Hello everybody! I assume you clicked on this little thread because you either a) like the show RWBY, and/or b) like RPs. Great! Then this is for both of you!
Welcome to the world of Remnant. Mankind was born on this planet. But other creatures preyed on man until the discovery of Dust, magical elemental crystals which allowed man to beat back the darkness. Four settlements are humanities last hope on Remant. You are in Vale, on the continent of Vytal. More specifically, you have been accepted to Beacon Academy, a school which trains young warriors to battle the evil monsters known as the Grimm.
At Beacon, you will be assembled into teams of 4 after the initial training, where you will be thrown into combat which will test both your mind and body. In Beacon, your team will be named by combining the first letters of your names and turning it into a word, such as RWBY(ruby), JNPR(Juniper), and CRDL(Cardinal)
There are two races on Remnant that we know of so far: humans and Faunus. Humans are like us. Faunus are human-like, but with animal traits. Known traits are bunny ears, cat ears and monkey tail. These races once warred but there is now a relative peace between the two races, enough that both humans and Faunus fight alongside of each other against the Grimm. There is still animosity and bigotry between the two races, particularly toward the Faunus. The Faunus fight back through the White Fang, a diplomatic group turned terrorist organization which originally represented the Faunus to humanity, but turned to violence after years of abuse.
If you've watched RWBY, you know the weapons are amazing. Each weapon, powered or enhanced by Dust, are usually multiple weapons in one: Ruby's scythe is also a sniper rifle, Yang's gloves are also guns, and Pyrrha's sword is also a spear and a carbine. Faunus weapons are usually more Japanese, or at the least Asian, in design, like Blake's kasarigama/sword/pistol or Sun's Bo staff/nunchaku/shotgun. Human weapons are more Western in design, such as Weiss's rapier or Jaun's sword and shield combo.
In addition to overpowered weapons, you also have magical abilities. Called Semblance, these abilities are physical manifestations of your aura. Known semblance are speed, glyphs/runes (movement, time and elemental), shadow (very much like shadow clone jutsu), fire enhancement, force field, and magnetism. You can pick from this list and the expanded list when more Semblances are revealed with Volume 2 of RWBY, or create your own, though I won't allow ones that are too OP (like instant death or unlimited flying).
Please apply for a place at Beacon. As the volume 2 of RWBY premiers, the RP will most likely be shaped according to the new season, most notably with new character designs, weapons and enemies. For the sake of this RP, you'll be fighting against the Grimm although I may decide to throw in some White Fang terrorists to incapacitate.
Here is what each application should have:
Name: First and Last
Age: 16-20, though some leeway is possible.
Gender: male or female, though if you want to be diverse I won't exclude
Race: human or Faunus. There don't seem to be any mixed race yet (though I could be wrong). If you name a character that is half of both I'll allow mixed races. If you choose Faunus, please provide your animal. Known animals are cat, bunny/rabbit, and monkey, though it can be assumed wolf/canine is also a possibility.
Appearance: hair color, eye color, and a basic clothes description is alright.
Weapon: a name and basic description
Semblance: speed, strength, glyphs, shadow clones, etc... Try to keep it reasonable but be creative.
Back story: trained at Signal academy should be a default backstory for most people, though there are some oddballs

Age: 15
Gender: Female
Race: human
Appearance: Short black hair, silver eyes. Red cloak with black dress.
Weapon: Crescent Rose; scythe and sniper rifle.
Semblance: Speed
Backstory: Attended Signal Academy and was taught to use Crescent Rose by her uncle, Qrow. Was allowed into Beacon after fighting Dust thieves by Professor Ozpin, the head of Beacon.
As a second example, here's mine:
Name: Lee Kong Kam
Age: 18
Gender: male
Race: Faunus. Wolf.
Appearance: silver hair, dark brown almost black eyes, black cloak with dark brown, leather-like body armor underneath.
Weapon: Dragon's Teeth; two collapsible sai, with a trigger on the handle. Can fire bullets from the handle, allowing faster jabs and stronger punches, as well as ranged attacks. Thin wire wrapped around handle allows for the sai to be thrown and pulled back.
Semblance: Shoot fire from feet, used to "skate" on the flames for fast movement or enhance kicks.
Backstory: attended Signal before being accepted to Beacon academy. Wants to become a Hunter after witnessing destruction of Faunus camp by Grimm.

) Trained at Signal in the same class as Yang. Took a few lessons from Professor Qrow on how large axes and scythes are similar, but this was extremely limited. Despises any lessons outside of History, Faunus History, Weapons, and Creatures of Grimm. Not good with math or science, but excels at social studies and war strategy. Loves weapons almost as much as Ruby, and made Vulcan. Awkward when you first meet him, but warms up to you pretty fast. He is a big fan of Faunus Rights, but doesn't like nor trust the White Fang. In all honesty, he'd sooner kill a White Fang member than say hi.
