I'm a Catholic, so it's not MUCH of a leap....how many shares do you have?

How many shares would would you give me if I got the Catholic to refund the schism of 1054?

If you get the Catholic church to renounce and reject the filioque, purgatory, Papal infallibility, the Immaculate Conception, and doctrines of Papal monarchical supremacy by the end of the share trading period while embracing patriarchal collegiality and returning to the bosom of the One True Church?

Manage that, and you can have all of Max Barry's shares.

You have my word as a game mod.

Silly Tergnitz; I'm not wasting my shares on people who are already Orthodox.

I am disappointed there have been no takers so far.

Perhaps it's the insistence of our Greek Orthodox brothers that potential converts within their jurisdiction take month-long courses to understand the full richness of the Orthodox theological and liturgical tradition.

I can see why that might be a problem.

Pro-tip: instead go to a church under the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch. There's plenty of them scattered around the Western world (even our South American members don't have an excuse), and they'll take just about anyone.

Aw man, there are no Orthodox churches around here.
Wait, wait, there's a Ukrainian Orthodox church, does that count?

If someone where to unify all the churches in North America under one jurisdiction, would that be worth something?

That depends on the type of Ukrainian Orthodox Church - there are three separate jurisdictions claiming the title, only one of which is canonical.

Yes - but the North American bishops seem to be getting there anyway. But if you can speed up the process, feel free to try!

Would you accept a non-denominational Christian who baptized himself in the holy spirit?

The folks in the Russian Orthodox church of Buenos Aires (located Brasil 315, near the intersection with Defensa) were kind enough to let me convert. Took a picture while was at it.

No. Sorry.

Heretics. Honestly...

No certificate, so no shares. Sorry.

What did विष्णु say?

Polkopia wrote:I'm curious, what type of Orthodox are you? I follow the Russian Orthodox faith

There's no such thing as a 'Russian Orthodox faith' - merely the Russian Patriarchate of the Orthodox Church. But yes, we also tend to be under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate (though our current church is a Russian tradition parish of the Ecumenical Patriarchate; these things are always tricky in Orthodoxy).

I know the address - I plan on visiting when I'm in your part of the world in three weeks. However, I happen to know for a fact (because I checked a couple of weeks ago) that the Buenos Aires cathedral is a ROCOR jurisdiction, and there's no way they'd let you convert on a whim. Also, I don't see your certificate. Sorry.

You really thought I wouldn't notice that A) the date of conversion is listed as 1958 (though I had to use Photoship to get a high enough resolution to confirm that) and B) The self-proclaimed 'African Orthodox Church' (which is an African-American organisation founded in the USA in the 1920s) is of dubious canonicity; certainly it's not in communion with Constantinople and Moscow, as specified in the OP. Sorry.

A) I can read that small print and B) all of the details have been erased. Sorry.

Oh well, looks like I've kept my shares.

Cyril and Methodius I'm clearly not.

I should have known about this earlier. The orthodox church is one of my favourites. Mostly to use as a religion in computer games, but still.

Also, Arch, don't take it to hard C&M took years, you had like, what a bit more than a day?

You probably would've gotten more had you been selling membership rather than offering to pay converts. It's just how this twisted forum works...

The market for that was saturated, I believe. It's why I went for doing art.

And that's why I went for religious conversion and giving away my worldly riches in a show of Christian charity.

I was sure all the cool kids would go for it.
