By ages united to mighty rocks shall grow
Whose venerable sides the moss doth line.

Mizuku kabane

Kaerimi wa seji

English (1891):
If I go away to the sea,
I shall be a corpse washed up.
If I go away to the mountain,
I shall be a corpse in the grass
But if I die for the Emperor,
It will not be a regret.

Didn't need to make too many changes it turns out, but it's nice to have Humphrey as a PM now. I'll have my list of provinces up later. For the record, JFK became leader of the Liberals in 1958, but he was assassinated earlier in '63 before the Liberals won the general election.

Confused by the names I use for House districts? Here's a primer!
In 1963, Doctor Who taught us all we need to know about politics when a cave woman said, "Old men see no further than tomorrow's meat".

"Anthems" of Ruthenia and its successors

Ukraine has not yet died
Ukraine has not yet died,
The glory and the freedom!
Still upon us brave brothers,
Fate shall smile!
Our enemies will vanish
Like dew in the sun;
We too shall rule
In our country.

Soul and body we will lay down
For our freedom
And show that we brothers
Are of the Cossack nation,
Hey, hey dearest brothers
Onward take to battle
Hey, hey, time to rise,
Time to gain freedom!

Nalyvaiko, Zalizniak
And Taras Triasylo
Call us from beyond the grave
To the holy battle.
Recall the famous death of
Chivalrous Cossacks
Not to lose vainly
Our youth.

Soul and body ...

Oh Bohdan, Bohdan
Our great hetman
What for did you give Ukraine
To wretched muscovites?!
To return her honor,
We lay our heads
We shall call ourselves Ukraine's
Faithful sons!

Soul and body ...

Our Slavic brothers
Already took up arms
No one shall see
That we should stay behind.
Unite together all,
Brothers Slavs:
So that enemies perish,
And freedom comes!

Soul and body ...

Josef Ibakov Song, "The March of the Ruthenians"
Written by Josef Ibakov, veteran of the Crimean War of Independence in appreciation of the Nazi government

The flag on high! The ranks tightly closed!
The CH marches with quiet, steady step.
Comrades shot by the Tatar and Bolsheviks
March in spirit within our ranks.
Comrades shot by the Tatar and Bolsheviks
March in spirit within our ranks.

Clear the streets for the black battalions,
Clear the streets for the storm division!
Millions are looking upon the rune full of hope,
The day of freedom and of bread dawns!
Millions are looking upon the rune full of hope,
The day of freedom and of bread dawns!

For the last time, the call to arms is sounded!
For the fight, we all stand prepared!
Already Oleksandr's banners fly over all streets.
The time of bondage will last but a little while now!
Already Oleksandr's banners fly over all streets.
The time of bondage will last but a little while now.

The flag on high! The ranks tightly closed!
The CH marches with quiet, steady step.
Comrades shot by the Tatar and Bolsheviks
March in spirit within our ranks.
Comrades shot by the Tatar and Bolsheviks
March in spirit within our ranks.

State Anthem of the Soviet Union

Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics
Great Ruthenia has welded forever to stand!
Created in struggle by will of the Peoples,
United and Mighty our Soviet Land!

CHORUS
Sing to our Motherland, Free and Undying,
Bulwark of Peoples in Brotherhood Strong!
Flag of the Soviets, Flag of the people,
From Victory to Victory lead us on!

Through tempests the shadows of freedom have cheered us,
Along the new path where great Petrovsky did lead,
Be true to the people, thus Pavlenko has reared us,
Inspired us to labor and Valorus Deed.

CHORUS
Sing to our Motherland, Free and Undying,
Bulwark of Peoples in Happiness Strong!
Flag of the Soviets, Flag of the people,
From Victory to Victory lead us on!

Our army grew up in the heat of grim battle,
Barbarian invaders we'll swiftly strike down.
In combat the fate of the future we'll settle,
Our country we'll lead to eternal renown!

CHORUS
Sing to our Motherland, Free and Undying,
Bulwark of Peoples in Bravery Strong!
Flag of the Soviets, Flag of the people,
From Victory to Victory lead us on!
Be gay, do crime.

The Regions of Canada

The dominion of Canada is divided into 31 first-level districts, or provinces, and four second-level districts, or territories. The main difference is that provinces have their powers derived in the Canadian constitution while territories have their powers granted by the Federal Government. The District of Carteria is considered a territory but has slightly more power than the other three.

Es zittern die morschen Knochen
Written by Gochō (Corporal) Riku Matsuri of the Imperial Japanese Army
1912
Language: German (Riku, like many Japanese soldiers, felt that German was the language of the soldiers, while English was a language of naval officers.)

[refrain]

Sie wollen das Lied nicht begreifen,
Sie denken an Knechtschaft und Krieg
Derweil unsere Äcker reifen,
Du Fahne der Freiheit, flieg!
[refrain]

Wir werden weiter marschieren,
Wenn alles in Scherben fällt;
Die Freiheit stand auf in Japan,
Und morgen gehört ihr die Welt.

Anthems of Roma Italia and its successors

The Song of the Italians
Brothers of Italy,
Italy has woken,
Bound Scipio's helmet
Upon her head.
Where is Victory?
Let her bow down,
For God created her
Child of Rome.

CHORUS
Let us join in a cohort,
We are ready to die.[N 1]
We are ready to die,
Italy has called.
Let us join in a cohort,
We are ready to die.
We are ready to die,
Italy has called! Yes!

We were for centuries
downtrodden, derided,
because we are not one people,
because we are divided.
Let one flag, one hope
gather us all.
The hour has struck
for us to unite.

Let us unite, let us love one another,
For union and love
Reveal to the people
The ways of the Lord.
Let us swear to set free
The land of our birth:
United, for God,
Who can overcome us?

From the Alps to Sicily,
Legnano is everywhere;
Every man has the heart
and hand of Ferruccio
The children of Italy
Are all called Balilla;
Every trumpet blast
sounds the Vespers.

Enemy swords,
they're feeble reeds.
The German eagle
Has already lost its plumes.
The blood of Italy
and the French blood
It drank, along with the Cossacks,
But it burned its heart.

The Internationale
*Based off of Russian Version

Stand up, ones who are branded by the curse,
All the world's starving and enslaved!
Our outraged minds are boiling,
Ready to lead us into a deadly fight.
We will destroy this world of violence
Down to the foundations, and then
We will build our new world.
He who was nothing will become everything!

CHORUS:

|: This is our final
and decisive battle;
With the Internationale
humanity will rise up! :|

No one will grant us deliverance,
Not god, nor emperor, nor hero.
We will win our liberation,
With our very own hands.
To throw down oppression with a skilled hand,
To take back what is ours –
Fire up the furnace and hammer boldly,
while the iron is still hot!
|: This is our final
and decisive battle;
With the Internationale
humanity will rise up! :|

You've sucked enough of our blood, you vampires,
With prison, taxes and poverty!
You have all the power, all the blessings of the world,
And our rights are but an empty sound!
We'll make our own lives in a different way -
And here is our battle cry:
All the power to the people of labour!
And away with all the parasites!
|: This is our final
and decisive battle;
With the Internationale
humanity will rise up! :|

Contemptible you are in your wealth,
You kings of coal and steel!
You had your thrones, parasites,
At our backs erected.
All the factories, all the chambers -
All were made by our hands.
It's time! We demand the return
Of that which was stolen from us.
|: This is our final
and decisive battle;
With the Internationale
humanity will rise up! :|

Enough of the will of false Caesars
Stupefying us into the haze of war!
War to the tyrants! Peace to the people!
Go on strike, sons of the Legions!
And if the tyrants tell us
To fall heroically in battle for them -
Then, murderers, we will point
The muzzles of our cannons at you!
|: This is our final
and decisive battle;
With the Internationale
humanity will rise up! :|

Only we, the workers of the worldwide
Great army of labour,
Have the right to own the land,
But the parasites - never!
And if the great thunder rolls
Over the pack of dogs and executioners,
For us, the sun will forever
Shine on with its fiery beams.
|: This is our final
and decisive battle;
With the Internationale
humanity will rise up! :|

National anthems:
Republic of China (Nanjing) - Three Principles of the People
Melody
San Min Chu-i,
Our aim shall be:
To found a free land,
World peace, be our stand.
Lead on, comrades,
Vanguards ye are.
Hold fast your aim,
By sun and star.
Be earnest and brave,
Your country to save,
One heart, one soul,
One mind, one goal...

Melody
Dear land of Guyana, of rivers and plains
Made rich by the sunshine, and lush by the rains,
Set gem-like and fair, between mountains and seas,
Your children salute you, dear land of the free.

Green land of Guyana, our heroes of yore,
Both bondsmen and free, laid their bones on your shore.
This soil so they hallowed, and from them are we,
All sons of one Mother, Guyana the free.

Great land of Guyana, diverse though our strains,
We're born of their sacrifice, heirs of their pains,
And ours is the glory their eyes did not see,
One land of six peoples, united and free.

Dear land of Guyana, to you will we give,
Our homage, our service, each day that we live;
God guard you, great Mother, and make us to be
More worthy our heritage, land of the free.

Portugal, Afghanistan, just use their ATL anthems.

PATRIOTIC SONG
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps,
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps:
His day is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His day is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat:
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me.
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
While God is marching on.

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is Wisdom to the mighty, He is succor to the brave,
So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of time His slave,
Our God is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is marching on.

GERMANY

NATIONAL ANTHEM until 1891 IIRC
Heil dir im Siegerkranz,
Herrscher des Vaterlands!
Heil, Kaiser, dir!
Fühl in des Thrones Glanz
Die hohe Wonne ganz,
Liebling des Volks zu sein!
Heil Kaiser, dir!

Nicht Roß und Reisige
Sichern die steile Höh',
Wo Fürsten steh'n:
Liebe des Vaterlands,
Liebe des freien Manns
Gründen den Herrscher Thron
Wie Fels im Meer.

Heilige Flamme, glüh',
Glüh' und erlösche nie
Fürs Vaterland!
Wir alle stehen dann
Mutig für einen Mann,
Kämpfen und bluten gern
Für Thron und Reich!

Handel und Wissenschaft
Heben mit Mut und Kraft
Ihr Haupt empor!
Krieger- und Heldentat
Finden ihr Lorbeerblatt
Treu aufgehoben dort,
An deinem Thron!

Dauernder stets zu blüh'n
Weh' unsre Flagge kühn
Auf hoher See!
Ha, wie so stolz und hehr
Wirft über Land und Meer
Weithin der deutsche Aar
Flammenden Blick.

Sei, Deutsches Kaiser, hier
Lang' deines Volkes Zier,
Der Menschheit Stolz!
Fühl' in des Thrones Glanz,
Die hohe Wonne ganz,
Liebling des Volkes zu sein!
Heil, Kaiser, dir!

Wenn es stets zu Schutz und Trutze
Brüderlich zusammenhält.
Von der Maas bis an die Memel,
Von der Etsch bis an den Belt,
Deutschland, Deutschland über alles,
Über alles in der Welt!

Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Für das deutsche Vaterland!
Danach lasst uns alle streben
Brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Sind des Glückes Unterpfand;
Stoßet an und ruft einstimmig,
Hoch, das deutsche Vaterland

Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang
Sollen in der Welt behalten
Ihren alten schönen Klang,
Uns zu edler Tat begeistern
Unser ganzes Leben lang.
Deutsche Frauen, deutsche Treue,
Deutscher Wein und deutscher Sang!

Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Für das deutsche Vaterland!
Danach lasst uns alle streben
Brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
Sind des Glückes Unterpfand;
Blüh' im Glanze dieses Glückes,
Blühe, deutsches Vaterland!

Deutschland, Deutschland über alles
Und im Unglück nun erst recht.
Nur im Unglück kann die Liebe
Zeigen ob sie stark und echt.
Und so soll es weiterklingen
Von Geschlechte zu Geschlecht:
Deutschland, Deutschland über alles
Und im Unglück nun erst recht.

PATRIOTIC SONGS

und aller Augen blitzen hell;

betritt kein Feind hier deinen Strand!

So führe uns, du bist bewährt;

Deutschland, einig Vaterland.
Alte Not gilt es zu zwingen,
und wir zwingen sie vereint,
denn es muss uns doch gelingen,
dass die Sonne schön wie nie
über Deutschland scheint,
über Deutschland scheint.

Glück und Friede sei beschieden
Deutschland, unserm Vaterland.
Alle Welt sehnt sich nach Frieden,
reicht den Völkern eure Hand.
Wenn wir brüderlich uns einen,
schlagen wir des Volkes Feind.
Lasst das Licht des Friedens scheinen,
dass nie eine Mutter mehr
ihren Sohn beweint,
ihren Sohn beweint.

Lasst uns pflügen, lasst uns bauen,
lernt und schafft wie nie zuvor,
und der eignen Kraft vertrauend
steigt ein frei Geschlecht empor.
Deutsche Jugend, bestes Streben
unsres Volks in dir vereint,
wirst du Deutschlands neues Leben.
Und die Sonne schön wie nie
über Deutschland scheint,
über Deutschland scheint.

NATIONAL ANTHEM

PATRIOTIC SONG
La claire fontaine
M'en allant promener
J'ai trouv l'eau si belle
Que je m'y suis baign

Il y a longtemps que je t'aime
Jamais je ne t'oublierai

Sous les feuilles de chne
Je me suis fait scher
Sur la plus haute branche
Le rossignol chantait

Il y a longtemps que je t'aime
Jamais je ne t'oublierai

Chante, rossignol, chante
Toi qui as le coeur gai
Tu as le coeur rire
Moi je l'ai pleurer

Il y a longtemps que je t'aime
Jamais je ne t'oublierai

C'est pour mon ami Pierre
Qui ne veut plus m'aimer
Pour un bouton de rose
Que je lui refusai

Il y a longtemps que je t'aime
Jamais je ne t'oublierai

J'ai perdu mon ami
Sans l'avoir mrit
Pour un bouquet de roses
Que je lui refusai

Il y a longtemps que je t'aime
Jamais je ne t'oublierai

NATIONAL ANTHEM
Isten, áldd meg a magyart
Jó kedvvel, bőséggel,
Nyújts feléje védő kart,
Ha küzd ellenséggel;
Bal sors akit régen tép,
Hozz rá víg esztendőt,
Megbűnhődte már e nép
A múltat s jövendőt!

Őseinket felhozád
Kárpát szent bércére,
Általad nyert szép hazát
Bendegúznak vére.
S merre zúgnak habjai
Tiszának, Dunának,
Árpád hős magzatjai
Felvirágozának.

Értünk Kunság mezein
Ért kalászt lengettél,
Tokaj szőlővesszein
Nektárt csepegtettél.
Zászlónk gyakran plántálád
Vad török sáncára,
S nyögte Mátyás bús hadát
Bécsnek büszke vára.

Hajh, de bűneink miatt
Gyúlt harag kebledben,
S elsújtád villámidat
Dörgő fellegedben,
Most rabló mongol nyilát
Zúgattad felettünk,
Majd töröktől rabigát
Vállainkra vettünk.

Hányszor zengett ajkain
Ozmán vad népének
Vert hadunk csonthalmain
Győzedelmi ének!
Hányszor támadt tenfiad
Szép hazám, kebledre,
S lettél magzatod miatt
Magzatod hamvedre!

Bújt az üldözött, s felé
Kard nyúlt barlangjában,
Szerte nézett s nem lelé
Honját a hazában,
Bércre hág és völgybe száll,
Bú s kétség mellette,
Vérözön lábainál,
S lángtenger fölette.

Vár állott, most kőhalom,
Kedv s öröm röpkedtek,
Halálhörgés, siralom
Zajlik már helyettek.
S ah, szabadság nem virúl
A holtnak véréből,
Kínzó rabság könnye hull
Árvák hő szeméből!

Szánd meg Isten a magyart
Kit vészek hányának,
Nyújts feléje védő kart
Tengerén kínjának.
Bal sors akit régen tép,
Hozz rá víg esztendőt,
Megbűnhődte már e nép
A múltat s jövendőt!

So ATL Star Trek is a show created by a Confederate(Gene Roddenberry - El Paso, Texas), with actors from Quebec(William Shatner- James Kirk- Notre-Dame-de-Grace, Quebec), Canada(Leonard Nimoy- Spock- Boston, Massachusetts; Walter Koenig- Pavel Chekov- Chicago, Illinois; Majel Barret-Roddenberry- Christine Chapel- Cleveland, Ohio; James Doohan- Montgomery Scott- Vancouver, British Colombia; Nichelle Nichols- Nyota Uhura- Robbins, Illinois), and the Confederacy(DeForest Kelley- Leonard McCoy- Toccoa, Georgia; George Takei- Hikaru Sulu- Los Angeles, California).

So the first interracial kiss on Confederate television was between a Quebecois and a Canadian.

EDIT: The Next Generation has Brits(Patrick Stewart- Jean-Luc Picard- Mirfield, England; Marina Sirtis- Deanna Troi- London, England), Canadians(Johnathan Frakes- William Riker- Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; Gates McFadden- Beverly Crusher- Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), Confederates(LeVar Burton- Geordi LaForge- Landstuhl, Rheinland-Pfalz but raised in Sacramento, California; Denise Crosby- Tasha Yar- Hollywood, California; Michael Dorn- Worf- Luling, Texas; Brent Spiner- Data- Houston, Texas; Wil Wheaton- Wesley Crusher- Burbank, California).

I might be making some serious canon changes as to when slavery was ended in the CSA, and whether or not there was an American civil war.

You should put an American Civil War in the near future, perhaps. Having one would seriously change the canon of the RP, and I dunno if we could have that without massive changes in some cases.

It needs to be before the end of slavery, which I'm probably going to move either to some point between 1850 and 1880, because it's based in sectionalism between the cash-crop slaveholding East and the mining-and-industry/free soil West. It'd probably be over abolition and potentially minority rights for Hispanics and Native Americans, ending in a somewhat embarrassing Western victory hinging on guerrilla warfare.

This is also going to go hand-in-hand with a clarification of what happened in the ATL Mex-Am war(which, btw Shrill, might slightly change your canon and the canon of the Confederate War of Independence) and the fleshing-out of the relationships between the CSA, Aztlan, and Mexico.

You could go the Kaiserreich standard and have it be a fight between the weak federal government, right-wing populists intent on "restoring glory" and leftists wanting a communist revolution. But okay, I mean, that's a pretty big canon change and you'd have to get everyone's approval on it...

Thinking on this; wouldn't a Western victory lead to the dissolution of the CSA as-was, just 11 years before the Great War, and the establishment of a "new America" in a sense?

Texas. I'm considering getting rid of the thing where Britain tries to buy Texas.

No. Their goal is to force the Confederate government to abolish slavery, not to declare their own separate state. They might establish their own local governments, but once the war and slavery abolished is over they'd redeclare allegiance to the government in Washington. There's a lot of basis on Bleeding Kansas, where there were pro-slavery and anti-slavery Governments of the Territory of Kansas, but they both claimed to be the Territory of Kansas.

I'm still working on the timeline, hopefully I'll have it up soon.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you invited me in; I needed clothes and you clothed me; I was sick and you looked after me; I was in prison and you came to visit me... Truly, whatever you did for one of the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me."
- the Gospel of Matthew, 25:35-40
