App time!
NS Nation Name (I know, there's no point, but still): The New Lowlands
RP Nation: The Kingdom of Constantinople
Leader: Alyssa I of Rûm
Religion: the State Religion is Christianity, the major religion is Roman Catholicism, and Alyssa is a Sunni Muslim.
Government Type: Semi-Absolute Monarchy
Number from of provinces from 1-20 and location: Map here. 20 provinces. Controls the Bosphorus.
Population: 920,000
Army size (should never exceed 10% of population during peacetime):
Military Speciality: The Constantines are known for their disciplined, well-trained and equipped forces, provided for by the Empress' vast wealth. Lacking in the early gun technology, but with good tactics, strategy, and advanced in other manners, the soldiers of Constantinople are effective both at fighting against Eastern and Western enemies; their good organisation, excellent infantry, and strong cavalry are the envy of other nations.

Military Weakness: Although the Constantines have access to the rather unique technology of Greek Fire, the Constantine navy is somewhat lacking; most of their naval trade and combat is conducted in the Bosphorus, which they essentially entirely control.

Unique Units (Maximum 3):
Varangian Guards; the personal bodyguards of the Emperor, the Varangians are chiefly composed of Norsemen and Germanians. Varangians are the best-armed and best-trained soldiers of Constantinople, and chiefly trained in the axe and fight in heavy armours. Incredibly disciplined soldiers, they are loyal unto death.

Akritai; The Akritai are a light infantry militia, easily levied from the Constantine States' populace. Lightly armoured (unlike their counterparts, who often receive no armour at all!) the Akritai form the core of the Byzantine armies, acting usually as phalanx troopers, massed troops, and spearmen against enemy cavalry. They form the vast majority of the Byzantine army. Sometimes referred to as Triarii.

Bucephalai; Named after Alexander's famous steed, Bucephalus, the Bucephalai are Constantinoples' unique cast of heavy cavalry. Career soldiers as opposed to knights, the Bucephalai have been trained to be exceedingly loyal to the ruling dynasty rather than their generals or nobles, and are often rich landowners. In combat, they are heavily armed and armoured, comparable to the Cataphracts of old (albeit armoured in plate.) As such, they are often referred to as Constantine Cataphracts.

Well, England at this time had about 1 million people, and Europe as a whole had about 70-100 million people total in 1000 AD. I honestly just looked at others populations and came to 750,000 as a sort of mid-level.

Venice was also a city-state with some extra holdings. So I have to ask; Is that the population of the city proper, or the population of the entire holdings of Venice?

...So you're complaining about us, who each have roughly double the land of Venice if not more, having more than Venice does, while you jumped up to a million plus, something mostly unheard of save for a few multinational states?

Woops, someone has a very similar flag to you. Apologies about that. But still, that is a rather normal population for the era. Venice was a citystate with outlying territory; it wouldn't have a large population.

Yeah, I agree. I just assume anything under 1 million to be fairly accurate at this point.
