Planeswalker

In Magic: The Gathering, a Planeswalker is a powerful mage who is able to travel across the planes of existence. There are infinite worlds across the Multiverse, and Planeswalkers are unique in their ability to move from one world to the next, expanding their knowledge and power through the experiences they collect there.
One in a million sentient beings are born with “the spark,” the ineffable essence that makes an individual capable of becoming a Planeswalker. Of those born with “the spark,” even fewer “ignite” their spark, enabling them to realize their potential and travel the planes. Most Planeswalkers have their spark ignited as the result of a great crisis or trauma, but every awakening is different. A near-death experience might ignite a Planeswalker’s spark, but so could a sudden, life-changing epiphany or a meditative trance that enables the mage’s grasp of some transcendent truth. There are as many such stories as there are Planeswalkers.

The
Colors
of
Magic

Mages and planeswalkers of the Multiverse can cast a vast array of spells—they can drain the life of a foe, supplement their allies with arcane strength, even summon a dragon. But all magic requires mana. Mana is the magical energy that powers spells. Where do you get it? Mana comes from the land. Mages must know a place to gather mana from it. Mana is scarce, so mages don't have infinite energy to cast spells. They must make bonds with lands to gain new sources of mana.

Green — Forests

The
Planes

The Multiverse—a boundless expanse of worlds, each different from the last. These worlds, called planes, differ as widely as the imagination. One plane might be covered entirely in dense jungle, for example. On another, city has replaced nature entirely. Still others are volcanic, icy, barren, or more like our own world, with many varied elements.

Most planes are spheres with an atmosphere and one or more suns and moons; they resemble planets. But there is no law of physics common to all planes of the Multiverse. Planes can be infinite expanses of matter, tiny specks of empty space, or logic-defying inversions of normal reality. A plane can contain an entire, sprawling universe or nothing at all.

Only one thing unites all the planes of the Multiverse: mana, the energy that fuels magic. Mana infuses the land, and only those with a connection to the land can call upon its mana. Some planes are far richer in mana than others. On those planes, magic is powerful and commonplace. Elsewhere, where mana is scarce, magic is rare.

Average beings have no idea that planes exist beyond their own. They live their lives believing their world is the only world. Their perception is limited by the scope of their experience, cut off from the rest of the Multiverse. Only planeswalkers know the greater truth: that each plane is but one of many, and that only they can travel to planes beyond their own.

All planes are connected by the substance of the Multiverse itself: the Æther, called the Blind Eternities by planeswalkers—the only beings who ever see it. In this chaotic, surreal expanse of uncontained energy and matter, time, distance, and the senses have little meaning.

Their ability to cross the Blind Eternities is not the only thing that makes planeswalkers different from every other being in the Multiverse. That ability leads them to form connections with many different lands, to encounter hundreds or even thousands of different races and creatures, and to learn a vast array of spells—more than most archmages bound to a plane could ever hope to master.

The vastness of the Multiverse and the wonders it holds...that is what unites all planeswalkers, what drives them forth, through the Blind Eternities and into planes beyond their own.


The
Story

The RP is set the Academy, a Plane that has only a single building floating through it's otherwise empty, but vast space. The Academy was founded by the Infinite Consortium to be a recruitment center for planeswalkers. The Professor, and the teachers, as well as the students, rebelled, and defeated the Infinite Consortium. The Academy first began to keep planeswalkers from joining the Infinite Consortium, or their rivals, the Silver Golem, and to train them in the arts of magic. But the role of the Academy changed, and it became it's own planeswalker faction. The Academy now serves to keep both the Infinite Consortium from destroying the Silver Golem, and vice versa. The Academy works hard to keep both of the pfactions from gaining the upper hand in their war, and to keep the Multiverse from sinking into the flames of their war.


The
Factions

Infinite Consortium
The Infinite Consortium was a mercantile organization that spanned several planes. It specialized in procuring all possible items clients could ask for, even merchandise from other worlds. The Consortium was founded by Nicol Bolas but was usurped by Tezzeret in a bloody coup d'etat several years before the Conflux. The headquarters, under Tezzeret's leadership, was located in the Iron Tower in a desert region of an unknown plane.

While the individual cells survived to some extent, the organization as a whole was dissolved, when Jace Beleren crushed Tezzeret's mind, destroying all the information needed to run the Consortium with him. With little direction, Jace returned to the remnants of the Ravnica cell and assumed leadership of it. It is currently the only known active cell.

That is the history of the Infinite Consortium. But unbeknownst to Jace, the organization grew, like a water from a fountain of corruption. One of the old members, whose name is unknown, continued on with his cell. It grew from its original purpose to a Plane conquering machine. They have recruited multiple planeswalkers to their cause, and have built a vast, inter-Plane empire.
The Silver Golem
Founded on an unknown Plane by Karn to stop the spread of a Phyrexian threat to the planet, it was made up of several planeswalkers. They soon defeated the Phyrexians, but realized another threat to the Plane: The Infinite Consortium. And the rest is history.
The War
Across the Multiverse, you'll find agents of both factions fighting each other, either in an open-war that can ravage whole Planes, or secretly, Cold War-style. Both sides look for extremely powerful objects that could give either side the upper hand.

In this RP, you'll be taking the role of a resident of the Academy. You'll either be a student, a teacher/staff, or an alumni. The Academy is a school for planeswalkers, and commonly goes on field trips to war-torn beautifully landscaped Planes.

Backstory: Born in Stensia to the Markov family, he was seen as a social pariah by many. Most considered his obsession with distant family member Sorin to border on the insane. For months at a time, Josev would lock himself up in Sorin's old study. Recently (before the Innistrad Block), Sorin had returned, with mysterious artifacts. Sev investigated them, and ended up having his spark ignited. He planeswalked away, to a Plane war-torn by the Consortium and Silver Golem. The Professor was on a mission there, and recruited Sev. He had been learning at the Academy ever since.

White Magic
White mana comes from sprawling plains, sunlit savannahs, and windswept meadows. In Magic, white is the color of law, order, and structure. White magic heals and protects and is often a force for justice and honor. When a white mage fights, legions of troops thunder across the battlefield with their banners held high. Enemy hordes are routed outside the gates of a castle. When white unleashes its wrath, the battlefield is cleansed of all life.

Order, protection, light, law: These are white magic's values.

White mages achieve balance through strategy and organization. For white mages, society is more important than the individual. They build strong defenses, rally the troops, and protect their allies. White magic heals injured soldiers so they can answer the call of battle again and again. White mages amass enormous armies, but sometimes a single, awesome champion is necessary to teach the enemy a lesson. At their best, white mages are self-sacrificing and moral. At their worst, they are uncreative and even authoritarian.

Examples of white spells include cleansing and healing magic, blinding light, and devastating waves of purifying energy.

White-aligned creatures are orderly, defensive, and cooperative. They gather fast and strike first. White mages summon majestic angels to devastate the unworthy. Legions of soldiers and knights form effective armies under a white mage's command. The soldiers might be small individually, but together they are overwhelming.

Each of the five colors of magic has two ally colors and two enemy colors. White is allied with green and blue. White mana and green mana share values of holism, order, and community. White and blue mana share values of thoughtfulness, structure, and progress.

White mana opposes red mana through the conflicts of order vs. chaos, defense vs. offense, and strategy vs. spontaneity. Blue Magic
Islands provide blue mana—the magic of the deep sea and the endless sky. Blue magic is about deceit, logic, and illusion. To a blue mage, information and knowledge are paramount. When a blue mage fights, tidal waves crash against rocky cliffs, the wind whips out of stormy skies, and an enemy's spells fail as their creatures vanish into thin air.

Blue magic is reactive, calculated, and methodical. Its strength lies in patience and intelligence. Blue mages work behind the scenes, scheming and stealing secrets. They control their environments completely before making a move. Blue spells and abilities focus on prediction and illusion. Blue is also the color of technology and artifice. At their best, blue mages are inventive and progressive. At their worst, they are manipulative and treacherous.

Examples of blue spells include crashing waves, whirlpools of Æther, and even manipulations of time itself.

Blue-aligned creatures try to deceive their opponents or trick them into using magic in a way they didn't intend. Blue-aligned creatures often confuse, disguise themselves, or steal things from their enemies. Blue mages call wizards and weird beasts of the air and oceans to serve them. It can spread a pestilence across the landscape and drain the life from all who live there. Black spells can curse victims in horrible and enduring ways. They can warp the mind, poison the land, and kill creatures instantly. But the price is high and the risks are many. At their best, black mages are ambitious and unashamed. At their worst, they are enslaving and devouring.

Examples of black spells are tendrils of corrupting shadow, command over the undead, and projection of crippling nightmares into the minds of enemies.

Undead skeletons and ghouls, unspeakable horrors, and diabolical demons are native to places of black mana, and they're as self-serving and treacherous as the mages who control them. Black magic isn't limited to these abominations, though—death-cultists and secret societies of assassins carry out black mages' nefarious plans under cover of darkness. Black mages control the most horrifying of creatures, but always at a price.

At their best, red mages are dynamic, passionate, and unbound. At their worst, they are shortsighted, temperamental, and destructive.

Green Magic
The teeming forests overflow with green mana, the pulse of nature. Green magic is about growth, life, and brute force. When a green mage fights, massive creatures crash through the undergrowth, animals enlarge to gargantuan size, and wounds close before blood spills onto the ground.

Strength, ferocity, and life: These are the values that sustain the green mage.

Green mages understand that the world obeys the law of the jungle—everything is either predator or prey. Green mages do what they can to accelerate and protect nature: jungles expand, artifacts crumble, and creatures regenerate themselves. For green mages, even the plants become lethal weapons. At their best, green mages are instinctual and adaptive. At their worst, they are savage, unthinking, and predatory.

Examples of green spells include wild, lush growth, sudden predatory hunger, and the might of an entire stampede.

Green mages summon a huge variety of creatures, from forest-dwelling animals to territorial elves and awe-inspiring behemoths. Some green creatures are living wellsprings of mana; others overrun their foes in a mighty rush of ferocious power. From towering nature elementals to carnivorous wurms, green creatures are the biggest and mightiest around.

Equipment: Amulet with a skull as the centerpiece
Backstory: Darius was born in Innistrad to a poor and unloved family, his father a town drunk and his mother abandoning him when he was 3. Relying on his father to keep going, Darius had learned to become a fighter and criminal from him, committing muggings and robberies and the like. But that all changed when attempting to break into a local wizard's tower when he was viciously attacked by its occupant, falling nearly 35 feet into the ground, knocking him unconscious. In his mind, he saw a bright light and went towards it. Getting closer, the bright light went off into violent shocks of power. When he awoke, he felt a burning sensation in his whole body, and hearing the footsteps of the wizard, ready to finish what he started. Darius stood up and ran, and as he was running he was instantly teleported away from the tower towards town. He felt this was no work of the wizard, and retraced what happened in his mind. Focusing on thinking what he thought and running, he teleported to the other side of town. He had realized he became a planeswalker.

When he went back into town and told his father, he had planned on using the boys ability to go into the manor of one of Innistrad's wealthy. But after the events that unfolded to reveal his spark, Darius refused to help his father anymore with his criminal activities and left him. For years he had planeswalked the Multiverse, helping anyone in need. But he also felt that he is not reaching his full potential as a planeswalker, and looked towards the Academy for help.

Plane of Birth/Home Plane: Not sure if there's a list I missed somewhere but Earth-like, at approx Rennaisance-era. Steam punk but with Aether instead of steam. Calling it Janquix for now but can change if there's some sort of naming system.
Equipment: A staff, 6' long, made of oak. Polished to be perfectly straight and smooth, with bronze caps on both ends.
Backstory: Banquir was named the chief librarian in the city of Zalden (can be changed or whatever's later, just putting a name for now) in the plane of Janquix. The plane was fought over by the Silver Golem and Infinite Consortium, the city destroyed and he lost everything close to him: his friends, his family, and his books. Banquir wandered through the planes before coming across the Academy. Lost in the infinite books housed in the library, Banquir became just as much a furnishing to the library as the shelves. (Leaving his role in the library kinda vague at the moment in case I'm not accepted as a librarian).

Air Manipulation can also be White, because they consist of a lot of spells that summon birds and bestow flying capabilities. As a side note, I remember summoning an air elemental or creating a wall of air is Blue.

Backstory: Born into a noble house during an uprising can be a double edge sword. You either gain glory during the unrest, or you lose everything and cast out. Ryvers was born into the noble house, House Cronus, just before the final days of the Second Empire. Despite being many times removed from being a direct descendant to the rulers of the House, he was groomed to be a servant to the House. He learned leadership, diplomacy, strategy, tactics among other disciplines. As he grew older, he was even given his own troops to command and lead.

At his fourteenth Spring, a mass revolution was sparked by the Second Empire's decision to further increase already heavy taxes and conscription. Already facing a then powerful enemy, the Second Empire was crushed from both within and without giving rise to the Third Empire, ruled by House Zeus. House Cronus and her loyalists was destroyed, and all their descendants were hunted down to give way for the new ruling House and her followers. Though competent in his own right, what can one young man do against the tide of change? Though he managed to protect what's left of his own family for a time, they were all eventually captured and was to be publicly executed. He was forced to watch his father, mother and siblings hanged as he was forced to watch, a "special treatment" from the enemy general for giving him such a hard time. The moment he saw the dangling bodies of his family in front of him, he felt his mind was bombarded by a sudden burst of brilliant prismatic light. And the next thing he knew, he was lying alone in a wide open plain, with the smell of fresh green grass reminding him that he was still alive.

He had been planeswalking ever since, trying to find a purpose to his life. Without a House to serve, without a family to protect, he has no purpose in life. His outlook had also affected the type of spells that he was capable of using. All this changed when his aimless wandering led him into a world besieged by otherworldly menace. Though his powers were not capable of destroying the invaders, it was more than enough to protect the world's inhabitants. Luckily, an Academy agent was within the proximity and dispatched of the invaders. Impressed with Ryvers's capabilities, he invited Ryvers to join him in the Academy. He accepted, and had since practicing his crafts in her walls.

Ryvers specializes in spells that bestow protection and enhancement to his targets, preferring to strengthen his allies against his enemies by making them stronger, faster and tougher, as well as breaking enchantment and curses from the opposition that affect them. He is also an expert in spells that provides healing, mending and regeneration.

Backstory: One of the oldest teaching staff of the Academy, Theresa (or more commonly known as Mrs. "Flametongue" Arks by her students) was one of those that rebelled against the Infinite Consortium, using her spells to maximum effects by making her opponents look extremely stupid by comparison. She had since became the head teacher of the Blue school of spells. Being a mistress of counterspelling, battlefield manipulation and illusion as well as a top notch scholar, she accepted her position whole-heartedly believing that she could fully excel in her task. Unfortunately for her students though, by devoting her entire life to the Academy also means the arrival of a strict, no-nonsense teacher that was fully capable of getting things done her way or no way. Despite her mostly cold and stern demeanor, she held each and every student of the Academy close to her heart and loved them dearly like a grandmother loved her grandchildren.

It was not known whether she still maintain any connection with the Azorius Senate, being a junior member there long before joining the Academy. However, it was rumoured that she left the guild in bad terms.

Plane of Birth/Home Plane: Funakoshi, a plane modeled after feudal Okinawa during the time of Japanese rule. Strong Japanese influence in architecture and customs.
Equipment: Sai, Kama, and a katana
Backstory:
Gichin lived in his tiny village all his life with his father and two brothers, until the Imperial Army from the North enslaved his people. With weapons outlawed to prevent an uprising, Gichin cherished his one possession after the army had drafted his father and older brothers, a katana hidden in a false bottom box in his room. When news came of the army's complete defeat and the death of his family, Gichin swore the Imperial Army would pay. Training under the martial arts masters who had remained hidden from the Imperial army's "Cultural Repression Units," Gichin learned of his ability to manipulate time, moving faster than anyone else. His master, a Planeswalker, taught him more of the Aether and how to control his powers. Soon, Gichin would master water manipulation and could draw weapons from the earth. Given a pair of sai and a pair of Kama from his master, Gichin went off to find a legendary Academy, at the age of 14.

After wandering through the numerous planes for a year, Gichin came across a cast empty plane, with a single building. Drawing water from the flask on his belt, Gichin used the liquid as a grappling hook and pulled himself onto the facility. For two years, Gichin trained to master more of his abilities, combining his physical skills with his magical ones.

Backstory: Born in a small town in Lorwyn, she grew up as a pure-elf family, who despised all races that were not elves. At the age of 30, while tending to her field (she so happened to be a farmer), she saw a forest fire. Penelope ran to try and put it out, but ended up stuck, caught underneath a large log, that was on fire. Trapped on all sides, she cried out in desperation. Luckily, she was heard and was saved… by a HUMAN.
This was her “Spark” moment. She began to see the world in a different light, wherein elves were no longer the superior race. She started to learn planewalking becoming a master of green magic. Almost a decade later, she began to train with blue magic, as a way of balancing two of her inner tendencies. One of caring for nature and all creatures, to feeling as though she is a superior creature herself. She did this by harnessing aspects of white magic, allowing her to heal small cuts and bruises as well.
She spent most of her time as a protector of the forests of all the planes, defending against both sides, who were trying to take the forests and use the wood and magic hidden inside as fuel for their war.
At the age of 98: which is still quite young for an elf, she decided to teach others about the forest and her style of magic. Thus joining the Academy.

Geomancy (earth summoning) is a red magic. Either way, decoys, golems, and sumonning of any kind, would fall under creature summoning, which is accessible to all colors. Using the element 'earth' would fall under Geomancy.
Fix that, and you're accepted. :)
EDIT: Water manipulation=hydromancy. Just telling you cause that's what i'm going to put in the "accepted magics"

Plane of Birth/Home Plane: Not sure if there's a list I missed somewhere but Earth-like, at approx Rennaisance-era. Steam punk but with Aether instead of steam. Calling it Janquix for now but can change if there's some sort of naming system.
Equipment: A staff, 6' long, made of oak. Polished to be perfectly straight and smooth, with bronze caps on both ends.
Backstory: Banquir was named the chief librarian in the city of Zalden (can be changed or whatever's later, just putting a name for now) in the plane of Janquix. The plane was fought over by the Silver Golem and Infinite Consortium, the city destroyed and he lost everything close to him: his friends, his family, and his books. Banquir wandered through the planes before coming across the Academy. Lost in the infinite books housed in the library, Banquir became just as much a furnishing to the library as the shelves. (Leaving his role in the library kinda vague at the moment in case I'm not accepted as a librarian).

Backstory: Darius was born in Innistrad to a poor and unloved family, his father a town drunk and his mother abandoning him when he was 3. Relying on his father to keep going, Darius had learned to become a fighter and criminal from him, committing muggings and robberies and the like. But that all changed when attempting to break into a local wizard's tower when he was viciously attacked by its occupant, falling nearly 35 feet into the ground, knocking him unconscious. In his mind, he saw a bright light and went towards it. Getting closer, the bright light went off into violent shocks of power. When he awoke, he felt a burning sensation in his whole body, and hearing the footsteps of the wizard, ready to finish what he started. Darius stood up and ran, and as he was running he was instantly teleported away from the tower towards town. He felt this was no work of the wizard, and retraced what happened in his mind. Focusing on thinking what he thought and running, he teleported to the other side of town. He had realized he became a planeswalker.

When he went back into town and told his father, he had planned on using the boys ability to go into the manor of one of Innistrad's wealthy. But after the events that unfolded to reveal his spark, Darius refused to help his father anymore with his criminal activities and left him. For years he had planeswalked the Multiverse, helping anyone in need. But he also felt that he is not reaching his full potential as a planeswalker, and looked towards the Academy for help.

Accepted.
EDIT: Death magic and resurrection magic are basically necromancy. Edit please, and you'll get another Spell Type. ;)

• Take Over Magic: Nightmare Soul
Just like another take over magic, this form allows the user to, essentially, "take over" the power or the body of something or someone. Nathan's form however, is usually based on the monster that appear in his dream long time ago. This ability are proven to be powerful but comes at a high amount of mana and user's health. When using this power, Nathan can only keep a full appearance in just 2 and half minute before collapsing or 10-11 and half minute when only a part of the appearance of the monster.

Abilities that given by the monster:
-Enhanced Strength
-Enhanced Agility
-Enhanced Durability
-Enhanced Speed
-Regenerative Healing Factor

*Note that the access to the ability is depending on how much Nathan changing himself. While changing his leg will give him the speed and agility, it will not give him the strength. Healing factor is only active when he's in full appearance.

Years Spent at Academy:
Half a year.

Plane of Birth/Home Plane:
Armasterra, a plane that heavily based on the medieval western Europe

Equipment:
A mask, a flute, a couple of throwing knife, and a wooden-made boomerang.

Skills:
• Great natural agility and dexterity that also trained for years in a circus make him able to perform some impossible move.
• Good at hand-to-hand combat.
• Amazing flutist

Personality traits:
• His face completely lacks the ability to convey emotions. He can feel emotions, but he can't express them visibly (ie smiling, laughing, frowning, crying..etc)
• values silence/music over socializing/general noises, but he can keep up conversations nonetheless.
• his lack of expression in face and voice tends to repel others (his face either looks bored or irritated by default)
• has a sharp tongue and is blunt at times
• he understands his flaws. For example, if someone's upset he'd feel the need to comfort them, but he correctly chooses not to do/say anything and just keep them company.
• surprising amount of pride; he doesn't like showing weakness in front of others


Backstory:
He was born in a renowned circus where his parents were famous clowns. They had very high expectations for him to follow their footsteps and become the best in the act; they even tattooed his cheeks before he could walk. To their utmost disappointment he turned out to be a complete failure - his face is completely void of emotions and his voice barely changes in pitch when he speaks, causing him to seem permanently bored. Ironically, he is gifted in movement (dexterity, agility, flexibility..etc) that are filled with excitement/feelings when acting or dancing, which they find to be a completely waste of talent for someone that will never perform on their stage. Nathan is also good when using the flute, which once again completely ignored by his parents.

The Circus leader however, isn't agree to throw Nathan talents like that. He then gives Nathan a mask and a role as the Trickster. His light hearted, joyful movements/dances and his flute playing, along with the permanently happy mask, can lure in any crowd and any children, where his natural dexterity enables him to pickpocket the audience just by casually skipping past them. His movements are so playful one would never have guessed what his face really looked like under the mask.

But being a Trickster is not what Nathan's parents' dream, and he end up hated by his own parents. The economy is also making everything hard for the circus as wells. So after 16 years live in the circus, He left behind by the circus with a small group of retiring staffs, along with a small bag of farewell gifts. Feeling that this is his own mistake, Nathan parted ways with the retiring staff and try his luck on the street of Armasterra by gambling (which he usually cheat by using his natural dexterity) and performing street show, which surprisingly providing enough for him to rent a room by night in the local inn.

One night after a long day of work, Nathan sleeping soundly. In his sleep, he was dreaming about a strange creature looking at him deeply. This dream is continuing for almost a week, which is slightly disturbing him. The dream however, start to change after a week. The creature is now moving to him, become more and more closer each night he sleeps. And then one night, after the monster become so close to Nathan, the monster suddenly opens its mouth for the first time and eat Nathan's head. He's never had that dream ever again.

The strange thing is, after he stopped have those dreams. Nathan suddenly able to teleport from one place and another and become a planeswalker. Exited with his newly discovered power, he jumps from one universe to the other. He does that for at least a years,before eventually discover the Academy and decided to learn there.
