The Maze & The Champions (IC)

[Arokop]

You suddenly awaken inside of a dark hallway. The walls are made of stone, but they do not reach the ceiling, which appears to be high above you. You go down the hallway, only to discover that it leads to a forked path, two options, but each hallway looking identical. It soon occurs to you that you are in a maze.

You can hear terrible screams and growls coming from other places, but are unable to determine where they are coming from. One thing is clear, however. You are trapped in a maze. Will you escape with your life, or will you spend your final hours desperately looking for a way out?

[G-Tech Corporation]

Ugluk draws his short sword and twirls it in one massive paw, then snarls a challenge to the sounds, prepared to face anything in his Orkish mind and watching both corridors.

[Arokop]

Ugluk is soon faced with three goblin warriors, each armed with a club. None of them had eaten in days, and were desperate to turn the Ork into food.

[Firstaria]

Daniel wakes up looking around, clearly in a maze. Looking at the people near you, he's surprised to see so many different races around him, but some human as well.

He's about to use his bardic skills to wake up the people, but sees this would not be necessary. He notices a big orc that woke up before him just going forward, without waiting the others. He believes that is a foolish decision, not to wait the others, but his mind knows that is better to not argue with orcish logic.

He decides simply to look around for anything useful that may not belong to the people waking up, or maybe some secret.

Nathan, upon waking up and hearing the screams, instictly pulled his daggers carefully concealed in his boots. "Where am i?" Nathan said, as he glanced about.

[Firstaria]

" Don't worry rogue! I think you are with friends, or companions in the same disgrace. " Said the bard, noticing the thing was a little tiny to be an human, but also wasn't a dwarf. An halfling, he had to presume.

" It appears someone tossed us in a dungeon, but with our weapons, so I have to presume he wants us to clear it... "

Ugluk roars and steps towards the goblins, sword swinging in a deadly arc. One massive fist is balled up and soaring towards the torso of a goblin, while the other bears the wicked weapon on its journey to lop off a suborkoid head. His eyes are filled with battle fever, but also with cunning; Ugluk has seen more conflicts amongst the tribes than civilized races have had in their entire history. He is the veteran of a thousand skirmishes, a hundred battles. The Ork is more than a match for these puny goblins, even in his own small mind.

[Arokop]

The group, as well as the orc, hear a screech coming from down a long, dark corridor.

Then, several goblin come running in your direction, but not to attack. No, then are running to get away from whatever it is that made the sound.

[Firstaria]

Daniel looked at the goblin run and said " Ok, I don't need to talk that language to know that pretty much translates in 'go any other way except this, and fast'! "

Sure everyone else will follow him, Daniel takes the opposite way from where that sound came from.

Ugluk finishes eviscerating the three goblins, and loots the bodies (mainly stealing their clubs- whacky sticks always came in handy), and then followed Daniel. Whatever the goblins were running from, eh, the ork didn't care. He simply thought Daniel might have an idea what was going on, which had finally worked its way through his orkish brain was out of the ordinary.

Awaken by the howling of monsters, Ashur begins to run. He doesn't have a very good reason to run, but he does see other humans and a monster running in fear. It's better, Ashur thought, to not stick around to find out the cause of that fear. Catching up to the group, Ashur decides to speak to the two humans, instead of the monster running beside them, for fear of being eaten.

"What say you, friends?," Ashur spoke. "What is this place? What terrifying beast do we run from?"

[Firstaria]

" In order: I think we are companions in misadventure, I don't know; and since he just made a bunch of goblin run away pissed off, I decided to go before asking more info, but feel free to stop and ask to the growling creature what the hell is he! "

Daniel said at the newcomer, slowing down a little. He didn't want to run on the other side to something equally dangerous, maybe it was better to make the orc go first.

[Arokop]

The sounds of the creature were getting closer, and you could begin to hear the screams of those who had fallen behind.

The ground becan to quake below you with each step the creature took.

[Firstaria]

The scream was enough to make Daniel run faster. Having just a learher armor with him. He was surely faster and more agile than the big orc. It was only a matter of surpassing it, not the creature.

Ugluk laughed brutishly, and with a sweep of his sword, not even pausing his stride, hamstrang one of the goblins running nearby him. It gave a piteous squeak and fell heavily, and another swipe felled another creature. Now only the humans and the ork remained running; Ugluk wasn't even really sure why he was running in his conscious mind, but somewhere in his stupid brain a little voice was saying he might not be able to kill whatever was chasing then. Maybe it would get full of goblin and give up. Clad in but a steel breastplate and tattered garments, the Uruk put down its head and picked up speed, long muscled legs building in tempo like that of a racehorse. He had run in pursuit of horsemen before with his brothers on the plains and overtaken them when they tired; the orc had no quit in his body, and did not even understand the meaning of the word.

Ashur jumped over the felled goblins. He was not sure why the monster chose to slay its own kind. They're both hideously ugly. The display of sudden outrage by this creature only confirmed that Ashur needs to be cautious in dealing with it. Noticing the group sped up, he did the same. It is usually the last man who dies in situations like these, and Ashur will not fall!

"Does this passageway ever end?," Ashur yelled to the group.

Seeing this human taking off, Nathan quickly followed, not wanting to become meat for some creature. If he ran faster than the goblins, there was a chance, and being an expert rouge, he had an advantage.

[Arokop]

After what seems like forever, the companions reach a forked road. They can go to the left, the right, or continue on straight ahead.

They should make up their minds quickly too, since the monster is still gaining on them.

[Hellespont]

"Straight, just run straight" Donal said hysterically as he took off into the darkness. He usually lived a quiet life in the woods, with his fellow Elves. This, was of course a shock for Donal. However, it could not be said that he wasn't expecting this. The day before he had comitted a deed so dark that he had to take off into the trees before his comrades could reach him.

He had had 'intimate' relations with a member of another clan. This of course was not true, but him being a half-breed, he was the lowest ranking member in the group, which meant when a 'proper' elf accused him of doing a crime so heinous as this, every believe him and not Donal. So here he was, stuck with filthy humans and an Orc, whilst a screaming monster chased them down the tunnel.

Ugluk swore harshly in the Black Speech, and ran with the elf along the middle way; a pointy eared bastard it might be, but two headed were better than one. He ran, but as he ran he drew his sword with his left hand and took a club off his back with his right massive paw. In guttural tones he spoke in Common- not in a sing-song manner as the elf had done, but just understandably and stolidly. "We cannot run forever. We should turn and face this grashnaka" -a word best untranslated from Orcish- "before we are spent and cannot hope to slay it."

Ashur quickly followed the group straight ahead. The pointy-eared man is a fast one he thought. Just then he saw the monster draw its weapons. He speaks of slaying whatever chases us. It really thirsts for blood. He questioned whether that was such a good idea. The ground trembles every step the beast takes.

"Our ferocious friend here might be right!," Ashur yelled. "Face the beast now, while we still have breath, or face it later, when we are completely exhausted? What of it, friends?"

[Sigvardia]

Hashim followed the others down the middle passage. He ran past the uruk, then stopped and drew his bow from its case. He quickly strung the bow and put several arrows between his fingers to allow for rapid shooting.

[The Quadruple Alliance]

Thog da Proactive awoke in a dark corridor with nothing but his clothes and club. He stood about in confusion for a bit, until a large group of goblins, humans (at least, he assumed all of the pink, fleshy peoples were humans, ogres were not keen on such subtle differences), and an ork ran past, running from some howling creature.

Thog shrugged, and ran with the group, it seemed like the popular thing to do.

Then they stopped, and it seemed like the ork wanted to smash the howly-thing instead of running. Thog instinctively liked this ork, "We Smash!!" he agreed, hefting his greatclub in his massive arms, readying himself to smash at whatever it was chasing them.

Following the group, as a bunch turned to face what was chasing them, Nathan thought better for himself, and followed the elf down the middle path, leaving the others behind to face whatever was chasing them. Daggers still in his hand, he was ready to knife something that would get in his way, but hopefully he wouldn't have to. He after all, was part hobbit, and hobbits usually avoided the fight. Tis much better to steal and eat then fight.

Daniel stopped behind the whole group, as second line, and said " Oh well, if you are all decided then let's do this. " And pulled out his crossbow. Better restrain from using bardic skills until he could identify the creature.
