Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poor death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die."
- John Donne
A single word escaped a young girl's mouth as she floated through an endless void, taking a moment to grasp onto the situation that had befell her in the first place. The girl's eyes flickered open, her kitsune ears flowing gently as she fluttered with ease in this...... space....The girl did not know where she was, or what had happened, but more importantly she knew not why she was here. Around her body crystals floated and danced, spinning elegantly to reveal a picture of sorts.... a moving picture of someone's life.
"Lance?" she said slowly as she looked at the person in the crystal, apparently talking to someone. Then painfully, the memories started flooding back. All that she loved and cared for undone by moments by a force she had done nothing to stop, Where am I? she thought. I'm dead, I remember now she thought looking at another crystal that displayed her own death, she tried to the best of her ability to recall the last words she had whispered before her peaceful passing. The promise..... her words said echoing in her head, how am I going to fix this?
Kaiya Akiyama was this girls name, and she had indeed died in the fire ball that had consumed the first world, floating past the wave of memories that where presented to her. Thinking back she remembered Lance, and the night that she had gotten drunk and placed some 'obscure images' on his land. This thought made her giggle, but the intimidate pain of the thought of not seeing him again followed. It wasn't the only think she would miss, she loved all the time she spent with her friends.... her family.....
"I'm sorry child" a loud booming voice echoed, "I'm sorry it ended that way." With this statement Kaiya's eyes watered, remembering the voice that she had heard. "Mom?" Kaiya said joyfully, "Is that you?"
"yes child, it is I" said the voice again, "I m going to give you all another chance at this, I'm sorry we couldn't speak longer." Kaiya's ears twitched for a moment before she yelled "Wait!"
"Yes child, I am here" spoke the voice, causing Kaiya to start speaking, "what about the others?" The voice answered quickly, "they will not know where they are, you will need to be their guide... but you will not be doing it alone...."
With a flash of light everything had again gone dark and quite, a voice that seemed far away seemed to be getting louder and louder. "Kaiya...... wake up...." the voice said ecstatically, "wake up!" The loud yell caused the girl to open her eyes, a young girl standing infront of her. "Kyoto....." Kaiya said before tackling the girl and crying, "I thought I'd never see you again...." Standing next to Kyoto was her daughter, Yoko. Something was wrong, she was almost as big as kyoto. Kaiya looked down and saw that herself had also shrunk, "We're back in our child forms!!!" kaiya yelled. "Hai" Kyoto said pointing to a hilly plain with lush, tall, flowing grass. Around the hill we're rocks, large cliffs to be exact. No sign of civilization was present, but among the moving blades of grass that flowed gently in the breeze where some strange looking figures that had been lying down, "That's them..." Kyoto said smiling. Kaiya did not hesitate to take off, knowing exactly what her city had meant. Kaiya, kyoto, and yoko ran to the group of sleeping nations, waiting for them to awaken...
