Xing wrote:Gilbert had gone through his morning routine and headed instead for the hangar rather than the mess hall. He had talked with his mother the day before about what to do about his lack of a VALK while the new one was built. They both had decided it'd be best for him to resort back to a machine that he had seen a successful service history with and could be trusted to mesh well with him. Thus they had made the request for the previous generation, the Iskander, to be shipped in from its current storage. It had apparently arrived through the course of the night and he figured it'd be best to get reaquainted with his "old friend" before they were shipped out. As he walked in he saw the gleaning metal of the braced mech as it stood in the hangar with his mother waiting at it's heel. He couldn't help but feel a bit sentimental as he walked over and ran a hand over its foot.
"And how have you been?" He asked as if talking to an old friend. "I guess we couldn't let you sit there forever."
"Well there's not much of a use for it. Until another Valkyrie comes along and adopts it, it's not going to do much good to just leave it there." Dr. Jarnefeldt replied.
"So I take it you did your full check up on it? I do believe he and I have a bit of reaquainting to do."
"Yes, 'Kander has a clean bill of health." the doctor said with a chuckle. "I would have recommended you take him for a spin to readjust to the older systems.
He knocked on the metal and headed up to the cockpit to get reaquainted with piloting the machine. It wasn't a flight focused machine like the Guardian and instead only had rudimentary jump jets so he'd need the time to let the old feel come back to him. He powered up the machine and the system booted up to its light blue green color. The various readouts and displays showed each of the various systems as they all ran their numbers and gave the ready indication. All systems gave the green light and one of the engineers disengaged the bracings holding the mech in place and Gilbert walked it out the hangar door. The white metalic finish of the mech gleamed in the faint light of the rising sun. He spent a good deal of his time just to simply march the mech up and down the side of the runway and refamiliarize himself. As he started the weapons in test mode he was careful to check their responsiveness to raising and locking to a target.
"Just under one second raise and target sighting, about two for guaranteed target tracking, and an additional four for missile locks. Its not quite as quick as the Guardian, but I'll readjust."
"Well I'd hope so." Dr. Jarnefeldt rang through the comm speaker. "Otherwise you might disappoint your old friend there."

At which point she took a shower and put on a new uniform, the fresh smell of the laundry detergent made her feel like good times would hopefully come to pass. Thus she left for the mess hall, intending to grab some much needed food and drink. She could feel her stomach gurgling in hunger, as if goading her to move faster.
Constantine, on the other hand had gone by his own usual routine. Doing melee and ranged weapons practice after an early Spartan breakfast. Taking a shower shortly after and following that up with an equally austere lunch he moved to the hanger to check on his VALK. Constantine jealously guarded his machine, and preferred to supervise and assist in repairs and maintenance. Even to the point where he could fix the VALK himself in the field if the situation arose. Or so he thought, for he never wished to be put in a situation where he would have to do such a thing.

Pleasure to meet you as well." She said with a light-hearted voice, but instead in her mind her thoughts revolved around "He'll probably stare at my ears.. And ask a lot of questions..", she braced herself for the barrage of questions that she guessed would happen.

Charlotte opened the door and walked up to Alexandra's desk. She stopped and stood with her arms crossed and a smile on her face.
"So I have a bit of an issue that I'd like to lodge a formal complaint about." Charlotte started. "When you had said you would withhold my pay a couple days ago, it got me thinking. Gama already has been withholding it from me. I do believe that I've been denied about three years of pay up to this point, and as you can surely understand I am more than a little upset by this and would like to receive what I have been denied."
