April 1892

Sapa Inca Apaec III walked through the streets of New Cuzco, as he did every morning. However, this morning felt strange. The crowded streets were just as busy and happy as they always were, however, he had a horrible feeling.

His feeling was confirmed when the crack of a gun echoed, and he felt a bullet enter him. Falling over, as the crowds surged to attack the man who shot the Sapa Inca, he croaked in agony, as several people began to administer medical attention before doctors could come to transport the Sapa Inca to a facility. One such man, Coniraya Tristán Ruiz, was busy pulling the Sapa Inca's garb away to get to the bullet wound. However, in doing so, he discovered a large number of gauze bandages on the Emperor's chest. Pulling them off, a woman's chest became visible to everyone nearby. The man used the Emperor's chest wrap to bandage up the blood coming out.

The young 19 year old Emperor would survive the assassination, however, soon, news spread that Emperor Apaec III was in fact not a man, but rather a woman. The uproar spread to the National Assembly, which called upon the so called "Emperor" to explain himself, once she made a recovery lying in a hospital.

Some people theorized that it was simple for the Emperor to pass off his feminine form and appearance since the Sapa Inca wore a colorful headpiece, and had a tradition of wearing dark eye makeup, and always being clean-shaven., as well as their traditional outfit being a flowing robe, taking on more of a priestly look, than a powerful monarch.

The Thai army in alarm, massed a large force to halt the Confederate offensive at the Mekong River. In order to trap them, they took advantage of their knowledge of the terrain to cause large numbers of deaths amongst the Confederate ranks.

There were now three battles in Indochina: the Mekong, Phnom Penh, and Vinh. Which side would win them, only time would tell.

Baghdad, Rum

The Ilkhan soldiers were marching towards Morocco, and decided to rest from the long march outside the city of Baghdad. While they set up the temporary camp, some of the soldiers went into the city and purchased food and other necessities. Outside in the camp the soldiers sung folk songs and decided to wait until morning before marching again towards Morocco.

Oron, Nigeria

The Venezuelans charged into the city after the Militamen, however, unbeknownst to them the reinforcing Italian Legion also marched towards the city and began fighting the Venezuelans on the streets.

Calipha Adile, already at an advanced age, had traversed on the Hajj Rail to Baghdad to meet the volunteers coming into the country. At their camp, the Calipha addressed them with an Islamic prayer, and a wish of good luck. She also provided them with ample food supplies for free, and said that they were doing Allah's work.

After the CS forces punched a hole in Canadian defences and moved up along the Allegheny Mountains, forces now had to be arrayed from across southeastern Canada to effectively contain the invasion force. Now, in New York's southern tier, General Nelson Miles, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Canadian Army, had arrayed 70,000 men, the largest force available at the time, to keep the Americans from joining hands with the Quebecois forces in Vermont and upstate New York. More importantly, he had orders from Lord Stanley himself that Albany was to be defended to the last man if they should get so far.

The Crimeans would also fire at the Ukrainian rebels. Two have died, but they mainly remained behind the British, partly for their own safety, because the British led this charge, they have to let them lead. Then they will head to a different town.

Baghdad

After many hours of prayer and reflection, the Calipha ascended the pulpit of the largest mosque in Baghdad and began a cautious speech, which was then telegraphed to the various camps where jihadists prepared for war, and to most Islamic states.

The Dar al-Islam is a ever changing house. To our west lie the forces of the Catholics invading it, waging war against heretics and heathens whom claim to be descendants of Muhammad while yet denying a true point of Islam's heritage. Morocco is under fire, but with the world raging in war, we must make decisions in haste, and sometimes, these decisions are wrong. I spoke before you all from the City of Man's Desire, speaking of the need to drive all kafirs, Andelite and Catholic alike, out of the Sultanate of Morocco.

However, after reflection here in the City of Baghdad, where our Islamic Ghazi stood defensively in vain against the attack of Genghis Khan in the 13th century, I have decided that we must not draw the blade against them, and allow their decadence to be their downfall.

It must be determined that the House of Islam is a friendly religion that does not thrive on violence. And so I ask you, my loyal sons of the Crescent, the followers of the Prophet, may his name be blessed eternally, to turn home and bask in the fruits of your labour for Allah.

And also to remember that the judgements of Allah are righteous and mighty all together.

The War we wage now, a world over, as men of all colors, creeds and faiths draw the blade and raise the cannon against each other, must come first in the minds of the holy, and we must pray together for it's swift end. Even now, as the beaches of the Meiji Islands are stained with the blood of Christians, Buddhists and Muslims, as the fields of Crimea and Ukraine are running red with the blood of much the same, we must not fall to the temptations of violence.

The Andelite heretics are not righteous under the Dar al-Islam, but we will let them exist in our house in a mutual tolerance, for they see themselves as Muslims, and they shout praise to the Prophet and the Lord, and so we shall give them treatment we wish upon ourselves. Let us not draw blood like barbarians, let peace prevail.

Adile did however, issue a statement condemning the Moroccan sect as a "false variant of the holiest religion" but stated that "there is nothing we can do short of spill blood for no reason." No ban on traveling to Mecca was issued on members of the sect, since they did not believe in Hajj anyway. It grated at many conservative imams, but Adile silenced them by bidding their silence.

Marrakesh, Morocco
From his temporary headquarters in a small apartment building in Marrakesh, Ashwath Suthar of the Andalite Sect thanked Adile by releasing an official statement which read; We Applaud the Consideration and Kindness that the Sunni Islamic Sect and their leader Calipha Adile have shown before committing such a terrible act of war. We believe that we can coexist equally on Earth should we stay out of eachothers respective realms of influence. In the future, all disputes should be taken privately before made into an international spectacle that promotes violence such as committing millions to a jihad. Again, we thank the Calipha for her support.

With this kindhearted speech towards the same woman who had earlier wished to have him and the rest of his new faith killed, thousands of more Sunnis converted to the religion, or left for the Rum Empire due East. At the same time, Suthar was being hunted for by the Moroccan Army and trying to be arrested before his message could start a worse uproar than the shells that were incinerating Tangier and Nador would already have started. A new religion in place to undermine the now dead King Hamza's reign and Sunni Faith would not be tolerated by the Moroccan government. Perhaps the Rum people would accept a peace with these filth, but the loyalist forces would not. They battled on, quickly losing to the public opinion, and becoming enemies of their own country.
Rabat was quickly sacked by protestors, and the King's Palace was lit to flames. The Military became the primary leadership in Rabat, as they battled insurgents left and right. Field Colonel Armad Fazhi became the primary leader of the Moroccan Government as a military dictator. His reign would not last long.
In the meantime, he attempted to send the relic of a Navy he still had at the Spanish Navy far outnumbering them off the Northern coast. Ceuta became a highly secure stronghold for the Spanish, and Melillla became a warzone between itself and Nador, where Moroccan Loyalist Forces established large swaths of artillery and made certain the Spanish did not take the city, as much as they shelled it with warships from the coast.

al-Anwar/O Palmeiras, Province of Ilha dos Cães (Canary Islands), Kingdom of Mouraterra, United Kingdom of Portugal
Al-Anwar was on the Canaries. Settled by Moors in the 1800s after some migrating from Madeira due to overcrowding, it was officially declared the capital of Mouraterra by the King of Mouraterra (and of Portugal) by Ferdinand II of Portugal (Emir Ferdinand II of Mouraterra) in 1848.]

The Moors who lived in the two provinces of Mouraterra (Madeira and Ilha dos Cães) followed Sunni Islam, like their Moorish ancestors did in both Portugal and Spain before the Reconquista and the end of Islamic rule over Spain in 1492, and news came from Marrakesh and Rabat of "ethnic cleansing" against Sunni Muslims. The death of King Hamza and the assumption of military control led to a march from the Central Mosque in al-Anwar to the Palace of the Emir, usually resided by a Governor. The Moors then presented their demands to the Governor, demanding that Portugal invade Morocco.

The Governor, Muhammad Cabral accepted the demands and sent a letter to Lisbon...

Lisbon, Estremadura Province, Kingdom of Portugal, United Kingdom of Portugal
King Charles I of Portugal, Azores, Galicia and Emir of Mouraterra had received a letter from Governor Muhammad Cabral of a demand from the Emirate of Mouraterra: demanding a Portuguese intervention in Morocco to "stabilize" the country. It didn't take long for him to make a decision about that: he knew such an action would please many Portuguese who sought a "second Portuguese Empire," to avenge for the loss of most of their overseas territories in the 1830s (in Angola, Mozambique, Macau, Timor and India), as well as Brazil.

But he felt that he should not have to bear the costs of it: after all, only Lisbon was even modernized, while the capitals of the constituent Kingdoms in the Portuguese Empire (as well as Funchal or Bishahar, the former capital of Mouraterra) was somewhat modernized. They were connected by railroad, but otherwise, Portugal was still agrarian: many still lived in medieval conditions, or at best, like what the peasantry lived during the Renaissance. Literacy was low, with only 28% able to read Portuguese (it wasn't standardized at all). The highest was 59% in Mouraterra, but only 2% could read Portuguese and they also could read Arabic.

He also knew Spain would be interested in solving that pesky Moroccan nation and let Spain bask in the sun that is Africa. Thus, he sent a message to Madrid...

To: King Alfonso XIII of the Kingdom of Spain
From: King Charles I of the United Kingdom of Portugal

Your majesty, I am proposing a summit in Madrid to negotiate the Moroccan issue with the goal of ending Morocco's tyranny, so both of our nations can bring civilization to Morocco.

Shall we have it?

Signed,
Carlos I
King of the United Kingdom of Portugal, King of the Kingdom of Portugal, Kingdom of Galicia, Kingdom of the Azores and Kingdom of the Algarves, Emir of Mouraterra, By the Grace of God

The Confderates and Québécois had two main goals: take the region's major cities and meet up with each other.

The three largest Confederate armies in Eastern Canada and New England were:
- an army from Detroit, to take Windsor, Ottawa, and Toronto
- an army from Columbus, to take Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Albany
- an army from Baltimore, to take Philadelphia, New York, and Boston

The three largest Québécois armies in the region were:
- an army from Montreal, to head for the Confederate forces in Detroit
- an army from Ville du Quebec, to seize Lake Champlain and the Hudson, pushing south for Albany and New York
- an army in Gaspe, to take Fredericton, Moncton, and Halifax.

March 2, 1892
Occupied British Honduras

With the administration of the colony evacuating to Jamaica, the remaining garrison in Belize City surrendered.

London

Within hours, the news arrived in London. Salisbury responded by sending a force of 20,000 and six destroyers, a force Britain could ill afford to lose, off to British Honduras. They would arrive in two weeks.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

With the hole in the Candian defences, Pittsburgh was trapped in a difficult place. The Central Confederate Army would soon arrive in Western Pennsylvania while the Southern Army miraculously was turning east towards Philadelphia. They now prepared for a siege using more trenches east of the city and keeping 30,000 men at readiness.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Province's Premier and Lieutenant-Governor had already evacuated Harrisburg, and the provincial assembly was on its way into town. No trenches were made here, and 90,000 men under Brigadier Herbert Settle were prepared to fight the forces coming from the west and south.

Windsor, Ontario

On the Northern Army's front, things were somewhat worse. Windsor was overtaken within hours on March 1, and a fierce urban battle was now taking place. General Thomas Strange was once again called out of retirement and sent to London, where the first line of defence would be established against the Northern Confederate Army.

New England and Atlantic Canada

The Vermont Line in the north of the province and the Anderson line along the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border still held firm, but with the arrival of the Quebecois forces, none knew how long it would last.

Ottawa, Ontario

Here the western Quebecois force now crossed the river, and the Canadians were forced to defend the city.

Belize, URCA

The Republic of Belize was proclaimed and declared "in federation with the United Republics of Central America" within a half-hour. The banner of the URCA flew high above the banner of the Belize colony, which remained the flag of the British Honduras. While this was happening, Tawantinsuyu began to play a risky game.

New Cuzco, Tawantinsuyu

The Sapa Inca had been taken before the High Assembly to be questioned as to the nature of her ruse. The woman who appeared before them was frail from her recovery in the hospital, and was wearing a brown dress. She was escorted by two guardsmen who placed her for questioning. The High Chief of the Assembly, Simón Diego Apocatequil spoke first. "The Assembly hereby calls to order this questioning of the supposed Sapa Inca, Apaec."

He scribbled something down in Spanish, the only writing language available to the Tawantinsuyu nation, since their old language, "Inti", had never developed a writing system before Spanish invasion in the 1500s. Many Spanish colonists had defected to the Empire when it resurged, and now, Tawantinsuyu was most commonly a syncretic creole nation. Simon was a descendant of one of those first couples.

"Explain your story."

"I am indeed the niece of Apaec II de Espina, the daughter of Prince Rafael and his wife, Augusta Demirci, the Turkish consort, and I was the granddaughter of Sapa Inca Luciano. Born only 19 years ago." She bowed her head, before continuing.

"I am the last surviving child of the de Espina dynasty. Apaec II died a childless, bitter man... Luciano died with three sons, the third of whom perished after drowning in the waters of Panama, and my father, who pre-deceased me when I was just four. But the story of why I was a little prince to all of you is what I shall tell."

"I was born in the year 1873. In that time, Apaec II was still childless, and the nation was gripped with trying to either replace him with my father, or hope that Apaec II had a proper heir. Unfortunately, neither of these things occurred. When my father took deathly ill in 1875, and Apaec II did as well, this meant that the crown would have no male heir to go to, thus weakening it in the eyes of many opportunists -- As tradition, I and my sisters were not revealed to the world until we were six years old, keeping in line with the ultimate privacy we kept as so the parents may shape us into future Sapa Inca, and that we may in privacy, discover ourselves."

"That year, my mother began to treat me differently than my sisters. While my father and uncle coughed up blood and were confined to quarters, moaning and shouting for Amaterasu to put them out of their misery, I was no longer allowed to wear the flowing, colourful gowns of my sisters. I was no longer allowed to have long, lovely hair. My mother began to call me Octavio, and did not call me by my birth name anymore... Maritza. Taking my father's dagger from the wall, she sliced my hair off, and hugged me tight, saying that name... Octavio." She looked away from the High Chief and said, "My uncle recovered, and my father did not. My father remained deathly ill. As I was raised to be the true heir of the first Sapa Inca of a new age in the Empire, I was constantly referred to as Little Luciano, as my martial skills outmatched that of the other students under the sword master."

"In 1877, my father died, leaving me the heir to Apaec II. The nation stirred at the identity of me, and I began to accept the fact that I was a boy -- I was Octavio de Espina, son of Rafael, and grandson of Luciano... and at the age of 11, my mother began to bind my budding chest as so to stave off the inevitability of womanhood. Then, Apaec II died a childless man, leaving me as his heir. Octavio de Espina rose to the occassion, and claimed the throne in his name, and called himself Apaec III, to honor his fallen uncle... and he kept his dirty secret, as so not to cause trouble."

The council was silent. Maritza spoke quietly, "My mother and I did what we thought best for the Empire... and that's all I have to say about that." She stood up, and quietly left the room, leaving the men to stir in their own silence.

Maritza was escorted back to the palace, where the nation remained silent, as the news of her testimony spread from Tawantinsuyu's capital, across the empire and across the globe.

Octavio Punchau de Espina, Prince of Tawantinsuyu, and I remained as such for years to come. The age difference between us was always an issue, and he and I were never close. When he died and departed this world.

Chodren Dawa had a lukewarm reception for her second book, Obscurity. Thus, she decided to work on a play (without characters), "The East is Red" (東方紅), detailing an alternate China had history took a different path.

The play begins with the Daoguang Emperor in the 1830s issuing an edict against opium. A fictional British Empire under Queen Victoria sees it as a threat to British interests and the armies (Chinese in Chinese dress, British in British dress) sing a number, "I want opium" (我想鴉片), set to a medley of British and Chinese music. After the defeat and a signing of an unequal treaty, the Daoguang Emperor dies in 1850 after committing suicide by smoking too much opium, the Taiping rebellion occurs, and both sing "Three Rules and Eight Notices" (三個辦法和注意事項八).

After that, it skips to the Boxer Rebellion, led by Cixi to fight against European domination of China. Again, European troops, this time with British, French and even Japanese men singing "Ode to Joy" (歡樂頌) as they fire blanks at the Chinese, then the Chinese fire blanks as they sing another number "Defend the Yellow River" (保衛黃河).

Once that was done, it progresses to the Xinhai Revolution (辛亥革命) led by Sun Yat-sen, ending the Qing Dynasty and breaking the dynastic cycle. With the National Banner Song (國家國旗歌) performed, they then perform "Song of Warlords" (投名狀之歌) as they show Chinese people fighting each other with warlords carrying the flag.

Immediately after, they all reconcile, and all join in to sing "Song of the Civil Revolution" (在國民革命歌), complete with nude dancing regarding "Chinese decadence," (中國頹廢) singing immediately after a sexually suggestive song based off of Mandpop in the 1880s.

Now, it chronicles the rise of the Chinese Communist Party, and the Three Rules and Eight Notices get performed again, followed by the CCP fighting the Kuomintang. At the same time, Japan invades and installs Wang Jingwei who implements "The Final Solution" as dictated by Li Xiagong: to the Chinese race with the goal of taking over all of the Orient. The play displays rape of Chinese women, the enslavement of children and the killing of Chinese men, and a "Japanese" song (The Flag Up High, 旗高高) is performed.

The CCP and the KMT make peace and led by Jiang Zemin, they drive out the barbarous Japanese, but not too long after, they fight briefly, before the KMT gets defeated. The CCP then sing the "March of Volunteers" (義勇軍進行曲), before Jiang Zemin announces that "China only needs ten million to survive. To keep you is no benefit, to destroy is of no loss."

The next scene shows empty cities as all Chinese living in the cities were ordered to leave for the countryside. Afterwards, they are seen toiling, singing "Sailing the Seas Depends on the Helmsman" (大海航行靠舵手) off key, as they were beaten by party officials. Many "drop dead," while elsewhere in Taiwan, the exiled government with Japanese and Confederate support attack China and liberate it from the genocidal communists. They enter the field and free the "new people" from their captivity, and then rebuild China to make it strong.

Everyone then goes on stage for a final number: the National Banner Song.

With that done, Chodren Dawa publishes it in English, Tibetan, German, Chinese, Russian and Japanese, and sends the Russian version to Russia and the Japanese version to Japan, and the German version to Qingdao. She prepares for a performance of it... little will she know that it will drive her out of Shanghai.

The Japanese were upset by the depiction of their own nation in the play, and lead to an outcry against it. The play was never formally released in Japan, as firms refused to permit it. Sun Yat-sen called it "a farce" and stated that the Kuomintang's anti-Qing goals were not going to lead to such things.

The East is Red made its premiere in Shanghai, and immediately booed and jeered, first because of lese majeste, by depicting their Emperor in a negative light, insulting the Chinese nation, the nudity, the rape and killing, and the portrayal of Japan as a foe. When the play ended, the audience stormed the stage and set fire to the theater. Only two died by trampling, but Chodren Dawa was met with an angry mob when she left.

She hastily ran to her house, got her clothes, and then basically ran to the train station, catching the next train leaving Shanghai, not caring where she went, as long as it left Shanghai. It was heading west, and some of the mob chased after the train. Officers arrested 984 people, or most of the mob.

The very next day, The East is Red was banned in China, primarily for lese majeste and offense to the nation. Chodren Dawa however was not wanted by police for creating it.

The Confederates surrounded the city to siege it.

The Confederates sent scouts ahead and noted that there was little defensive structure around Philadelphia. As such, it was decided to divide the army a few miles south of the town so that it would be roughly half-and-half and divided by the Delaware River. From there, the Confederates would bomb the city(avoiding historical locations such as the Old State House) using zeppelins, followed by the Confederate army charging what remained.

The Confederate forces, armed with reinforcements coming up from the outer territories of the CSA and its Mexican puppets, left the guardians of London behind in a well-defended pocket, moving the majority of their men towards Toronto.
New England and Atlantic Canada

The Vermont Line in the north of the province and the Anderson line along the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border still held firm, but with the arrival of the Quebecois forces, none knew how long it would last.

The Quebecois made destroying the Vermont Line their main priority for the time being, putting the Anderson Line as a secondary goal.
Ottawa, Ontario

Here the western Quebecois force now crossed the river, and the Canadians were forced to defend the city.

The Quebecois moved to seize the city quickly, launching a massive charge across the Outaouais River.

In the West, the Confederates made two main offensives: one up the Pacific coast, and one to take the Dakotas, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

After the release of "The East is Red", Sun Yat-sen and the Kuomintang formally filed a lawsuit against Chroden Dawa, accusing her of "slandering the Kuomintang name and cause" with her play, as well as slandering Sun Yat-sen's own character. The play was further completely rejected by the Japanese operatic collection.

Unfortunately for them, Chodren Dawa basically abandoned Shanghai in the wake of the riots. She had arrived in Lhasa, and headed to Phari, her hometown, taking several months. She wanted to take refuge, but as she headed to Phari, she began preparing herself for a new book. She hoped her parents would still be alive, and if they are, willing to forgive her for running away from the monastery...

From: King Fernando Capello, royally referred to as King Capello I

Such a summit in Madrid would be costly and take much needed time. We could primarily just discuss the situation through the tool I use to send this to you now; the telegram. If you would still rather meet in Madrid, arrangements can be made.

Signed,
King Capello I
King of the Kingdom of Spain

Thailand

While the Japanese army bore down on the Confederate landing in Southern Vietnam with ferocity, the Confederates had managed to pierce a hole in the lines and were now advancing into the jungles of the Mekong. Thai and Japanese forces assigned to this diversion took up methods of guerrilla warfare against the CSA, hoping to grind their army down with attrition. Likely also was a cut-off of supply from the interior as the Japanese army and navy made the effort to destroy the CSA's landing party.

To: King Capello I of the Kingdom of Spain
From: King Charles I of the United Kingdom of Portugal

I shall accept your request to have it done by telegram.

In any case, to end the Moroccan tyranny over its inhabitants, and to ensure that we can civilize both countries, I propose dividing the so-called "Kingdom" into three parts. These parts shall be...

-Portuguese Morocco, to be comprised of the northern regions of Morocco
-Spanish Morocco, to be comprised of the southern regions of Morocco, as well as a strip of land connecting Cueta and Melilla
-a joint Luso-Spanish administrative zone in the central areas of Morocco

In Portuguese and Spanish Morocco, Portugal and Spain respectively shall exercise the areas that they control whatever they please; whether integrating them into the respective realms or making it a colony.

In the Luso-Spanish administrative zone, two governors: one from Portugal and the other from Spain both administer the region.

This region shall be open to Spanish and Portuguese settlers, and they will have an advisory council of 20 representatives elected by the settlers to propose laws: for legislation from the advisory council to be law, they must be approved by both governors: if one vetoes it, they must alter the legislation to please the vetoing governor. If both governors veto the bill, it is nullified. If no legislation says otherwise, the settler will either follow Portuguese or Spanish law depending on where he came from and be tried accordingly. Foreigners and Arabs will be tried either in Spain or Portugal, depending on who the ethnicity of the peace officer is.

Any suggestions?

Signed,
Carlos I

The Confederates were moving only to make chaos, and focused primarily on attempting to demoralize Japanese and Thai civilians and soldiers by advancing without any heed to the dangers and attacking targets as able.

All seems well, besides the fact the proposed Luso-Spanish administrative zone will be hard to settle. I will elaborate, if you can keep this under wraps. I do not wish it to get to the public yet. It involves this new faith of Islam. We support such a move for now, and with that regard, before the riots began, we promised they would get a voice. We will double cross them now, but things might get risky. The Spanish have known about it the entire time. In the meantime, Spanish ships are continuing to bombard the Northern coast, but can move aside if your forces would rather begin taking your territory. A path going around your territory on the Eastern edge will be required to allow us to reach our Southern Lands from Ceuta and Millila. As such, the North coastline will not be yours, but the Western one near Rabat will. This again, can be negotiated later on. In the meantime, realize Casablanca will be ours, but you can have Rabat.
