OOC: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=228532

The world is currently at peace. With the help of three Superhero Organisations, the Justice League, the Avengers, and the X-Men, Earth has experienced an era of unprecedented tranquility three after the fall of major major syndicates, organisations, and other seats of evil. The three Vigilante groups have been recognised by the United Nations and have led to an end of armed conflict world wide, ushering in the current peace, as the world moves towards unification. Batman has since moved into retirement after imprisoning most of his enemies, serving now as an adviser to the Justice League. Superman, Captain America, and Cyclopes serve as the de facto leaders of their respected organisations and with their comrades serve as symbols for the new government

However, troubles still exist. Lex Luthor, once a criminal leader, has been released from prison and from his extreme wealth, is poised to become the next President of the United States of America, is agenda focused on keeping the U.S out of the World Government. In other places, former villains meet in secret, planning to overthrow the new order ushered in by the Heroes. The stage is set for a major break-out of villains to wreak havoc on New York, Metropolis, and Gotham.

IC:

Metropolis

The sun was setting, creating a picturesque image of Metropolis, the early home of Kal-el, known to the denizens of earth as Superman, the Man of Steel. For close to three years now he has assited in the governing of the earth after a seven year crusade against tyranny, crime, and evil, bringing in an era of peace and stability, largely putting an end to the threat of war and establishing the United Nation as a body serving to govern the world peacefully.

Superman stood standing on a tall building, looking over the city he cherished. He smiled at the fruits of his labour, and looked over the bay to see Gotham. Gotham City was once known for its crime and corruption, but the success of Batman, Superman's longtime friend and ally, ended the reign of terror that existed there. He looked also across in the other direction, to New York. Iron Man and the Silver Surfer, as well as a host of other heroes, protected New York in the Avengers, and served as instrumental allies in the new peace.

But something still bothered the Man of Steel. Recently he has felt, uneasy at the peace, as if something was not altogether right about it.

A police siren was soon heard, and Superman rushed over to stop a petty crime, breaking Superman's Concentration.

Deadpool was having a relatively normal day. He had killed three people, although he couldn't remember why (someone must have told him to [Not necessarily.] Yes necessarily!), and was now reading his latest contract. For some reason he couldn't figure out (even though he knew [Didn't you read? He didn't know!] Oh, shut up and get back to the intro!), the contract heavily referenced a large amount of people he didn't know (Or did he?). He decided to read it aloud.

"Die die die kill kill kill. Seems legit." <What? That's not what it says at all!> "Yes it is, what are you talking about?" <Really? Point to the sentence where is says "Die die die".> {I'm going to have to agree with arrows over there, you must have misread that.} "I misread nothing! Why don't you do your job and let me do mine?" {We're doing our job.} "Shut up!"
"I apologize for the rude interruption of my mind. I'll take the job!" <Here we go again...> {Don't you ever say no to a job?} "Nope!"

Green Lantern
As I left Coast City I made my way to Metropolis. Home of Superman. I flew with the power of will and made my way ever closer. Not much to do these days. We heroes have already seemed to won the war on crime, conflict and corruption. But Lex Luther was out of prison now. And I thought Superman should know about it. Maybe he already did. But as I arrived over the grand view that was Metropolis I saw the Man of Steel stopping a petty criminal in his tracks.

It gave me a light chuckle to see somebody even attampt a crime like this in the broad daylight in Metropolis. I flew down and landed behind my long time ally in the Justice League.

"Superman. A word if you dont mind."

Metropolis

Superman had just prevented a minor robbery. It were days like these, when petty criminals came out to play, that made Superman smile at the world, how simple things had become.

Hal Jordan, more commonly known as the Green Lantern, fly toward him, just as Superman put the criminal into police custody. He extend his hand and the two friends shook hands.

"Green Lantern, what a pleasant surprise! Do you have some business in Metropolis?"

Green Lantern
I shook the hand of the Man of Steel before stating my business.
"Well, nothing official Superman. But I wanted to let you know Lex Luthor, the man who has tried countless times to kill you. Has been released from prison. I just thought you should know."

I then leaned back a bit and folded my arms as I awaited a response from Earth's Greatest Champion.

Metropolis

Superman was silent for no more than a few seconds before breaking into a small smile. He patted Hal on the shoulder.

"Green Lantern, I understand the concern, I really do, but we all knew this day was coming. Lex knows if he tries anything, anything at all, not only will the Justice League be on top of him, but the Avengers and the X-Men. For now, we have nothing to fear, but at the first sign of any trouble, we will stomp him like the bug he is."

Green Lantern
I allowed a smirk grin to break out as Superman spoke. It really was just a feeling I had. People like Lex and the Joker. To hear about them being released it just made you get tense. Because things never stayed quiet for long with them around. And I had some respect for the Avengers but less for the X-Men. The Avengers had men like Tony Starks who treated his hero life like a celebrity stunt. And the X-Men had Wolverine who was a wild card.

But I had rather have men like them fighting beside me than against me. Well, I suppose Cap America and Cyclops were alright. I just preferred the company of the Justice League.

"Well, you are right Superman. If you need Green Lantern's Light for anything. You know where to find me."

Tony Stark took off his wielder mask, looking at a newer piece of his suit. He swiped the sweat from his brow and went over to his array of suits. "JARVIS, I'm going on patrol, hold my calls until I return." The AI responded back, confirmed the request. The snarky billionaire then walked to the edge of his Stark Tower and his suit was put on. He then launched, hovered around the city, taking in the noises and buildings of New York. Iron Man flew around the city, picking up on some police radars, and besides a few minor complaints, he didn't hear anything too risky. After he finished his patrol, he decided to go for a joy ride and flew over to Metropolis, doing aerial loops and what not for fun.

Metropolis

"Of course, of course."

He paused for a second, looking out toward the bay.

"We may have to call the Justice League to a conference, however. Something has been upsetting me lately, and I surmise you too sense the forbidding and ominous cloud descending upon the Earth. Something is wrong."

With a wave and smile, the Man of Steel was off. it wasn't long before he ran into none other than Iron Man.

Ironic, Superman thought, the Man of Steel runs into the Man of Iron

"Hello Superman." Iron Man said, slowing down and hovering by him. "How goes Metropolis?" Considering his ability to get through mainframes, almost cracking S.H.I.E.L.D.'s systems, Stark was always curious about the Man of Steel's secret identity, but it seemed the superhero had covered his tracks very well. "Nothing says interesting like politics and old rivals." He had heard of Luther on the television before he left for his patrol. "Shall I start hunting through his emails for you?"

Green Lantern
As Superman left I followed suit and went my own way back to Coast City. Soaring through the air I decided on a whim to leave the planet for a while and patrol the rest of my Sector. As a Green Lantern I unlike most heroes do not only protect a city or region but an entire Sector of space which includes thousands of worlds.

Entering the vacuum of space I felt at ease here. The problems of Earth seemed so distant from space. I then continued to glide out into the vast expanse on my patrol, as Earth was in good hands.

Metropolis

The Man of Steel had to restrain himself from laughing at his colleague. Iron Man was, well, Iron Man. A billionaire turned vigilante, but unlike one of his other friends, but unlike the Caped Crusader, Tony Stark had few, if any, redeeming qualities. A party here, a pretty girl here, might save the world every now and again. True, he was a major help in the War of Peace, but he could also be a hindrance.

"Tony Stark, always a pleasure. You have nothing to fear from our old Friend Lex. Being copped up in jail for three years changes a person, and if it hasn't, we can move against him with much more caution. Now, don't you have a cocktail party to be at?"

Metropolis

Deathstroke was reading his favorite newspaper, The Daily Planet, in a tiny diner. He was skimming through the articles and columns, some were by famous writers like Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant, Ron Troupe, Steve Lombard and Lana Lang. One article struck his attention, it was titled "Luthor out of jail, Chaos in Metropolis" and was written by Lois Lane. The article talked about Lex and his political career and the dangers that lurked in the streets. With another sip of coffee , he turned the page.
"Bright, Sunny, and hot." read the weather section. It seemed like the whole week would be perfect weather.
"Would you like some more coffee sir?" asked the waitress, in a thick New Jersey accent.
"Oh, no thank you. Hey, what do you think of this, look here." he pointed to the Lois Lane article.
"As long as I get my pay, I'm alright." she responded.
"Funny that's my same maxim. That's why I'm here actually, Miss. Doe, isn't it?"
"Yes..." meekly said the waitress.

He left the Diner. Some blood dripped from his left hand and, in his right, he dropped a smell note.
"I hope the old man will pay upfront next time."
The note fell into a pool of blood that started form at the entrance of the diner. The note read "Jane Doe, waitress at diner on corner, works from 9-7,Jersey."
Deathstroke walked down the street as the police arrived at the scene. "Guess it's time to get my pay"
It's a secret to everybody.

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost..."

"Is it dead?" ( ._.) (._. ) "I don't know? Poke it."

Deadpool was having a nice time. He didn't really know why (Is that the third time you've posted that? C'mon Benomia! Step up the variety! [I feel the need to say that he did know why...]), but he didn't seem to know why (Are you trolling us?) he was falling, if that's even what you could call (Call what, falling?) falling...

Metrop[Don't tell me you're going to make up some lame excuse to put Deadpool near the others.](I think he is, Brack.)[Don't call me Brack. You know I hate that.]olis

Deadpool wondered into the city, looking for someone by the name of Nam Nori (You gotta love alliterations as a name.). He wondered around for a bit, and decided to try the nearest strip club [Did I read that right? Yeah! We're goin' to the strip club!].

Stark decided to play along with the sarcasm. "Yes, I do, but it's at five and I have time..." He then smirked. "Lets use Gotham's prison system as an example on how three years means nothing. Last I checked, the Joker is still... himself. You can't really change that kind of crazy unless Batman puts him to rest." JARVIS then buzzed about a phone call from a SHIELD agent, but canned it, wanting to have a little more fun before talking business with Fury's lackies. "I think it would be wise to give him a nice gesture that if he had any evil schemes, you'd put a stop to them..."

Bruce Wayne, a self made billionaire, sat in his office looking at the news. Crime has been on the rise, and Batman wasn't there to help. Bruce needed help. He needed someone to talk to. He rushed out of Wayne Manor, and he boarded his limo. He ordered the driver to head to Metropolis. He told the driver to drive around until they find Superman. Once Bruce decides to look out the window, he sees Superman flying in the air with Iron Man. Bruce stepped out and yelled "Clark! Come down, I need to talk to you."

Metropolis

Superman had just finished his conversation with Iron Man when he heard Bruce Wayne in the streets below. In close to an instant, the Man of Steel was beside the parked limo.

"Mr. Wayne, I did not expect to see you driving around Metropolis at this hour. If we need to talk, would Wayne Manor be the best place, or the Watchtower?"

Green Lantern
I sped through the Cosmos as I got the feeling that Superman was right. Something was out of place. But it was not in space. But back on Earth. I let out a sigh as I changed directions and went back. It was not like I 'knew' anything was about to start but...I felt it in my gut.

Something was not right...

So I sped back to Metropolis and ran across a diner that had a waitress murdered in broad daylight A police officer walked up to me.
"Green Lantern, do you perhaps know who did this? We have a couple witnesses but things are pretty unreliable right now. Nobody really noticed this man until he was gone."
"Do I know? No. But I have a hunch. My thoughts were on DeathStroke. It seemed to fit him. An expert kill in broad daylight. Without even a reliable witness to place him."
"Well, I will have my men search for him. I will let you know If I find anything."

I did not respond. A life had just been taken in cold blood and I was out to find out who did this. But something in my bones told me I was right as I flew off.

Stark rolled his eyes. The big S was still a hero who was all for keeping things like that secretive. A simple warning against Luthor could easily keep things calm, but hey... why meddle with the affairs of Superman, knowing he could squeeze him out of his suit like toothpaste. Iron Man was about to take off as he saw Superman fly over to a limo. Now, unless someone stole some of his money, the only other major billionaire with connections to Superman was Bruce Wayne, but that didn't make sense with this being Metropolis. Stark ignored it and flew back to New York, with JARVIS ready to announce crime while he went back to work.

Gotham City, Location Unknown

Edward sat in front of his monitors, on which much of Gotham was revealed to him. Every mugging, and more importantly, every case of vigilante justice, was his to see and study. Batman was his usual obsession, but his usual muse was not giving him the usual enjoyment. No, he needed a new muse. Something else to keep him occupied. He decided he'd start with a good-old-fashioned bank robbery, to get the funds he might need to begin his operations. For that, he decided to contact a merc he'd heard of. He sent an encrypted message to the mercenary known as Deathstroke, via the hacking program he had used to access the Mercenary's mobile device. He masked his voice, but couldn't help but make the picture his infamous question mark and start the message with a riddle.

"Riddle me this, what makes men go mad with greed, but each man has to get his needs? That's right, my easily-bought friend. Money. Come at the address I've made your background on your cellular phone and I'll ensure you get plenty of it. Hope to see you soon!"
"And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains..."

Bruce's Limo

Superman nodded.

"I imagine you have also noticed the dark times approaching. All right, I'll send a signal out, and we shall meet there."

Superman flew out of the Limo and at high speeds, reached the Watchtower where he pressed the signal, putting in a personal message to each of the Justice League to arrive at the Watchtower immediately.

Green Lantern
As I searched the city for DeathStroke I got a signal from the watch tower. It must be Superman. I then sent him a message.

"Superman, this is Green Lantern. I got a signal from the watch tower. I assume that is you? Nevermind, I know you would not just call the Justice League for nothing but can it wait? I have a murder here and I believe DeathStroke is responsible. I am hunting him now. So, do you need me to report to the Watch Tower now?"

Metropolis

Deathstroke, who is and was wearing a trench-coat over his uniform, left the house of an old war friend. He was a common man who kept to himself, except when he needed a sassy waitress dead. As Slade walked down the street, his phone rang.
"What the hell? Who could have gotten this number?"
The Mercenary read over the cryptic text a few times before setting out towards the destination left for him. Of course the Riddler would pay well; super-villains always did.

He reached Gotham via the Rapids, and set of towards the base of the Riddler. As he reached, he was brought into what he presumed was the villain's parlor.
It's a secret to everybody.

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost..."

"Is it dead?" ( ._.) (._. ) "I don't know? Poke it."
