X-COM, Enemy Unknown RP [OOC/OPEN]

In the beginning of the 21st century the number of UFOs sightings and reports grew through the world until their unknown origin and hostile behavior started to alarm Nationstates' political and military leaders. Deciding to pool their resources together, the World Assembly activated the 'XCOM Project' - a covert international organization named XCOM - the eXtraterrestrial COMbat agency - was established and staffed with Earth's top soldiers, scientists and engineers, while operating out of a hidden subterranean headquarters equipped with the best weapons and equipment available.
Tasked with the role of investigating and stopping the growing alien threat, XCOM started its operations on March 15th, 2015, under the motto "Vigilo Confido" - I am watchful. I am relied upon.


So, I tried to start this EVEN BEFORE the new game came out on the shelves, and I failed to do so but I didn't give up. Now that we have a new version with new aliens and new images to inspire, I hope this will truly go.


You will be an Agent called to be part of the X-COM Operatives strike team, a chosen military unit that will deal with the alien menace. You will start severely outnumbered and with inferior technology and abilities; but as you will survive and complete mission, the X-COM project will grow and will have access to the alien weaponry to use it against them and have the final upper hand.

You will not be alone, as the best scientist and engineers from all around Nationstates have been put at your disposal. Funding is not a problem, neither is supply; but this comes at a cost. Every month, the WA will wait from us a detailed reports: our failure in dealing with the alien menace may force some countries to abandon the project, and losing too many will make impossible for us to continue operating. Needless to say, we are the last defense line: If we fail, humanity is condemned.

On the behalf of the voting, X-COM base will be situated in Firstaria, San Michelle Mountains, near Calatia.

Specialization: There are 4 possible specialization in X-COM:
Assault - the basic solider, first to enter and last to leave. Really fast, armed with close range weapon. Perfect to flank enemies.
Heavy - the heavy weapon guy, expert with explosives. Can use his large ammo to force enemies into stall. Resistant, but slow.
Sniper - the sniper, deadly aim and great vision. Even the biggest aliens fear his scope. However, fragile and not really fast.
Support - the helper, good with medical things and general support. Jack of all traits, but really master of none.

Psi: Decide your Psi affinity, yes or not. WARNING: Psi will give less field power, but plot importance and PSI powers. And I mean a LOT less field power.

Bio: Your bio, and your sample too. Let it be good.

Nation name: Your nation name. You can use any name with the owner authorization, or use a real world nation.
Major cities: At least 3 for having places to make missions.
X-COM opinion: Your opinion on the initiative. Remember you are part of the council, this will only affect how much you can withstand before deciding to leave.
Alien opinion: Your opinion on aliens. NO ALIEN LOVING NATIONS, they are evil. This will change different parameters, like your interest in holding alien technology or corpse sample, or seeing X-COM downing UFO in your nation, or your council standing and funding...


There are, of course, some conditions:
  • You must give the OK to use your nation and to perform alien attacks in it.
  • Aliens are hit and run bastards. YOUR MILITARY WILL BE INEFFICIENT. Deal with it.
  • 2015 means modern technology, except those that X-COM will furnish later.
  • You are part of the council, so no Alien Loving nation who will attack X-COM bases. You do that, you get nuked by the council.
  • You ARE NOT GONNA RP YOUR NATIONS, you are just gonna give the details for the behavior and maybe some occasional message. I have full freedom in making the council work as I see fit for our situation.





RANK BONUSES

Squaddie - Ability to dash and shoot without penalities.
Corporal - Cover works better depending on the number of the enemies he spots.
Sergeant - Great chance to dodge fire while dashing to cover.
Lieutenant - Ability to shot the enemy out of cover.
Captain - Great bonus with close targets.
Major - Bonus of armors greatly increased.
Colonel - Cannot be killed by the first shot of any weapon.


Squaddie - Acquires Rocket Launcher, 1 Rocket.
Corporal - Shooting counts as cover for him.
Sergeant - Can Suppress enemy with great efficent and less ammo usage. Suppressed enemies cannot shot or move.
Lieutenant - Bonus in dealing with mechanical enemies.
Captain - Can suppress an area instead of an enemy, making possible multiple suppressions.
Major - If in cover, shots are just light damage for him.
Colonel - Greatly increase damage during Suppression or normal shooting.


Squaddie - Grants bonus at the first shot against an enemy.
Corporal - Bonus to aim if the target is seen by other team members.
Sergeant - Greater chances to hit and damage with pistol.
Lieutenant - Can hit enemy weapon, disabling it. Disabled weapons get destroyed.
Captain - No more negative bonus in shooting a moving target, if prepared to shoot.
Major - All covers count as complete covers.
Colonel - Can quickly shoot at multiple targets if he sees them.


Squaddie - Grants Smoke Grenade. Great cover bonus if deployed in an area.
Corporal - Allows to shoot enemies before they shoot, if prepared to fire.
Sergeant - Allows to carry 3 medikits.
Lieutenant - Can Suppress with rifle, although not good as the Heavy. Suppressed enemies cannot shot or move.
Captain - Smoke Grenade confers almost immunity to hit in the area.
Major - Can carry much more than anyone else in the team.
Colonel - Can rapidly shoot multiple moving or shooting targets, if prepared to fire.





SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES

  • S.C.O.P.E. = Boost in the general aim of the teams.
  • Nano-Fiber Vest = Gives a chance to survive a critical hit.

I know nothing about x-com, but I have seen the game in some countdowns and seen ads for the game. interesting concept with our nations making up the council.
I enjoy role-playing and ponies. I'm also descended from French kings, English kings, and Vikings. Can't speak anything other than English though.

X-COM goes well behind 2000, the first game was in the 1994. Personally, I'll like more the newcomers as they will be surprised by what they will found rather than those who will already run when I'll write the word Chryssalid in a post.

All you truly need to know is how to be a soldier, you will be introduced to the other aspect step by step in the RP.

That makes a total of 3 agents. Not gonna like, I will probably do a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8. More would require me to deploy alien legions to give that X-COM feeling of difficulty.

Remember, this is a character RP, You will NOT RP YOUR NATION except for some occasional communications. I'm sorry, but I can already see you trying to obviously advantage or disvdantage X-COM in so subtle ways that this could become a political RP, and this is not.

I'm in. Also, I'm currently playing the reboot, so yeah, ask me for further informations.
Also, the number of agents is capped at 6, in the remake. Since I played it, it makes sense, since 6 good agents can easily flank even Mutons and beat the shit out of thim witht combined arms and tactics.

Yeah, 6 specialized agent makes things more interesting that 20 agents all around the map I have to admit.

I'm gonna write the app and the vote seems largely in favor of the World Assembly. Then our dear Sectoids have missed our earth for an inch and have landed in NS!

Looks interesting. I haven't played the 'really' old X-Com games but loved the UFO-Games for PC. Haven't played the new one though. I'm already too addicted playing the open source version at my Linux-PC (UFO Alien Invasion or UFO AI) every now and then. ^^

That said, after an international crisis brought terrible danger to Agritum, Catherine promptly left her doctoring job (which she had only obtained a few months before) and was enrolled in Agritum's army as a combat medic.

After this military tour, Kat didn't quit her career in the Army, and continued to work as a member of it, up until she was hired by a certain super-secret anti-alien organization...


Also, First, Assault class can use both rifles and shotguns. I personally prefer to have two Assaults in my team, one shotgun toting and the other with a rifle.

I said close range weapons to not make everyone go on assault. Of course that will be not limited to them, I'm just saying they will have a bonus for it.

Also, if the heavy goes down and an assault takes the rpg and kills someone, I'll not shout " broken rule ". Remember this is an RP, we can be a little more realistic.

Last but not least, Kat will be used as the codename. To be fair, it's a little stupid that you have to wait Colonel to assign one, it's more like you have to survive some mission to earn them, and since mortality rate will be a BIT lower in the RP (I'm still gonna kill you guys if you go rambo or you end up in bad situations, or really poor RP) I say we can already give those.
