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Occupation (If Any): Prince of Ravenloft, ruler of Ravenloft Empire
Allegiance (Faction): Ravenloft Empire
Equipment (1 - 4 Items): Long Sword used by King Raven,
Brief History / Background (4 Sentences Minimum): Prince Brier was the rightful heir to the throne, or at least thats what he had believed since he came of age. After the abrupt death of his father, King Raven, he was sent into immediate turmoil, and carried the hate elicited for non human species that his father had. He swore, even alongside his sister, to unite the Kingdom of Ravenloft under imperial rule and root out the magical beings for they did not belong in the perfect Kingdom. Though he knew little of the challenge it would actually take to do this, he was ready; rigorous training and new armor for the Imperial soldiers would help to combat the ever rising challenge of mythical beasts, all yet to be slain.

Name: Princess Brariel
Appearance (Picture Preferred): OP Photo
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Occupation (If Any): Princess of Ravenloft, Co-ruler of Ravenloft
Allegiance (Faction): Ravenloft Empire
Equipment (1 - 4 Items): Small Dagger with inscribed words "With Grace" | Fathers Chain showing coat of arms
Brief History / Background (4 Sentences Minimum): Keep quiet, chin up, listen first act second; all rules to live by as the future Queen of Ravenloft. Her mother Helena taught her to always be the upstanding one, the prime example of respect, and to always carry herself with grace. While her brother would toil about plans to crush any rebellions or attacks against the Empire, she would worry about seeing friends for the afternoon or the coronation of a daughter of her own one day. Was she aloof, careless, narrow minded even? Did it matter, because in the end she had learned the lesson all throughout her youth of loss, first her mother having been killed at the hands of trolls in the northern mountains, her fathers more recent disappearance, she imagined one day even Brier would pass as well. Time was meant to stand still at some moments she believed, and worrying about the day to day affairs of a kingdom were of no consequence to her.

Biography
Battle of Ananulbizar
Thorin at the Battle of Azanulbizar.
In the year TA 2746, Thorin II was born to Dwarven prince Thrain II in the mountain city of The Lonely Mountain. Early in his youth, he and the other Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain were forced to flee by the dragon Smaug in TA 2770. During the exile, he quickly grew to become a capable warrior. This was demonstrated when he participated in the Battle of Azanulbizar in TA 2799. He marched with one of the Dwarven armies beneath the East-gate of Moria. At some point in the fighting, his shield broke, and using an oaken tree branch found on the floor as a shield, he gained the epithet "Oakenshield," which would remain with him even in death.[2]

Thorin eventually became King-in-Exile of Durin's Folk after his father went missing, and presumably died in the dungeons of Dol Guldur.

Quest for the Lonely Mountain
Thorin 2
Thorin with his sword, Orcrist
In TA 2941, after receiving a map his father had drawn for him and following advice from Gandalf the Grey, he took a contingent of Twelve Dwarves to visit Bilbo Baggins in order to hire him as a burglar for their cause. Thorin's intent was to infiltrate the Lonely Mountain and steal back the treasure from Smaug.[3]

The Dwarves, Bilbo, and Gandalf experienced a number of dangers on their journey to the Lonely Mountain, surviving Trolls, Orcs, Wargs, and Spiders. He found the legendary sword, Orcrist, in a troll-hoard along with Glamdring.[4] In Rivendell, the Company rested and Elrond translated the moon runes in Thror's Map.[5] During their journey through Mirkwood, Thorin and his Company encountered spiders and were later imprisoned by the Elvenking Thranduil.[6] They escaped through barrels and they traveled down to Lake-town.[7]

Thorin and Company were greeted warmly by the people of Lake-Town and hailed the return of the King under the Mountain.[8] They soon reached the Lonely Mountain and the Dwarves sent Bilbo who converses with Smaug.[9] Realizing that the Lake-Men must have helped the intruders, an enraged Smaug flew towards Lake-town to take revenge on the Lake-Men. There he was killed by Bard the Bowman who pierced the bare spot on Smaug's left breast.[10]

Following the death of Smaug, the people of Laketown asked Thorin for a share of the treasure, as they wanted recompense for the destruction of their city, a part of Smaug's treasure originated from their former city, and it was a lord of Lake-Town, who shot the fatal arrow that killed Smaug. Thorin, overwhelmed by greed after recovering his family's riches, and enraged by the presence of Thranduil, refused to share any part of the treasure.[11] Instead, he sent a raven to seek aid from his relative, Dáin II Ironfoot, who had a legion of Dwarven soldiers on the move to secure the reclaimed mountain city.[12]Meanwhile, Thorin charged his companions with looking for the Arkenstone within the hoard of treasure. However Bilbo had

already found the Arkenstone, and subsequently, secretly brought it to Bard and Thranduil to use as a bargaining counter.[12] When Thorin learned of Bilbo's actions he became enraged and denounced his former companion as a traitor.[13]
Alan Lee - Burial of Thorin Oakenshield
The Burial of Thorin Oakenshield, by Alan Lee
The growing conflict over the treasure between Dwarves, Wood Elves, and Men, likely to result in bloodshed, was suddenly averted by the approach of Goblin and Warg armies, so they instead joined forces to defeat their common enemies in what was later called the Battle of the Five Armies. During the battle, Thorin led an assault that proved his strength as a leader, striking out from the mountain and providing vital aid as the goblins threatened to overwhelm their foes. He fought courageously, but was mortally wounded in the battle, requiring Beorn to take him to safety.[13]

Before he died, he made his peace with Bilbo by commending the Hobbit's bravery and good character, apologising for his harsh words as he now recognised his comrade's fundamentally benevolent motives. His last words are, "If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. But, sad or merry, I must leave it now. Farewell."[14][15]

Personality
Thorin was smart, proud, brave, intelligent, vengeful and a bit stubborn. He was infamous for a high sense of importance and rank, but valued very nearly every individual of any status. He was extremely noble and highly respectable with a flair of vanity about him. He was respected by many throughout middle earth.

He shared the greed of his family and had an extensive love for gold, though he valued the welfare of others as well. He was immensely brave and was willing to give himself up for any just cause, though this may be to a limit since the upcoming of the Battle of the Five Armies might have come as an exception.

Until the time of his death, he seemed to be cruel, stubborn and vain, and had a very high opinion of value. He was obsessed with possession of the Arkenstone, since it was the heirloom of his family and part of the Mountain itself.

Weapons
Thorin fought using typical Dwarven axes, a bow, and swords as well as an Elven blade called Orcrist, which he had discovered on the journey to the Lonely Mountain.[4] Under Thranduil's imprisonment, the blade had been confiscated by the Wood Elves. At Thorin's burial, Thranduil decided it was more appropriate to place it on Thorin's tomb, and did so, along with the Arkenstone.[14]

Abilities
Thorin was a highly skilled warrior and a capable swordsman. He was also a capable archer.

The History of Tolkien's dwarves:

The Dwarves, or Khazâd in their own tongue, were beings of short stature, often friendly with Hobbits although long suspicious of Elves. They were typically blacksmiths and stoneworkers by profession, unrivaled in some of their arts even by the Elves.

While there were several tribes (Houses) of the Dwarves, the most prominent was that of the Longbeards.

[edit] Origin

Unlike Elves and Men, the Dwarves are not counted among the Children of Ilúvatar. Their creator was Mahal, known as Aulë the Smith. Aulë created the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves deep beneath an unknown mountain somewhere in Middle-earth, from whom all other Dwarves are descended. However, Aulë did not have the divine power to grant independent life to any creation, and the dwarves were bound to his will. Ilúvatar came and reprimanded Aulë, who confessed his desire to create more living things, but in repentance lifted his hammer to destroy the dwarves. Even as the blow was about to land, the dwarves cowered and begged for mercy, as Ilúvatar had taken pity and given true life to the creations of his child, including them in His plan for Arda. However, Ilúvatar did not wish them to wake before the Elves, whom he intended to be the first-born. Ilúvatar granted the Dwarves life, and therefore they are known as the Adopted Children of Ilúvatar, but he bade Aulë lay them to sleep in their chamber deep beneath the mountain, and they were to awake after the Awakening of the Elves.[2]

Dwarves as portrayed in The Battle for Middle-earth II game.
The Seven Fathers awoke in their places in pairs with their wives, though Durin I had awoken alone. The seven different groups of Dwarf-folk originated in the locations where the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves first awoke.[3][4]

The seven clans of the Dwarves were:

Longbeards, Durin's Folk, originally from Gundabad.
Firebeards and Broadbeams, originally from Nogrod and Belegost.
Ironfists and Stiffbeards, originated in the Orocarni in the far East.
Blacklocks and Stonefoots, originated in the Orocarni.
Durin settled in the caves above Kheled-zâram which later became the greatest of Dwarf realms, Khazad-dûm. Therefore the halls of the Longbeards were not located near the halls of another Dwarf-kingdom.

There was also an eighth group of Dwarves that was not a separate member from these seven kindreds, but composed of exiles from each: the Petty-dwarves, who were hunted like animals to the point of extinction by the Elves in the First Age.

Dwarves generally lived far from the sea and avoided getting on boats, as they disliked the sound of the ocean and were afraid of it.[5]

[edit] First Age

The Dwarves for many years did not know any other folk, until Firebeards and Broadbeams had their first meeting with the Elves in Beleriand in the year 1250 of the Years of the Trees. From that time on there was friendship between the Sindar and the Dwarves, and they began exchanging knowledge and creating ring-mails and many other works; the Dwarves of Nogrod were unmatched in Middle-earth in smithing. They delved the caves of Menegroth, and adopted the writing of Daeron. It was the Dwarves who told the Sindar about Orcs attacking their Elven kin on the other side of the mountains, which prompted King Thingol to begin a build up of arms which the Dwarves made for him.

Later on a great army of Orcs attacked the Elves, but in the First Battle of Beleriand were defeated and fled. Those that got away ran south right into an army of Dwarves who issued from Mount Dolmed and destroyed them.

After the Return of the Noldor, Finrod Felagund desired to settle himself in the Caves of Narog and the Dwarves of the Ered Luin aided him and gave him the dwarven name Felak-gundu (Felagund). They eventually made for him the Nauglamír. This necklace without equal contained one of the Silmarils, and sparked jealousy and conflicts over its true ownernship rights. These initial conflicts receded by the beginning of the Second Age, but were rekindled to a new intensity by the discord sown by Sauron. They eventually created a rivalry and mistrust between Elves and Dwarves that endured to the end of the Third Age, when Gimli the Dwarf bridged the distance between the two races by developing a deep admiration for lady Galadriel and forming a strong friendship with Legolas the Elf.

Things finally came to a head between the forces of Morgoth and the Elves, Men, and Dwarves in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. The Dwarves fought for the Union of Maedhros

In early Second Age most of the Firebeards and Broadbeams houses migrated to Khazad-dûm from their cities in the Blue Mountains which were ruined during the sinking of Beleriand.

[edit] Second Age

The Dwarves had little participation in most of the important events involving the other races. However their friendship with the Elves perhaps became more close than ever; the Dwarves of Moria maintained close connections to the Gwaith-i-Mírdain of Eregion; the Doors of Durin of Moria were built to facilitate the communication between the two people, and was constructed jointly by both races.

When Eregion was sacked by Sauron's forces, the Dwarves assailed them from behind however it was too late to stop him from conquering all Eriador.[6]

Liz Danforth - Annatar and the seven rings
When "Annatar" distributed the Rings of Power, he gave seven to Dwarf Lords in order to subdue and control them. However, they did not have the same effect as they did over Men. Dwarves did not shift into the wraith-world and in fact resisted domination. The Rings only augmented their greed and ability to create riches.

At the end of the Age, some of the Dwarves of Moria joined the great host of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men and went to the great War.

[edit] Third Age

Angus McBride - The Dwarves are upon You!
In Third Age 1980, after centuries of greedy digging for mithril and other minerals, the Dwarves woke a Balrog that was sleeping in the deeps of the Misty Mountains since the First Age. The Dwarves fled Khazad-dum, which from then on was called Moria, which means "Black pit".

Most of Durin's folk left for the Grey Mountains in the North, while some followed the new king, Thráin I, who briefly went to Erebor in T.A. 1999. For more than 300 years the Dwarves of the Grey Mountains prospered until the Dragons in the far North started to gain strength. Some fled to the Iron Hills, while most followed the the new king Thrór to Erebor to start a new Kingdom under the Mountain. There, they prospered for over 200 years until the dragon Smaug descended in T.A. 2770. The King and his company went in exile South, while most of the survivors went to the Iron Hills.

Durin's folk settled in Dunland, and in T.A. 2790 King Thrór traveled North to Moria where he was killed by the Goblin king Azog. Thrór's son Thráin II (who had received the Last of the Seven Rings from his father before his departure) summoned all the Houses of Dwarves to war. Thus began the War of Dwarves and Orcs, in which the Dwarves destroyed all the Goblin strongholds in the Misty Mountains culminating to the great Battle of Azanulbizar where all the dwarven clans united. The Goblin hosts issuing from Moria were strong and relentless until the arrival of fresh Dwarves of the Iron Hills. The Battle ended with the victory of Dwarves, but at great cost. The Dwarven clans however were unwilling to repopulate Moria. Thráin therefore came to the Blue Mountains and established his realm there.

Angelo Montanini - Dori
The Wizard Gandalf was instrumental into helping Thráin's son Thorin in reclaiming the Kingdom of Erebor. Thorin gathered around him twelve dwarves, mostly from his own line, and was joined by Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins. The Quest of Erebor ended with the death of Smaug. After a quarrel with the Men and Elves over the unguarded hoard, the Dwarves - assisted by those from the Iron Hills - united with the Men and Elves to fight the attacking Goblins and Wargs, in what was called the Battle of Five Armies, where Thorin was killed.

Gimli son of Glóin joined the Fellowship of the Ring as a representative of the Dwarves and befriended Legolas during the War of the Ring.

[edit] Fourth Age

Not much is known about the Dwarves in the Fourth Age. After the War of the Ring, Gimli brought a part of Durin's Folk from Erebor to the Glittering Caves behind Helm's Deep and founded a colony there. Subsequently, Gimli went on many travels with his friend Legolas, and History lost track of their fate. Through their friendship and influence, the feud between the two races that had lasted for millennia finally ended, shortly before the departure of the last Elves from Middle-earth. It is rumored that Gimli and Legolas eventually boarded a ship that sailed down the river Anduin, out to sea and across to Valinor in the year Fo.A. 120. Gimli would thus have become the only Dwarf to ever be permitted to cross to the Undying Lands.

Durin VII (the Last), retook Moria and brought Khazad-dûm back to its original splendor, and the Longbeards lived there till the "world grew old and the days of Durin's race ended".

[edit] Nature

The Dwarves were created by Aulë to be strong, resistant to fire and the evils of Morgoth. They were hardier than any other race, secretive, stubborn, and steadfast in enmity or loyalty. They were generally less corruptible than Men. When Sauron attempted to enslave the Free Folk of Middle-earth using the Rings of Power, the Elves completely resisted his power (indeed, his hand had never sullied the Three Rings), while the Nine Rings utterly corrupted the Men who bore them into the Ringwraiths. In contrast, the Dwarves were sturdy and resistant enough that Sauron was not able to dominate them using the Seven Rings. At most, the Seven Rings sowed strife among the Dwarves and filled their wearers with an insatiable greed for gold, but they did not turn them into wraiths subservient to the Dark Lord, and he considered his plan to have failed. Sauron was furious at the Dwarves' resistance, spurring his drive to recapture the Seven Rings from them.

The lifespan of Dwarves was varied depending on their ancestry. The Longbeards were particularly long-lived, but by the Third Age their lifespan was diminished and they lived, on average, 250 years. Occasionally they would live up to 300 years of age, but such a phenomenon was rare, comparable to a Man living to 100. Dwarves were considered too young for heavy labor or war until they were around 30 years of age (hence the slaying of Azog by Dain Ironfoot at age 32 was a great feat). By the age of 40, Dwarves were hardened into the appearance that they would keep for most of their lives. Between the approximate ages of 40 and 240, most Dwarves were equally hale and able to work and fight with vigor. They took on the appearance of age only about ten years before their death, wrinkling and greying rapidly, but never going bald.

Sickness was almost unknown to the Dwarves, as they were immune to human diseases. Corpulence, however, could effect them. In prosperous circumstances, many grew fat by the age of 200 and became physically inept.[7]

Despite being 4.5 - 5 feet (1.35 - 1.52 m) tall, they were known for their strength and endurance in battle, as well as their fury, particularly when avenging their fallen kin, and for being some of the greatest warriors in all of Middle-earth. They fought valiantly in many wars and battles over the Ages holding axes. In appearance their more distinctive characteristic was their beard which they have from the beginning of their lives, male and females alike; and which they shave only in shame.[8]

As creations of Aulë, they were attracted to the substances of Arda and crafts. They mined and worked precious metals throughout the mountains of Middle-earth, but had a tendency toward gold lust, and committed their share of rash and greedy acts. Among these was the dispute over the Nauglamír, which led to the slaying of Elu Thingol and stirred up the initial suspicion between Elves and Dwarves to open hatred.[9]

Dwarves are fiercely devoted to their children. In their desire for their children to grow up hardy and enduring, they may treat them harshly, but they will protect them at all costs. Dwarves resent injuries to their children and to their parents more than injuries to themselves.[7]

The Dwarves' numbers, although they sometimes flourished, often faced periods of decline, especially in periods of war. The slow increase of their population was due to the rarity of Dwarf-women, who made up only about a third of the total population. Dwarves seldom wedded before the age of ninety or more, and rarely had so many as four children. They took only one husband or wife in their lifetime, and were jealous, as in all matters of their rights. The number of Dwarf-men that married was actually less than a third, for not all the Dwarf-women took husbands; some desired none, some wanted one they could not have and would have no other. Many Dwarf-men did not desire marriage because they were absorbed in their work.[10][7]

Dwarf-women seldom walked abroad, and that only in great need. When they did travel, they were so alike Dwarf-men in voice, appearance, and garb that it was hard for other races to tell them apart. They were likewise seldom named in genealogies, joining their husbands' families. The only Dwarf-woman named in Tolkien's legendarium is Dís, sister of Thorin Oakenshield, who was given a place in the records because of the gallant deaths of her sons, Fíli and Kíli. The scarcity of women, their rare mention, and their identical looks with the males, coupled with the Dwarves' secretive culture, led many to mistakenly believe that Dwarves were born out of stone, and upon death they returned to that stone.[10][7]

[edit] Religion

The Dwarves loved and revered the Vala Aulë. In an earlier version of the legendarium it is hinted that the Dwarves do not know about Ilúvatar, or that they disbelieve his existence, but later writings contradict that suggestion.[5][11][12]

Of old the Elves believed that the Dwarves would have no future in Arda Unmarred, but the Dwarves themselves held to a promise that Ilúvatar would hallow them and adopt them as his Children. They maintained that after death Aulë (Mahal) cared for them, gathering them to the Halls of Mandos with the other Children of Ilúvatar, though in halls set apart. It is said that after the Last Battle they will work alongside Aulë in the remaking of Arda.[12]

[edit] Language

The Dwarven language was created by Aulë, and was called Khuzdul. It was a strange language to Elves and Men, and few non-Dwarves learned it, because it was difficult, and the Dwarves kept it secret, preferring to communicate in the languages of their neighbors. Only one Khuzdul phrase was well known to outsiders: the ancient battle cry, going back to at least the First Age: "Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!", which means "Axes of the Dwarves! The Dwarves are upon you!". The Dwarves taught Khuzdul carefully to their children, as a learned language, not a cradle-tongue, and thus the language changed very little over the ages, unlike those of other races. The Dwarves also devised a secret language of gestures to communicate between themselves in silence, the iglishmêk.[13]

[edit] Names

The Dwarves called themselves the Khazâd, the name Aulë gave them; this is adapted as Hadhodrim in Sindarin, and Casari in Quenya. Casari was the common word for Dwarves among the Noldor, but the Sindar usually called them Naugrim or Nogothrim, the Stunted People.[14] In their dealings with people of other races, the Dwarves did not reveal their true names, rather adopting new names in other languages (the petty-dwarves were an exception). During the Third Age, the Longbeards used northern Mannish names in public.

[edit] Inspiration

Almost all the names of the Dwarves of Middle-earth are taken from the Old Norse Völuspá.

According to Tolkien, the "real 'historical'" plural of dwarf is dwarrows or dwerrows. He once referred to dwarves as "a piece of private bad grammar" (Letters, 17), but in Appendix F to The Lord of the Rings he explains that if we still spoke of dwarves regularly, English might have retained a special plural for the word dwarf as with man. The form dwarrow only appears in the word Dwarrowdelf, a name for Moria. Tolkien used Dwarves, instead, which corresponds with Elf and Elves, making its meaning more apparent. The use of a different term also serves to set Tolkien's Dwarves apart from the similarly-named creatures in mythology and fairy-tales.

The enduring popularity of Tolkien's books, especially The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, has led to the popular use of the term dwarves to describe this race in fantasy literature. Before Tolkien, the term dwarfs (with a different spelling) was used, as seen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In fact, the latter spelling was so common that the original editor of The Lord of the Rings "corrected" Tolkien's dwarves to dwarfs (The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, 138).

Sure you can create the app for them, we already have the Black Hounds as a faction so if more people join yours they will become and NPC you might run into. Make sure to reference the map for where you start, the dragons themselves will have to be somewhat limited as not to be OP though

Keep in mind the MAP everyone. All characters begin in their choice of the following cities:

1. Dorthellond - Basic city with a mix of humans and other species, contested land belonging to no eaxact faction, closer to the Undead Legion, separated by Nelle River

2. Helcot - Home and Base to Ellel's Arrows, a city fit for rogues and travellers. A Port city.

3. Tamba - Closest to Ravenloft Castle, more humans and Imperials, located in a jungle.

These cities are all suitable and in the beginning you will have to leave them on your own quests to other places on the map in search of weapons, magic and such to help you in the final battles against or in defense of the Empire. (And ultimately keeping it defended should you decide to take over or burn it to the ground.)

It had many fruit, and game for him to hunt, and feast upon, but to his suprise he saw dragons. He heard stories of them, and thought them to be myth, but they weren't. They were aggressive for the fruit he had eaten belonged to their young, and the game he had hunted belonged to them. In the night they hatched a plan, they would prepare him a feast, and decorate it to look like his kingdom had welcomed him back, then they would eat him. Little did they know Redhorn was smart, and still kept his wits. When he was hunting one day, he saw a dragon fly by, he followed it keeping low, and masking his smell. He then heard it tell the leader Kondoon that the feast was ready. He left, and rushed to the location, but not before stopping at a lake, and plucking a nightwhistle, it made anyone go to sleep. He harnessed the nectar, and put it in a glass of wine, far from the dragons. He then ate the feast, not touching the glass, then the dragon Kondoon came and asked,"Are you full human?" He replied," Yes mighty dragon." With a smile. The dragon laughed bearing its teeth, and attempted to set the king aflame, but then the king yelled," Mighty dragon before you eat me please join me in my last drink of wine, I will then surrender to your might." The dragon agreed. Redhorn took a sip from a glass, before giving the dragon the glass he had put the nectar of the nightwhistle in, the dragon lapped it up. He then bellowed,"Enough! Your fate ends here!" He went to set the king aflame, but a strange drowsiness came over him, and then darkness. While asleep the man tied him up, and for three days and nights the man and dragon stayed there, the man unsung stones, trees, and rope to keep the dragon in place. The dragon had given up, and was shocked that a human had tricked him, he offered the man a home, on the condition he freed him. The king sat there for another four days, thinking if he should free the beast, he would, but the dragon would swear loyalty to him, and no one else. The dragon agreed, and with that, Redhorn had freed the beast, using the rope to ride him, and returned to his kingdom. Setting aflame the cowards who sent him to the island, but when they offered him the crown he declined, finding true peace and happiness with the dragons, a towns worth of citizens followed him, intrigued that he tamed the dragon. After that and many years the Riding Scales were founded.

Though I make a lore thingy, explains it a bit.

Species Name: Senche
Appearance:
Image
Special Abilities: Speed, tree climbing, night vision and unarmed claw attacks.
Region / City of Origin: Porthy forest/Valsweyr
History in Ravenloft: It is often believed that the Senche inhabited Ravenloft long before the arrival of other beasts or men. Along with the Trolls, the Senche are possibly native to Ravenloft. In the Merethic Era, the Elves explorer Topal the Pilot described discovering a race of cat-like humanoids living in the forests of central Ravenloft, around Lake Rumare.
Soon human civilizations sprung up in the form of the empire of Ravenloft as well as the humans migrating from Atmora. The ancestors of the Senche were driven away, fleeing into the southern reaches of the empire.

For hundreds of years during the First Era the Senche were divided into sixteen different warring tribes. Then, after two thousand years in 2260, the Thrassian Plague wiped out nearly all of the Senche, leaving only two tribes: Pelletine in the southern forests and Anequina of the northern deserts.

Just as dissatisfactions broke out among various classes and tribes, peace was restored by the Mane Rid-T'har-ri'Datta, who implemented a rotational power system in which both sides shared control of the province, based on the lunar cycles.

Relations with other Species: Passive relationships with all species.
Level of Organization: High, with a hierarchical army setup.
Extra Description: Basically walking cats with longer tails, and ape like abilities.

Any questions feel free to ask!
