One of us, one of us...

You will not have fun with History. I learnt this the hard way

EDIT: Someone has just used the phrase "over and out" on my Facebook. This shouldn't effect me, but it really, really, does.

GOram, History was ALWAYS my favorite subject in school. Don't start acting like I'm joining a cult when I've been a part of it for the greater half of my life.

Also, this just hit me. What happened to Sam's Thompson? IIRC, didn't Smythe take it and basically take over responsibility for maintaining the weapon?

Yeah. It was mine too. Except having an interest and studying something at Uni/College is completely different.

I took a three year Military History course, which I finished the other day, and now my nightmares contain Chicago style referencing and essay writing.

You mean when it wasn't all about rednecks and pawn shops?

This is why I watch the Military channel, or rather the American Heroes channel since that's what they call it now.

Why not Aviation History?

I've always liked Social Studies in general. Also, I think we discussed Smythe taking it, but I don't think it happened IC.

Even that's turning to crap now.

Military History is where it's at, and H2 still has some good stuff (it's basically what the regular History Channel used to be).

OK, again - I'm not dead, but something fairly important school-wise is in great danger of going horrifically pear-shaped and I'm going to have to resolve it one way or another this weekend.
So no post tonight (sorry about breaking what I think was a promise), but I may be able to do something tomorrow.
Very sorry about this.

We have drastically different memories of 90's TV. Mine is more Thomas the Tank Engine, Fireman Sam and the Teletubbies. This really begs the question of why I remember an advert for Carling Black Label.

Oh, I remember THIS Carling Black Label ad from 1989.

Quality advertising. It's just a shame Carling is shite.

All right, school stuff has now gone from "potentially catastrophic" to "moderately annoying". Which is good! Relatively.
So, back to work.

Also, TJ, just to clarify a little bit: the "bad with lorries" thing was sort of a relic of an earlier draft, where Page explicitly mentioned that the earlier UDF assaults on Antelope had made use of tons of big, heavy-duty troop transport trucks that had sort of given away UDF movements in advance, what with all the noise and visibility in the open.

Best if Page doesn't let Talbot know that, he's liable to get even more pissed off if he knows the defenders have reason to suspect an assault...

Well, the defenders to have a reason to get suspicious, what with all the failed raids in the past.
The plan is to have the company sort of stick out of sight on the veldt plain (along with the air support), and just let ES quietly move up and start the assault themselves. As soon as the shooting starts, they move as well.
Surely it'll all go as simply as that.

Good.
Still working to reconcile this little situation I'm embroiled in (as well a helping smidgen of family stuff as well), but progress is definitely being made. Work on the Llamrei Captain's app is proceeding apace.

Waterkloof and Swartkop Air Force Stations are both within the Johannesburg/Pretoria metropolitan area. Rand Airport (inside Johannesburg proper) could also host military aircraft.

Good, because I have a sinking feeling that we may need more then 3 planes.

That area is notorious for thunderstorms, I'm fairly certain. Remember seeing a fair few Tests washed out for bad weather. Quite possible that help may not be forth coming...

which will suck when we run into a squadron of 109's (that what I'm betting will show up at least).

well considering the only op to go according to plan was the one that involved a plan strait out of a dime store comic book, and this plan is way to simple (bordering overkill) either fritz is showing up or the bad guys have managed to both steal and hide a full flight of top of the line fighters.
