High Court Rules on Fine Bros. Lawsuits

Finally ending the weeks long lawsuits today, the Imperial High Court ruled that two Shiryuushima-born YouTube stars, The Fine Bros. cannot trademark the word "React" under current Japanese copyright law. This comes after the two brothers attempted to trademark the word in Japan, Canada, and the Confederate States of America. While this lawsuit has no effect on the other two countries, the two brothers have been denied their trademark in Japan, and have been slapped with a 50,000 yen fine for their actions.

YouTube has drawn criticism in the Japanese government and society in recent months over escalating drama that the Japanese public has expressed to be "hostile creative environments" -- recently, Fair Use has been under fire on the multimedia platform, with various Confederate and Canadian companies issuing mass takedowns of videos for no reason. In a rather dramatic set of events here in Japan, both the Sony and Nintendo Corporations were forced to intervene in the affairs of their Confederate subsidiaries after they issued a large number of takedowns on videos containing gameplay videos from many PlayStation and Super Power System games.

In response to the growing criticism of YouTube, Polyphonic Pictures has announced their intention to start an online video sharing service to compete with YouTube, DailyMotion and Vimeo. The platform is slated for launch in 2017.

To go on the IRC, go onto Mibbit. Then click Server, and then type in 176.31.188.253. Then type in your nick and #AWWA_RP...

And welcome.

Major figures in World War II history in my countries (WIP)

France

Philippe Petain
Born: 24 April 1856
Death: 23 July 1951

Philippe Petain is a high-ranking military officer and one of the people jockeying for power in the later years of the Foch administration of France. However, he is not liked by either Solange Glasiyer, leader of the Imperial Legion, or the Emperor. He served as Military Commander for West Africa Theatre for years; and returned to France in 1929 to convince the Grand Estates and the Parisian Soviet to name him the new Marshal of France; however, a gaffe stating his lack of faith in Syndicalism, and his uncharismatic nature, he was discarded in favor of Solange Glasiyer.

He died in disgrace in Toulouse on 23 July 1951, and received no honors.

Charles de Gaulle
Psuedonym: Andreas Jozef van Galliër / André Joseph van Galliër
Born: 22 November 1890
Death: 9 November 1970

Andreas van Gallier was born in Lille shortly before the Great War. After the Dutch conquered Lille, and annexed the area; his father, Henri de Gaulle, became outraged at the degeneracy of France, and turned his back on his ancestral motherland for his new one. Adopting the name "Henrik van Galliër", he changed his son's name as well. Andreas served with distinction in the Dutch Imperial Army as an officer for years; reaching to the office of General.

He became a major figure in the growing French-Dutch community, and a major figure of the Dutch Communist Party. In 1947, at the end of the Constitutional Convention for the united French and Dutch country, he was elected to the office of State Minister for the Communist Party; and served in this position for ten years.

After his retirement in 1957, he lived in Lille, enjoying his days in peace. He remained an Elder Statesman until his death from natural causes on 9 November 1970. He was buried with full military rights in Les Invalides, and a week long mourning was held.

Anton Mussert
Born: 11 May 1894; Werkendam, Netherlands
Death: October 18, 1940; Vrijheid Werkkamp, Kingdom of Pretoria

Anton Mussert was a high-profile National Socialist in the Netherlands, who was vehemently against conjugal relationships with Latins, and wanted to dismember the French Empire, and annex as much "Dutch" living space as possible. He was arrested numerous times for inciting violence, and was eventually sent to a penal work camp in the Kingdom of Pretoria. He was stabbed to death by another inmate on October 18, 1940, after Mussert attempted to steal the food of a Wallonian prisoner.

Pierre Laval
Born: 28 June 1883
Death: 25 December 1898

Pierre Laval didn't do much in this life. The 15 year old was killed during the Christmas Coup d'Etat when he was shot and killed by a Republican military officer for refusing to acquiese to the officer's demands. He was buried quietly in a plot next to his parents, who were also killed during the night of violence. History never got to meet the controversial Laval.

I'm throwing up a blanket claim on my ancestors. If Boji can self-insert, and Ruri can have his ancestors, I'm taking mine too yo. They're all irrelevant peasants, but still. I'm taking them. :p

Hey.

It's been a while since I've showed up here, and that's because... well, I'm not really sure if I can contribute much of anything to this RP anymore. I don't feel that there's anything more I can do or say for this RP. So I'll be leaving AWWA. I'm entrusting my nations to Bojikami.

It's been a pleasure to RP with y'all, and I wish you the best of success with the remainder of the RP.

It has been an honour, Ruri. It truly has.

In regards to the nations, I will only leave some (Former Russian lands like Poland, etc.) to myself, I plan on giving several out to Uni, Luz, or Shrill if he wants them.

Considering China has colonies in Madagascar, the Maldives, and in Kenya/Uganda, I don't think it'd be too far-fetched.

But yeah, it'd be Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Post-WW2, I envision Tanzania going to either Britain or Japan, and Rwanda-Burundi goes to Germany.

Maybe I could arrange the situation in Rwanda/Burundi where under Chinese rule, Hutus were the dominant group politically, but the Germans chose Tutsis because fuck China. *smiles in glee*

Alright. So ICly, when should German East Africa be transferred to China? At the end of WW1, or right now?

But yeah. China will see a lot of potential in German East Africa: it can provide China and Japan with an unbroken link of colonies from Ethiopia to Mozambique.

Either. Since Uni temporarily controls Germany you could work out how they are transferred.

I was hoping that Tanzania and the German Ostafrika would go to Shrill, who has been largely snubbed by the territorial trade... at least post-WW2. Germany probably doesn't see a point in selling back a World War I acquisition to China -- and Japan would likely go 'well... idk about this'

Well, probably at the end of the war.

In the meantime, here's the start of our own little Vienna Awards:

Uni: CSA, Germany, all Ruri's other American holdings

Luz: Norway, Denmark, and I think Yugoslavia too

Boji: Caucasia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia

Shrill: Nothing for now, but I'll accept Tanzania when the time comes

As for the remaining African holdings, they can go to whoever has their mother countries. Correct me if I made a mistake or if I've messed up the division.

Actually, would you be interested in piloting Brazil? Also; I'm currently planning the fate of the Confederate States post-WW2; it involves Canada getting a little bit of territory, along with Japan -- and an allegory for the Soviet Union in America.

Barring that, I was planning on just openly releasing Brazil to public interest -- if an outsider wished to jump into our canon and play Brazil, more power to them.

I'll have my currently designed post-WW2 map up shortly...

Also; Shrill:

So far, I have you taking over Quebec as a province of Canada, forcibly annexed during the war ("Damn those Frenchies, we want to secure Canadian freedom!")
Also, the Canadians occupy northern Kansas and Missouri during the Confederate Civil War and turn them into territories, while the rest of the CSA reforms into the Confederation of American Worker Republics (CAWR / Worker's Confederacy) .

Deseret revolts, Japan occupies a chunk of the western CSA for lebensraum reasons,
Britain makes gains in West Africa off of Germany.
Australia occupies Neu-Guinea...

etc.

Well, it may be a bit of a problem. But China might try and justify that by claiming that Germany would have a hard time administering German Ostafrika (unless Germany had developed infrastructure linking it and the Congo).

But yeah, it will go to Shrill post-WW2. Hopefully, Rwanda will become sovereign too, so there can be a chance for the UN to have UNAMIR.

Rwanda would fall into British control; so it's up to Shrill on if it's eaten by a theoretical East African government or not.
