It was marked as Arabic expansion, but I'd rather not be greedy. There's also a rump Byzantine state in Anatolia that's gotten beaten up by the Bulgars, you can play as most of the steppe nomads, there's the Visigoths and Vandals as well.

Ah, I'll just take the Visigoths, since they're relatively near what was Burgundia.

Could you change it to reflect the changes regarding the future of Bharata?

Since I should do my history... Also, map. (dark blue is Beothuk at the start of the RP, light blue are conquests)

HISTORY OF THE BEOTHUK

~1 AD - The Beothuk people arrive on Newfoundland
AD 357 - leader of a band in western Newfoundland, Nonosabasut begins to unite his tribe to form a nation, conquers surrounding bands
AD 362 - Nonosabasut declares himself "utishmu" or King of the Beothuk tribe
AD 384 - establishes Osavat as capital, sends a trade expedition to find lands to trade caribou furs, and establishes contact with Britannia
AD 390 - Nonosabasut names himself "Rix," or Emperor of the Beothic Empire, and calls himself Julius I. Agriculture sees widespread use

AD 394 - Nonosabasut dies, son takes over as Rix Julis II. Osavat ordered to be designed to be modern
AD 401 - Julius II orders invasion of Labrador and some other areas to seek more caribou furs due to overhunting
AD 405 - Julius II secures control of parts of Labrador (on dark blue), names it Oskaya Beothik (New Beothia) and encourages immigration
AD 408 - Julius II divides his realm into "kistan" (lordships) with "kistun" (lords) appointed to control the realm, feudalism in place, though the King is kistun of Osavate
AD 418 - parts of Anticosti Island annexed into Oskaya Beothik, first road network begins to link the port towns of the kistan on Newfoundland, or Kaya Beotik inspired by the Roman roads
AD 419 - first census of Kaya Beotik shows 31,500 people, of which 3,000 live in Osavat

AD 422 - Julius II dies after a snowstorm, son becomes Rix Julius III
AD 423 - Julius III sees the completion of the road linking the main towns on Kaya Beotik, declares that some sacred forests will be "land of the Emperor," and forbidden from being converted to agricultural use

I'd rather this RP leave space for new players to come in if they wish. Vielen danke. :)

Alright then.

I am going to switch to the Kamchatka then. Civilization sorta influenced by China.

Kamchatka and the Kurils claims (Kamchatka is in dark blue, the Kurils are Kamchatka's puppet state)

I think the Kurils speaking Kuril Ainu, and the Kamchatkans (or as I will now call them, Teyamusar) speaking a language, which will be related to Ainu (down to the Katakana). Thus, rough history...

88 BCE - Taiyashi, chief for the Senkaka tribe becomes chief and sets up the first permanent settlement, Yukekise (lit. snow capital, meaning northern capital, in ATL Milkovo, Kamchatka), converts the Senkaka tribe to agriculture.
83 BCE - Taiyashi expands from Senkaka's hinterland and wages war against surrounding tribes, gradually starts expanding
78 BCE - Conquers much of his southern foes, names himself "rinipa" (high king) of "Teyamusar" (land of fire)
69 BCE - Taiyashi dies, successor divides Teyamusar into "tuya" ruled by "nippen." Expansion occurs over the centuries, slowly but surely
AD 2 - Rinipa Oyakaba adopts kamuru (Shinto, literally god road) as religion, many nippen start adopting it and kamuru gradually is filtered to the rest of the population
AD 103 - Marriage of son of the Rinipa to the last Princess of the Kurils, results in a personal union between the two nations
AD 474 - Sikasir takes throne as rinipa.

I'm honestly considering giving Greek some sort of status as an official language in the Bharatan government and church structures, maybe even have the government try to force local languages to adopt the alphabet in the interest of simplifying communication.

I think a mutually communicable language may benefit Bhartia. Bharatia is a massive country with a high number of rival/not close ethnic groups. But I'd avoid being too overtly pressuring on them to adopt the language, it may invoke the opposite effect (aka revolt due to feeling like you bein' oppressive). Greek may be a means to bridge it amongst the Christians.

I plan on a string of Gallic rebellions when the Teutons try to impose their language on them (Frankish!)

A common theme I note in several countries, namely Aztecs, Bhartia, Britannia, Teutonica, Visigothia, and probably Kamchatka is that there are a number of languages in play. It'll make things interesting later.

Oh, the peoples conquered by Bharata will do their share of rebelling anyways, because Christianity is being shoved down their throats too.

But because it's likely that the Scriptures were brought over to Bharata in Greek, and that there really isn't a church-state separation there, it makes sense that Greek would be the language of the educated- aristocracy and ecclesiarchy both- in the way that Latin was in Europe. Greek itself, though, the populations won't be pressured to learn the Greek language. Only the nobility would speak or read Greek. What I'm thinking about is making the Greek alphabet the alphabet of the various Indian languages. There are so many different alphabets and scripts used in the different languages of Bharata and Selattanah, and it would be much simpler if they at least all used one alphabet.

This interests me. I notice a lot of you are familiar with each other, so I wouldn't mean to intrude. Are the Gepids or parts of the Visigoths, or Suebi, free?

The Gepids are free, but they're kind of squeezed bad, between the Bolghars, Teutons, and Slavs.

The Suebi are free, but they have no designed location. They're a Teutonic tribe that went out on it's own to find something to conquer. You can place them pretty much anywhere if you'd like. ^^

I was thinking Baltic Suebi, but scratch that, is it OK if I go for the Franks?

That's what Teutonica is. It's the Franks that subjugated all the Germanic tribes kicking around Germany/Central Europe. The Baltics are open, so you could be Baltic Suebi if you want.

LANGUAGES

The following is a list of the languages used in Bulgaria, Bharata, and Selattanah, of a sort. Instead of simply listing the languages, a text sample will be provided. In the future, I might have multiple text samples for the languages; at present, it's just Article One of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As a result, this will serve as a list and an example area. This is also translations only for now; transliterations will come soon.

The below list is incomplete, because Mundi Renatus Bulgarian is an OoC constructed language, and 1) I don't particularly feel like translating A1 into my very incomplete conlang, and 2) my phone doesn't recognize the Aramaic characters that Mundi Renatus Bulgarian is written in. So this one will be focusing on the languages of Bharata and Selattanah. In addition, Malay and Indonesian won't be written in Latin characters ATL; that's temporary until I find something better.

BULGARIAN - The Bulgarian language(, Bolqaryin khedil) is an Altaic language written in the Aramaic alphabet, and the spoken language of the Bulgarian peoples and ruling class, the language of the Bulgar Manichaean Church, and the official language of the Bulgarian realm.

Languages (important ones)

Britannic
The Britannic language (Lingua Britannica) is a Germanic-Latin hybrid language, written with the Latin Alphabet, and it is the spoken language of the majority of Britannia, except for the Lands of Alba and Hibernia; It is the primary language used to communicate across the country, except in trade, where classical Latin dominates, however, Latin is slowly becoming less used after the fall of Rome.

Jedoch, Romalang ist lethargelich bekommen lesten usischen nach the Romafallen.

Examples:

"Good morning" (English)
"Gute morganen!" (Britannic)

"I am from the capital city." (English)
"Ik frohmmen the Kapitalenurben" (Britannic)

"I am British." (English)

Teutonic
The High Teutonic language (Hochteuton) is a Germanic language, and the dominant one amongst the Germanic states. It is the language promoted by the state to erase tribal seperation, and is derived from all major language sources of the Teutonic language, including those of tribes that have left, such as the Baltic Suebi. It is used in all parts of society.
Translation: It's OTL German.

The other language is OTL Arabic.

Teyamusari language
The Teyamusari language is an Ainu language spoken among the Senkaka tribe and was the main lingua franca in Teyamusar and the Kuril Islands until the fall of the Senkaka tribe as rulers, was the language spoken by the nobles. It is written in the Katakana script, and has left a tremendous influence on succeeding dynasties.

I think you have your Japanese alphabets confused, Luz... IIRC, hiragana has more rounded strokes whereas katakana has sharper ones. And the one you're using definitely looks more like katakana than hiragana.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you invited me in; I needed clothes and you clothed me; I was sick and you looked after me; I was in prison and you came to visit me... Truly, whatever you did for one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me."
