Hajj Mohammed bin Osman stood, the motion releasing gas in his gut. He quietly farted before speaking.

"My esteemed brother is right. I have no confidence in the Speaker's abilities to impartially manage this house. I therefore would like to request a vote of no confidence in the speaker immediately."

"If the honorable member is motioning for such a vote, I second the motion. That is, if this speaker will recognize my second, which he probably won't."

John returns to the Chamber after leaving on some urgent peacekeeping-related business earlier, enjoying a bag of onion rings.

Eight peacekeepers enter the Parliament, responding to the official orders of the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Elizia, upon his approval of the request from the Home Secretary and the President. Five of them approach the Honourable Alan Chan: "Mr. Chan, you are in contempt of Parliament and disrupting democratic proceedings. Lt. Gen Thems, head of the UN mission, and thus security, in Elizia, has ordered you to be removed from the premises. If you would kindly follow us peacefully, no force will be used."

That tune that plays when Frank pulls something big off in House of Cards starts blasting from the Chamber's PA system.

"Mr Speaker, throughout history we have seen that the wave of progress in any developing or newly industrialised country has been primarily in the cities. This causes a huge divide in nations, between those in the cities and those in the country. This creates immense rural poverty, this creates large rural joblessness, this creates a brain-drain, this destroys rural culture. What assurances can the Minister for Economic Affairs give people like me, who were born in rural Elizia, that economic and national progress will benefit all Elizians, not just those living in Kentang?"

Suryodhono regains his professional stature quickly, sitting upright and being in the chamber like a normal human being. His heavy breathing was hidden at its best.

There's not much to ask on his case, though, unfortunately.

"Armed Troops in parliament!" Boris can't believe it. "Are we now living in a new military junta backed by the UN? This is totally outrageous affront to the concept of democracy to have soldiers from another country backing up the anti democratic actions of the speaker. You should all be ashamed of yourselves."

"I too second the motion to hold a vote of no confidence in the speaker, he can't be fair, he can't protect this house from outside influence and just ignores the whole situation. He has previous dodgy rulings on debating time and his actions in my humble opinion have in the main served to undermine the democratic process in this house and to subvert the democracy he is supposed to guard."

"I also believe at this point the president has no commitment to democracy and organising the silencing of opposition voices in seeming collusion with the speaker of this house in this repression of democracy and free speech is disgraceful and soils the office he represents and the ordinary people of this nation. He should go before he does irreparable harm to the nation and this fledgling democracy."

"This government is a disgrace and I call for a full inquiry into the matter. Perhaps any member of the government can explain themselves and the actions of the president in deeming armed force acceptable in a democratic parliament?"

John rose from the government frontbenches with a mix of annoyance and incredulity on his face. His voice, however, was a positively boring monotone.

"What's an affront to democracy is the fact that Mr. Chan believes that he is entitled to hold up the affairs of Parliament in order to further an utterly bizarre personal agenda. He has been suspended from the service of this House for a set and reasonable period of time as punishment for his disruptive actions, and his refusal to leave shows contempt for the laws and officials of this nation. As the Elizian government has not yet taken back control over law enforcement from the United Nations Transitional Authority by virtue of not swearing in any individual empowered to enforce the law, it is fully within the authority of this government to request that duly-empowered officials of the law step in and handle the situation. This is what they have done, and this is a decision that I and the Home Office fully stand by."

"Now," John said with a smirk as he grabbed another onion ring out of the box, "I believe that the National Islamist Party has used up one of its two questions, Mr. Speaker."
