Magic, Might, and Machines. (IC, OPEN)

OOC: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=315695

In the far off year of 2153, humans have developed a method for making regular humans compared to that of Superman. By 2200, This method became quite cheap to use and eventually these "Supers" were more commonplace than regular people, by 2250, humans had set up massive cities all over the galaxy. Effectively becoming the dominant species. The supers had revolutionized quite literally every aspect of normal human life. Manual labor was one of the most profitable occupations, due to the speed at which supers worked. Entertainment was centered around "Super-fights." Fights where many Supers came to battle and slug it out with other supers to compete for prizes. Due to nearly everyone being a super, crime was virtually gone. Humanity had entered it's Golden age. One day, while mapping an unexplored section of the galaxies they came across a new primitive race. What set them apart from the rest of the other races, was the fact that the Lizard-Like Almians, as they called themselves, used extremely powerful magic. Magic powerful enough to go toe to toe with supers and even win. This was a shock to the humans and even more so to the supers. The suspect source of their magical prowess was likely the insane amounts of the resourcePlot-devicium Radion inside of the planet's crust. The ores was highly valuable, but simply taking it would prove extremely difficult. The Almians were extremely peaceful, simply shoving them aside and taking it wasn't an option for that reason and several more. The magic they used was powerful enough to go toe to toe against even the mightiest of their supermen. Meaning a war would be very costly. And the final nail in the coffin was that many humans had began to grow very healthy relationships with the Almians, and a small group of the public had even decided to toss aside superhuman traits for magic. The number was small but was growing as a "natural" alternative to the superhumans. Who's side are you on? The mighty Humans? Or the magical Lizard Wizards? Or are you someone else just watching from the sidelines?

Kilian

He had finally made his way to Almia. It was so much quieter than Earth was, that much was certain. Enhanced senses were sometimes as much a curse as it was a blessing. "Time to stretch my legs." He says say and takes a 10 foot leap, before taking another leap the launched about 30 feet before taking flight. He had been cramped inside the transport ship for almost a day. Feeling the wind through his body was a sensation he missed. But he was here to make his way. One could call it "finding himself." Which Kilian would respond by calling said person rude names. Even if he denied it. It was what he was doing. But a change of scenery never hurt. He was admittedly nervous despite hearing the Almians were actually quite kind and peaceful. "Might as well go introduce myself before it gets dark. I'm not sleeping sleeping in a cave."

Shava

Shava just finished renewing some enchantments on the stone house of one of her friends. The rumor that more and more off-worlders were coming to their planet to learn magic was coming quite true. It wasn't a big deal to her. Despite not having the technology that many off-worlders had, many viewed their home as a place of learning and was extremely respected by the galactic community. Not that they knew that. Shava was no more aware of it than any other Almian. She couldn't help the nagging feeling that the off-worlders wanted something more than just how to use magic. For the most part she ignored it. Most of them seemed quite genuine.

Snore………

Snore………

BRZZRPT! BRZZRPT!

"OH MY GOSH LOUD NOISES!", Simon screamed, falling out of bed and onto the floor. Well, "bed", was a relative term. More like cot.

Living in the jungles of Almia did that to you.

After dousing himself in the stream nearby, Simon put his clothes on -not the suit, the Linkin Park t-shirt and jeans-, and began to walk to Shava's house. He'd grown quite fond of the Almians, and had developed a friendship with several of them.

It wasn't exactly a long walk, but he was panting by the time he'd gotten up there, not being the fittest. "Hello"-pant, wheeze-"Shava, how"-pant,wheeze, cough-" are you today?"

Postby Sithian Korriban » Tue Oct 14, 2014 8:17 pm

Dexter awoke inside his cave on Almia. He walked out and jumped up into the air and flew. The Almians welcomed him on their planet even though he was allied with the humans. He launched himself up into the air and looked over the forest he had made his home in. As he looked around he picked up the smell of a local Almian that he had befriended's cooking. He started flying towards her home.

The human sacrificed himself, to save the Pokemon. I pitted them against each other, but not until they set aside their differences did I see the true power they all share deep inside. I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

Shava looked at the Panting man and snickered a little. "Catch your breath Simon." She says. "I never understood why you humans always rush so often. I am not going anywhere. When you finally do regulate your breathing. Would you like something to eat?" She asks. Simon was quite the strange human. Often a source of humor for her at least a little. "Perhaps some water if you're thirsty."

Keralia was confused as she saw the man run off into the horizon.

"Are all humans like that?" thought Keralia. She recently heard of this primitive planet, Almia, and knew she could earn some money here. Far too many corporations would be setting up mining operations, and they would need protection. So, she caught a transport to Almia, and was looking for a place to stay, or at least a place to set up a temporary camp. She decided now would be a great time to look, as the sun was up, and she had plenty of time to look. Keralia unfurled her wings, gave them a few quick beats, and lifted off.

"I live for this..." thought Keralia as she quickly gained altitude with her cybernetically-enhanced wings. She could see everything up here! Everywhere Keralia looked, she saw the beauty of nature. Undisturbed by industry, animals lived together in harmony, and forests never stopped growing. She suddenly remembered something; she had a job to do

"Right. Find a place to stay the night," thought Keralia. Needing a closer look, Keralia closed her wingspan a bit and fell downwards. After falling quite a bit of distance, Keralia, almost instantly, extended her wings fully, catching herself, before leveling out into a glide. She scanned the forest looking for some form of civilization, or at least another sentient creature. Soon, she saw what looked like a small village, made of huts that looked like they would fall over any second. Deciding this would be a good place to spend the night, Keralia slowly descended on the village, before finally landing. She looked around, and saw it was an Almian village. She saw a few humans, and a couple of aliens as well, but no other Draconics.

"Oh well," thought Keralia. She walked up to the nearest one, who was chatting with a human, and introduced herself

"Hello, I am Keralia, a Draconic. I got here recently and was wondering if there was a place I could spend the night?"

Kilian spotted the village and landed not to far and as gently as he could. Starting off first impressions with a seismic event might not be the best idea. He considered himself to be rather polite. All he could hope for was that the Almians thought the same. Some looks were shared but most of them didn't seem to mind his presence. He found who appeared to be the village chieftain or equivalent. Wasn't hard to find him. It was like earth. The ones dressed really nice were the ones in charge. Now he was wondering if their politicians were as annoying as human ones.

"Hello Kerlia. Welcome to our village. You can speak to the Elder if you need a place to sleep." She says. "My name is Shava. His is Eytukan. This is Simon. I'm not familiar with the other human." She says.

Nathanael Rose sat in his dark room, alone and concentrating. He had lived on Almia for a few months now as he was trying to master the magic art of conjuring. He had arranged for a decently sized woodland home to be crafted for him so that he would get to practice his new art away from prying eyes. He wasn't too fond of people and how selfish and mean they usually were. He respected the Almians for being different than humans, but at the same time he was nervous to really get too acquainted with any of them either. So every day Nathanael stayed in his Almian home, keeping himself entertained while also making sure to practice his conjuring every single day. To sneak practice in he commonly conjured up creatures to help him get things done, even little things such as basic chores.

Nathanael had found that the calmer he was when he tried to conjure something new and more powerful, the more easily he could pull it off. So he transitioned to his back yard and started fingerpicking a song on an acoustic guitar, closing he eyes as he focused. This was a form of meditation for him that he had grown quite comfortable with, one that would calm him down to the point where he could fall asleep. Once he was calm enough he began to conjure, keeping his rhythm with the strings peddling along. A new creation he had thought up, a rather interesting one, began to form in front of him in his back yard. Deceiving to the eye, it was nothing more than a young girl with pale white skin and long black hair. Innocent as can be with a frilly white dress on as she stood no taller than a young child of 11 or so would. However it had the ability to scream so loud it would disorient anyone, even a super. The idea of this conjuration was not to harm anyone, rather to simply stun people. He had conjured it with the hopes of making it a personal guard to his home in case anyone tried to rob him since he was so far away from a nearby town or form of civilization. It would scream and stun any intruders, letting Nathanael know to investigate, while leaving the intruders unharmed. He was quite proud of his new creation, and he put the guitar down as he looked it over. "You may go." He said once he was done, setting it off to being patrolling.

"Thank you Shava," said Keralia, wincing slightly as the Almian mispronounced her name. She turned, and saw the exact same human who she saw run off at superhuman speeds earlier.

"That's odd," thought Keralia. She decided to go introduce herself to him

"Hello human, my name is Keralia, a Draconic. May I ask who you are?" asked Keralia to the man.

"Oh hey. You're the dragon lady from the transport right? Nice to meet you Keralia. I'm Kilian. Human if its not obvious. I take it you're here for the same reason I am? Not spending the night sucking on wet rocks for nourishment?" He joked. "Small world."

Jelani enjoyed taking his time. There was no emergency and no need to rush. He entered the tube from the space craft that had brought him to the Almian homeworld and into it's terminal.
As a genetically engineered and modified creature, he doubted that he was compatable with the 'magic' of the Almians. That said, he hoped that their mysticism might help him become more in touch with his 'spiritual' side.
He travelled to the baggage claim area and retrieved suitcase.
Eventually, he made his way off of the spaceport grounds and into the "town". It was a refreshing change from the cities of Earth.
He found lodgings that he could afford and after unpacking he pulled out his comp-tab, viewed the address, determined the best route and began walking....
Soon he was at the door of the teacher, "Shava". He knocked, softly, not wanting to accidentally break anything with his super strength.

"My, it seems I am popular among the new arrivals today." She says and opens the door to probably one of the stranger creatures she had encountered. Large and hairy. "Hello... I am Shava." She says. "I believe you are here for the same reason as everyone else? You wish for me teach you my enchanting?" She asks.

"You smell of the same treatment that was received by many of the humans from your home. Those who are referred to as you call them. Supers. Cannot be taught our magic." She reluctantly explains. "I am sorry. I might not be able to teach you magic. However. Spiritual growth varies from person to person. You can speak to our Tsa'hik. She may be able to help you better than I."

Dexter landed outside the small house and saw a plate of food on the window sill. He knew that there was no one home, because it had become daily routine. He went and looked at the food. He had no idea what it was, but it was one of his favourites. He spent some time eating and then cleaned his plate and utensils before leaving a note of thanks, which he placed where the food had been. He moved away from the house and spread his wings before taking off again. He decided to fly to the village.

Elrodur Rivard

Elrodur Rivard of the Aquaris flew his ship in the wide expanse of the galaxy. There were so many places to go, so many things to do! He had just come from visting the homeworld of the humans, called Earth. It was so unlike Agraeron, Earth having its deserts and forests. But the humans, as the called themselves, were arrogant with their "super" powers, and the wide success they had enjoyed. Appearing to be friendly, they tried to win your respect before "stabbing you in the back" as the human expression went again. Elrodur shook his head. Visiting Earth, he and his tour guide had relaxed into gentle conversation as Elrodur talked about his homeland. The tour guide appeared to like him, but the minute they were alone, a dagger had come out of nowhere, resting on his throat. The tour guide meant to sell him to something called a "zoo"! Outraged, Elrodur had frozen the dagger and then the human.

He had then went to explore the Earth for himself, seeing their history, full of numerous, unnecessary, terrible wars. If these humans were so bloodthirsty and callous on their own planet, he feared for the galaxy. Though he had met a few kind, gentle humans who made a profound impression on him, he sadly found many more of the opposite, drunkards, rapists, foul-mouthed, dirty, mean and belligerent humans. Their seas and rivers were tainted, overcome with abuse and litter. For that reason, he was headed to Almia, home of the "primitive" Lizard-Wizards. Elrodur did not wish to learn from them, as he already had his own magic, which was quite powerful. No, he was headed to Almia to protect them from the humans now traveling there. He had heard many conversations on Earth concerning the planet, and most of them were enough to make him worried. He feared some outer motive in the humans traveling to Almia, trying to learn the ways of these gentle people before stabbing them in the back. Humans craved power above all else, and right now, with power in the hands of the Almians, they would do anything to get that power.

Elrodur entered the atmosphere and landed in a small clearing. He would sleep in his sleek spaceship, that was completely filled with water. There, he could sleep in comfort, and in his natural habitat. But for now, he would head out. Making sure that his trusty sword was at his side and his enchanted water armor below his cloak was alright he stepped out, forming a walking stick of water, before striding off.

"Good luck with that. I don't think that many people are going to be settling here much. At least humans won't be making a move anytime soon. Too much political backlash." Kilian says. "But I've been wrong before. Lucky. You found something you're good at. I'm still just jerkin' around until I find out what the hell I'm going to do with my life. Mercenary has definitely crossed my mind. How do you even get into that kind of thing?" He asks.

"I wanted it to end, so I joined up when I was 100, like many other young wyrms. Our side won pretty quickly, somehow. I was a soldier with no cause to fight for. I took up money as my new cause," said Keralia.

Fighting for what however has yet to be seen." He chuckles. "Man. Like 200 years ago. The only place where you'd find superhumans was in comic books. Stories about them and their escapades and were nothing more than fiction. The biggest one being Superman. The first superhero. And now that everyone is Superman. Now what? Everyone dreamed of having powers at one point or another. And now that everyone DOES have them. It's weird."

I've got like what? 300 years before I die? And here you are already 100 years old. Yeah I don't know what I'm going to do with my life. I want to fight for something.

"Sounds like an interesting planet to grow up on. I never got anything like that. The war was everything," said Keralia, "I grew up surrounded by conflict. You learn how to fight, or you can learn how to die. I chose the former. Anyways, how old are you? I am 128"

"128? Hot damn. I'm only 26. Growing up on Earth is honestly boring. There's hardly any issues to work out. Save for the one involving this planet. But with the amount of people growing to like these guys, I don't see us doing something stupid. Then again. Politicians aren't known for making the best choices. Or smart choices. Or choices. Human ones at least. A war on our planet... with the way things are now. We wouldn't have much of a planet left. Everyone who isn't enhanced would be dead within a week."

"Sounds like your planet is pretty fragile," said Keralia. She remembered what her own planet was like. Much of it was still rubble. Destruction was everywhere, and just by looking at it, you could tell great atrocities had taken place, many times over.

"So, anyway," began Keralia, "do you know of someplace I can spend the night?"

"When you have billions of people who can toss main battle tanks around like an angry toddler with his toys... With nothing short of a tank shell causing any more than a scratch. Pissing them off seems to be a relatively dangerous prospect. I believe one of them mentioned something about speaking to their elder. Something about him having a place for us." He says. "Since we're after the same thing. I suppose we should go together?" He suggests.
