NS IPO certainly has some socialist, collectivist undertones, but it was a shit-ton of fun and idealistic, I think. Yes, that does also represent my own political beliefs coincidentally.

I disagree. It was a bunch of greedy capitalists doing whatever to secure their own interests no matter the cost. We did not care that Max have spent the better part of his life creating Nationstates. By offering prostitution alongside investment opportunities of shady character, demanding "protection-money" from weaker states and creating lotteries harshly exploiting peoples gambling addiction, we managed to force the creator of nation states to his knees. And while he did try to reason with us, trying to make us realize our own foolish ways:
"Update 6: . But how—by giving absolute power to one nation? Is that what you want? Because you know what that smells like? Tyranny!"
We continued our own selfish way. My friends, during the few short hours on April 1st we did not prove that the people of Nationsates is underlying good and idealistic. We proved that we are a group of heartless greedy capitalists that will stop at nothing, to steal a mans creation, his life and his legacy.

The UDL made a run relatively early on, but in the end they tossed their weight behind Earth, who then tossed her weight behind the NSC. I saw Ballo lift off like a damn rocket once he revived his army of puppets.

I never thought it was anything of real shares, and did not think an April fools joke as I found it late. Just thought it was some small addition to the game.

Adding something that is lacking - that I used to like about NationStates 2 where there was actual outcomes in the game based on decisions made, trade with other nations, and even the potential though never quite completed of in game war.

So sad that such an expanded concept of NationStates had to be killed off, and thanks to one bad experience, never likely to be done again by Max Barry, and can't be done by others without violating the copyrights of Max Berry.
