In 2011 after years of work NASA's secret program TRIARC or Time Research Intelligence and Research Center was successful in finding the absolute dimension of time. With it they found the way to send items back. Over months they established new ways to send bigger items back. Then on the May 7th of 2012 the first living mammal a dog named Kennedy after one of NASA's founders and the former President. He survived and received no damage to any portion of his body. That was when they asked their workers to test it out. Eventually, head of security wanted to show an example of bravery to his men and volunteered. On March 4th, 2013 the first man to travel through time survived the ordeal. However, this form of time travel was not cleared for use due to the risks of a time paradox. Thats when the possibility of interdimensional travel was discovered. When unregulated by safety power, the portal overflew and opened a portal into a parallel dimension which also inhibited time travel. So, to do a test on its integrity they would decide on an extreme situation and make sure it would work in another universe. That was when they contacted the US Navy and requested for a two SEAL teams to be available for their final testing. After realizing that this was a way to acquire unlimited resources they agreed and the secret plan was set.
It was August 9th 2014 when NASA would take the final step to sending people back in time, and the teams were about to receive their mission. Their mission in this universe was noble, but after that point they would begin using the ability to travel to other universes in times when the nations of the world couldn't fight back and they could achieve unlimited interdimensional wealth and travel. This corrupt secret operation knew what it was doing, but the two seal teams did not, for them they were left in the dark until the final day of testing. Then they would be told to do something for a noble cause.
Their mission would be to stop the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria due to the massive effects it would have. The scientists had historian analysts look over the event for them and the trickle effect. This would be posted in an NPR article and report
This in itself would not be a bad action overall, however, it would lead to the greatest achievement of mankind, interdimensional time travel allowing them to go anywhere, anyplace, in anytime. Not only this but they could go to planets long before Humans had a chance of defending against the Modern American Army and incorporate them into places to mine for minerals, farm, fish and even create colonies. It was a bright future if used wisely, however the greed and the power people gained from this technology corrupted the head Scientists and they sought to make themselves profit.
For the SEAL teams that would be going back in time, it was an honorable and ambitious mission and best of all one they would gain from. They were going to be given massive paychecks if they carried out their mission and despite it being on orders and not by choice the men going, it seemed worth it. The commander even said they could live a life of luxury in the timeline they saved if wanted though that offer was less appreciated. Overall it was another (though much more extreme) mission and was a war on war. The men all equipped with standard seal team gear and two Humvee's in case they were transported in the outskirts or outside of town (which they hoped to be). Then they would set up positions and prepare to take out the assassins as soon as they arrived in their planned positions.With them would be translators who know turn of the 20th century Serbian and Prussian. They would help the soldiers get around the city. The two SEAL teams were named SEAL team 0 and Seal team 01 to allow them to officially not exist. This way the exploitation of the past would go unnoticed.
